Next up is a bit of a spotlight for Mew and a particular couple she thinks she can help push to that next step in their relationship.
Arceus for better or worse can't help but let her have a little fun.
Life at the Hall of Origins had been especially lively in these past couple of months. With an outpouring of new members, Arceus saw fit to introduce them to as many of the current associates as possible. His first and most favored idea was to throw a party. At said party mingling with at least one new face would be a requirement. Mew sulked at one of the tables, absentmindedly poking at a plate full of pastries. She was dressed to be on stage with Meloetta. A white popstar dress with pink highlights. She had even gone through the effort to tie back her overflowing pink hair with a cute bow.
Across from her the divine Equine sat. He was dressed in a formal white yukata adorned with a gold sash and intricate runes woven into the cloth. He was trying His best to reassure her that this was intentional. "Kitty, please try to understand. This is meant to be for some of our newest members to feel more comfortable." She grumbled at his explanation, lazily scanning over the Hall of Origins. About thirty or so members were currently present, surprisingly small for how many of them there were. While conversations reverberated across the Hall she couldn't help but feel that something was missing. This was a party and she was struggling to keep her eyes open. That's when she had a 'wonderful' idea, eyes twinkling with an eager glint. One that Arceus knew and dreaded the sight of. "Kitty, what are you planning?"
She assured him that she was just looking for someone to chat with, fluttering her eyes to the unconvinced Equine. She started scanning the room far more thoroughly. She first spotted Groudon sitting in a corner taking up as much space as he possibly could. He was occupying himself by grumpily chewing on a pile of sandwiches. She shook her head at the idea, he was far too big for what she was planning. Continuing her search, she spotted one of their newest members. The adorable ogre, Ogerpon showing off her array of masks to a crowd of eager spectators. She once again shook her head. Ogerpon was far too invested in her masks to draw in a potential match. Maybe she'll find a cutie for herself in Kitakami.
After she scanned the room about ten times, letting out a groan of defeat when she could not find what she needed. She was about to give up and return to her plethora of sweets. Until she spotted the ebony dragon of ideals moping on his own far away from any prying eyes. He was dressed in by far the fanciest black tuxedo he could possibly get his hands on. Not surprising given his love for theatrics. Now she had to know why he was all alone. Following his gaze her baby blue eyes shined brightly when she spotted the snow white dragon of truth and the two beings accompanying her. An Armarouge and Ceruledge duo, tasked with keeping her company. Only she was in her human form. Her long white hair had been carefully tied into a fancy braid. Wearing an especially fancy white dress that accentuated her hourglass figure. It was far fancier and more extravagant than anything Mew had ever worn. The two fiery warriors had reluctantly taken seats next to her. The Armarouge had fallen asleep and was currently resting in Reshiram's welcoming embrace. The Ceruledge however was speaking with Reshiram, Mew could not hear them over the abundance of other conversations so she had no means of gaining any helpful tips for her mission. Oh well, she was confident she had everything she needed.
Mew's cheeky grin spread cheek to cheek. With a swift motion she swallowed her remaining pastries and gave Arceus her pleading eyes. She needed His help for her plan to work and she knew full well how hard it was for Him to resist her charms. With a defeated sigh He relented to her demands, "Very well Kitten." With a ring of success she kissed his cheek and carefully tiptoed over to Zekrom. "You encourage her to misbehave." The unimpressed monotone of Giratina echoed across the table. He had joined them as the true peacekeeper of this event putting the bare minimum into his attire. He was not even bothering to dress for the occasion. Arceus shrugged him off, "Her actions have a tendency to work out so I have faith in her. Plus I'm curious to see where she's taking this."
Zekrom let out his disappointment in a long drawn out sigh. What was the point of being the very embodiment of ideals if he failed so miserably at such a simple one. He closed his eyes to better concentrate, to better think over what he wanted to say. He had envisioned a number of ways to approach her from the spectacular to the mundane. Yet no matter how long he contemplated nothing met his standards. His thoughts were interrupted when he heard Arceus announce that there would be an optional dance to the festivities. Special mention was made to find a partner you have not yet danced with. He assumed it must have been one of Mew's ideas to liven up the festivities. He contemplated if this would be the right time to approach her and ask if she would be willing to dance. It was a simple gesture, but he could not help but find many of them the most heartfelt. He was so absorbed in hypotheticals that he failed to notice the mischievous presence right next to him.
