Chapter 0: The New World/Altered Fate

"Ten years have passed since the Pandora Box was discovered on Mars and caused the infamous Skywall Incident. Our city was divided into three districts known as Touto, Seito, and Hokuto, resulting in utter chaos."

"Chaos theory, an interdisciplinary area of scientific study and branch of mathematics that focuses on underlying patterns and deterministic laws of dynamical systems that are highly sensitive to initial conditions, and were once thought to have completely random states of disorder and irregularities.

Chaos theory states that within the apparent randomness of chaotic complex systems, there are underlying patterns, interconnection, constant feedback loops, repetition, self-similarity, fractals, and self-organization.

A widely known aspect of Chaos Theory is the butterfly effect, an underlying principle which describes how small changes can lead to drastically larger results down the line

Put into layman's terms, the introduction of small unexpected, seemingly minor elements or alterations to what should be a predetermined scenario can lead to unexpected results, ones that can shift the outcome of everything…"

1994

Beneath the Fuyuki Citizens Building two men stood across from one another, Emiya Kiritsugu and Kotomine Kirei, the two remaining participants of the Fourth Holy Grail War, their battle here would decide the outcome of the entire war.

Standing across from his opponent, an unsettling grin spread itself across Kirei's face. The anticipation, this is what he'd been craving ever since his father and that babbling idiot Tokomoi, both men now dead by his hand, had coerced him to be part of this damned Ritual all for the benefit of the Tohsaka Patriarch.

Not that it was of any concern of his anymore, after all Tokiomi was now dead. His father was dead. His King had managed to convince Berserker's idiot Master to aid them in exchange for sparing the life of Tohsaka Aoi, a deal that both he and his King had no intention of honouring. What did they care for a pitiful fool that lusted after another man's wife.

Regardless, he'd played his part, thanks to Kariya's efforts the Lesser Grail was within his grasp. All that remained was the man in front of him.

Was this it, was this what he had been lacking all this time? Was this truly what joy felt like?

Taking hold of the crucifix around his neck, Kirei pressed his lips against the small golden pieces of jewelry, an innocuous act from any other member of clergy but from a man like him it seemed more like an act of blasphemy.

In an instant a set of Black Keys appeared in the brown haired Executioner's hands before he charged towards the man across from him, for a moment fiery energy radiated off of the blades he wielded.

Kiritsugu responded quickly to this, without a moment's hesitation he raised his Thompson Center G2 Contender at Kirei as he dashed forward and pulled the trigger, firing one of his Origin Rounds at the former Executioner, the special bullet exploding forth from the weapons barrel towards him.

The projectile sliced through the air and quickly found its mark, impacting against one of the swords that Kirei wielded, the air rippling at around the point of contact, before all of a sudden the blades Kirei was wielding began to glow before suddenly they shattered as if they were made of glass.

Kirei however was unphased by this, despite his sudden lack of weapon he continued to charge headlong towards Kiritsugu, something that caught Kiritsugu momentarily off guard.

"Wha…what?" Kiritsugu exclaimed, clearly, he'd underestimate the priests dogged obsession with him.

Within seconds Kirei had closed the distance between himself and Kiritsugu, aiming a roundhouse kick towards the unkempt looking assassin's direction

'Time Alter: Double Accel…' With no time to evade Kiritsugu activated his Magecraft, all of a sudden he felt a rush spreading through his body as he focused his Prana through his Magic Circuit, time around him slowed to a crawl as he leaned backwards to avoid Kirei's kick which, even with his Magecraft he was barely able to avoid.

As he fell Kiritsugu reached out a hand towards the ground and before launching himself away from Kirei, as he did so the Mercenary Magus pulled out his Calico automatic pistol and fired a barrage of bullets at his opponent, the brown haired man backflipping out of the way to avoid them, a set of three Black Keys appearing in each hand that he utilized with well-honed speed and precision to block and deflect the incoming barrage of gunfire until the clip emptied itself.

The moment the hailstorm of bullets ceased, Kirei once more rushed headlong towards Kiritsugu, his speed seemingly impossible for anyone not trained in the use of Magecraft, cocking his right arm back whilst at the same time curling his hand into a fist.

Calling upon his years of practice along with the use of his Magecraft, Kiritsugu loaded another Origin Rounds into his Thompson Center G2 Contender, raising the gun he prepared to fire another shot…only to find Kirei already standing before him.

