Before We begin this I have something I need to mention to everything you are here reading this, hello I'm Dio167208 This is going to be my first story on this website so I hope you all enjoy. Note that this is a Terraria Calamity X RWBY, and also I have to distress this This story is going to be for mature audience only, because I have had this idea for a long time, things are going to be changed and Ruby will also change as well. There are going to be a lot of darker elements in this book than most others so please do not give hate, and also Bear with me. That way I'm able to give you all the best story I can possibly give, Now with this out the way welcome to Tyrant Rose!
Chapter One: Promise fulfilled
Cold and dark, a world washed away with shadows and dead, a life taken and a life given.
Silver eyes bleed into nothingness, a twisting mass of darkness rushed towards a helpless girl clinging to a corpse.
Cries were heard making mouths water and desire to feed blossom the world was empty, no salvation, no gods.
None of these heroic creatures or figures to save this soul. No heaven was silent so instead a devil took stand.
From the broken mass of flesh its arm rose, hellfire gave rise from its will and the creatures of darkness were turned to ash.
The young girl tired and exhausted looked up at its savior, expecting it's mother's eyes but instead it found something else, something darker, more twisted, a hellspawn in the eyes of the one who loved.
"Don't be scared, my little one." the voice was broken as two mixed to one. "I won't let this world take you, not after I've waited so long for this."
"Mommy?" The girl looked up as the fire burned brightly, but with the kindling of the flames she got flashes of red instead of where silver is meant to be. "M-mommy?" Asked the now timed girl.
But the hand of her mother rested upon her face, cupping her cheek as she brushed away the tears.
"Shhhh my child, you can rest, just lay upon me and know peace I'll always be here to protect you from now on."
"Is that true… mommy?"
"Yes, now till eternity, Ruby."
"Ok mommy… Thank you! Thank you so much!"
She cried harder and harder, tears bleed and sorrow flooded but the gentle hand kept her heart warm. She felt safe, and she loved that feeling.
The woman held on deeply ever so gently with the girl in her arms, a figure of grand importance to said woman and her desires.
Time went by and the girl could no longer take the strain and passed out. Maybe it was the smoke, maybe it was the heat, or the rush of emotions, or maybe all three. But at this point she was done with being awake and when she fell asleep the hand of the woman kept patting her, playing with her hair as all the fire and death raged on around her like a sea of torment.
The broken woman just leaned back against the blood stained tree, her eyes burning as she rested, blood flowed from the suit and she was just ever so tired.
It was falling apart, but no problem she got what she needed now she could let this go, if it falls apart so be it. It was no longer her concern.
All she needed to worry about was this young bean to get to safety and she was wondering if she needed to stick around any longer to move her, but when the sound of voice, all so familiar voices spoke out she grinned, no need to anymore now there would be her ticket out of here.
With a broken body now being all that was left the head fell limp, as two men arrived on scene they saw what was before them, a beautiful woman whose body was torn into by the beast of the night. Who's head and chest where gutted open showing the inner workings of her body, missing parts darted around and all and all the blond male fell in despair as he reached out but froze when he saw the girl clinging and smiling, he felt his world stop, tears flowed as he scooped her up and held her close. The grief was still here after all that now laid before him was the broken and clawed, dissected body of his wife, and the mother of this little girl but at least… at least one of them survived…
The black haired man joined in the grief, as both struggled to put words together, instead opting to take Ruby home and see what comes next.
Things looked grim for this family household that's for sure.
Time Skip a few days later*
In a wood cabin within the woods the resonates within where shedding tears of sorrow however the young wielder of silver eyes looked on… confused.
"Papa why are you so sad? And where's mommy? She said she would… be here, did she go on another mission?"
Tai, the blond man and the husband of the dead woman plus the father of this bean flinched, looking down he saw the girl unfazed which confused him, she was right smack dead in the freaking center of what happened hell she was practically COVERED in the incident and yet she didn't remember anything?
Actually…. That was a good point he should bring this up with her, looking upon the small girl and keeping his tears back as he crouched down. "Ruby…"
"Yes papa?"
