Chapter 16: Operation Contact

It was Thursday and, unfortunately, some students weren't at school right now.

However, it was not by choice.

Team Phantom was still not aloud of school grounds, but with the exception of the Mansons, their parents were trying to help clear their innocence and were doing the best they could.

However, such a thing was easier said than done. Even so, one unjustly punished student had plans of his own.

Tucker had been sitting on a bench in the Amity Park museum for a while now, now just looking at a certain scarab scepter that once caused so much trouble.

It was so tempting to take it to reclaim the power to use it to save Danny and stop Colette once in a while, as well as force her to clear their names.

But Tucker hadn't moved from the bench, he couldn't bring himself to stand up. He just stared at it...before he looked away.

"If it were that easy..." He thought, almost missing the power he once had.

He clenched his first, he hated feeling so conflicted. On the one hand, he knew that using that scepter is a really bad idea but on the other hand, he knew that time is NOT on his and his friends side and Danny needs help ASAP.

"Being stuck in a world based on Ancient Egypt's not looking that tempting, but not that terrifying either..." He thought, thinking as if he were placing all the reasons why he should or shouldn't on a scale.

It was so tempting to take it to reclaim the power to use it to save Danny and stop Colette permanently, as well as force her to clear their names and to ensure she didn't get the opportunity to do this to anyone ever again.

But Tucker still hadn't moved from the bench. He was just too afraid of the power and that it would go over his head again.

He didn't trust himself whenever situations like these arose, first when he gained ghost powers and then when he became a Pharoah, the result was the same and he didn't like it.

As a result, Tucker came to the conclusion that with great power comes great responsibility, something he currently wasn't well equipped to handle.

He understood that.

Right now however he didn't want to risk that at all, however, the situation is very desperate right now.

"I'm not like Hotep-Ra...but he's less a nightmare right now...especially compared to Colette..." He thought, almost giving in to temptation.

He barely noticed Sam walking in sitting next to him, also worried.

"I thought you'd be here..." She said.

"I see you managed to sneak out of home again..." Tucker said.

"Thank my grandma. She helped me sneak out, I got about 2 hours...unfortunately my parents are having a tele-meeting with the dean of the girl school prison the wanna send me to. Idiots..." She said bitterly.

Tucker sighed as his eyes glanced at once more.

"How desperate are we?..." Tucker asked.

"Much but not enough to pull what I suspect you might be thinking of. We almost got trampled by a sphinx, something I don't want to relive. Tucker, I know what you must be feeling but we're going to find a way to stop her. We've beaten Vlad and we've beaten every ghost whose come out of the ghost portal to cause trouble..." Sam reminded.

"Yeah, but we had Danny there with us..." Tucker pointed out.

"Yeah, but we have helped kick ghost butt without him too. Remember the last time Nocturn showed up, we handled things okay until he was freed..." Sam reminded.

"True..." Tucker said, as he nodded slowly.

However, the tech geek sighed and kept looking at the scepter, before looking away in shame.

"I feel like it's my fault..." He said, sounding upset.

"Why would you think that?..." Sam asked, confused.

"I can't help but think...that maybe if I used the scepter to get rid of Colette sooner, she wouldn't be turning our best friend into her love slave.." He said, looking miserable as he said this.

Sam didn't say anything, not for a long while but she eventually made a decision.

"I'm not Clockwork, I can't tell you the answer to that but no one could have predicted she'd go that far..." Sam admitted.

"She has even sunk to a level that I don't think even Paulina is capable of reaching..." She said, her hate for Colette growing.

"That might be the nicest thing you ever said about Paulina..." Tucker joked.

Though it brought a slight smile to Sam's face, the seriousness of the situation returned.

"I know it's tempting but you know what the scarab scepter turned you into Tucker. You're the only one who can answer if you'd be able to live with what you'd do with it..." Sam said.

Tucker considered what she said and decided it'd be a bad idea.

"So not that desperate... not yet..." Tucker said.

"Yeah...not yet..." Sam said, fearing she might eventually change her mind.

"I guess we should go, before we decide we really are that desperate..." Tucker said.

