Chapter 1: Family Hair-o-ween.
I'm back! I know it's been a while since I've done anything trolls. But with the hype of Band Together, I've felt the story juices again. A Halloween fanfic of family bonding! A few of my OCs Storm, Thunder, Dub Skull, Korn, and a surprise will be in this. The two formers have been in previous fanfics, and so has the surprise.
Enjoy!
A lot has happened in the past few months. Viva, eager to stick together with Poppy from now on had the Putt Putt Trolls rejoin the rest of Pop Village. A handful of other long-lost families got to reunite. Which also allowed Clay to stick around, Floyd was more than willing to stay at the Bunker finally, JD could come and go if he so pleased in Rhonda, and well Bruce could only visit on occasion given his family on Vacay Island. Luckily Hair-o-ween is one of said occasions. Branch had a few ideas on how to spend their first Hair-o-ween together in so long.
Poppy and Viva meanwhile in Poppy's pod kept planning activities for the festival. Both laying on her bed writing down their ideas.
"So definitely a pumpkin carving contest!" Poppy said writing on their list.
"Yeah, and taffy making." Viva added.
"And I believe Storm and Thunder will be in charge of the hayrides." Poppy remembered to put. "What else?" She wondered clicking her pen.
"Pie eating contest?" Viva suggested.
"Sure! But it still doesn't seem like enough." Poppy got up going through the list again. "We should really do a big spooky main event. The rest of these aren't exactly scary."
"Well what else do you think we should do?" Viva sat up and asked.
"I'm not sure. I've sent invitations to the other tribes, so we still need plenty to do." Poppy pondered as she took another look at their list. Spooky wasn't always her strong suit. Getting scared can be fun, but coming up with something scary was hard for most trolls. "Let's go ask Branch and his brothers if they have any ideas." Poppy started leaving her pod and Viva followed.
The Bunker.
"This is quite the schedule you've put together of things for us to do at the festival Branch." Clay commented, admiring the chart Branch made. "I'm impressed!" Branch was over at his desk with Floyd writing down the plan for an event.
"Thanks Clay!" Branch said, but then growled and aggressively erased something on the plan. "No, that won't work."
"I think it looks fine." Floyd commented, putting a hand on his little bro's shoulder. "You sure have put a lot into this maze."
"I've had this haunted maze idea drawn up since the last festival." Branch said drawing something else. "But with you guys back, I want to make some improvements." Clay came over to look.
"It already looks awesome." Clay picked up the plans to take a closer look. "What more improvements can you make? Hey, nice emergency exits."
Branch just sighed and slumped back onto his chair. "I don't know anymore. I'm fresh out of ideas." He picked back up when he heard the elevator coming down. They all looked over to see Poppy and Viva come in with their list. Seeing Poppy did quickly cheer him up.
"Hi Branch!" Poppy greeted coming over and giving him a hug, which he happily returned. "We need some ideas." Branch sighed back into his chair. "What's wrong?"
"Fresh out." Clay shrugged, putting the plan back on the desk.
"Already?" Viva asked. "What have you been using them on?"
"This haunted maze Branch came up with." Floyd showed them.
"That sounds perfect!" Poppy looked at the maze plan. "Just the kind of thing we were looking for."
"There are still some last-minute changes I'd like to make." Branch said.
"Why?" Poppy asked. "I think it looks great as it is."
"That's what we said." Floyd added.
"I know I shouldn't fuss." Branch said. "Perfection is unattainable, blah blah blah. And I won't fuss about the next years. But this is our first Hair-o-ween altogether, so it should be one to remember."
"That's very thoughtful Branch!" Viva praised. "Speaking of together. John Dory should be back soon from picking up Bruce, right?"
"Should be." Clay answered. "Let's go up top to wait for them and get some of your activities ready." Making his way to the elevator.
"Sounds good." Floyd agreed, following him.
"Let's go!" Viva said coming along.
