Hello, everyone! I hope you're having a great day – I know I am!

I will let you in on a secret… I have decided to finally ask Hinata out. And if you're finding yourself asking why, well, let me explain. I have recently found out she has liked me in like forever and it has made me think. I now kinda see her differently, ya' know?

She is very pretty. Sure, she isn't the first one to draw the eye as her hair isn't bubblegum pink or anything, but her features fit together nicely. She has always been kind to me and believed in me even in primary school when I would get bullied and all. She would share her bento with me, talk to me and even stood up to those bullies by high school. Sure, by that time she kinda got lost in the sea of new cool friends I had made, but she has always occupied a special place in my heart. I am certain I owe Hinata many of the good things which have happened in my life since meeting her. She always seems to know what to say.

But anyways –let's not get distracted here– besides the looks and personality we have also decided to go study in the same city. We haven't seen each other super often, but I think if we'd date that could work out. And get this – her best friend is Temari, a girl from Suna, who just so happens to be the girlfriend of one of my best buddies, Shikamaru.

In fact, it was Hinata who met her first. They befriended each other online, believe it, and Temari even came to visit multiple times when we were in senior year. At first, the Hyūgas had housed her and I don't know what Hinata might have told her family, but it worked for a while. The Hyūgas, oh man, they are one of the most stuck up and traditional families in Konoha… maybe only second to the Uchiha. I didn't think they would have liked to have a random chick Hinata met online over at their place and sure enough... Since the whole thing was built on a house of cards, it was obvious they'd figure it out. So get this, Shika offered to have Temari over when she'd visit and they have been inseparable ever since. Well, Hinata always goes over too when Temari is around, but hey, they're best friends after all… super close and all that.

I got distracted again… tonight I want to ask her out. We're having a Christmas party right now and I've been watching her all night. She has only chatted and danced with Temari and sometimes I wonder how no guy has snatched her yet. I mean she is pretty perfect. The dress she has on makes her look lovely. I can't put my finger on what, if it's the pattern, the cut or the colour, but she looks so glowy and happy and–

Now she's gotten herself in a predicament. You see, as she was gliding around with Temari and giggling and all, she stumbled and fortunately didn't fall, but landed right under the mistletoe. This is my moment, it will be like a fairytale Christmas romance. I puffed my chest.

"I will save you!" I proclaimed, as I strode forward. But low and behold, someone had gripped my forearm.

"Like hell you will, dumbass! That's my line," dogbreath grumbled and I already could feel myself losing my cool and clarity and...

"Hell no! I've been waiting for this all night!" I confessed and everyone gasped. Oh shit. I hadn't planned for that to happen. Shit shit shiiiiit! All of a sudden I felt pretty nervous and my eyes instinctively searched for Hinata. She looked all cute and embarrassed, blushing madly. Her lips parted, and she spoke in her trademark soft tone.

"Um… Naruto-kun, Kiba-kun–"

"What a youthful display of passion and love! I want to join the race for the hand of our fair maiden!"

"What contest?!"

"No, Lee," Kiba shouted, "we are not joking around here."

"I challenge you to max push-ups Naruto-san, Kiba-san," Lee said, as he made eye contact with the both of us. "Let the most youthful man of us win!"

Now… I wasn't in my best physical form and it should have been obvious to me that Lee would smoke us, but I found myself agreeing before I could think things over. Hinata was watching after all and so did everyone else. The crowd cheered and I could feel my heart beating louder and louder.

Stubbornness alone helped Kiba and I tie at 40 something repetitions. We at least had the decency to care about form… okay, at least for the first 20 reps or so. Lee, of course, seemed like he could go on for hours. And so, not even a few minutes gone since the start of the contest, I found myself drenched in sweat and defeated, as Lee jumped to his feet and enjoyed the crowd's wild clapping.

"Enough!" Temari shouted from the bar, her face scrunched up in… anger? She strode towards Hinata and… KISSED HER? ON THE LIPS?!

Wait a second… were Hinata and Temari… an item? No one seemed shocked in the least. Ino and Sakura were elbowing each other and laughing, Neji was rolling his eyes next to a giggling Tenten, Shino and Choji had literally no reaction whatsoever as if they'd known for ages. Even Lee smiled at the two women, showing them a thumbs up. Well… if it was any consolation, Kiba seemed just as utterly gobsmacked as I was. So before I could even begin to feel betrayed, I realised that the clues had been there all along.

But wait a second… What would poor Shikamaru think?! As my eyes met his and millions of questions formulated in my head, I could see him sighing and scratching the back of his neck.

"What a drag…"

Sooooo… he was in on this whole scheme?!

A/N: This idea came to me today and I just wrote it out immediately. It kind of also fits my new hobby of playing with different POVs and this was actually my first time writing a story in first person. I hope you had a good laugh or that my story at least made you smile. :)

I am very grateful for constructive feedback or just hearing your thoughts. Thanks for reading!