"Good call..." Sam said as they left.

Meanwhile

At Polter Heights

Stella was currently pacing back and forth, venting at her attorneys during a phone call to find some way to save Star and her friends.

"I don't care if you have to go all the way to the Supreme court, my daughter and her friends are innocent, and you're gonna prove it!..."Stella yelled at her attorney through the phone.

She was putting a new meaning into overtime as the lawyers squabbled away. They had been reviewing all the evidence constantly. There was airtight support on the kid's side, but they still were not convinced the case was winnable.

Stella, however, refused to give up and continued to find a way to save her daughter.

"Don't worry Star. I'll do whatever it takes to help you prove your innocence! And when I do, whoever did this to you won't escape punishment!..."Stella thought with sheer determination.

The blonde woman kept making call after call to anyone who she thought might help clear her daughter's name, all the while Pierre who was watching his mother with her cell phone, was playing with his toy phone and babbling away, innocently imitating her as if they were playing a game between them.

"Ba bwah bla ga ga..." Pierre said into his toy in a playful way, innocently unaware of what was actually going on.

Stella was momentarily warmed by her son's innocence before resuming what she was doing.

Jean Puke on his part watched what was unfolding with disinterest, he rolled his eyes in annoyance.

"What a waste of money. I don't see the benefit of Stella trying to prove her brat and those peasant teenager's innocence when they're clearly guilty, they should just accept their punishment and stop wasting everyone's time..."The Frenchman thought with a sneer.

He, of course, kept these thoughts to himself and wasn't about to let his wife know what he really thought of his stepdaughter and her commoner friends.

"I don't care if your superior is on a lunch break right now! DO YOU KNOW WHO I AM?!I am Stella Bevier, formerly Stella TRAVILLE! Daughter of RICHARD TRAVILLE! Yes, THAT Richard Traville...now I suggest that do your job before you risk LOSING it!..." Stella was heard shouting into her phone, while Pierre giggled since he thought the expressions she made were funny.

Jean Luc, all the while, rolled his eyes and took a sip of his martini. He swirled the drink to take his mind off his wife's endeavors.

He also thought about his own darling daughter and questions why she too desire the boy Estelle is with.

"I don't see what Colette sees in that peasant Fenton kid, she can do so much better. She is a Beaver after all..."He said.

His thoughts turned to therapy or perhaps sending his daughter to an asylum. No, that would not work. And he would miss her too much, as obsessed as she is.

"Not to mention, it would look unacceptable for a member of the proud Bevier family to be reduced to such a place..."He mentally added.

"Colette deserves better than Estelle's insignificant other, much less the son of an overweight idiot and his oddly attractive barbarian of a wife. Maybe I should introduce ma petit Colette to some more suitable peers and partners again...not for some archaic arrangement like that fool Loadman wanted...but hopefully having her mingle among her social equals again might remind her to recall her priorities. Especially in who she marries in the end..."He thought, valuing status over her happiness.

Suddenly his phone made a "ping", noise, Jean Puke grabbed it and saw a text from Yolanda, with a sneaky grin he replied, making sure his wife was none the wiser to what he was doing.

"What she doesn't know, won't hurt her...and will definitely benefit moi..." He thought arrogantly as he read her messages.

Walking out of the room, he began texting his "friend" back. Ever since moving to this backwater town, Stella had become boring to him, especially since she wastes all of her time trying to please Estelle in order to get her forgiveness.

It was one thing to see her child, but staying here was killing him on the inside. Of course, Yolanda kept him company, agreeing with him on how this haunted town is too crazy.

"At least someone here has taste..." He thought as he read the latest text from his "friend".

"Bonjor, my dashing partner in such elegant purple. How I miss you~..."Was written with lots of text hearts and smiley faces.

Jean Luc smirked and quickly wrote a response while also making sure Stella didn't see. It wasn't hard for him, as he has had A LOT of practice in the past.

"I've been getting better at this since my first wife..." He thought as he responded.

All the while, he ignored his current wife and son just to entertain himself.

Back with Sam and Tucker

The two teens had left the museum and were still considering the other options that they had.