'Damnit, he's fast…' The mercenary Mage cursed to himself. Had he really underestimated Kotomine Kirei this much?

Kirei didn't give Kiritsugu any time to react, launching his fist forward he delivered an underhanded punch that connected right in the center of the scruffy looking mercenary's chest, the blow packing enough force behind it to knock him off of his feet and launch him into a nearby wall, his body shattering the concrete and creating a small creator where his body made impact.

Waves of pain tore through Kiritsugu's body as he lay there embedded in the wall, eyes widened and a streak of blood escaped his wide open mouth, agony in his chest from shards of his broken ribs digging into his lungs and piercing his heart.

As a long guttural sounding groan left his body, Kitsugu fell forward out of the impact crater, his vision becoming foggy and unfocused fading before he lost balance and collapsed to the ground.

As he fell towards the concrete floor, for just a moment, a vision of a small pale skinned child with red eyes flashed before Kiritsugu's eyes. 'Illya…' His last thought echoed through his mind before his now ruined heart gave out as everything around him faded into inky black.

For a moment everything was still, Kirei staring intensely at Kiritsugu's unmoving body, watching for even the slightest hint of movement. Any proof of life.

Nothing. Kiritsugu lay there motionless, his head slumped to one side.

Letting out a deep breath Kirei turned and began to walk away, now that their fight was over he felt a hollowness. From the start he'd been practically obsessed with Emiya Kiritsugu, spent the last few years imagining various scenarios of how their fight would play out.

Now that it was over he had to wonder, had the dead man lying there really been worth his admiration?

As the sound of Kirei's retreating footsteps echoed throughout the room Kiritsugu lay there motionless, his life and everything that he'd experienced and achieved in it swallowed up by the inky black void of nothingness. That was until all of a sudden he felt a sudden rush from his chest resonated through his whole body, the black abyss that surrounded him was suddenly enveloped in a bright light, its golden hue chasing away the darkness faster than it could consume him.

For a moment the shaggy haired Mercenary was left dumbfounded, how…how could he be alive. Just as quickly he realized the answer, of course…Avalon…

Iri. Even now, despite everything, she was at his side, still supporting him.

He could feel Avalon do its work, tending to his injuries and knitting his heart back together. It wasn't perfect however, the magic contained within the ancient artifact might heal his wounds but it did little to dull the pain he was in.

Ignore it, push through it. He still had a job to do. He couldn't quit now, not when he was so close…

Pointing his Calico at Kirei's retreating form Kiritsugu pulled the trigger and fired off another barrage of bullets at him, the act catching the priest by surprise, forcing him to whirl around to protect himself from the incoming projectiles, judging by his expression he was genuinely shocked at seeing Kiritsugu back from the dead.

'He can somehow come back from a destroyed heart?' The former Executioner grimaced, genuinely shocked that Kiritsugu had somehow managed to return from the dead. 'If that's the case then I'll have to target his brain…'

'Time Alter: Double Accel…' Once again Kiritsugu felt a surge run through him as he sent a flood of Prana through his Magic Circuits, the world around him slowing to a crawl. It wouldn't last long, in his current state, so he'd have to make the most of it whilst he could.

Getting to his feet, his legs somewhat shaky beneath him, Kiritsugu weighing his options as he continued to open fire upon Kotomine staggered to his feet, pulses of pain emanating from his newly repaired ribs and heart in chest.

Doing his best to ignore the pain in his chest, the Mercenary weighed his options, taking into account his current situation along with the tools he had available to him right now.

As much as hated to admit it Kotomine Kirei was a formidable opponent, despite his Time Alter: Double Accel the priest had no problem keeping up with him, not only that he was just as skilled in the use of his own weapon as Kiritsugu was in his.

Loading Kirit a fresh Origin Round into his Contender, Kiritsugu flicked the gun closed and pointed it at Kire who was already headed in his direction, just as time returned to its natural flow, squeezing down on the trigger as he prepared to fire.

The instant that time returned to normal all of a sudden the air between them began to warp and shimmer, something that caught both Kiritsugu and Kirei by surprise.

Seeing the phenomenon Kire came to a quick halt before taking several quick steps back, putting a slight distance between the shimmering spot in the air, a dumbfounded look on his face.

"What the…?" Kiritsugu muttered to himself as he observed the unexpected phenomenon that was occurring before him, keeping his gun trained on Kirei who in turn kept a tight grip on the Black Keys.