"Do you… remember anything?"
"Ya! I do!"
The tone did not match the atmosphere as Tai flinched at her raised voice, he sounded happy, but also looked confused. Making his worry grow.
"So… you remember what happened to Mama right?"
"Ya! She held me and promised that Nothing would ever happen to me!"
"She held you when she said this?" The father asked as now he felt a sense of unease settle in.
"Yup! Though Mommy did sound a bit weird."
Red flag, red flag something was up, Tai fucking knew it at this point, quickly placing his hands up on her shoulder he looked her dead in the eyes as fear radiated like a poison spreading fast. "Ruby tell me everything that happened yesterday."
"O-oh well I went to find mommy sense she said she would read me a story, but I didn't so I went back from the tree house and as I was walking back I saw mommy coming back, so I went to her she smiled and asked if I wanted to go on a midnight stroll, and I accepted! We walked threw the woods talking about cookies and all sorts of sweet amazing things… then there was this strange noise, like zeim when he's angry but louder, but all I remember is black then waking up to darkness and glowing red eyes but mommy was protecting me! Though she sounded a bit weird, that was mommy speaking to me, holding me and protecting me from the flames and bad guys! But I don't see mommy anywhere anymore, papa where's mamma? She said she would be here with me…"
"Ruby." Tais' voice was breathless and shot, his eyes flickering as he removed his right hand as he clenched his fist. "Ruby summer… Summer is dead… she's gone , Ruby."
"W-what… t-that no! T-that can't be! She was there!! I heard her!"
"Ruby…"
"NO! I SAW HER SHE CAN'T BE GONE!! THAT WAS MOMMY SO HOW…." she began to shake as she fell but was caught by Tai. "How can… M-mommy be g-g-gone?..."
"I… I don't know what you might have seen Ruby, but summer is gone… She was killed by a Grimm." Tai said as he felt Ruby bury herself into his shoulder.
"But that doesn't make sense! I-i heard her."
"Ruby, you probably suffered from a concussion… the smoke and impact are probably the leading cause…"
"N-no that's not it! Papa I swear it was mamma!" she cried harder and harder than she ever had, "it was her! I swear it was her! She protected me! S-she did! How can mamma be gone when I saw her!" tears now freely flowed from booths parties eyes, grief was at its boiling point and Tai was trying to calm Ruby down.
He gently shook her, back and forth and Ruby was still squirming trying to break free to run away to find her mom, But Tai was stopping her and trying to help, though what came next caused him to stop entirely as something in the mirror made itself known.
A cloaked figure with red garms stood silently with the void where their face should be staring up at him with glowing red eyes. The strange thing is the way they held their arms out was almost like it was hugging his little girl.
Jumping back he brought Ruby closer, he drew his gun and pointed at the mirror, "Ruby don't look!"
Hearing his command she flung herself into his neck as he narrowed his eyes.
"Who the hell are you!"
The figure in the mirror brought their hand up and their torso convoluted like that of a laughing woman. Right hand rested against the shadow that hid there face as it's finger stitched up, with pointer finger over where lips she be Tai hear a faint "shhhhhhh" come threw his head causing him to fire at the mirror with his gun, the bullet punched three the glass mirror as fragments flew around him, but as they passed he saw it again, hundreds. and it was reachig for his daughter, Scared for Ruby, Tai jumped back out the door before kicking it closed.
"Dad, is it safe?"
"I… I think so."
"C-can I lay down?"
"Sure Ruby… go ahead to your room I need to talk to Qrow."
"Wait Uncle Crow is here?"
"Yee he is but for something else, head to bed I'll send him to you after I speak to him."
"Oh… ok dad."
Ruby jumped down and walked away, but she was soon dragged away by a blond older child who was smiling brightly at her which made Ruby almost forget the pain of having her mom supposably gone cashing Tai so smile at this.
But that disappeared when they went into the room, as he opened the door behind and walked back inside gun at the ready he looked at the glass and saw nothing… it was gone.
