Brooklyn was now completely banned from leaving the castle. It made him feel restless that he couldn't go anywhere. Bronx was often left behind for him for company as Hudson was having to go on patrols now to replace him. But there was usually one of the clan that stayed behind with him as well.

The clan would usually have breakfast together before they left the castle. They were trying to make up for lost time after having gotten their Second in Command back. Patrols were usually only an hour or two, depending on situations. Sometimes they were all night too. But Goliath didn't want the clan out too long with Brooklyn in his condition. There could always be a threat out there that could want the red male for what he carried. He even worried about Demona.

Brooklyn was still taking the supplements that Xanatos had gotten from the Illuminati. The hormones were helping to keep the pregnancy going. It seemed odd that he had to take them every night, but he did. He also took the prenatal vitamins too.

On his next exam, Brooklyn really wanted to know what he was having. As Sato did the ultrasound, he saw that one was a boy for sure. When he saw nothing on the twin, he stated, "I think the second one is a girl."

Brooklyn smiled. He was beaming. His skin was also shinier than usual too. He felt proud of himself that he was having one of each.

"I really wonder how my turning to stone affects them since they're half human." Brook wondered out loud.

"We could find out. Would you rather it be done now or after birth?" Sato inquired.

Brooklyn panicked at that thought. "After pregnancy. I don't want any more needles put into my stomach." Brooklyn objected.

"That's understandable." Sato declared. "But Brooklyn, I also have an idea for you so that you won't have to take the hormones anymore by putting them in a drink or on food."

"I have to have the hormones to keep this pregnancy going." Brooklyn said.

"I know, but I was thinking more along the lines of putting a hormone implant underneath your skin in one of your arms. It works with women as a birth control device, but I can get one that modifies yours to keep delivering the pregnancy hormones you need. Will you give me your hormones so I can do that?" Sato asked.

Brooklyn had never heard of such a thing. "You're sure it'll work?" he asked cautiously.

"Yes. It delivers hormones on a daily basis slowly. It prevents pregnancy in women, but like I said, yours will be the opposite, to keep the pregnancy steady." Sato explained. "You could take a few out for the next few days and I'll have it ready in a few days."

"It does sound better than taking them daily." Brooklyn agreed. "Okay."

They left the medic ward and got Fox to give him the hormones to give to Dr. Sato. Sato gave Brooklyn some of the hormones for the next few days while he got the new implant ready.

"I'll be back in a few days. Thank you, Brooklyn." Sato said.

"You're welcome." Now Brook could only wait for the new implant. He was a little uncomfortable about this, but it sounded a lot better than having to remember if he would continue to take his supplements every night.

After the exam, a new sonogram was printed off to show to the clan. Brooklyn was glad he was able to see what his twins looked like inside him. Despite the human factor, they both definitely resembled him more than a human. And hopefully just a few more months. They were nowhere near ready to be born yet.

"Well, I'll see you again in a few days, then after, I'll see you again in a month." Sato stated.

"Thanks." Brooklyn said as he left the infirmary. The clan wanted to see the sonogram when he came out. He showed them by holding it up to the light.

"Awww!" The clan was in awe of the babies that would soon be part of their clan. Of course, they had no idea if a sonogram could be done on gargoyle eggs to see the embryos and fetuses. But it might be something to try on the eggs, when there were eggs again.

"Are they moving around right now, Brooklyn?" Angela asked curiously.

"Yeah, a little." He replied.

"Can I feel them?" she asked.

"Sure." Brook smiled. He took her hand and guided it to a certain spot on his stomach. "Just wait." He instructed. Broadway felt it a little personal that his mate was touching his brother's belly.

Angela waited patiently but she soon felt some bumps under her hand. Brooklyn felt it too. He instantly laughed. Angela gasped in joy. "I felt one or both of them!" She expressed with glee.

"That's great, Lass." Hudson smiled.

"Wonder why they're active right now." Lex wondered. He too wanted to feel his niece and nephew move. Brooklyn allowed him to feel them too. He too also got a good feel of them.

"I found out I'm having a boy and a girl." Brooklyn declared.

"That'll make finding names for them easier too." Angela said.

"Yeah." Brooklyn knew that he wanted to find names that were good and of course, with B names already dominating the clan, he definitely wanted different letter names than his own. But he hoped to also keep looking and find that special female to spend his life with and be his kids' mother, whether she be a human or gargess.

...

Dr. Sato returned in a couple nights as he said he would with an implant that would be inserted into Brooklyn's arm to deliver the hormones he needed until after the birth.

Brooklyn was summoned to the infirmary to see his doctor. "Back already?" he asked in a joke.

"Yes, I am. Now to get this implant in your arm." Sato replied.