More and more the air in front of them warped and contorted itself and sparks of energy began to radiate off of the distortion until a large, almost blinding flash of light erupted from it, forcing both men to shield their eyes.

Just as quickly as it had occurred the bright white light faded away, blinking a few times Kiritsugu looked back at the spot that it had originated, his eyes quickly widening at the sight before him.

Sitting there in the center of the room stood what looked to be some kind of table which consisted of a flat circular surface that was attached to a pillar-like base that looked to be rising out of the ground.

However, what was resting atop of it was what grabbed the brown haired mercenaries' attention. It was gray in appearance and somewhat boxed shaped, each of its corners were flattered into a triangular shape which prevented it from being a perfect square, with some kind of detailing etched into its surface.

Kiritsugu had no idea what strange box was, despite this he was somehow unable to tear his eyes away from it, as if the object itself was giving off some kind of presence that forcefully demanded his full attention.

Unbeknownst to him, the mercenary Magus wasn't alone in this.

Across from him Kirei too found himself experiencing the same phenomenon that Kiritsugu was. Both men who a short time ago had been so engrossed in their battle found their will to fight fade, in that moment nothing else but this strange object mattered to them, it had become their whole world.

Unbeknownst to both men, as they gazed upon the object before them, their eyes began to glow red as they were both suddenly filled with an overwhelming desire to claim the box as their own before the other could.

In an instant both Kiritsugu and Kire were on the move, both of them making a mad dash towards the box, both of them with a hand outstretched before them in an attempt to claim it before the other man could, at the same both of their hands touching one of the side panels.

The moment that both men's hands made contact with it the box's surface began to radiate with a bright light, the spell that had enraptured them was broken, leaving both Kiritsugu and Kirei dumbfounded by what had just happened before suddenly a wave of energy was released from the box, knocking both Kiritsugu and Kirei off of their feet and sent both of them flying backwards.

It was also at that moment a loud crashing noise from above was heard as the ceiling above suddenly shattered and a torrent of a strange blood substance poured into the room below, the strange liquid quickly filling the space and both Kiritsugu and Kirei found themselves enveloped by it.

As both men sank deeper into the substance both of the swore they heard a voice as blackness overcame both of their vision.

"Huh, so this is the new world that Sento created," They heard it say, "Ah well, guess I'll just have to start over…"

Hell…that best described the scene that was playing out around him. What else could it be?

Flames encompassed everything around him, consuming everything. Buildings. Streets. Cars. People. Everything was indiscriminately engulfed and consumed. Heat and stray embers licked at him , searing at his skin, as he moved onwards.

The sound of the dead and dying filled the air along with the sound of roaring flames. Some cried out for aid, others called out in an attempt to find loved ones and there were those who pleaded for divine intervention.

The smell in the air assaulting his nose, no way of escaping the putrid smell of burning meat and materials and noxious smoke that he was forced to breathe in.

All around him people were dying, their bodies consumed by the fire or crushed by falling material, he could hear them crying out, begging for help.

Block it out. Ignore it. Keep moving. There's nothing you can do to help them. Just keep moving, get…somewhere, anywhere. Survive. Live.

But then where would he go, what was he supposed to do? His parents were dead and his home was gone. What about his friends? What were the chances that any of them survived?

Why? Why was this happening? What had he done, what had anyone done to deserve this cruel fate?

Desperate to focus on something, anything, the child turned his gaze towards the sky and in doing so he saw them, a pair of objects that would burn themselves into his very core.

The first was a giant wall standing tall above the inferno, dominating the city's skyline, the structure looking to be made from some kind of black material, some kind of red gas seemed to be radiating off of it. A wall that had not been there before.

The second was a circular like opening that looked to have been carved from the very sky itself, an ominous looking aura flickering off of the outer ring, from which a strange almost blood like substance flowed forth, descending in the ground below like a waterfall before spreading out and bringing more destruction with it.

For what seemed like an eternity the child kept walking, what other choice did he have? He pressed forward in a vein hope of escaping from the Hell that surrounded him. He walked and walked until he could walk no further.

Tiredness overcame him, the heat from the flames seemingly sapping him of energy, both his body and lungs aching, his legs finally gave out and he collapsed to the ground.

The child lay there, several times he tried to will himself back on to his feet but his body just didn't have the strength left to do so. As he lay there a chilling thought echoed through his young mind: This was it, he was going to die here.