"What the hell?" reaching down he grabbed a piece and looked at it, nothing, no traces, no anything. 'What the hell was that thing? And why did it appear behind Ruby? Looks like I'll have to call ozp-'
The door creaked behind him making his hairs stand and him rise to thrust the gun forward making a black haired man around his age freeze.
"Ahhh… hey Tai, good to see you too."
"Crow please tell me you saw it."
"saw what?"
Tai looking around paranoid got Crow on alert as well, pulling out his weapon he glanced around the room confused as all hell bit followed Tai's lead.
eventually they found... nothing, nothing at all, no person no supernatural shit, nothing. an empty room filled with broken glass.
"ok Tai i know your sad and upset but dude, what's going on?"
"... sit, you're going to want to sit for this..."
nodding Crow sat and sighed, looking at where he sat he remembered when he and his friends were all here together, from Summer to Tai, all the way to his sister Raven... god he missed these days. much simpler and less weird and depressing.
"Now listen and listen closely."
timeskip after the talk*
Qrow was a man of action and skill, a man of drive and motivation, sure he had his bad habit but everyone did, and now as he sat at this damn table with the news of summers death now he has to put this supernatural esk creature on the list because apparently this family can't catch a break!
First of all, Qrow wanted to know why Ruby did remember! for christ sake she was in the "Arm" of summer! and yes "Arm" as is one, because she only had one!!!
She had a caved in skull, several broken bones, a missing eye, an unhinged jaw, and sooooo much more twisted shit it reminded him of a nightmare! and yes this "Summer" ruby spoke too was apparently alive for one, fully together for two, and speaking weirdly.
ya the fuck was going on!?
"So let me see if i got all this together. your telling me, my niece was in Summers arms, when that fire happened."
"yes."
"and she was apparently talking to summer?"
"correct."
"And Summer said she was going to "Protect" Ruby, right?"
"Again, yes."
"Tai, we BOTH know that's not how ANY of this should work, this is how NONE OF THIS should work!" Slamming his fist down the younger man just sighed, "pass me the drink."
Tai slid the bottle and Qrow began to chug it, tears were falling, eyes were bleeding and he just wanted to scream! But dammit he had to keep his cool, he needed to keep a level head. But with all these bubbling emotions it's so fucking hard to!
Gods above what was happening, first yang mom Ravens just ups and leaves, Summer comes in pops out Ruby and then two years later she's dead!
Ruby's seven! Yang's eight! Both motherless and with one abandoning their daughter the other got freaking killed in action, KIA!!!
Qrow at this point just flopped onto the counter, his spirit all but squeezed out, first his sister, now his best, and he's means Bestist friend.
Nasty soobs came as he had an ugly drunk cry, Tai joined soon after as he himself couldn't hold it back.
Unknown looking eyes looked at the adults and felt sad as well, but it shouldn't be the little rose you should focus on, now for those who have the eyes of that of ancient past, you would see a figure, a phantom, a nightmare.
With arms around the girl felt a warmth settle in, Ruby felt calm as she touched her shoulder almost like she was trying to grab a person's arm.
Though when she felt nothing it caused her to be sad, of course this happened, what was to be expected, it was probably just her imagining things again anyways. Like Yang always says she does.
….. actually could she have imagined all of that? Everything that happened with her mom could that all be a fantasy she made?
Wait, how could she be sure this wasn't a fantasy? She read that people dream before they are killed so what if this is just a dream!
Now she was hyperventilating, she didn't Believe this could be happening!!
'Waitsoamigoingtobeseeingmomheresoon?waitnothatwouldntmakesensemomisstillhere! Soamijustoverreactingbutitseemsthardadanduncleqrowareoverwelmedbysomething! Ohgodswhatsgoingonnnnnnnnn!!'
