Peter
Watching The Major run off to help his previous Coven's leader, made me feel some kind of way. It wasn't that I didn't respect Carlisle and his way of life, I just didn't care about him at all. Aside from thinking about who Jasper was living with all these years, I gave him zero thought. I could understand why, but I just didn't like it and I couldn't put my finger on it.
"This is such a bad idea" Charlotte said, watching Bella from the front seat as I drove a few blocks away and parked in the back of a mostly empty parking lot.
"Which part, pumpkin?" Glancing over at her, she gestured broadly with one hand out in front of her.
"All of it. Though a newborn transformation in the back of an extended cab pick-up is topping the list." She had a point. Never have we ever had a newborn change in a motor vehicle before. Usually abandoned buildings, the sewer, caves and in a pinch, the wide open prairie. Contrary to popular belief, baby vamps did get tired. Then they need to feed and take a nap. Just like real babies. Now that I'm thinking about it, me and The Major were just really violent baby sitters in charge of a baby wrestling ring.
"It's not the most ideal location, I'll give you that. I just have a feeling this is going to be the easiest part." Charlotte raised an eyebrow incredulously,
"Is that your 'knower' telling you that?"
"I don't know." I replied, glancing out the window. Sometimes I have feelings and other times I have urges. Like right now I had a feeling that Bella, Charlotte and the truck would be fine at the end of today. I also had an urge to go somewhere and bite someone. Both could be from my 'knower', but the latter is the one I had to act on immediately. Ignoring these things never ended well for me and mine. Ignoring it almost cost Charlotte her life. I decided long ago, I would never ignore one of my feelings.
"I should probably get going." I said, unbuckling my seat belt and taking a glance at Bella before leaning over and giving Charlotte a kiss. "The Major is gonna need me." As I was sprinting at human speed away towards the woods at the back of the parking lot, I could hear Charlotte say, 'Doesn't he always?'.
I followed Jasper's scent until it became concentrated around the base of a tree. I stopped to look around and could hear Jasper talking to another vampire. I crept around the area, keeping Jasper's voice in my right ear. There would be other vampires, and one of them I was gonna bite. The anticipation was growing, keeping a low profile all these years meant no fighting with anyone who had any chance of fighting back. Having a good fight with someone would be a nice release of all this anxiety and stress.

"What's taking so long?" A male voice asked, the hints of a long forgotten accent tinting his speech. This was an older vampire, and Peter would have to be careful. This meant, shirts off. Even though they were well within the tree cover, the sporadic beams of light would be enough to illuminate his scars among his alabaster skin. He carefully unbuttoned and took off his shirt, carefully stepping around twigs and trying to get a better read on where this vampire was.
"He has very strong ties to his coven members," The newer voice feminine and hard. "It will take time to make him more ambivalent." That was my snacky-snack! I took my time creeping up on the two Volturi vampires. Both of them completely focused on what was going on in the Cullen driveway. Finally getting a good look at the two of them, one was a brute of a man, like he belonged in a Conan the Barbarian movie, not in a stuffy outfit complete with a cloak. He looked ridiculous. How can they even fight with that shit billowing around them? They're not super heroes.
...
Well they did have super powers... I rolled my eyes and waited, it wasn't the right time, but I could be on her in seconds, and whatever she was doing to Carlisle would hopefully stop. They wouldn't try that on The Major, would they? I eyed the petite brunette vampire with a sudden urgency. Now was the time to strike! I ran at the two vampires, the bigger burly one turning just in time to see me right before I pushed him firmly away, sending him flying several yards away. I turned before the brunette could even register what was going on and I grabbed her by the arms, pulling her towards me as I nestled my head between her neck and bit, ripping flesh away with me as I pulled back and put my foot to her chest, kicking her arms off and sending her flying. 'That would take care of that,' I thought, while spitting out the piece of her flesh and chucking her arms in different directions. The other vampire had left. Rude, I hope he at least came back to help her carry her arms.
I turned towards where Jasper and Carlisle were faced off with the two Volturi vamps, and saw just the one and Jasper. Carlisle must have fled. I put my shirt back on as I ran up to greet them.

