(Clementine's Pov)
I slowly wake up and place my hand on my head. I get up slowly and look around the room as I tried to get up. My head was pounding and I feel someone touch me on my back. I look up to see Violet as she looked to me worried and I wave it off as I move so my back was against the wall.
"Fuck, fuck I." I hear and look at Violet.
"It's fine… had worse." I say and point to my eye and she just looked to me. She placed her hand on my head and looked to it. luckily there was no blood, so that was good I suppose. I took a look at her to see she had some bruising on her face and I get up a bit and she looked to me. I place my hand gently on her shoulder and she looked to it then to me and smiled only slightly.
"Why did you guys come?" She asked and I see her frown a bit. Not out of anger but worry.
"Had to keep my promise… can't have the raiders take you guys." I tell her and she chuckled a bit and shook her head. I put my hand to her face gently and she looked to the ground and then to me.
"It's fine… I'm fine." She says.
"Your eye looks busted a bit." I mutter.
"I can still see, so it's not that bad." She says and I shake my head.
"No other damages?" I asked and she shook her head.
"No, just some bruising and aches but that's it." She says and looked to the cell door then back to me.
"Louis is hurt, so is Omar… Louis hasn't said a word after that." She says quietly and I nod and I kissed her cheek gently. She laughed a little and then looked to the door a bit and so do I.
"We have to get off… they hadn't started the boat yet have they?" I asked as I get up and she helped me.
"No, we might have some time to get off… only thing is how are we going to do that?" She mutters and I take a seat on the cot as she went over to the door.
"Is she ok?" I hear.
"Yeah, no blood, she seems a bit dizzy though." I hear Violet respond.
"Can she still, see?" I hear and I look to Violet as she nodded.
"Yeah, it's not blown she wasn't hit too hard." Violet explained. I get up and walk over to the cell but I stumbled a bit and I grabbed the bar.
"Shit Clem." Violet says as she helped me stand up.
"Minerva screwed us over." I hear Mitch says and I look to him.
"I know… have you guys found a way out yet?" I asked.
"No, and Louis Jesus Clem they beat the hell out of them." Mitch says and Aasim comes over to view.
"Omar is okish, he has a gunshot wound in his leg though." Aasim tells us and I look for AJ.
"Where is AJ?" I asked as I looked to each cell as best as I could.
"Right here Clem." He says as I see him come up next to Mitch. I take a breath and nodded.
"Ok they haven't started up the boat yet, so we have to figure something out and quick." Mitch says.
"The guards changed shifts after you guys came, sadly they won't change for another hour and I doubt we are going to be here that long." Violet says and I look to see the cell doors welded points. I went to grab my knife in my pocket and realized that it was gone.
"Damn it… they took my knife." I mutter and Violet looked to me.
"Yeah… sorry." She says and I look at her.
"It's fine… it's to be expected." I say and looked to Mitch.
"Sorry they took my stuff too… glad we didn't bring the guns." He says and I had to agree with this.
"I have my small knife." I hear and we look to AJ.
"Wait really?" Mitch asked.
"Yeah, they didn't find it." AJ tells him and I see him pull it out.
"You think you can slide it over?" I asked and he nods and then I hear something metal slide over into my cell and I grabbed the knife. I look to it a bit and then to the weak spots of the welding. I hit it a bit but stopped once I hear footsteps. I get up and hide the knife to see one of the raiders looking into each cell. I then see Minerva and Lilly come by and I glared at them.
"Back up." Lilly says and I look to Violet as she does and I look back to Lilly and I back up as well. Lilly opened the cell and Minerva walked in and then goes to Violet.
"Been a long-time hu Clem?" Lilly asked and I nod.
"Yeah." I simply say and she takes a seat on the cot. I noticed the gun in her hand and I look back up to her.
"Lilly, listen, just… let the others go." I tell her.
"I can't Clementine." She says and I take a breath.
"I offered myself, I have been in this situation, I know what to do." I tell her and she looked to me.
"Be that as it may, it doesn't work out like that… does it Minerva?" Lilly asked and I look to Minerva a bit.
"No… it doesn't." She says.
"Minerva turned into a fine soldier took some time but, in the end, she's defending her home." Lilly says.
"So, beating people is how you get them to work for you?" I asked.