"You guys go ahead; I need a minute." Branch grunted at his desk. It wasn't exactly hard for Poppy to tell he was bummed. She gestured to the other continue while she stayed. They understood and went up the elevator. Poppy grabbed another chair to sit next to him.
"Ya know, the other tribes will be attending the festival too. Our siblings haven't met them yet. That alone will make it pretty memorable." Poppy tried cheering him up.
"Yeah, I guess." Branch sighed. "But they could meet them anytime, on any occasion." Then something came to his mind. "Wait, King Trollex and the techno trolls are coming right?"
"Yeah." Poppy answered. Curious why he asked about them specifically. "Why?" Then it occurred to her where he was getting at. "Wait, are you talking about, him?"
"Oh yeah." Branch answered thoughtfully rubbing his hands together. "If anyone can help me make this maze even better and scarier, it's the Terror Troll of Techno Reef."
"That's true." Poppy agreed. "I bet it'll be a-maze-ing!" She joked and hugged him. He sighed but smiled at her pun.
"You're lucky I love you." Branch said hugging her back.
"Yeah, I know." The two of them got up and went up the elevator to follow their family and start preparations. After they left though, someone came out of hiding to look at the maze plans.
"So, it's true. Poppy and Branch are back together with their long-lost families. This is perfect, I need to tell the others about this!
Pop Village.
The tragon siblings, Storm and Thunder had their arms full of haystacks busy readying for their Hair-o-ween hayride. Thunder grunted throwing the two stacks he had into one of their wagons. "Is that the last of it?" He asked, taking a breather.
"Nope." Storm answered brushing her hands. "We still have a few left to go." Her big brother just groaned in response. "Don't be such a baby. Carrying these to the wagons won't be as hard as pulling the whole things like we'll do."
"Please don't remind me." He sat down beside the wagon.
"Come on bro, we still got a ways to go." Storm nudged him to get back up.
"I know full well that we do." He said stubbornly staying in place. "But I'm officially taking a break." Storm simply shook her head at her brother. Since he finally decided to settle down back home, he's been more into chilling rather than using his strength to labor prepare for parties like she's used to. She was going to say something till said saw Viva, Clay, and Floyd walk up to them.
"Hey guys!" Storm greeted them.
"Hi Storm, Thunder." Viva said coming up and giving Thunder a hug, noticing how beat he is. "Tired?"
"Yes!" He complained, making sure not to yell too loud with Viva right there. "I'm likely to take a nap before the festival. I'll need my energy to lug these things around, not to mention the passengers. Hopefully most of them will be kids."
"Think you two could reserve a ride for us seven?" Viva asked him, standing back up.
"We'll see what we can do." Thunder answered. "Depends on how busy the rides get, and how worn out I am."
"Branch still back at the bunker working on his maze plans?" Storm asked Branch's bros.
"Yeah." Floyd answered. "Wish he wouldn't fuss so hard."
"Kinda expected him to." Storm said. "He might be someone who prepares for anything. But he was never sure when exactly he'd prepare for your guys' return." Floyd looked a little guilty at that last part. He couldn't blame Storm. She was just being honest. It wasn't a great feeling though, him, Branch's brother knowing him less than Storm or Poppy did, even Thunder knew more about him. " Has he gotten started on any of what he does have planned for his haunted maze?" Storm asked.
"Not really." Clay answered. "With all his last minute changes its gonna be a total hassle putting the whole thing together for the festival."
"We'll manage." Everyone turned and saw Branch and Poppy holding hands, finally joining them.
"Hey." Clay said. "Did you finally figure something out?" Referring to his maze brainstorming.
"Not really." Branch answered. "But I know someone who can help out with that."
"Oh really?" Floyd asked. "Who-" He was interrupted by the sound of Rhonda barreling their way. Which Storm was alarmed to see.
"Gah! Thunder, to be safe I suggest we get these wagons out of her way!" Seeing her point, he quickly got back up and started pushing them. The trolls meanwhile tried to coax her to slow down and stop.