{Translation sense I'm not that evil… yet: wait so am I going to be see mom here soon? Wait no that wouldn't make sense mom is still here! So am I just overreacting but it seems that dad and uncle Qrow are overwhelmed by something! Oh Gods what's going onnnnnnnnn!!}
While she had her complete mental breakdown she hadn't notice Yang walking up behind her to which she was tackled and both tumbled to the ground, though as Yang held Ruby she felt hot, incredibly hot, like she was burning! It so bad she jumped off Ruby and was shaking herself trying to cook down, Ruby seeing the pain ridden face of yang looked down and wondered if she had something to do with her pain, had she caused it? And if so why? That was her sister, she shouldn't hurt her sister.
But she did, it was evident to even her four year old mind, she hurt yang, and that was a no no, a tabu she should never do.
Yang though was quick on the recovery cheesing grin and everything she went to her saddened sister and hugged her, this time gently not how she did before, "There there rubes your fine, see nothing wrong."
"... But I hurt you."
"No you didn't look." She had Ruby look upon her form as she flexed, making the girl chuckle at her goofy attempt to cheer her up. "Come on Rubes your fine, and you should rest after what happened with mom."
"But… but yang! Moms alive!"
"Ruby." Yang saw Ruby looking down with tears.
"She promised, I heard her speak, I don't have a concwssion or anything like that! I-i saw her yang! She's out there!"
{Intentional if your all wondering about concussion.}
Yang tried to look Ruby in the eyes but found it difficult, she experienced this lose but that didn't mean it didn't hurt any less, but Ruby… was in denial. And why wouldn't she be, with that much flame and death it could easily be buried deep down and her mind would believe her mom's alive, like in a fantasy story, after all Summer was Ruby's hero, and heroes never die in a fantasy story. They still live, happily ever after.
But this wasn't a book, this was reality. Raven walked out on Yang, showing her the cruelty of life, a mother abandoning her daughter believing she's a weak failure. And now it seems like little rubus is about to experience the same, so Yang needed to be there for her, that way she doesn't fall into that pit like she did.
Leaning over she placed her hand upon the girl who looked at her confusion at its highest she wondered what she should believe.
"Hey, let's head back and play some games."
"... Sure Yang."
The sister walked with Ruby's hand as they went back upstairs leaving the grieving adults as they tried to hide away from this, loading Ruby's favorite first person shooter and they went to work with a private match.
Though with her mind out of whack Ruby was getting trashed, making her pout.
"Yang! Stop itttttttt!"
"Hehehe nope! Lock in little sis!"
"Your so mea-"
'Ruby she's moving behind you.'
'Wha w-who said t-that!?'
'No time, you desire victory?'
'Y-ya! I wanna show yang that because of this I'm not some helpless little girl.'
'Hm, good. Aim to your right and shot…. Now!'
Ruby slammed the fire trigger as the body of Yangs character dropped and so did her jaw.
"Wow… nice shoot rubus."
"..." Ruby was silent as she went to hunt for Yang.
"Oh I see, locking in, then so shall i-" Yang saw her character drop as she saw the kill cam and saw Ruby shooting her threw a small crack between the window of the building.
"I didn't even know you could do that!" Yang yelled.
"Hehehe skill issue sis! Skill issue!"
"Why you! That's it I'm going to get you."
"Hmph, sure you will."
'Get ready, she's planning on heading up into that building head around towards the weird metal thing that's on fire and hide when she peaks, knock her head off.'
'Thank you!'
So with the voice helping out Ruby she was the definition of cracked and yang lost, sad part they played till 30, and she was 29, while Ruby prier was only 3, she got her assed handed to her twenty seven times.
Embarrassing but what can she say, Ruby was cracked.
"Damn nice going little sis."
"Yang, swear jar."
"What!? Oh come on! It's a compliment, Rubes."
"Nope, dad said you can't swear so swear jar yang."
"Damnit."
Ruby shook the jar again making Yang scream in frustration.
Timeskip two years later*
Two years, oh how time changes so fast in only a short while, how Innocence drowns in darkness, how bonds grow in the result of such and more to come from the event.
A young silver eyed girl pantied, she held a massive scythe within her hand as she looked at the older man before her, a man she respected and wanted to surpass. None other than her uncle, Qrow.