"I didn't touch Violet if that's what you are saying, that was a different group member, and he has been taken care of." She says to me.
"How?" I asked.
"He was killed… but I hated him anyway, so it was a win in my book." She says and I take a breath.
"Don't worry, you all will be ok back at the Delta… we have food, water, hell even electricity." She says and I shake my head.
"They don't need to be involved in any of this, none of them… Lilly you know this is wrong." I tell her and she stands up.
"We have to Clem… you'll understand one day." She says and then leaves the room with Minerva and I wait. The boat then roared to life and I quickly grabbed the knife and hit the weak points to the welding again.
"Shit, Shit, Shit." I hear as I worked faster. I was able to get the metal plate off a bit and Violet helped me as we pulled it back so I could reach the handle on the ground. I pulled it up and then there was a slam as I quickly get up and see a guard coming over. I backed up and as the guard came by, I slammed the door right on them knocking them down. I see Violet hurry out and get the other cells open and I grabbed the raiders gun and checked it.
"Louis come on." I hear and looked into the cell as AJ and Violet were by Louis. Violet grabbed him by the arm but he wasn't moving from his spot.
"What's the point, they'll just come back." I hear him say.
"Louis there is a fucking bomb on this boat, we need to go now." I tell him. He still doesn't move and I look to Mitch as he went over and helped Violet grab him.
"This is not the fucking time to be doing this shit dude, let's fucking go." Mitch says and we were able to get him out the hall. I look to see the raider knocked out still and we head in the direction we came but I hear an arrow fly past my head and we turn to see Minerva.
"Minnie, the fuck is wrong with you?" Violet says and Minerva points her crossbow at Violet.
"You're fucking everything up." She says and I take a step.
"ONE MORE STEP AND SHE GETS AN ARROW IN HER EYE!" Minerva threatened and I look to her and stayed in place.
"Minerva, we need to get off, we have a bomb on the boat and if we don't get off it's going to blow us sky high." Aasim tells her.
"I'd rather have that happen then let anyone escape." She says and I think quickly.
"So, if you don't bring us, something bad will happen to you?" I asked but she didn't speak.
"Look, you can come with us, everyone missed you, fucking hell this group is not your family they are." I say pointing to all the kids.
"We can find a way to get Sophie just-."
"SHE'S FUCKING DEAD!" Minerva yelled as she glared at Violet.
"Fuck." Mitch whispers and I look to everyone.
"Minnie… please… just… just come with us, you were in this position, you were scared, we all are this… this isn't you, what happened to the girl I knew? The one that couldn't fucking kill Walkers for fuck sake." Violet says.
"I grew up." She says as she came closer to us.
"That's not growing up, it's fucked up, I should know." I tell her and she glared at me.
"I know what it's like to be trapped in a group that I don't want to be with, for fuck sake I was just a kid and I was beaten because we tried to escape, I would leave in a heartbeat." I tell her.
"I'm not you." She says and I tried to think of something, anything. The boat then rocked and I looked behind me then to Minerva. There was a large explosion that happened right in front of us and we fall backward and I hear a few people yelling. I get up a bit and looked to see Violet over on the side and I run up to her and check her.
"Vi? Vi fuck wake up." I say and she moved a bit and looked to me.
"Fuck." She muttered as she grabbed her head a bit. I look to see Minerva getting up and I quickly grabbed Violet and see the others getting up.
"RUN!" I yelled and we did. We fucking ran and went down the steps and I see someone in our way. I take this time to take aim and shoot the person killing them.
"Fuck." Mitch says and I look to him.
"Just go, I'll keep them off our backs." I tell him and he nods as we run and I keep a look out for any raiders. I had to shoot two more before another explosion happened rocking us all to the floor and I ended up dropping the gun. I feel someone picking me up and it's Violet and I grabbed the gun from the ground as we hurry off the boat just in time for a third explosion making me fall into the water with Violet and AJ. I quickly opened my eyes and saw Walkers on the floor of the in the water and I swim up breaking though as I coughed a bit.
"Fuck." I hear and AJ was swimming up to land and I look around for Violet. I see her come up as she gasped for breath and she looked to me and I nod as we hurry over to the land. I crawl up and coughed a bit from the water I looked around as I see some raiders shooting Walkers and we hurry to go take any form of cover and I lean my back against a rock.
