Chapter 6: Recording: Isobel and Jubal

It was Abby's idea. When she found out that Isobel speaks Spanish, she insisted on Jubal asking for her help. Since he can't say no to his princess, he found himself walking to the SAC's office.

"Uh hey, you got a minute?"

She looked up after signing some papers. "Sure, what's up?"

His hand behind his neck as he walked closer to her desk. "I need a favor and it's alright if you don't want to..."

"Jubal," she softly smiled at him, finding his nervous gesture adorable. "What is it?"

"Abby would like you to give her Spanish lessons."

Isobel furrowed her eyebrows. "She's struggling with Spanish? I thought you said she's doing great."

"No, she just wants you to give her advance lessons."

She leaned back on her chair. "Sure, when?"

"This Saturday, my place," he said.

Isobel decided to finish their lessons after two hours. They were staying in the living room while Jubal stayed in the kitchen to make them lasagna.

"Well done, Abby! That's so good!"

"¡Muchas gracias!" (Thank you so much) She then peered to see if her dad finished cooking. Seeing that he's still busy with the food, she whispered to her, "Quiero que veas algo." (I want you to see something)

A few days later, Isobel surprised Jubal during their weekly dinner at her place. "I just thought we could watch something tonight," she said as she led him to the living room.

"Oh, what movie did you have in mind?"

"Well, it's not exactly a movie," she giggled as she gently pushed him to the couch. She then grabbed the remote and plopped down next to him.

As the video played, Jubal was stunned. On screen was him playing guitar and singing with Tyler during Parents and Children's Day back when his son was in grade school.

"How... how did you..." he stammered as he turned to Isobel. He couldn't fathom how she got a hold of that video but her mischievous grin gave him the answer. "Abby..."

"She showed it to me during our lessons."

Jubal crossed his arms, giving her an appraising look. "You know I'm going to have to dig up something from you."

"Nope," she shook her head, "you won't find anything."

"We'll see about that," Jubal said, tickling Isobel.

After two weeks, they were back in the couch - his place this time.

"I know it took a while but it's worth it," Jubal said as pointed the remote to the screen.

Isobel's jaw dropped when she saw the very young version of herself playing Clara in their school production of The Nutcracker.

"Where did you get this?"

He smirked. "Well, you're forgetting that we're working with the best analysts and tech team in the bureau."

She shook her head while giggling. "Uh uh, they couldn't have found this."

"You're right," he laughed, "this was before the internet." Which earned a shove from Isobel. "Well, we had that dinner with Robert and while you're in the ladies room..." Which earned another shove. "Then I asked Ian to convert the video and put it in the flash drive."

"You're really sneaky."

He leaned closer to her. "You started it!"

"It was Abby!"

He placed his arm around her shoulder and pulled her closer. "Fine, but this was fun. I finally got to see little Isobel, the ballerina."

"And I got to hear you sing, Mr Valentine," she said with a kiss on the cheek.