"Rhonda please stop!" Poppy waved her hands defensively.
"This hay isn't for eating!" Clay stood between her path and the wagons as she came closer."
"Hey, I've got a pumpkin!" Viva called out with the gourd in her hands. Rhonda skidded to a stop; the others sighed in relief. Rhonda lightly came over to Viva as she sat the pumpkin down for her, which she eat quickly. Her side door opened, John Dory and Spruce stepped out.
"The boys are back in town!" JD announced, stretching his arms out like he made some grand entrance. "Did y'all miss us?" He asked his brothers and the girls, Spruce and him coming down the steps.
"Of course!" Poppy said as she and the others came over to take turns giving them both a hug.
"How goes things?" Spruce asked, having given each of them a hug.
"Things are going good, Bruce!" Clay answered, giving him their bro-shake.
"Glad Brandi let you have the time to visit for the festival, bro." Floyd said.
"Yeah, but its just for the festival. I promised her I'd head back in the morning."
"No problem." Viva said. "Hair-o-ween is going to be tons of fun anyway."
"Hey John, when you come into town can you please make sure Rhonda's eaten something prior?" Storm asked. "Parties like these tend to have a lot of food, among other things." Referring to the hay. "I know she has low self-control when it comes to food and can eat plenty."
"I dunno, she usually eats on her own terms." JD shrugged. Storm rolled her eyes.
"Well can you make sure she's eaten on her own terms before attending parties?"
"I mean, I'll see what I can do but no promises."
"You want to bet he'll forget last minute at the next party he goes to?" Thunder whispers to Branch.
"You're on." Branch gave him a light fist bump. He turned to the rest of them. "I've got a big plan for us to do. But we'll have to wait for a certain someone's assistance."
"Oh yeah?" Spruce got interested. "Who?"
"I think I know."
Everyone turned to the new voice. Poppy had a big grin when she saw who it was.
"Hey Barb!" She ran up and gave the queen of rock a hug.
"Sup Popsqueak!" She hugged back, picking her up slightly. "It's been a while."
"So, is she-?" Clay started.
"Yes, the queen who tried to take over the world, brainwash everyone, and invaded their homes." Korn, the dark red furred, mohawked tragon of hard rock came up, folded his arms and plainly said. "But who also already apologized, helped with reconstruction efforts, and has made peace with everyone."
"I was gonna ask if she's who Branch was talking about actually." Clay clarified. "But that's… wow."
"It's best to just get that out of the way and move on when meeting new people." Korn explained. "I'm Korn by the way. Barb's best friend tragon, bodyguard, roadie, etc."
"Wait, corn?" JD chuckled. "Like the vegetable?" Floyd signaled him to stop laughing, knowing it's rude to make fun of someone's name.
"It's spelt with a K." Korn growled at him. "It's the cool hard rock styled spelling."
"John, I don't like it when anyone has fun with my name either." Clay said. "Don't you think some have asked if all those years ago, you just wanted to mold me?"
"Ah, clay." Thunder said. "I get it."
"Still not cool." Spruce said. "But I'll admit it is clever."
"So how many rock trolls are attending the festival?" Poppy asked Barb.
"Most of them. We do love the vibe of this holiday. Most couldn't say no, knowing the terror troll himself is headlining."
"Okay but seriously, who is that?" JD asked. "You guys all keep saying the terror troll, b ut can't you just call whoever this is by their name?"
"He'd be upset if we revealed him to newbies." Storm answered. "He'll want to make a 'proper' introduction.
"Yeah, you guys not knowing entirely who it is builds anticipation." Branch adds.
"I am feeling the hype!" Viva said. "Look very forward to meeting him!"
"Poppy!" Everyone turned to see Guy Diamond with Tiny. "The rest of the tribes are all arriving! We're ready to kickoff the Hair-o-ween festival with the opening show!"
"So does that mean-?" Poppy stared to ask.
