Disclaimer: I don't own The Mandalorian.
"Hey! What d'you think you're doing?"
Din's voice was filled with shock as he stared with a bewildered gaze upon his face lat the unexpected sight which greeted him.
The Mandalorian had just stepped out of the kitchen, carrying a plate of freshly-baked Christmas cookies. Now he was frozen as he stood in the centre of the lounge, gaping through his mask towards the tall Christmas tree before him.
Sitting at the very top, a cheerful look on his adorable face as well as a tiny Santa hat on his small head, was Grogu.
Din was stunned to see the Child at the top of the Christmas tree. How had he gotten himself up there? Did he climb? Had he liberated himself with the Force? The Mandalorian didn't know, but he was most certainly not amused.
"Get down from there at once!" he demanded.
Grogu didn't move. He remained at the top of the tree, having no intention to do as his guardian told him.
"You heard me!" Din snapped. "Get down from that Christmas tree on the double!"
Grogu stayed right where he was. He gazed from the top of the tree at Din with his shiny black eyes. A giggle escaped the child. He was clearly relishing how naughty he was being.
"I mean it!" Din said, sounding more and more like a parent scolding their child. "If you don't come down from there, you'll be having no presents from Santa for Christmas!"
At that moment, the tree began to wobble.
Grogu blinked. He could feel the tree trying to throw him off. He tried to cling on with his tiny hands. For such a small creature he had a strong grip.
Unfortunately, it was not strong enough as the tree started to fall over - and flung the Child off the top.
"Kid!"
Din was horrified to see Grogu plunging down through the air. It was clearly a long fall for the petite being with a painful landing waiting for him when he'd hit the floor.
Not willing to let that happen to the critter he was protective towards, Din reached up and whipped off the Santa hat he was wearing on top of his helmet. He quickly turned it upside down and held it out for as Grogu to land safely inside it - just as the Christmas tree came crashing down onto the floor.
Din jumped back as the tree fell to pieces. Decorations were thrown from its branches to soar through the air. Mando had to duck to avoid them hitting him. They flew over his head to strike the walls and floor, shattering to bits.
Once the carnage was over, Din straightened up. He gazed down towards where the tree lay on its side. It had been such a beautiful sight while standing tall and proud a few seconds ago. Now it was in a sorry state as it lay on the floor. Frowning behind his mask, he turned towards the little creature in his Santa had who was responsible for the mess before them.
"Looks like you've got some cleaning up and fixing to do," Din said. "I hope your powers with for Force can take care of the tree…"
Grogu took no notice. He barely batted an eyelid to the results of what he had done, for something more interesting had grabbed his attention. Jumping out of the Santa hat in Din's one hand, he leapt onto the plate he was holding in the other - before proceeding to happily munch away on the Christmas cookies it was carrying.
Din sighed. He knew it was useless to get Grogu to do anything whenever he was enjoying food. He peered back towards the fallen, broken Christmas tree, realising he was the one who was going to have to pick it up, put it back together and decorate it all over again.
"This things I have to put up with with this child…" Din groaned. "Merry Christmas, Mando…"