"I see Ruby and the others." Aasim says and then I look to see Lilly and Minerva coming up from the water onto land. I look to see the Walkers all around us and I look to Ruby and the others.
"Shit." I mutter and I get up a bit and try to find an opening.
"Alright you guys' head to the horses, if any of us can't get to them then we head to the bridge." I say to them and they all agreed. There was a quick opening and Aasim, Mitch, AJ, Omar and Marlon were able to get through but Violet, Louis and I were stopped as a few Walkers got in front of us and we had to back away.
"CLEMENTINE!" I hear and turn to see Minerva and Lilly shooting at some Walkers. Some raiders were also being eaten and I look back to Ruby and the others as they look to us.
"GO NOW!" I yelled and Ruby looked hesitant but she was able to get the horse to run in the direction of the school. Louis, Violet and I were able to run in the other direction. There was another explosion but it wasn't from the boat and I look to see that someone was throwing grenades at the Walkers.
"Holy shit." Louis says and I shove him as we had to keep running. Walkers were all around us and I looked for any place for us to hide in at least but saw nothing.
"THERE A CAVE!" Louis yelled and he ran in the direction of the cave and we followed. When we got in, I look to see that the Walkers tried to get in but the path was a bit narrow for them.
"We can't stay here long." I say quietly and looked to the other two.
"This is fucked, what the fuck." Louis says as he paced around a bit and I look to him.
"Stop thinking that way, we just need to get back to the school." Violet tells him.
"Dude, you got beaten, we all did, fucking Omar got shot in the leg." Louis says and I crossed my arms.
"We're alive damn it, be glad for that." Violet says and I looked to the both of them.
"Fucking." Louis was about to speak and I decided to look around blocking him out as he argued with Violet.
"Guys." I say as I see a river and they stopped arguing and I pointed to the river.
"Help me find a way across before the Walkers get here." I say and they nod and get to work. I look to the side and find some cloths and a stick. I find some flint as well and lit up the cloth so we could see better in the dark.
"Fucking hell." Louis says and I look to him.
"What is wrong with you?" I asked and he looked to me.
"Walkers all over the place, we got fucking kidnapped, and then we find out that Sophie is dead, fucking Minerva could be dead too." He says and I look to Violet as she was looking around the cave.
"We didn't have a choice we had to find some cover to get on the damn boat, we couldn't just walk up and demand them to release you." I tell him and he looked to me.
"Then what about your brilliant plan of not letting us get kidnapped." He says and I glare at him.
"YOU… Jesus fuck you are a complete idiot." I mutter.
"What you got onto Marlon for it." He says.
"I OFFERED MYSELF UNLIKE MARLON!" I tell him.
"IT WASN'T ENOUGH!" He yelled back and I was about to punch him.
"STOP THIS BULLSHIT!" Violet yelled and we both look to her as she looked at us.
"Fucking bullshit is what it is, it happens so fucking deal with it, at least we got away from those raiders, now let's get to work and get the fuck out of here before those Walkers get us." She says and I nod as we get back to work. There was a log on the side so I go up to it and then there was a growling sound and I turn to see a Walker come down the river on a raft. It then floated down to the waterfall and I shake my head.
"Mind helping me with this log?" I asked the two and they come over to me and we were able to get the log to the other side making a bridge for us. I grab the torch and we walked across and I look to the Log as some Walkers were able to get into the cave and Louis and Violet hurried to move the log so it would go down the waterfall. We looked to the Walkers as some of them fell into the river and was swept by the currents and I head down the cave and look to see three different paths and I go up to one and look to see any signs of an exit.
"I think we should go down this one." Louis says and we go over to him and I can feel a breeze and nod.
"Ok, but if it's not an exit we have to turn back." I say and they both agreed. As I walking in front, I look around just seeing walls and walls of cave. It was a good few minutes before we actually get to the exit and I look to the side a bit as Violet looked to the other side. It was all clear and we exit out and I don't see any walkers around.
"The bridge would be in that direction." Violet says as we start walking in the direction. It was a bit too quiet for my liking so I stopped and looked around.
"Everything good?" I hear and turn to the other two then around the woods.
"I don't hear anything." I tell them.
"That's a good thing, right?" Louis asked and I shake my head.
"No, like no Walkers, nothing." I say and looked around.