Though they weren't a lot and one of them was still unsure of a certain ally of theirs.

"Lets just hope recruiting Misty was a good idea. I still don't trust her..." Sam said, frowning.

"Better than the scepter..." Tucker said, still afraid of that incident.

"True..." Sam admitted reluctantly. "Still feeling guilty about that?..."She asked.

"Yeah..." He nodded, eyes darting away.

"Come on, Jazz and the others are waiting for us..." Sam said, helping Tucker to his feet.

"Sure thing. We haven't a minute to waste..." Tucker said.

"Nope, we don't..." Sam said.

"But... if worse come to worse..." Tucker went, gesturing to the museum behind them.

"If that happens... we'll make it through it. You're not as annoying obsessive as people think you are..." Sam said.

"Thanks...I think..." Tucker said.

"You know what I mean. You are a good guy and you aren't who that stupid mummy tried to trick you into becoming. And even someone as awful as Colette isn't gonna make you sink to that level...not if I can help it..." Sam said earnestly, earning a smile from her tech obsessed friend.

Suddenly the techno geek turned and gave Sam a hug, which surprised her as stayed stiff from the situation.

"Thanks Sam, you're a good friend..." He said.

The goth didn't respond at first before she hugged him back.

"Well, someone's got to watch yours and Danny's back and I suppose it'll have to be me..." Sam said with fake exasperation in her voice before the two friends separated and headed out.

However, Sam had a notably warm smile on her face that she made sure Tucker didn't see, showing how much she valued even Tucker in her life.

However, she also knew that now isn't exactly the time for sappy, heartwarming friendship moments.

Not yet anyway.

"We really need to get to Fenton Works ASAP..." Sam reminded.

"Yeah, we should hustle. Jazz mentioned that Star is still pretty frazzled and I don't wanna risk setting her off, especially in the mood she is in right now..." Tucker said, knowing how short temper she can be and not wanting to risk becoming a target.

Sam nodded, and they soon left together.

Later

A quick scooter ride later, and Tucker arrived at Fenton Works where Jazz Star and Valerie were waiting for them.

Misty wasn't there since she HADN'T been suspended... though that was because Colette didn't know she was a sorta probationary member of Team Phantom and that she sent to a different school.

Also it was a school day and she couldn't miss it. Even mellowed now, her mother still expected her to attend classes on time if she could help it.

Baby steps...

Anyway, they went inside Fenton Works and the others were already there, impatiently waiting to get started.

"Where were you guys?..." Star asked, noticing Tucker was off.

Valerie noticed too and the techno geek sighed.

"Sorry, I was dealing with some stuff...and half considered using an old bad idea out of desperation until Sam talked me out of it..." Tucker said, glad to avoid crossing that line again.

"What does that mean?..." Val asked.

"Long story, no time to tell..." Sam said, since they had more important matters to attend to.

"Right, now it's not the time. Now's the time to act..." Star said, wanting to get back to more important things.

Such as saving her boyfriend from her arch enemy!

"Okay, so what's the plan?..." Tucker asked.

"Right now, our parents went to a meeting with the police to tell them that someone's framing us...so the police are probably going to launch a quiet investigation..." Jazz reported.

"That doesn't get us back into school or outs the witch..." Valerie added.

"No, but it'll help and when Colette does get outed, she's going to be in BIG trouble...I hope..." Star said, not sure if the cops will find evidence or not.

"I noticed that there's no " if" in this..." Sam said with crossed arms. "It's when and it has to be soon, we're not going to let Colette win, she's going to pay one way or another!..." She added.

"Definitely..." Star responded.

While she spoke, a certain tech geek thought about something.

"What I want to know is how Colette became so good at using photoshop..." Tucker wondered.

"What do you mean?..." Star asked.

"I didn't get that good look at the pictures but I know that it wasn't an amateur job. It's probably someone's working with Colette..." Tucker theorized.

Star scoffed at that pretty much the only person who worked with Colette was Paulina but even as spoiled mean shallow and nasty as Paulina was, even she wouldn't go this far as Colette was.