Despite his best efforts in the end, he would just be another faceless victim amongst all the others whose lives had already been claimed by the hellish landscape that surrounded him. No name, nothing about who he was, just another number, one amongst many.

He didn't want that, he wanted to live. He had to live. If he died here then what was the point. His parents, his home, his friends. Someone had to remember them, remember them for who and what they were.

Little did the child realize, his prayers had not gone unheeded. Although had he known what form that his salvation would take then perhaps he'd have preferred for death's embrace instead.

Given the situation, the people within the fiery burning landscape trying desperately to survive might be forgiven for failing to spare much thought to what else was going on around them

Although, perhaps if they had then just maybe someone might have noticed an almost translucent, sliver-like entity, at a glance someone might mistake it for an odd looking slug, snaking its way through the burning landscape.

The hot dry air was uncomfortable however still nothing compared to being at the center point of two parallel worlds as they were forcefully merged together. If it could survive that then it would survive this.

And it would survive, the other pieces of the greater whole were out there, it just needed to be patient and wait to be found. All the same its current form was not sufficient, regardless of its will to live this state left it vulnerable. For the best results it would need to find a host.

Oozing its way around a piece of burning debris the slug came across the very thing it was seeking, the body of a young boy a short distance away from it, one that looked to be somewhat still alive.

Perfect, provided this one's body wasn't too damaged, it would do nicely.

Without a moment's hesitation the semi translucent slug slid its way towards the spot where the child lay, its body easily finding purchase on their clothing and sliding up onto their body and slid onto their chest.

Taking a moment the slug took a moment to examine their potential host. From the looks of things this child was barely clinging onto life, not exactly ideal but then again, given the scenario it found itself in, what were the odds that it would be able to find anyone in better condition.

If he was to serve as a host body then the slug would have to act quickly.

The slug waited, waiting for this child to open their mouth, if only slightly. Time seemed to creep by ever so slowly, in that time rain began to fall, the falling waters beginning to smother the flames and making the air less oppressive.

Drops of water hit the boy's face, the rips running across his skin and dripping onto the ground below, and then it happened, the half dead child's lips parted ever so slightly, perhaps to try and catch some of the rain and quench his thirst. Seeing its chance the slug immediately darted forward towards the child's face and into his mouth before forcing itself its way down their throat.

The boy began letting out a choking sound, grabbing at his throat as he began retching, desperately trying to force the slug out of his body, all the while feeling it wiggling its way around down his throat.

As thrashed about on ground suddenly a large pile of nearby debris lost cohesion and collapsed right on top of them, both the child and the slug that now resided inside him buried beneath it with only one of his hands sticking out to give any indication that he was buried there.

Underneath the debris the child struggled, he tried to shift some of the dirt that lay on top of him but he just didn't have the strength left to do so. He tried to call out, hoping that someone, anyone would hear him, but his mouth was too dry to form coherent words. Worst still when he opened his mouth first and debris slipped inside, muffling his cries.

As he lay buried there he could feel whatever oxygen he had in his lungs becoming low, his lung aching to from not being able to dispel the carbon dioxide that was building up.

He could feel himself choking on both the dirt in his mouth as well as the stale air in his lungs. No matter what, one way or another it looked as if his fate was sealed. He was going to die. instead of burning to death he'd be buried alive choking on his last breath.

Darkness crept into his vision, swallowing up everything drowning in inky blackness. This was it, in a few moments of his short life would reach their conclusion.

Just as darkness was about to envelop everything, all of a sudden the darkness vanished in a bright golden light, its light banishing the darkness in its golden radiance, banishing the overwhelming sense of malice and hopelessness that had permeated the very air itself. He couldn't be sure but for a moment the child could swear he heard a cry permeate the air only for it to quickly fade away.

The brightness filling his vision came just as quickly as it had appeared, fading away the child was met once again by an overwhelming heat as he was once again greeted by the vision of Hell that he'd been forced to endure before he collapsed.

However something was different.

He was greeted to the sight of a scruffy looking man with dark, ruffled hair kneeling over him, smiling like he had just found a priceless treasure. Joy filled the man's eyes as he stared down at the boy, and in that moment, he realized that he didn't feel pain anymore, and despair left place to a sense of calmness that didn't belong in that place. It was confusing much like everything else up to that moment.

