Meeting of the Watch

(Universe DB-relative to Earths 21st Century.)

A human writer once wrote of a "Restaurant at the end of the universe." Said writer could have no idea how accurate or inaccurate such a prediction could be. Inaccurate in that it is more of a diner, whatever difference that entails, than a restaurant. Accurate in that the women who left it there were inspired by Mr. Adams work to leave a broken Tardis, when they were done with it, locked in chrono-stasis at the end of everything.

In a scene right out of some midwestern town, if one ignored the birth of a new Galactus outside its windows, we find a table of eclectic momentary time travelers.

At one end of the table sits a pony, either below or above average in size depending on one's planet of origin, dressed in royal regalia and enjoying tea from the dawn of Fodlans rebirth period. It is said that this tea was the favorite of the negotiator responsible for the three nations eventually joining. The negotiator was said to disappear into the stars afterwards, only leaving behind his favorite beverage, Tarine Tea.

On the other side of the table floats one of the universes rare Pokemon, and the one responsible for such a unique venue of meeting. The forest sprite is known as Celebi and represents the cosmic entity Dialga when in person communication is necessary. Given the number of groups dedicated to guarding the timeline, it seldom has much work to do aside from its own hobby of purifying polluted worlds throughout history.

Next to the Messenger of the Vortex sits perhaps the strangest member of the group, from a purely visual standpoint. A spherical creature garbed in a dark cloak; his face hidden behind a silver mask. This is Meta Knight, famous in his own era for his title as, "The strongest warrior in the universe" and frequent sparring partner of many seeking strength.

The final occupant of the table is, for the most part, the most normal looking. A human with a long beard, and robes of an order long in the past. His transparent blue glow is all that sets him apart from a normal human, explaining his presence among the strange company. This late Jedi Master, known as Qui Gon Jyn, made himself available to the Force as a sort of messenger, much like his tablemate Celebi's own situation.

"It is as feared then." Meta Knight begins for the group, after a brief preamble. "The Guardians of the Universe failed in their duty. The Space gem is missing"

Celestia nods, being the only other member of the group from the same temporal perspective as the Star Warrior. "Indeed. News of Oa's fall reaches even Equestria. Has lord Dialga or his brethren located the gem?" She asks the guardian of time.

"Unfortunately, not." Celebi answers. "The gems presence alludes even space's master; and the lord of Anti-matter is unable to devote time to searching for it."

Meta Knight grunts. "The Galactic Nova had as much to say when I attempted to wish for its return."

"To be expected." The former Jedi Master muses. "The Gems are like the universe itself. Endless possibility, Eternal in perspective, and unable to be defined by even the most powerful of beings."

Celestia sighs at the lack of new information. "Do we know who stole it? Has any evidence of the renegade Lantern been found?"

Celebi shakes its head in reply. "Lantern Jordan, while responsible for the destruction of the central power battery, did not take the gem. Similarly, when I sought out Ganthet, he too was unable to account for it."
"Could it have split as the Time Gem has?" Qui Gon asks. "I understand Lord Dialga has kept its fragments safe for some while."

Said entities messenger frowns thoughtfully. "Let us hope such a possibility has not come to pass. The Time Gem was misused by those of Galifrey to make themselves lords over the very flow of time. If the Space Gem was similarly abused, the results would be catastrophic." Its eyes raise towards the table's companions. "And what of the other Gems? Are they accounted for?"
Meta Knight is the first to reply, slightly frustrated at a potential slight. "The Mind Gem is safe beneath the Fountain. My lineage has protected it since the Nightmare was first sealed, I will not neglect the duty entrusted us."

Celestia frowns, before placating the knight. "None would assume you too, Sir Knight. I have long trusted your family, and you are the greatest of them I have known. The Reality stone too, is accounted for within the Everfree. The keys to its seclusion are with those that I trust to protect them, even unknowingly."

The representative of the Force takes his turn. "Mortis is still home to the Soul Gem. Neither the Son nor Daughter are capable of removing it. The secret of its existence remains unknown to the new order of Jedi."

"And but one of the Time Gem's fragments are outside the Vortex." Celebi finishes for the Group. "It is under the protection of the Supreme Kai of time and her organization; since its wielder joined their forces."

"And the Power Gem?" Meta Knight asks, eyes narrowing on the Time Traveler. "Who is responsible for it?"

If Celebi was perturbed by directness of his question, the messenger did not let it show. "It is safe with its own master. That is all I am at liberty to say."