"It's not Paulina, that's for sure. She can't even edit pictures on her own laptop to save her life..." Star said, recalling how dim her former friend was.

"Why am I not surprised?..." Sam said with an eye rolled before the blonde girl continued.

"No, the photo shop was admittably good, it was no amateur job. Whoever she's working with, it's someone she's paying..." Star said, wondering who Colette knew who was that good.

The others saw her point but before anyone could begin speculating on who she was paying, Skulker phased in, much to their shock.

"Greetings, whelp's friends..." Skulker's said with a grin.

Team Phantom gasped, and glared at him while Valerie summoned her suit, while the rest pulled out their weapons.

Skulker!? What the heck do you want?!…"Star drew her ectosaber.

"Either way, you're just the misplaced anger management I need…"Valerie added.

She was ready to fight and so were the others.

"Who am I? The Box Ghost?…" Skulker growled before clearing his throat, holding his hands up as he came inside the room.

"But that's for another fight..." He said, not willing to fight.

"Don't move, Metal Head! I got days worth of misplaced aggression to vent and your just the target I need!..." Valerie said, ready to vaporize him.

"Relax, Red Huntress! I'm here because the ghost child asked me to send you a message…"He said, surprising everyone.

"Wait? What?!..." Star asked, while even Val was stunned enough to lower her weapon.

"Did I stutter? I said the ghost child asked me to send you a message..." Skulker's repeated, sounding annoyed at them.

Star blinked, disengaging the sword as she gave a bewildered face. Normally, this situation would call for slice first ask later, but Skulker's MO was more surprise attack and then relentless attack.

Still, the ectosaber was reignited. Just in case.

"So…Danny sent you…to send a message? And you agreed?…"Star asked, sounding suspicious.

"Surprisingly yes. I agreed to help and act as messenger..." Skulker said, though he looked displeased to say this.

The others looked surprised, clearly not believing him.

"I don't get it. You hate Danny and want to have his pelt on your bed, so why would you help him?..." Star asked, still sounding suspicious.

"Don't be confused. I vow to hunt and skin your mate, but right now, he's in trouble. The kind that interferes with our business and I can't have that..." Skulker said.

"Your business is to have his pelt on your wall. That's not exactly something he'd consent to..." Sam pointed out.

"That is true, but that French harpy is as evil as Walker if her plan succeeds and she turns your boyfriend into her possession. If she succeeds in turning him into her pet, he'll be weak and there'll be no pride hunting my prey at his weakest..." Skulker said, revealing his intentions.

"So Danny appealed to your ego... okay fine. I trust you more than I trust her..." Sam said arms crossed.

"Good..." Skulker said, as he pointed at Star.

"You fight with him, but someone is keeping him from going all out. I will not hunt prey that can not fight back unless it is MY doing…"The evil hunter added.

"Wow…that's surprisingly noble of you. Next time we meet then, I'll get you something in return…now, what's the message?…"Star asked.

"The whelp told me that your step sister has video evidence of his secret that she gave to her minions for safe keeping. He didn't say how many minions she has or how many copies but they exist..." Skulker relayed the message before looking to Star.

"He also says that he's sorry she forced him to break up with you in worst way possible there was some romantic drivel but I told him I wouldn't repeat it..." He said.

"To be fair, it'd sound less comforting coming out of your mouth..." Star said, not wanting to hear "romantic drivel" with Skulker's voice.

"Most things sound less comforting coming from his mouth..."Sam remarked as Skulker chose to ignore her.

"Here is a recording of the entire message..." Skulker said, as his suit pulled out a video projector and appearing was a projection of Danny.

Star gasped.

"Danny boo?!..." She went, smiling before Skulker cleared his throat.

"Don't get too excited. I repeat, it's just a recording..." Skulker's said, before pressing play.

Team Phantom soon saw the video message and gasped as they watched what Danny had to say.

"That witch with hair extensions is blackmailing me. She somehow has a video of me going ghost and managed to incriminate you and the others with photos, and she has copied. I don't know where, but start searching while I do things on my end to investigate. Plus, she is totally trying to de-Danny-me! It's a real nightmare..." Danny's message said, being blunt and to the post as possible.