Alice
Watching Edward pace back and forth waiting for our rental at the airport, completely distracted with himself and his own thoughts to notice anyone else's, I tried to think about Bella and how her transformation would be, what it would be like seeing her again. Then I tried some more definite decisions. Seeing her in a week, that was far enough away that things could still change, but close enough that it wouldn't be too different from the basic reality of her future.
The sunlight was overwhelming in the broad desert of the south west, wild cactus in varying sizes dotted the landscape, as it sprawled towards purple and rich orange mountains. Presently there were several vampires, laughing and running through the landscape. Jumping over cacti, boulders and the occasional dry ravine, they were all clearly enjoying themselves as they exerted their powers to the limit. The sun hi-lighting the cherry red in the brunette female vampire's hair, matching the deep color of her freshly fed eyes. Another vampire came up behind her, his blonde curly hair bouncing as he tackled her to the earth from behind, both of them howling with laughter as they rolled in the dirt for a moment, with her ending on top of him. She leaned down towards his face, eyes bright with love and admiration...
"She's going to be beautiful." Edward sighed, almost wistfully. Even if Bella had remained in Forks, she still never would have ended up with Edward. I knew this, so Edward knew this. He glared at me as the valet finally arrived with our rental, and stalked over to the driver's side door. I wondered if he would have been a better fit with the Denali Coven, you know, cause he's full of denial. This was going to be a long silent car ride. For me, anyway. I settled in, putting on my seat belt and singing Celine Dion to myself in my mind to keep Edward out until we went our separate ways.

Charlotte
The time between Bella's heart's beats were slowing down, becoming irregular like her breathing. Still and silent almost the whole transformation, only thrumming of her heart as it struggled to live. Expelling the last of her necessary human breaths in gasps and pants. Her fingers twitching with involuntary movements, making me think she was willfully being quiet the whole time. Which was impossible, it was like being in a coma. Charlotte couldn't really remember, she was changed traumatically, kidnapped on her way home from work one evening. Her human life was mostly forgotten, though it comes back to her in remembrances over the decades. She remembered the shock and fear of being taken and changed, and then waking up even more terrified. And that was it of her before. Peter was the first one she saw when she awoke, and that would be that.
Then it stopped, and the silence was loud in the small enclosed space. Charlotte was tense, worried that now the true unpredictability of newborns would kick in. Taking a rapid glance around the parking lot and their immediate surroundings, she felt confident that she could grab her and hold her still in the woods nearby. They still had a few hours until the sun would set, but she didn't know how long Jasper and Peter would be, dealing with the Volturi. Restraining a newborn and tiring them out without biting them and ripping off limbs was doable, but a lot more work and noise than Charlotte needed in the city. Nevermind what would happen to her if she did any of that to Bella.
Bella sat up then, her eyes open and wide, the last of her humanity shining through her crimson orbs. She moved her head to the side to look at Charlotte, way too fast and looked surprised at the quickness. She blinked slowly, looking around with just her eyes at her surroundings. Cocking her head to the side and seeming less bewildered by the sights and sounds around her by the second.
"I'm a vampire." It was more of a statement than a question. She must have been told enough about what it was like to change from the Cullens to realize the situation she now found herself in unwillingly. Charlotte nodded, unsure how to respond.
"Jasper?" This one was a question, though Charlotte was unsure at what exactly that question was. Was Jasper responsible? Why did he, if he so? Where was Jasper? While Charlotte struggled to come up with an answer to the broad question posed by the fresh newborn vampire, Bella got distracted by something she saw, or heard outside of the vehicle. This actually relieved Charlotte, it was typical of a newborn to be easily distracted and flit from topic to topic, or to forget they were talking entirely. Normal newborns Charlotte could handle. This weird Bella vampire was unnerving. The way she daintily sniffed the air, like she was trying to figure out what that smell was.
"Where are we?" She asked finally, looking back at Charlotte from her second perusal of her surroundings. This one was easier for Charlotte to answer.
"Ithaca, New York. A few miles away from where the Cullen Coven has permanent residence." Bella turned her head then, towards where Peter had disappeared into the woods behind the parking lot. Her brow furrowed, concentrating on something Charlotte couldn't see or hear.
"Please open the door, and let me out." Bella's voice was strained, and it didn't seem like she wanted to go eat a human, but she also figured she could catch up with a newborn easily enough, and got out to open the door for the baby vampire. Peter did say the truck and Bella would be fine, he never said they had to stay together to remain that way. The second the door was open, Bella shot off like a rocket, following Peter's path straight to the Cullen house, Charlotte assumed. She slammed the door and beeped on the car alarm as she sprinted after her, almost losing sight of her as she disappeared between the foliage.