"That's good it means we're far away from danger." Violet says and I think a bit and then we start walking again.
"Is that really how people act now?" Louis asked and I look to him a bit and I rubbed my neck as I looked to the front.
"Some people are worse like I said before… why are you asking this now?" I asked him.
"I just… how can people do that?" He asked.
"Because there are no consequences-." I stopped as I hear something and turn to see a whole herd of Walkers. The other two look and we hurry and start running to the bridge before there was a gunshot an we had to duck behind some trees for cover.
"I SAW YOU! NOW COME OUT!" I hear and I looked to the side to see Violet and Louis looking over to me. I take a breath and poke my head out a bit before there was another gun shot and I take cover again I checked the gun I had but there was only two bullets left and I shake my head. It wasn't worth using them if I can't take a proper shot. I looked around and then look from the other side a bit to see Minerva and Lilly as they were looking around. It seemed that they had covered themselves in the Walkers guts and I shake my head as I move back and then get up. I look to Violet and the others then point to my gun then to Lily and Minerva. I make a shooting motion and then point to them and tell them that they would be running once I take a shot. They nod at this and I quickly move from the cover and shot at them. They focused more on me and I take the final shot and I hit Lilly right in the head. Making her drop to the ground I see Minerva look to Lilly as the Walkers went after the body and then she looked to me and I looked back to her. She took aim and I take cover as she took the shot, hitting the tree and I take the time to run to the next tree and then take cover. I look to see some Walkers and then there was a yell. I look up to see Violet trying to get a Walker off of Louis so I hurry up and kick the Walker in the shin breaking it. It let go of Louis and tried to grab me but he quickly grabbed a rock and bashed it in the head.
"Fuck… thanks." He panted and I nod as we helped him up and there was another shot and we hurry to find somewhere to go.
"Were the fuck are we going?" Louis asked.
"We can't go to the bridge, with a Walker herd that big it's dangerous an too close to the school, James said there was a barn nearby and I know how to get there without going to the bridge." I say as we run.
"Minerva was back there and with Lilly how the fuck is a barn going to stop them?" Violet asked as we kept running.
"I got Lilly, it's just Minerva." I say as we kept running and I had to stop as we get near a cliff and I looked around.
"Fuck." Louis says.
"Wait, you got Lilly?" Violet panted.
"Good fucking shot." I say and looked around then there was a shot.
"FUCK!" Louis yelled and I shake my head and start to go down the cliff.
"YOU'RE FUCKING CRAZY!" Violet yelled and I look to her.
"JUST MOVE YOUR ASSES NOW!" I yelled at them and they looked behind the and start to follow me. I see an edge where we could stop so I go down to it and we press our backs to the rock wall I look up to see Minerva looking around and then a Walker fell down the cliff and we watch it drop to the ground and I push myself further into the rock wall.
"Shit." Louis says as he moved a bit to look but I grabbed him and pushed him back and then put my finger to my lips telling him to keep quiet. I look up to see Minerva back up a bit and then I looked to Violet who was keeping her eyes shut and gripping a part of a rock wall and then I look to Louis as he tried to calm down.
"She's gone, but just whisper." I whispered to them and I look to see Violet nodding quickly.
"You good there?" Louis asked.
"Fuck heights." She says.
"You climb the belltower a lot how can this scare you?" He asked.
"Dude, shut up, Walkers and this, fucking getting shot at by my ex who I thought was dead…. Not a good fucking mix." She says and I grabbed her hand gently and she cracked open one of her eyes and she looked to me a bit and I nod to her and she nods back as she opened both her eyes and looked to the front of her.
"Ok… now what?" Louis asked and I let go of Violet and move to see the edge.
"We can't climb back up, but if we do go down… well I don't know where we will be." I tell them honestly and they looked around.
"I don't remember this area." Louis says and I rubbed my head a bit and then go back to the wall and we decided to take a seat and relax for a bit. We looked at the senery and I think.
"We can head down and go east." Violet suggested And I look to the east a bit.
"Fuck that, we should just climb back up once the Walkers die down." Louis says and I look to the both of them.
"That is fucking stupid they can get us easily if we go up." Violet says and they argued more.
"What the hell happened to you two?" I asked. They looked to me and then looked away from each other and I shake my head at this.