"Good, but Ruby I told you tighten up your footwork, it's far too easy to knock you off balance, furthermore I'd rather you not make unneeded movements with your scythe, it's a massive weapon so every single strike has to be to the point."
"I get ya Uncle Qrow."
"Good again."
Standing back up Ruby glared with determination a nine year old would never have, but go figure for the child of Summer Rose, legend among hunters to have a child like no other. Made him proud of the efforts she was taking for her growth.
Efforts that were going to pay off, she bursed again with her semblance, Petal burst and dashed at Qrow with a voly of powerful strikes but at last she was but a child and he was a grown ass man, he could easily overpower her physical strength but that's when she switched things up.
As she was locked she shot her eyes to his legs, noticings them she realized if she gets those she could easily knock him over so she acted.
'Ruby wait. With him this close you could end this in a single shot.'
'How?'
She felt her struggle fading as she was easily being overpowered.
'Wait for my mark, and when you do, throw yourself to the side. And cast out your right arm.'
'What!?'
'Just do it sweetie, you don't really have other options if you want to win.'
'I… fine, I'm trusting you Cal.'
'Don't worry, when have I ever led you astray?'
'Hmph, never.' Ruby responded with a grin. 'Lets go!'
Qrow noticed the face far to late, Ruby threw her weapon up and dove towards his side using her semblance as she free falled she threw her right arm out as a mass of red energy formed and fired.
It slammed into the man's aura causing massive aura damage, though the tree behind him sealed the deal as he was forcefully stopped by said nature's product. And by the gods. Hitting a tree at that level of speed, was going to leave a mean crick in his neck.
Though he was confused as well, the hell was that red light? One second she was fighting him with speed and a scythe and the next he's being thrown across the field by something.
Ya, looks like Ruby has some secrets alright, but looking over at her as she jumped up and down and cheered her little heart off at the thought of beating him made him smile. She deserved this, he'll probably ask later anyways, so long as he doesn't get side tracked.
Though back on Ruby's part she had won so she ran towards her tree house which has gotten an upgrade, as she climbed the ladder and made herself present at the front door she opened it and ran inside.
The inside was as you expect from something like this, pretty large with a smooth wood floor, a good sized bed, a pretty good sized TV, some comfy furniture, it was all here her little get away spot so she could just enjoy her time. But that's not why she ran here so fast instead she went towards the mirror and saw her favorite most favorist person in the whole world!
"Cal! Cal I did it! I won against Uncle Qrow!"
within a figured form, the crimson cloaked supernatural entiry was there, walking forward it placed its hand upon the glass and Ruby did to.
"Ahaha yes, I saw after all I delivered the brimstone dart for your last attack."
"Ya I know! And it was awesome! You were like some "bam!" And "boom!" And "ya!" Ruby struck a pose for each and every one as she did the figure in the mirror, laughed.
"My dear daughter you spoil me with such cute gestures and words, but it's because of your efforts that this happened."
"I know but you also helped, I just wish… mom was here…" Ruby said as she held her arm but that quickly vanished as she looked at the crimson figure in the mirror. "Oh wait that's kinda mean I mean I know you're my god-mother because of summer asking you to take care of me if she went which is till wanna know how you both meet but ahhhhhh sorry I know I shouldn't be holding onto this because it's only going to get in the wa-"
"Ruby, it's fine, I'm not blaming you for having emotion. What happened to summer was tragic, so no I'm ok. And as your godmother it's my responsibility to watch after you. After all, Summers will makes it to where I would have to, which I'm fine with. After all, you're worth observing and watching you grow."
"... You know for someone called a "walking Calamity" you are very nice."
"I know, it's surprising for even myself. But after being here for so long it's rather nice… especially since I've already spent so long watching over you Ruby. So please Ruby. Just call me mom, after all I vow to be a mother for you, for this point out."
Ruby looking upon this began to feel her eyes tear up, she just couldn't, this was too much for her. The kindness of Cal was something that warmed her heart.