"My prince, would you dance with me?" His head jolted to the source of the noise and his hopes shattered when he saw the 'speaker'. Mew flashed him a cheeky grin and peace sign not unlike the numerous ones Victini held. Recomposing himself he addressed the tiny troublemaker "Don't play with emotions like that. You could get hurt doing so." He grumbled, casting an annoyed glance at the smug feline. When she continued to stick around he knew something was amiss. "Is there a reason you came to see me?" She said she just spotted him all by his lonesome and wanted to know why he wasn't trying to wow any of the new guests with how amazing he was. "I've already spoken with everyone I have not met before this evening." Hearing this she got closer to his face questioning why he was all alone gesturing to the table where Reshiram sat.
"No, she's doing fine right now. No need for me to barge in." Unconvinced, Mew rolled her eyes at his artificial insistence on politeness. She spun in front of him giving him the option to dance with her instead. "I appreciate the offer Mew, but I don't know how to dance." Disregarding this information Mew took his hands and proudly declared that she didn't either. Ignoring his protests all the way to the dance floor.
His cries faded into the background by the time they would have reached Reshiram's table. Even then she was too absorbed by the Ceruledge's current plight. "Well, having these blades in place of hands is still something I'm getting used to." the midnight tinted flame knight confided to the dragon of truth. Reshiram simply chuckled and placed her hand atop the burning blade. "Not to worry dear in time you'll be amazed with just how malleable fire can be." As she spoke she withdrew her hand revealing the flames had been molded into a fully functional hand. The Ceruledge could only marvel at the change made before her eyes.
Smiling at her progress Reshiram took notice that the Armarouge using her for a warm pillow had been stirred from his slumber. "I thought you were sleepy dear, is it too noisy out here?" The armarouge shook his head, his attention thoroughly drawn to the events playing out before him. "It looks like Zekrom might be having some trouble with his current partner." Both the dragon of truth and the infernal warrior curiously turned to the source of chaos.
Mew's dancing could best be described as flinging poor Zekrom around the room with reckless abandon. It had been a good few minutes since his feet had made solid contact with the floor. Mew giddily hummed along to the music almost in sync with Zekrom screaming to be let go. By this point everyone else who wanted to dance had evacuated the floor. All eyes were set on the central performance.
"MY PRINCE!" pierced through the crowd along with the indigo knight, charging across the room to rescue Zekrom. Hearing that cry and her footsetps reverberate, Mew grinned knowingly. With a practiced twirl, she spun Zekrom to the climax of the song and out of her arms where he landed in the protective embrace of the panicking Ceruledge. "My prince! Are you injured?" It took him a few moments to recover from his stupor, slowly acclimating to being on stable footing again. "It will take far more than some… reckless 'dancing' to render the unstoppable Zekrom inert…" His bravado struggled to remain intact, especially after experiencing Mew's idea of what dancing was. Said building confidence was utterly destroyed when a second song's tunes filled the air and Mew insisted they go for another round.
With the threat of Zekrom being left to Mew's mercy lingering in the air, the indigo warrior held her prince closely. "My prince, I think you will be safer with me for the evening." With the knowledge that the evening was safe from Mew's antics, the floor slowly regained the crowd it had previously lost.
Beaming with joy she gushed at the sight of the two cautiously taking to the dance floor. She was snapped out of her daze when she heard a familiar voice behind her, "So what would you have done had she not interfered?" She spun to Arceus, chiming that she was going to tease her over getting to dance with her 'prince' before she had the chance. "You're a devious one." She giddily agreed, taking more joy than she should have in her handiwork. "Care to dance with me instead?" She felt her face turn a bright crimson at his invitation. Her heart always fluttered whenever He made things romantic with her. Smiling with nervous joy, she shyly accepted his offer.
So this was my early curveball in terms of pairings when it comes to certain legendaries. Typically I will avoid the most common ones I have come across. So in this instance instead of Zekrom and Reshiram. I give you Zekrom and his eternally loyal Ceruledge. Their dynamic and personalities heavily inspired by the relationship of Zeke Von Genbu and Pandoria from Xenoblade Chronicles 2.
With that said please leave a review and have a good day.