"Ok what the fuck happened on the boat? You both had your asses kicked and you're angry at each other so start talking." I tell them and they still kept quiet and I groaned a bit.
"Nothing just fucking stupid stuff." Violet says.
"Stupid? You're dating Clementine." He says and I look to him then to her.
"Yeah, I know, I saw you two, you said it was bad to be in relationships and yet you date her? Her girlfriend is alive damn it." Louis says and I look to him.
"That has nothing to do with what's going on right now." I tell him and he looked to me.
"You can't be serious; you were more worried about her than any of us." He says.
"That's bullshit and you know it." I tell him.
"Is it? You worked with her more then anyone in the school." He says.
"So? Aasim worked with Ruby more than anyone are you going to get pissed at them? Are you seriously going to be doing this right now?" I asked him and he looked to me.
"No because I wasn't interested in either of them, I asked you out first and you told me no, then you go with her, when there was a possibility that Minerva could be alive, and she is." Louis says.
"YOU DIDN'T KNOW SHE WAS ALIVE AND YOU THINK I WANT TO BE WITH HER AFTER SHE THREATENED TO SHOOT ME IN THE FUCKING EYE?! THAT COULD HAVE KILLED ME YOU MORON!" Violet yelled at him and I cover her mouth as a Walker fell down the cliff and I looked up to see a lot of them looking down and then pacing as well.
"YOU TOOK CLEM BECAUSE YOU CAN'T DEAL WITH THE FACT THAT NO ONE WANTS YOU!" He yelled at her and then Violet tackled him.
"FUCK!" I yelled as I backed up from them.
"FUCK YOU MAN!" She yelled as she got a few swings in. I backed up more as they got close to me and then I get up and grabbed Violet off of Louis.
"STOP THIS NOW BOTH OF YOU!" I yelled and Louis went to the side. I shake my head and placed my had to my face.
"Fine you want to act like fucking children over something as stupid as this, we aren't dating anymore, THIS, is why relationships are fucking stupid, this is why I didn't want to be in one, because of this." I tell them and Violet looked to me and then down to the ground. I was sadden at this but I just couldn't deal with this, and I didn't want anyone getting hurt.
"HA!" Louis says and he looked to Violet who looked to him then to the side.
"LOUIS STOP!" I yelled and he looked to me.
"You think this means I'll be with you? Fuck that, you're no better than the others, the one fucking time I actually felt happiness and you just fucked it up because you're mad? So what I didn't want to be with you, but because you can't have one fucking thought in your damn head you think this is ok?" I asked him and he looked to me a bit. I take a breath and shake my head.
"Fucking bullshit." I say and start going down the cliff. I hear one of them follow me and once down I see that it was Louis and I look up but couldn't see Violet.
"Just leave her." He says and I glare at him.
"You two use to be friends." I tell him.
"She knew I liked you." He says.
"And I told you I want no relationship… for god's sake Louis she actually took the time to get to know me, unlike you." I tell him and he looked up to the cliff and shook his head.
"After we get back to the school AJ and I are going, if this is how you are going to act, I don't think I can trust you, I can't fucking trust anyone at this point." I say as I see Violet come down. Once she was down she began walking and I rubbed my face a bit at this. It was a long walk to wherever we were going, but I see an old ranger's tower and shake my head.
"Let's stop here for now, they should have a map." I tell them and they say nothing as we go up to the building. I walked in and looked around the room a bit and saw a map on the other side of the room. I go up to it and tried to figure out where we were. I see Louis as he looked around the room and I look to see Violet still outside leaning on the railing a bit and I shake my head at this.
"She's just moody." He says and I look to him as he looked to Violet.
"The fuck do you expect?" I asked.
"Honestly… I thought that if we were able to get Minerva to come back Violet would have broken things off with you… but… Minnie isn't coming back, is she?" He asked and I look to him.
"Doubt it." I mutter and I hear him sigh as I look back to the maps.
"I didn't mean what I said to her." He tells me.
"You should tell her that, not me." I tell him and grabbed the map and then went to the table and grabbed a pencil and marks off the areas we had been to. I look at it for a bit and find the area the school would be located and marked it with a star.