Where had the fear gone? The burning sensation inside his lungs? The pain in his limbs? Was this how death was supposed to be? Or was it something else? Perhaps…

Exhaustion finally caught up with him claiming his mind with blissful unconsciousness. One last thought was spared for the smiling man as realization dawned upon him.

Thankfulness, for without a doubt he had just been saved.

"He's alive, he's alive, he's alive…" He heard the man who he would later call his father say, joy and relief in his voice, tears pouring from his eyes as he gripped his hand tightly. "Thank you…thank you, because of you I have been saved."

10 years later

Matou Sakura let out a sigh as she pushed herself up into a kneeling position, interlocking her fingers as she stretched them above her head and tensed her back, working out the kinks that had developed in both from being hunched over for a prolonged period of time.

With her body feeling less stiff the purple haired Junior got to her feet and took a moment to admire the results of her hard work. Finally, after several hours, the building in which the Archery Club held its meetings was clean from top to bottom, the damp floors giving off a slight shimmer from the moonlight entering through the nearby entrance, and all the equipment was properly checked, maintained and stored away.

Despite her rather humble nature the Matou heiress couldn't help but feel a sense of accomplishment at the sight. Even if this particular role hasn't been assigned to her originally.

Tonight it had been her older brother Shinji, who also happened to be the clubs Vice President, turn to take charge of the upkeep of the clubs building and equipment. However, after claiming to have business elsewhere that evening, he'd shifted his duties onto her.

She'd not argued with him on the subject. She should have, she wanted to, after all it didn't look good for one of the two people in charge of a school's club to shirk their responsibilities. She should have protested, she'd wanted to, she knew that he was taking advantage of her rather passive demeanor. Maybe if Senpai hadn't have quit the club…

Sakura shook her head, quickly pushing these thoughts aside, things were the way they were, trying to change things that were set in stone was futile. It was getting late, Grandfather was expecting her to come home, she had another 'training session' with him tonight and he would be very upset with her for coming home so late.

Disposing of the dirty water, putting away the cleaning supplies Sakura did one last check to make sure that everything was in its proper place before stepping out into the cool night air, locking the door to the building behind her, and at a steady pace made to depart the school's grounds.

"Sakura…" She'd been approaching the school's gates when she heard her name uttered, stopping in her tracks she looked round to see who it was and found Emiya Shirou, an above average looking teenage boy with a mop of rust coloured hair atop his head and golden eyes clad in the school's uniform walking towards here.

"S…Senpai…" She stammered. "G…good evening, what are you doing here so late?"

"Issei mentioned that the heater in the student council room was on the fritz again so I took a look at it. Afterwards I figured I'd check the others to see if it was an isolated problem or not." Shirou replied. "What about you, I figured that you'd have gone home hours ago."

"O…oh, me…I was…" Sakura stammered, all of a sudden feeling rather awkward as she began fiddling with the golden bracelet that adorned her right wrist. "I had to clean the Archery Club building before I could leave so…so I did. Cleaned it top to bottom."

A frown appeared on Shirou's face when she said this. "I know it's none of my business, since I quit the club and all, but I'm pretty sure that I overheard Michizuri mention that it was Shinji's turn to do that today." He said in a firm tone. "He shirked his responsibilities again, didn't he?"

Sakura shifted awkwardly, a nervous look appearing on her face. "I…I, uhhh…" She mumbled, trying to find the appropriate words.

Shirou let out a sigh. "I really need to have a serious talk with him." He said, more to himself than to the purple haired girl before him. "Whatever, do you want me to walk with you, it is kinda dangerous to be out this late all alone right now?"

Sakura suddenly perked up at hearing this. "I…I would like that." She replied, a slight pinkness suddenly adorning her face. "I'd feel a lot safer with you walking with me Senpai."

The two of them set off, following Sakura the route that led to Sakura's home, the two teenagers making idle talk with one another as they walked the mostly empty streets.

"Man, it's cold tonight." Shirou commented, rubbing his arms before glancing over at "You alright Sakura?"

"I…I'm alright Senpai." the purple haired teen replied as she pulled her coat tighter around her, there was a slight chill in the air tonight, one that had nothing to do with the weather despite the time of year.

As of late a wave of fear had gripped all three districts of the city, all of which had resulted in a sizable number of casualties. Despite the number of victims the police had no leads as to who could be responsible, the only conclusion they could come to was that there could be a serial killer on the loose, not dissimilar to ten years ago when a psychotic killer stalked the streets, leaving a brutal number of killings in their wake, most of them children.