"Yep!" Tiny said. "The Terror Troll has arrived and he's ready to start the whole thing off with a bang!"
"Well, what're we waiting for?" Poppy grabbed Viva's hand and started running that way. "We won't want to miss that!" She gestured for the others to come along. Barb, the bros, and the tragons followed behind.
Hair-O-Ween Festival.
The troll tribes had all arrived and began greeting each other prior to the opening performance. Poppy and the others came along. She noticed King Trollex and his little sister in the crowd and decided to say hi.
"King Trollex!" Poppy called out to him, getting his attention.
"Queen Poppy, long time no see!" He waved and came up. Getting quick introductions out of the way to him and their family.
"You're the ruler of the techno trolls, huh?" Floyd asked shaking his hand. "And this is your little sister, the princess, right?" He turned to see the smaller, indigo colored, heterochromatic eyed techno troll next to him.
"Yes, my name is Gemini." She introduced herself.
"So, is he ready to go on yet?" Barb asked Trollex. "Been looking forward to seeing tall, dark, and boney again."
"The show will start any minute now." He answered. "He likes waiting for the maximum opportune moment."
"I'm sorry but did she just say 'boney'?" Spruce asked about what Barb said.
"Everything will make sense once the show starts." Branch answered watching the stage.
As if on cue everything went dark, pitch black even. The chatter of the crowd quickly went silent looking towards where they knew the stage was. Green neon lights lit up along the stage and a green pixelated skull was projected on its wall. A voice came through the various speakers.
"Happy Hair-O-Ween greetings Troll Kingdom. Are you ready to have a hair-raising good time?" The crowd cheered loudly in response. "Good to know." Four ghostly wisps then appeared, a red, green, purple, and little yellow one. The wisps turned into different holograms of ghosts wandering around the stage.
"Welcome trolls, from near and far." The purple ghost said.
"You're all excited, we know you are." The red ghost continued.
"The time has come, friends old and new." Then the green ghost.
"The party will be started, by you know who." The little yellow ghost winked.
"A techno troll of fun, and also of fright." The purple ghost came over to the audience.
"The true life of the party, this hair-o-ween night." The red ghost followed.
"A night spent with him is never dull." Then the green ghost. The little yellow ghost came to the center of the stage.
"Put you hands together for DJ Dub Skull!" It introduced, turning around as a DJ board rose from the stage.
The outer base of the board was decorated like a green glowing pixel skull. Branch's brothers easily figured out why Barb called him boney. Dub Skull had green, black tipped fiery looking hair, dark green nearly black skin, green glowing scratch mark patterns on his fins, fangs in his mouth, his most famous trait was his body's green glowing skeletal markings, skull patterned face, and of course like any techno troll a pixelated heart on his chest.
"Well, my friends both living and non-living. Let's get this spook filled festival started!" Dub Skull yelled in his mic, getting the crowd pumped. As Dub Skull started playing his spooky style techno music, Branch came up to Floyd.
"If anyone can help me with my maze, it's him." Branch said loud enough from the music for him to hear. Finally seeing Dub Skull in person, he got what Branch was talking about. Someone who happens to look like that. Likely is less than a stranger to things that are scary or spooky. They'd have to wait till after his set to talk to him though.
Meanwhile not knowing they've been followed for a little while.
"He's not the only one."
To be continued.
This was way beyond late! Obviously, I intended on posting this for Halloween. But a lot of stuff turned up. Such as my dog passing away. But at least I got to see Band Together and more accurately include Viva and Branch's brothers. Dub Skull, Princess Gemini, the tragons Storm, Thunder and Korn. They're all OCs of mine. I can't help including them in whatever fanfics I can. If you'd like to see what they look like, go to my DeviantArt page under my same username and look in my trolls folder. They're not hard to find. I might eventually find the drive to get back to my Trollantis fanfic. But Band Together has gotten a few other original fanfic ideas that seem awesome. One of which is on high demand on tumblr. We'll see how that goes.
Please leave a review.