"Could be a day or two before we get to the school." I mutter and fold up the map and looked to see Louis leaving the room and I shake my head a bit and looked to see him going over to Violet. I took the time to look around the room a bit and found a knife and grabbed it. It reminded me of the same knife Walter gave Matthew. I take a breath and take a set on the ground my back against the wall and I could hear Louis and Violet talking a bit.
"Sorry for… everything." I could hear Violet say.
"I shouldn't have said what I did… people care about you back at the school and… I was just angry." He says and I looked to the knife a bit. I take a breath and decided that once we were back at the school AJ and I will be leaving once we know everyone would be ok. I mean of course they would, they know what to do now, besides we always have to keep moving, can't stay in one place to long.
"But you were right… after I heard Minerva could have been alive, I shouldn't have done anything… I knew Clem didn't like relationships but… it was nice to be wanted again." I hear Violet say and then I hear her sigh a bit.
"I… hm." Louis stopped talking and I get up and walk outside and feel the cold air and I shake my head a bit as I head down the tower a bit.
"What are you doing Clem?" I hear and look to see Louis looking at me as Violet had her head to the side.
"Just going to look around, make sure no Walkers are nearby, if they are we might be here longer… also I think we need some food." I tell him.
"I'll come with." He offered and I nodded and looked to Violet as she still didn't look at me. It actually hurt that she wouldn't look at me. Doesn't she understand?
"Sure… Vi can you keep look out?" I asked and she nods and then turns and heads inside the building. Louis comes down and we head deep into the woods and I messed with the knife in my hands a bit.
"Where did you find that?" He asked.
"In the Ranger tower… it reminds me of the one Walter gave Matt, back when I was in AJ's parents group, we came across this huge ski lodge, there was a little cabin over by the bridge and there was a man there… well a man named Nick shot him… turned out he was with an old friend of mine… it was just a bad day." I tell Louis.
"What… what happened?" He asked.
"It's the same day Carver came and took us… he shot Walter right in the head no hesitation, then he was going to shoot Alvin… AJ's father… I don't like remembering that day because I had Kenny asking me to join his group and Luke thinking I would stay with their group… I was eleven, and I found someone who I thought was dead for so long… the last person I could talk about Lee too." I tell him as I gripped the knife tightly.
"It doesn't matter anyway, I'm the last of my old group." I mutter as we see a river and I looked for a stick and Louis hands me one and the rope part of his trench coat. I take it and wrap the knife onto the stick and we stayed by the river till we got at least three fish.
"You don't have to leave you know." He says and I look to him as we used the rope to tie the fish and I sheathed the knife.
"I've made up my mind, AJ and I will be leaving, that's final." I tell him and he looked to me.
"But… don't you care about Violet? At least a little?" He asked and I stopped walking and looked to him.
"How can you even ask that Louis? The… the fact that she was the one person to make me break one of my own rules, and you think I don't care about her?" I asked him and he looked to the ground and I shake my head and we began walking again. When we see the tower I see Violet with some binoculars as she looked around the area and then she looks to us and sets the binoculars down. We go up the steps and I handed Louis the fish and he nods as he goes to clean them and I go over to Violet who had picked up the binoculars again and was looking around.
"See anything?" I asked. She sets the binoculars down and shakes her head and then looked to the side and away from me. I rubbed the back of my neck at this and looked to the woods as I looked around. There was a hawk sound and I looked to see said hawk as it landed on a tree. I suppose that's where it's nest was.
"I'm sorry." She says quietly and I look to her.
"Don't be… I broke my rule knowing this could have happened." I tell her and she messed with the string on the binoculars and then sighed.
"But I knew about your rule, I should have never asked you to… I know I didn't ask you out but I still shouldn't have done that… and I'm sorry for it." She tells me and I just nod at this.
"It'll be fine… AJ and I will be gone in a few days maybe a week." I tell her and I look to see her gripping the railing a bit with her free hand. I look to her as she looked to the woods and I look to them as well.
"You don't have too… I won't fight with Louis anymore." She says and I shake my head.
"It has nothing to-."
"I know it has to deal with the fact that Louis and I fought… don't try and lie about it." She says quietly and I look to her a bit as she looked to me and I looked back to the woods.
"I'm also not use to being somewhere for so long." I stated.
"I know but… everyone at the school likes you and AJ… and think about how Tenn would feel when AJ is gone… they act like brothers… I haven't seen him smile that much in over a year." Violet says and I look to her a bit and I take a breath.