Just the thought of this made Sakura feel uneasy, momentarily glancing at a faint red mark that was just about visible on the back of her left hand, summoning up all the will power she could muster, she pushed down a sudden feeling of self loathing that was wheeling up within her. After all, what could she do about it?

"Are you sure you're alright Sakura?" Shirou questioned her. "For a second there you had a worried look on your face."

"It…it's nothing," She retorted, wanting him to drop it. "Nothing you need to concern yourself with."

"Sakura, if there's something wrong you know that you can tell me." Shirou told her, his tone firm but reassuring. "I promise that whatever it is I'll do whatever I can to help you out."

"I…I know, I appreciate that. But I promise, it's nothing." Sakura insisted. "Can…can we talk about something else please?"

In an attempt to distract herself, Sakura fixed her gaze onto the horizon and in doing so her eyes were greeted to the sight of the colossal edifice that dominated much of the Fuyuki skyline, Skywall. The mere sight of it sent a shudder down Sakura's spine.

Skywall, that's what it had been dubbed as by officials. The colossal black structure that had appeared on the same night as the Fuyuki fire, dividing the coastal city into three separate districts: Touto, Seito, and Hokuto, from which a strange red gas like substance was secreted off of its structure, one that was unlike anything found on Earth, its existence baffling both the Magical and Scientific communities alike, making it impossible to approach without a special gas mask that all the city's citizens had been supplied with.

Unbeknown to the general public was the odd effect the red gas had on Magecraft, in some cases dampening its effects whilst making it erratic and unpredictable in others, something that even the most senior and learned members of the Clocktower could not figure out as to why this was.

Sakura bit back her feelings of dread. She hated it, she hated going near the Skywall, she hated that she had to travel though one of a handful of heavily guarded checkpoints that could be found along it nearly every day from the Hokuto district to get to school or visit Senpai's home, both of which was located in the Touto district.

Stopping in her tracks Sakura took several deep breaths as she began mentally preparing herself before she got any closer to the towering structure, whenever she got close to it the Crest Worms inside of her would be driven into a frenzy, it was almost unbearable.

"Skywall…I hate it, I hate the sight of it." Sakura muttered. "I remember when it wasn't there, you could look out and see the rest of the city beyond. But now…"

"You're lucky, you can remember a time before Skywall." Shirou replied. "Me, it's always been there as far as I know."

An uneasy silence developed between them, both teenagers seemingly lost in thought as they gazed upon the massive structure that has divided the city.

After a while Sakur broke the silence by letting out a sigh before she reached into her bag looking for her gas mask.

"It's alright Senpai, I can make the rest of the journey by myself." She told her male companion as she rummaged through her bag. "You shouldn't have to go near it if you don't have to." 'That and I don't want you to see me getting all flustered from my Worms acting up…'

Shirou looked back at her, a questioning look on his face. In all the time that he'd known her he couldn't recall Sakura sounding so insistent.

"I really don't mind Sakura." He replied. "At least let me walk with you to the checkpoint."

Sakura looked as if she was about to say something when all of a sudden a faint noise gave both teenagers a moment of pause, glancing about them, they tried to locate where the growling sound was coming from but found nothing.

"W…what…what was that…" She muttered to herself, still looking around her as she did so.

Shirou however had a stern expression on his face. "Damnit," He muttered to himself, his eyes darting back and forth. "One would have to show up now…"

Sakura looked at him, surprised by his words. What could he mean by that, did he know what was going on?

All of a sudden something dropped down from above and landed a short distance away from the pair, creating a small crater in the road as well as kicking up a cloud of dust and debris that quickly settled greeting both of them to the sight of strange looking figure, its body resembling a black bodysuit adorned with multiple armored pieces attached to it. Its upper body however looked nothing like a person, its chest and shoulders were covered in tech greebal whilst the front of its head resembling the nose cone of some kind of aircraft with several fin-like spikes protruded from the back.

Quickly Shirou stepped in front of Sakura, glared at the creature in front of him as he did so, a scowl etched into his face. "Smash…" he grimaced.

"S…Smash…?" Sakura exclaimed, shooting him a questioning look, feelings of panic beginning to boil away inside of her.

"Sakura, run." Shirou ordered the purple haired girl. "Run and find a place to hide. Don't worry about me, I'll deal with it whilst you get to safety."