"Oh, Danny..." Star said in worry while their friends also looked displeased.

"The moment we free you from your nightmare Danny-Boo, I'm taking you on a night out stargazing, you deserve it after having to put up with that parasite of a stepsister!..." Star thought, feeling disturbed and angry at the thought that Colette was trying to change what made her boyfriend so special.

"And that's not all!..." Danny said with fury in his eyes.

"Colette isn't just blackmailing me with my secret! She also has pictures of you, Starlight! Pictures of the WORST kind and she plans to post them online unless I do what she wants, this. Even if I destroy them, I'm sure she has more!. So guys, be alert, she's not playing around, she's willing to do anything to get her way, so whatever you have planned, please be careful!..."Was heard before the recording stopped.

Star was speechless for a moment, until something he said caught her attention...and not in the good way.

"Pictures?! What kind of pictures?!..." Star asked, angrily.

"The whelp didn't tell me, but given the context, I doubt they are flattering..." He said, as the video ended.

"Why am I not surprised?..." Jazz asked with contempt. "This is typical behavior of a sociopathic control freak! She'll do whatever it takes to make sure Danny is obedient to her or else..."She added.

"The only thing she's missing is a shock collar..." Sam said while Star looked ready to tear someone's head off right now.

"Uh... guys?..." Tucker went, getting their attention.

"Maybe avoid saying things that make Star look like she'll maul someone like a rabid dog?..." He asked while gesturing to Star.

He wasn't far off as she really did look that mad right now.

"That's psychotic little witch! When I get my hands on her, she's dead!..." Star raged.

"I'm very tempted to hunt her just to get her out of our hair. Though, there's no sport in that since she is clearly a weakling..."Skulker said.

"How about you don't go that far?..."Tucker said.

"As angry as we all are, I think we can all agree that if there's someone we don't want to come back as a ghost, it is Colette. She's dangerous enough as it is, we don't want her coming back with ghost powers..." He said, recalling the Empress What's-Her-Face incident.

"He wasn't being serious Tucker..." Sam said dryly.

"Doesn't mean he doesn't have a point..." Valerie commented with her arms crossed. "Remember when she had the power to change Amity Park to her image? Image what she could do if she came back as a ghost?..." She said.

Everyone else shuddered at the horrific train of thoughts.

"Then it's settled, we let Colette live..."Star said reluctantly.

"For now..." Sam hissed.

"Is that all? Or did Danny tell you anything else Skulker?…" Star asked.

"As a matter of fact, he also mentioned other methods she planned to keep him in check. Ones that hadn't been used. If what the ghost boy said was true, I'd say the witch has these hidden somewhere else…" Skulker added.

"It must be more proof to keep him in line..." Sam reasoned.

"Then we gotta make sure she loses that bargaining chip..." Star said.

"If Colette sent Danny's secret to her minions, there'd be a record of it on her computer or something. We could get it and delete it. We might even find some evidence to prove she framed us..." Tucker said with determination.

That gave everyone in the room some measure of hope.

"Ok, we know what we need to do and who we need to take down..." Valerie said evenly.

"The sooner the better so we can clear our names and give that French parasite a beating she won't soon forget!..." She added, cracking her knuckles.

"That part I'm looking forward to the most..." Sam said.

"Same here..." Jazz said, wanting payback on her brother's behalf.

"So, what now? Sit and wait for something to happen?..." Star asked.

"I'll tell the whelp you have a plan to stop her... " Skulker said.

"You do that. Danny needs to know that we're not about to let this slide. One way or another, we'll free him from that monster who makes Paulina seem like a decent human being!... Sam said

"For once, I agree with you humans..." The hunter ghost nodded.

"No one takes my prey away from me!..." He said in anger.

"I almost thought you were willing to help out of some kind of respect for Danny..." Star said.

"The whelp is formidable..." Skulker admitted. "That's one of the reasons why I'm here... To make sure he's around for the hunt..."He added.

"Are you sure that's the only reason?..." Jazz asked, suspecting that the hunter was unwilling to admit some sort of fondness for her brother.