"AJ and Tenn. can say their goodbyes." I tell her.
"I… Could you at least visit us?" She asked and I think a bit and nod. Though to be fair I was lying to her, it would be best if we didn't come back. Louis says he's done with the fish and we go into the cabin and I go to the little gas stove and we get it to work after a few tries. We cooked up the fish and once everyone had their own fish we just sat in silents. None of us touched our food and I looked to the other two and then to the floor where we sat. there were some Walkers growling but none had decided to come up to the ranger tower but I get up setting the fish to the side as I locked the door and then Violet and Louis got up and helped push the desk to the door. we all took a seat our backs against the desk and I looked to the window a bit as I take a deep breath. I then hear one of them shift and looked through the desk and I look to see that Louis had found some cigarettes and he drops them to the side and I picked them up. I remember Bonnie as she let me have one and I opened the pack to see four of them. I then put one in my mouth and grabbed the matches we found lighting it up and I take a breath.
"You smoke?" Violet asked and I chuckled.
"I stopped a while back but… right now I think I need one." I tell her honestly and she looked to the side a bit and I shrugged and Louis took a seat.
"How many are left?" She asked.
"Three." I say and I look to her and she looked to the pack a bit and I offered one to her. She takes it and I light up a match for her and light up her cigarette and she inhales a bit of the smoke then exhaled.
"Fuck it… could I have one too?" Louis asked and I nod and do the same for him. We just sat and smoked our cigarettes in silence and I lean my head back a bit and look to the ceiling. I flicked the ashes to the side and then took another inhale and exhale of the smoke. We ended up eating our dinner and Louis had gone to bed Violet was over by the window as she had it opened and I watch her as she goes out the window a bit and onto the deck and over to the railing where she leaned on it. I look to the side a bit and then go over to the window and follow her out and stood next to her.
"You should get some rest." She says to me.
"I'll have time to sleep later… why are you out here?" I asked and she shrugged.
"Fresh air… and to think." She says and I nod at this. I look to the woods and looked to see the Walkers on the ground.
"It's… not uh… safe you know." I say and look to her as she was looking to the woods.
"I know… but I just needed the air." She tells me and I nod again and looked back to the woods.
"You know… people tend to think a lot on how they would die." She says out of random and I look to her a bit.
"I thought I'd go in my sleep… it'd be a nice way I think." She says and I look to the woods and I listened to the Walkers.
"But you'd be a Walker." I stated and she takes a breath and nods.
"Yeah but… I don't think I would know." She says and I shake my head.
"Stupid." I mutter. I hear her laugh a little and then I look to her as she put her hand to her face.
"I know right?" She laughed and I shake my head and think.
"I never thought on how I would die… I just worry for people I'm near… if I was with AJ I told him he had to shoot me... or bash my head in, whatever he could do so I wouldn't bite him." I tell her.
"Poor kid." She says and I nod.
"But that's the life we've been given… I hope he doesn't have to take me out… that I can do it on my own… I just know I don't want to be a Walker." I tell her and then took the cap off my head and looked to the blood and mud on it.
"Only the crazy people want to be Walkers." She says and I had to agree with her. I put the cap back on and take a deep breath.
"What has you thinking about death right now?" I asked.
"Lots of things… I mean I thought Minerva was dead but she isn't… Sophie is dead… Brody… all the other kids… why am I still here?" She asked and we look to each other.
"I didn't think I would live this long… and I just… feel like I shouldn't be… not saying I'm suicidal cause I'm not it's just… why?" She asked and I think.
"Survivors Guilt is what it's called… you wonder why you're alive while others are dead… I have the same feeling too… out of all the groups I've been in, I wonder the same thing… or how I could wish I could turn back time and make things different… wish I could have stopped from going with the stranger, Lee would be alive, If I just kept my gun Omid would still be alive too… why do I get to live while others die, makes no sense is all." I stated and then pulled out the cigarette pack and looked at the last one. I take it out and light it up and take a breath and then look to Violet and offered it to her and she nods as she takes it and then inhales some smoke and then passes it back to me. We share the cigarette in silence and I look to see some of the Walkers bump into each other.
"Wish I had my guitar." She says quietly and I nod. I missed listening to her play.
"I'm sorry you and Louis fought." I tell her.