What should she do? Despite coming from a Magus family with access to large amounts of Prana she had very little training in any practical use of Magecraft. But if Senpai tried to protect her he could get hurt or worse if he tried to take it on.

She had to do something, true her own use in Magecraft was limited, but she perhaps stood a better chance than Senpai did. The rust haired boy had done so much for her, welcomed her into his home and taught her so much, she owed him that much.

"Senpai…" Before Sakura could say anything more, all of a sudden gout of flames erupted from above, striking the strange creature and stopping it in its tracks.

Looking above her Sakura was met by the sight of a small blue and gold object that was shaped vaguely like a Dragon, the device letting out a mechanical sounding cry before it launched a barrage of small fireballs at the Needle Smash which knocked it to the ground.

Reaching into his book bag Shirou produce a strange looking item, an oddly shaped black and red with a clear circular plate as well various gears and visible silver circuits running along, the center of it hollowed out and looked as if something could be inserted into it as well as what looked like a hand crack protruding from the right side of it connected to a set of clear gears.

Placing it against its waist a yellow strap emerged, wrapping itself around the rust haired teen and connected the other side of the odd looking device, securing itself to him. With the Driver in place, Shirou thrust his hand out towards the small mechanical creature.

As if by some unspoken command the Dragon shaped device suddenly flew in Shirou's direction, letting out another mechanical sounding cry as it did so, from her position Sakura watched as it landed in Shirou's outstretched hand.

The instant the Dragon landed in his hand Shirou folded out its head and tail before producing a cylindrical shaped object, shook it several times and twisted a cap located on top of it before inserting it into the square shaped object in their other hand.

WAKE UP!

That done, the rust haired teenager took the square and inserted it into a strange looking belt that was located around his waist.

CROSS DRAGON!

The block now in place, Shirou grabbed ahold of the hand crank and began turning it, the clear circular plate flashing blue as, from the thin air around them, a multitude of tubes appeared around them, creating a complex network, from which two pieces of an armored suit was produced, one in front of him and the other behind.

ARE YOU READY?

"Henshin…" He announced, all of a sudden the two half of the armor snapped together over him, both halves forming a black bodysuit with blue armored pieces, several of which sported a gold flame pattern, several of which were adorned in white fin like spikes, along with a helmet that featured a faceplate that was Draconic in design with two large blue lenses that momentarily gave off a blue glow before quickly fading.

WAKE UP BURNING! GET CROSS DRAGON! YEAH!

In that moment Sakura could do nothing but stare at the armored figure that stood a short distance away from her. "S…Senpai…" She muttered to herself, her eyes wide in disbelief at the sight before her. "Senpai is the Blue Dragon…."

The Blue Dragon. She'd heard the rumors of course, of a mysterious figure clad in armor that prowled the city streets at night, but she'd never given it much thought, why would she. This Blue Dragon was more than likely nothing more than the product of someone's overactive imagination.

Afterall heroes just did not exist in the modern world. True there were police officers, paramedics and firefighters, but heroes, in the traditional sense, was something that was sorely lacking in today's world. But even if they did, who would go out of their way to save someone like her.

Seeing the new arrival, the white and black creature let out a cry before charging towards the blue and gold clad figure who in turn began approaching it, swiping at him with one of its clawed arms only for the armored figure to lean out of the way of its attempt.

Having avoided the Smash's swing at him, the Blue Dragon responded by aiming a punch at it, his fist becoming engulfed in a fiery blue aura as he drove his fist into its midsection which caused it to stagger backwards a few steps.

Straightening up he delivered several more punches to the Needle Smash and followed it up with a kick that sent it sprawling to the ground.

From its place on the ground the Needle Smash let out a low sounding growl as it glared at the armored figure, all of a sudden it thrust one of its arms forward and launched a barrage of spikes at its opponent.

As the incoming projectiles flew towards him, multiple tubes emerged from the clear plate on the odd looking belt around the Blue Dragon's waist from which an odd looking sword appeared, the blue and gold armor clad fighter snatching it out of the air.

BEAT CROSSER!

Weapon now in hand the Blue Dragon slashed the air in front of him, using it to deflect the projectiles before they could reach him.

Grabbing the pommel of his sword the Blue Dragon and pulled on it, revealing that it was attached to a thin rod that was housed inside of the sword's handle, doing this a couple of times.

HIPPARE! HIPPARE!