Everyone else, was wondering the same thing. Skulker looked away, clearly unwilling to admit such a thing.

"Don't come to such idiotic conclusions. This is a one time thing and that's it. As soon as that brat is dealt with, the hunt is back on..." Skulker's said.

"We figured as much. Whatever, all that matters is stopping Colette..." Star said.

"Question, is there a chance that this girl is related to Plasmius?..." The hunter ghost asked.

"No, but you see how similar they are too?..." Star asked.

Skulker nodded.

"I think everyone here can see the similarities..." Tucker said dryly "And they're not very flattering..." He muttered.

"Indeed, this sounds exactly like something Plasmius would do... only without murder..." Skulker reported.

"Speaking of the cheesehead...You're not going to mention what's going on to Vlad, are you?..." Valerie asked worried that if Vlad got word of her and Danny's friends working together, it could be bad.

Skulker shook his head.

"For now we're allies, so I'll keep this to myself. Besides I haven't heard from Plasmius in weeks and he hasn't paid me yet for my last job. So I dont owe him anything..." He said, looking bitter.

"So, you don't know where he is either?..." Tucker asked, thinking Puck is still punishing the fruitloop.

"The last I heard, he was going to New York or something. I don't know the details..." Skulker said.

"Works for us...we already have our hands full with one fruitloop. We don't need a second one getting in the way..." Star muttered.

"Since my work is done. I will be off. The sooner the whelp is free from that menace, the sooner I can hunt him..." Skulker said.

"Ok, we need to get back to figuring out a plan and rescue Danny. And Skulker…thanks…"Star smiled.

"Don't get mushy on me, I am doing this strictly for myself...but if you want to thank me, make sure the hero can fight at full strength after this. Until then, truce…for now…"Skulker said, and continued leaving.

He disappeared, leaving the room and the blonde girl and her friends alone.

However, he briefly appeared again, for a final message.

"One more thing...once this temporary alliance is over and I've taken the whelps pelt I'll hunt the rest of you..." Skulker promised before pointing to Tucker "Starting with you for all the time I wasted doing research on Purple back gorillas..." He said in a grudge holding way as he left, phasing through the wall.

"It's not my fault you stole my PDA!..." Tucker grumbled

"Forget about that, whose going to try and find the copies of Danny's identity?..." Valerie asked.

"Well I think we're going to need help of the ghostly kind..." Tucker said.

"I may be able to hack Colette's computer since I doubt she has any knowledge of the digital world but she's not stupid enough to leave such information unprotected, so even if I can find what we're looking for, I would need to find a way to ensure I don't get caught, otherwise Colette might make things even worse for us..." The tech geek explained.

"Maybe we can ask Misty for a teleportation spell once she is out of school..." Jazz suggested.

"Worth a shot..." Sam said.

Meanwhile as they started to think of a plan, Star was keeping to herself in her train of thoughts.

"Danny, we will find a way to save you from this…and make sure Colette can never do this to you or me again..." Star said, gripping her ectosaber tight.

"Now the question is…how?…"She said, thinking hard for an answer.

And hoping that her poor, poor boyfriend wasn't suffering too much right now at the hands of her hated step sister.

Elsewhere

Unfortunately, as everyone was trying to find a way to free Danny, the ghost boy himself was having the worst time imaginable.

There were some unfortunate business that he has no choice, but to deal with...with his so called new girlfriend.

After school, Colette demanded that Danny take her out on a "date", but it was basically a mandatory shopping trip...

Colette bought tons of new clothes for herself and Danny, which he was ordered to carry around like a pack mule and wasn't to drop a single purchased item or take a rest without her say so first. And she certainly didn't seem to care at all whether or not the ghost was beginning to get tired of balancing everything by himself.

"Why me?..."He grumbled under his breath.

All the while, he could only think about was destroying everything in the bags with his powers and then leaving Colette in a ditch somewhere.

He started to believe his friends would forgive him if that destroyed their chances of acquittal. However, Danny's thoughts were interrupted by a terrible sound that was worst than Wulf's claw scratching metal.

