It's Not Always Hard to Tell the Truth

Millie was sitting on the bed of the Team Rat Face girl's cabin, holding an ice pack to her jaw, hissing at the sensation of the ice pack touching her sensitive skin. Millie looked annoyed, hating extremely cold and extremely hot things touching her. Millie was also wiping the remnants of the pink paint from the first challenge of Total Drama Island Season 2 from her face. Despite the ice cold that was permeating her skin, Millie also felt guilty, feeling like it was her fault that her team lost. Millie couldn't help but shake the thought that if she had thought before she acted, her team would've had a more dominant win than they ended up having.

"Hey." A simple word from her bestie, Priya, was able to stop Millie's negative thoughts about herself while also making her feel more nervous.

"Hey."

"How're you feeling? You got hit pretty hard," Priya responded, gently massaging her cheek. Millie looked comforted by Priya's touch, but the two quickly realized what was going on. Priya immediately pulled her hand away from Millie, the two blushing at the contact, with Millie being the one to break the awkward silence.

"Well, my jaw feels like it's dislocated, but other than that, I'm alright," Millie said, trying to laugh through the pain, but the laughing was only exacerbating the pain, so after chuckling a little, Millie yelped in pain and pressed the ice pack harder against her cheek. Priya sat down next to Millie and patted her shoulder with a comforting smile on her face.

"You did well out there."

"No I didn't," Millie responded dejectedly, not even able to look at Priya until she forced her to look.

"You messed up. We all do, but you showed some heart and courage out there, which is something I'm proud of you for. And once you reread the chapter I wrote on how to properly start challenges, you'll be a killer out there!" Priya exclaimed excitedly while ruffling her hair playfully. The mention of Priya's Total Drama Guidebook made her heart drop, as Millie hadn't actually read it in the few months that she had between the first season of Total Drama and the second season. Millie hadn't told Priya due to being afraid of her reaction, but she also didn't want to keep this from Priya, especially since she was a terrible liar.

"Priya, I…I have something to tell you," Millie said, her eyes darting away from Priya and focusing on the gray sheets of her bed, especially as Priya leaned in closer to her as if Millie was going to whisper something in her ear. "I…I didn't actually read your Total Drama Guidebook," Millie said, keeping her eyes closed so she could shield herself from the disappointment that she thought was going to be on Priya's face. Priya's eyes widened as she pulled herself away from Millie, looking at an embarrassed Millie with a raised eyebrow and her mouth agape.

"You…didn't?"

"I…I meant to, I swear! But, I was busy! My articles about my time on Total Drama got really popular, and they were even featured in the New York Times! I got some interviews and even got a book deal, which is like a dream come true for me! And…your Guidebook kind of slipped my mind! I'm really sorry, and I really wanted to read it, but I had so much to do that I couldn't!" Millie further confessed, her hands beginning to shake in front of her chest, and her eyes starting to form tears as a couple of those tears escaped her eyes and started going down her cheeks. Priya looked at Millie in shock for a moment and noticing how sad and guilty Millie looked, wiped the tears away from her eyes and off of her cheeks.

"Millie, you don't need to cry about this. Look, I'm a little disappointed that you didn't read it, as I did work hard on that so that you and I could succeed together. But like you said, you were busy, and I know how you get when you get busy, so don't worry, I'm not mad at you," Priya said, giving Millie a warm smile while she was trying to calm down by breathing. Millie smiled at Priya and gave her a hug, which Priya immediately returned, nuzzling her cheek onto her shoulder. The two stayed in that hug for a while, but once they realized how long they had been in that position, Millie and Priya pulled away from each other, looking away with their faces red as tomatoes.

"Sorry about that."

"No, no it's OK." Millie and Priya then sat next to each other, looking everywhere but at each other, their faces also still red in embarrassment. Millie's hand started shaking in front of her chest again while Priya's mind was racing at 100 miles a minute. Both women did have feelings for each other and had feelings for each other since the first season of the Total Drama Island reboot, but they've never really had enough social experience to confess to the other. Priya had been pretty sheltered by her reality show-obsessed parents, and Millie was an autistic teenager who was never good at making friends to begin with. However, when they both realized that they were alone, Millie and Priya took a deep breath, and leaned closer to each other, closing their eyes before bellowing out.

"I LOVE YOU!" Priya and Millie instinctively shot both of their hands in front of their mouths, embarrassed at their sudden confession. However, after they both had realized what they had said, Priya and Millie slowly moved their hands from in front of their mouth, the smiles growing on their faces. Millie and Priya hugged each other again, but this time, leaned closer to each other before kissing each other. After a minute of straight kissing, the two let go of each other for air, with Priya and Millie smiling at each other, not knowing what to say.

"Wow…that was…"

"Amazing."

"Yeah…yeah, it was amazing," Priya said, both in a dreamy state before getting up, holding each other's hand like letting go would mean letting go of a lifeline and laying down on the bed, cuddling with each other. Millie's sore cheek was forgotten as her ice pack fell to the floor with Millie and Priya too focused on each other to even worry about any potential injuries from the challenges. Millie had thought that admitting that she hadn't read Priya's Total Drama Guidebook was going to end their friendship, and it did in a way that she never would've thought of, and she couldn't have been happier.