"Can I see it?" Brook asked.

"Sure. It's nothing that's that noticeable." Sato stated. He held it out to the red male.

Brooklyn took the implant in his hand to see it. It sure was tiny. Just barely bigger than a grain of rice. This would give him the hormones for the next four months?

"Are you sure this will be big enough to give me all I need to keep the pregnancy going?" Brook asked cautiously.

"Yes, it will, I promise. Now we must get this in your arm. If you'll give it back to me." Sato declared.

"Are you just going to inject it into me?"

"Not in the way you think. I have to make a tiny incision after I numb the area. It'll be put into the muscle in your bicep. There it'll stay for the next few months." Sato explained.

"Okay." Brooklyn agreed. "Do what you have to do."

Sato cleaned the implant first, then he got out the tools needed. Then he wiped down the bicep on Brooklyn's left arm near the underside. Brooklyn held his arm up for him, but Sato gave him something to support his arm on while he did the small surgery.

Sato injected the medicine to numb the area first, making Brooklyn wince at the feeling. It took effect and looking away, Sato cut a small hole in his arm. Then he put the implant into the hole and pushed it deep into the muscle. It would be secure there. Then Sato stitched the hole closed with one suture. It was over.

"You're good to go now, Brooklyn." Sato smiled. "But you might want to take the hormones for another night to make sure the implant gets started first."

"But will it be harmed when I turn to stone?" Brooklyn asked.

"If it's part of your body, it should be fine, as all that's yours turns, doesn't it?" Sato asked.

"Yes, usually."

"Well, I wish you the best but of course, keep the hormones on standby in case it breaks. Let me know if it does." Sato ordered.

"Okay." Brooklyn replied. He hoped it wouldn't.

Sato wished him luck and that hopefully the implant would stay intact. He left after that.

Brooklyn was still a little concerned having this implant in his arm but if it meant not taking the hormones by mouth every night, it would be worth it. He turned to stone the next morning, hoping the implant wouldn't break inside him.

He awoke the next evening like normal and Brooklyn didn't feel anything crack or anything. The implant must have been okay. That was great!

...

The sewers went on for miles. Fang was looking for a new place to stay for the time being. He wanted a place where his old enemies wouldn't find him. But he was also thinking along the way; that it wasn't just Talon that he was mad at. It was also the red gargoyle he wanted revenge on too.

The last time that Fang had known he had seen Brooklyn was the night he had met the clones when he had met Thailog. Then Demona and Thailog had turned on one another. But Fang wasn't going to get in the middle of their argument. He just had wanted to take on Talon more than anything.

But now that Fang was free again, he was on his own. First, he wanted to find a place to stay of his own accord and maybe one day leave New York, but first, he wanted revenge on Brooklyn too.

Fang soon found a good-sized sewer home in a Staten Island substation. It was empty below ground. It was a good place. He also found a good place to hold prisoners if he so desired it.

"Hm, this'll be a good place to hold that freak." Fang proclaimed. "I'm gonna make that red monster feel how I felt for so long. A prisoner."

When Fang got more settled into his new home, even if temporary, he now knew what he was going to do: track down Brooklyn and make him pay for what he had done for helping Talon take him down.

Fang knew that the gargoyles were living back in the castle at the Eyrie building now since their discovery in the city by the humans. He had heard Talon and Maggie talking about it many a time. So, he was headed towards there.

He knabbed some binoculars from a store along with food. He would use the binoculars to watch the castle for many nights. He would watch from a distance to see the gargoyles taking off on patrol and he would go after Brooklyn when he saw him go off with some other gargoyles, he didn't care which. But he didn't see Brooklyn take off from the castle at all.

For several nights, he saw no sign of Brooklyn and he finally had to go investigate for himself. Was the red one gone or something? Or was he dead?

When he took peeks inside the castle, being sneaky to avoid cameras, Fang finally saw Brooklyn inside. He would be in the library or kitchen, getting food or watching tv. The red one sure had gotten lazy he noticed. Why would he let himself go? Who cares. This would make him an easier target.

But he was waiting for the right moment when Brooklyn would come to him. He wanted him on the outskirts of the castle, on the battlements.

...

Talon and Claw had informed the clan that Fang had escaped from the Labyrinth, and they should be on the lookout for him. At this, Brooklyn was not to leave the castle at all.

Brooklyn was much further along now, at his 22nd week. He was worried about Fang possibly coming after him but hopefully not. But he remembered that he himself had helped to take Fang down and ruin his plans for dominion over the Labyrinth while Goliath had been on his world tour. That was why he had every reason to be watchful.

I know of the birth implant too because I had to deal with one quite a few years ago. No longer have to now. Had it in my arm for a year.