You see we would have to start from the beginning, a week after that tragic day Ruby had noticed strange phenomenons start to accuse around her, door would close on there own and her blanket would move over her smilingly via magic, but strangely enough when she cried she felt her tears be brushed away as something held her, then these only began to grow, they became more active it was almost like she had a ghost following her but instead of those stories of ghost possession where there angry and hostile, this one wasn't. It was so kind, every time she would ask for its help. It made itself known, always present and willing to help even in her weakest moments. She would always be there, and Ruby began to brighten at the thought of having a "friend" even if they couldn't be seen helping her.
It went on for a while and on her eighth birthday, when she was alone in her tree house trying to calm her mind she heard a sweet gentle voice sing a song for her, it was the happy birthday song. Though as she enjoyed it she soon became terrified, reason? Because she was all alone in her tree house, when she looked around trying to find the voice only to stop as she looked into the mirror and saw the crimson robe entity standing behind her as the voice only got louder until it was practically in her ears now.
She was shaking, scared and worried, this figure easily stood at the height of a fully armored male but the fright ended, when it layed me there hand upon Ruby like a mother…. Like her ghost friend would always do.
Soon the pieces clicked, and she "hugged" the figure, though her arms phased right threw she at least tried. Which was enough for the ghostly figure before her.
Since then she's always hangs out with her but kept it a secret, she wasn't sure how her father or sister would react so she wanted this to be her little secret friendship/family bond with Cal, and we'll she was happy, because Cal basically took up the mother role Ruby wanted, sure was that wrong… maybe but Cal has been watching over her sense she was two apparently and as such basically as long as Summer, her "true" mom.
And well scary part of this, technically Cal has been by her side for every second of every day when Summer hadn't, so by that logic, Cal has taken care of her longer then her own biological mother.
Crazy huh, but Ruby loved it, she loved Cal and was glad she was now in her life.
Remember all this Ruby couldn't help but smile, laying on the couch she looked at Cal as she smiled. "Hey mamma."
"Yes Ruby?"
"Do you think it's possible for me to learn some call magic like yours?"
"Hmmm…. I do not see why you shouldn't. After all your quite special."
"Hmm how so?" Ruby asked with her now sitting up.
"Simple, your blood is special, you're quite magically attuned, more so than all the other mortal creatures I've seen. Learning magic will be easy once I impart the lessons onto you."
"Hehehe yes! I'ma be learning MAGICCCCCCC!!!!"
The supernatural creature chuckled at her happiness towards this.
"Yes, but I recommend you go to be Ruby, you've have an eventful day tomorrow."
"Ok Ca- Mamma!"
Throwing herself onto her bed she fell asleep but Cal hadn't disappeared instead she went over and placed her spiritual hand upon Ruby's chest and felt it surging.
"Now I see, it seems that my magical presence has awakened the hidden side of your blood, my dear little one. But it's been so long since I've felt this raging dark aura, this uncontrollable and dominating thirst for power and authority. Looks like you have what it takes Ruby to not only be a hero but something far, far greater."
Moving her hand back, she formed a red orb and placed it, almost immediately her body absorbed it and devoured the magic, making the entire smile under that shadowy hood.
"Looks like my daughter is also a Tyrant, how cute, question now is. Are you going to be like him, or worse, or better, honestly who can tell. But regardless I'll watch over you Ruby, I am your godmother now, though I also should thank summer for all this, and don't worry dear dead rose. I'll make sure to keep my end of the deal. My vow is my law, because of that assured summoning ritual but no matter."
Playing with Ruby's hair the dark being smiled.
"I'm fine with this, though question now, what path do you wish to follow, the hero, or the tyrant. My little one."

Now to go over a few things, Tyrants the fuck are they? Basically the terraria Calamity player. Beings that can master anything and have infinite potential for growth but have a thirst for power that drives them to darker means of gaining power. If you've played the game you know what I mean, so besides this that's all I'm spilling that way you all get a tad bit more interested in the book.
Next part who's cal, not telling.
When will I update? No freaking idea, but probably soon.
We continuing with Ruby's childhood with the next chapter, nope, we going into the main series of things.