"Not your fault… just us being stupid is all." She says as she took a drag of the cigarette and then handed it back to me.
"But if I hadn't… I shouldn't have done what I did." I tell her.
"Eh I'm not blameless to you know." She tells me.
"But I started it." I tell her.
"And I continued it." She says and I rubbed the side of my head a bit.
"Don't blame yourself." She says and I shake my head. We headed back inside the ranger tower and I went over to the desk and put my back to it as did Violet. It was cold and I hated it. I feel a jacket being placed on me and I look to see Violet already crossing her arms with her eyes closed. I looked to the jacket a bit and moved a little closer to her as we finally drifted off to sleep.
I was woken up by slight movement and turned my head a bit to feel something warm touching my face and I slowly open my eye to see I had my head placed by Violets neck. I move in a little more to feel the warms and then I heard her talking.
"Louis just drop it." I hear her whisper.
"I just… I didn't mean to hurt you." He whispers back.
"It's done and over with… it happened." She says and I close my eye again and I feel her put her arm around me.
"What about Minerva?" Louis asked.
"You really want me to get back with her? After she threatened to kill me?" Violet asked.
"Maybe she can change back?" He asked and I feel Violet shake her head.
"It's not like Clem is staying with us anyway so there's no reason to try and be with her… I think she even lied about visiting us." She says quietly and I have to admit, it hurt knowing she probably knew I wasn't going to come back. I hear her take a deep breath and I shift a bit.
"And if Minerva is still out there… she's basically hunting us down, for fuck sake Louis the boat is gone, and I doubt she would go back to that group empty handed." Violet tells him.
"What if she wants to come back to the school?" He asked and I feel Violet shrug at this.
"I don't know." She tells him.
"I really don't know, all I know is that, that's not the Minerva we knew, and I don't think she'll be the same ever again." Violet tells him.
"Don't you feel bad for her?" He asked her.
"Yes, I do feel bad, why would you think I don't?" She asked.
"Because you easily left her." He says to her and she stopped talking for a while.
"I thought she was dead… I mourned for her; I got over the fact that she was gone… am I not allowed to do that?" I hear her ask him.
"I'm not saying you can't but you should have been happy that she was alive." He says.
"I'm not… because of what Clem has told us, think of all the awful thinks she had to experience… her own sister is dead how would you feel if your sibling was dead? What if she saw Sophie die? What if it's was like us and she didn't get the chance to say goodbye? Plus, how long ago did Sophie pass? It could have been last week for all we know, and Minerva is probably still mad or sad about this." She tells him.
"She's probably suffered so much while out there, I don't even want to think about it." She says and I finally decided to move a bit and act as if I just woke up.
"Morning." I hear and look to Violet and nodded a bit. I handed her, her jacket back and she nods and puts it on and I get up slowly from my spot on the ground. I look to see the stars still out but I didn't hear much Walker activity so I go and look to see that the Walkers have thinned out.
"We should get going." I say and I hear the other two getting up. We grabbed any useful supplies and I grabbed the map and set it on the desk and showed them the path we would be taking.
"If we keep going this way and keep hidden I don't think we would be spotted by any remaining raiders that decided to head in this direction. I folded the map back and we moved the desk quietly and then I opened the door a bit.
"We will get a Walker and cover ourselves up like last time, in case we run into a herd." I whispered.
"Sounds good." Louis whispers and we head down the steps quietly. I was able to grab a Walker without the others noticing and we covered ourselves in it's sent and then we began walking deeper into the woods. We reached an open lake just as the sun was in the sky, it was about noon and I take out the map and looked to see where we were.
"Do you think this stuff can wear off?" Violet asked as I looked to her as she was looking at her clothes.
"Think we should get another Walker? I never had to wear this for so long so I don't know." I tell her.
"It would be a safe idea, at least." She says and I nod and looked around but saw no Walkers nearby.
"Might be a while before we can find another Walker." I say and she nods. We began walking again and I kept my eye out for any Walkers or even humans. By the time we got halfway to the school the sky had just turned darks and we were looking for anywhere safe to stay for the night. Lucky for us there was another ranger tower so we go up the tower and I look to see if they had a different map. Sadly, though they were the same as what I had with me and I shake my head at this. We moved the desk to the door and I looked to the window a bit and then I decided to turn in for an early night.