"The Guardians told us similar when they first took hold of the Space Stone, did they not?" The Allicorn asks. "Was it not yourself who warned them from trusting to much in themselves?"

Qui Gon glances at the two most tangible members of the group. "The Power Gem has its own guardian, just as the Soul, and just as the two you watch did, before they proved unable to protect them."

Celestia looks between the Pokémon and Jedi. "And you are concerned that we too may fall? Is that the true reason your masters send you in their stead? Because they distrust us do to the mistakes of our precursors?"

"As you alluded before," Meta Knight begins. "The Time Gem is no longer with its original guardians. Only the Soul Gem is with that to who it belonged since the beginning."

Celebi considers the two before responding. "So, it is not. As you surmise, with powers this great, our master's do not fully trust ether you, or any mortal in this matter. Be that as it may, you can take our word when we tell you the Power Gem is safe and accounted for. Will that be enough?"

A growl escapes Meta Knight. "As I said before, I will not neglect the duty of my lineage."

Celestia is much more diplomatic in her frustration, only letting a head tilt show. "Nor will I. If that is all you will say, that is all we will ask. Now, shall we return to the matter of the thief?"

Qui Gon hums in thought. "The two of you are more knowledgeable of the universe's current threats, while my galaxy is locked forever in the past; And Celebi pays little attention to events of the physical realm. What are your thoughts?"

Celestia glances towards Meta Knight, conversing silently before responding to the Jedi. "Equestia is unlikely the source of this thief. The Nightmare was destroyed by Sir Knight's ally after its hold over my sister was broken. The Lord of Chaos is still but a statue, and no others of my world are capable of traversing the cosmos."

Meta Knight, having more closely investigated the matter on Oa, picks up the explanation. "Many criminals escaped their Cells during Lantern Jordan's arrival. The Titan, Mother Brain, Freiza; All of which have at least minor knowledge of the Infinity Gems. That disregards several Viltrumite warriors, Decepticon lieutenants, and many others who would have taken it simply by happenstance."

"All of whom have since rejoined their empires." Celestia finishes for her colleague. "Leaving us all back where we began."
"Indeed." Qui Gon concludes. "The future is an unpredictable thing; ever flowing in ways even we cannot comprehend."
"Which is why we yet prepare champions, for this potential Crisis." Celebi remarks. "Thanks to the vigor of their newest member, I believe Chronoa and her Time Patrol will stand ready when needed."

"Young Skywalker has proven himself strong in the Force, with greater wisdom than his predecessors; and the New Republic has allied with the heroes of Solana and Bogon in the past. They will be ready to do so again if needed."
The two cosmic messengers look to their companions who, once again, seem to be having a silent conversation until Celestia speaks up. "The element bearers have much yet to grow, but I believe them capable of standing with the heroes of Earth and Mobius if this Crisis looms greater."
"And while Kirby is yet young, I will ensure that both he and The Hunter are ready for what may come."

"Then we have our plans." Celebi concludes. "May the horrors of the past never be awakened. May the Infinity Gems never be misused as they were during The Last Great Time War."

"For that reason, we are ever on the Watch."

Conversation concluded; the group left, an air of concern in their minds, unsure of things to come.

Did I use Qui Gon instead of Yoda simply because I didn't think could write him this long? Yes, yes I did.

I don't know if I'll ever have a true Crisis level work in this crossover, there are just too many characters to manage, and I'd have to somehow make it unique from those that have been written both officially and in fanfic. But that didn't stop me from exploring the concept of the Infinity Watch, a team that naturally originates from Marvel. Funny thing how the group always seemed to tear itself apart.

In that exploration, I also wanted to work out how some of the further out their elements of this continuity connect. On recommendation from a previous reviewer, The Star Wars Galaxy is only able to communicate with the greater universe through time space distortions caused by the Time War. I also decided to have it somewhat neighbor the galaxies from Ratchet and Clank. Those galaxies are probably (Still not fully decided,) Where planets that are similar to historical earth but not quite, such as Fire Emblem Three houses, take place.

This also acts as a sort of sequel to the Time Travelers Requiem; with Celebi's inclusion.

Once again, due to the great number of properties used in DB, there are many that I have little knowledge of, such as MLP. I hope I didn't mishandle Celestia due to that, but I welcome feedback on both her and everyone else.

Thank you for reading, and I hope everyone has a wonderful day.