"These aren't the shoes I wanted, you incompetent sales drone! Bring me the right ones or you'll be fired!..."She yelled at a sales clerk at the 9TH shoe store they entered in the last hour.

"That's the 17TH pair she bought today?! How many shoes does a single person even need?!..." He thought as he continued to hear the annoying voice of his current migraine.

"This is a size 6?! I told you that I am a five and a half, you incompetent merchant!..." She was heard yelling, before ranting something in French while the sales person apologized.

Danny groaned in frustration, wishing to be anywhere but if it was Desiree who granted the wish, the ghost boy almost was willing to risk a faulty wish gone wrong from the ghost genie than continuing this mandatory shopping trip with the most hated redhead in history.

Danny was losing his mind as Colette continued to buy things and boss him around. He remained standing, because he wasn't "allowed" to sit down and possibly drop anything the crazy redhead brought.

"I think one of my legs is starting to cramp up too. Looks like things can get worst..." Danny thought as his left leg started cramping up.

"WHAT DO YOU MEAN THAT YOU DON'T HAVE THESE IN GOLD?! I DEMAND TO SPEAK TO YOU MANAGER! RIGHT! NOW!..." She yelled at another store employee, while Danny sighed out of mental exhaustion from all her yelling.

"Those people are suffering more than I am.. but not by much..." He thought in annoyance, as his "girlfriend" continued to frighten and verbal insult the sales clerk to the point of causing the young man to cry.

Once the manager came into the picture, everything else somehow managed to revert back to how it was about 10 minutes. Only now there was a random sales clerk breaking down in tears in the men's room, the insensitive French girl brought new gold shoes that she might not even wear and the ghost boy had one more thing to carry onto the ever growing pile.

In short, everything was still terrible for the ghost boy and the selfish redhead didn't seem to have care in the world for anyone but herself. Just like the daughter of the Mayor of Paris is the rumors were anything to go by but Danny sincerely doubted ANYONE could out-nasty Colette.

If there was any doubt in him before, there is none now. He was certain, beyond a shadow of a doubt, this girl was a sociopath. She cared for nothing but her own happiness, and was more than willing to ruin anyone's life for it. She saw him not as a person, but a prize.

And she continued to prove that theory, as she kept ordering him around.

"Come, Danny. We have much to do and so little time. After that, you may treat me to a meal, a proper one. I know a decent enough steakhouse..." Colette said.

"Wonderful..." Danny grumbled, as he clearly didn't have much of an appetite to speak of, especially after what happened at the last shoe store.

Sadly Danny knew that he couldn't refuse, or else Star, his big sister and his friends will be the ones who will get punished in his place.

"What I'd give for a ghost to actually attack right about now..." He thought as he was basically dragged away by her again.

Little did he know, another admirer was watching from afar.

"What the?! This can't be real!"..."Ember questioned, perplexed by what she just witnessed.

The ghostly rocker rubbed her eyes to make sure they weren't deceiving her and once she realized what she was seeing wasn't a result of her brain going berserk.

"Has Baby Pop gone insane?!..." Ember mouthed in horror. "That's the only explanation here!..." She said, wondering if she is seeing things.

Never in a million years did the pop star would have expected to see THE Danny Phantom holding so many shopping bags that belonged to the French parasite that kept bossing him around.

She also saw the look of misery on his face, something he's never had to express before and to such an extreme.

She's seen many emotions on his face, usually anger and smugness from their battles. But this was the kind of misery even Spectra isn't capable of causing. Ember was surprised to say the least, she was even more so when she knew Baby Pop had seen her and didn't even attempt to stop her latest rule the world gig.

... Mainly because the fake redhead stopped him by taunting the hero with her phone, all the while smirking evilly.

She did not know what that was about but Ember so wanted to punch that overly pampered smug face and clearly Danny felt the same way as he kept glaring at the spoiled brat.

"I don't know what's happening with you Baby Pop. You would never let anyone treat you like a dog on a leash, but whatever is going on, I'm going to find out!..."Ember thought, narrowing her eyes.

The ghostly diva went invisible and flew away, with a destination in mind.

... Fenton Works.