All of a sudden the blade of his sword began to give off a pulsing energy. The Blue Dragon rushed towards the Needle Smash who had managed to get back up onto its feet and delivered a slash that caught it in the shoulder, the force of his swing knocking it back which in turn also created an energy wave that resembled music equalizer bars.

SMASH HIT!

With His opponent down the Blue Dragon grabbed another cylinder from off of his belt the armored figure shook it a few times and inserted it into a slot located on the crossguard of their sword.

SPECIAL TUNE!

That done, the Blue Dragon grabbed the pommel of his sword again and pumped it a few more times.

HIPPARE! HIPPARE!

Gripping the handle in both hands, Cross-Z assumed a wide legged stance as he raised his sword, the blade suddenly becoming engulfed in the same fiery blue aura that his first had produced, and unleashed a powerful slash, launching a torrent of blue flames that cut through the Needle Smash and engulfed it in flames.

MILLION SLASH!

Surrounded by fire and sparks of energy crackling off of its body, the spiky white and blue creature let out one final cry as it was engulfed in a large explosion.

The flames rose into the air coalesced together, becoming smaller and smaller and took the shape of a small object that then launched itself towards the Blue Dragon who effortlessly snatched it out of the air.

"Another one down." He muttered as he examined it, "I should get this to Misora as quickly as possible."

Reaching for the bottle that was loaded into his Driver, the blue, gold and black Armored figure removed it from the device in a flash the armor vanished from off of his body leaving Emiya Shirou standing there. Pocketing the pair of bottles the rust haired student then turned his attention to Sakura.

"Sakura, are you alright?" He asked.

Sakura stared at him, her eyes wide and the expression on her face a mixture of shock, confusion as well as a hint of nervousness, as she tried to make sense of everything that she'd bore witness too. "S…Senpai," She stammered, "your…you're the Blue Dragon?"

A sigh escaped from the rust haired boy as he shook his head."Looks like I've got some explaining to do." Shirou said to himself before turning his focus to his purple haired companion. "Oh, and it's Cross-Z. Kamen Rider Cross-Z."

AN And with that another chapter in this project is in the bag and not only that its now December once more, feels like only yesterday we just entered 2023 and now we're getting close to the end of it. Ah well, at least we've got Christmas to look forward to.

Also sorry that I'm a little late on posting this one, would have had it up yesterday buuut the subbed version of the Geats summer movie dropped and figured I'd watch it as well as getting caught up on King-Ohger and Gotchard.

For this installment we've entered the world of Kamen Rider Build. As said in the AN where I mentioned that I was working on this chapter Build was a show that I was hesitant to write partially because I knew that any Build chapter that I would write would inevitably be compared to Fate/Build The Mechanical Magus by Tailsmo4ever, although they haven't updated that story in a year.

My other issue was that I couldn't figure out whether I wanted Shirou to be Build or Cross-Z as he could work as either but that would leave me with the problem of who would fill the role of the other and if I'm honest IMO none of the other Fate characters are a good fit for either Build or Cross-Z.

In Tailsmo4ever story they pretty much seems to be on the path of having Rin becoming Cross-Z and I'm sorry but Rin is not a good fit for Cross-Z, she's too smart to be Cross-Z, however nor would she be a good replacement for Build since she's, y'know, a massive neophyte when it comes to science and technology.

I went with Shirou being Cross-Z simply cos I like Cross-Z suit more as I honestly dislike 98% of Build's suits. Cross-Z only has 1 bad suit suit (Charge) and 1 ok-ish if uninspired suit but is still ok for what it is (Great Cross-Z) . but pretty much everyone agrees that Cross-Z Charge was dog shit and no one was sad when Banjou's ̶P̶i̶e̶c̶e̶ ̶o̶f̶ ̶S̶h̶i̶t̶ Sclash Driver got destroyed and he had to switch back to the Build Driver.

You may think I'm being harsh but the Sclash Driver ends up being completely pointless despite how much it was hyped up to be when it first revealed in the show, yet only three items were made to be used by it, the Grease and Cross-Z Charge Jelly Packs as well as the Crocodile Fullbottle, heck even the supposed flaw to using it, y'know making the user super aggressive, a plot point that is literally dropped.

Maybe more was planned to be done with it but, according to a Reddit post anyway, when it came to the toy, the Jelly pack that were meant to be used in it were brittle and were prone breaking so I could see the Bandai telling the people making the show not to introduce any new Jelly Packs which is probably why by the very end everyone switched to using the Build Driver.

As for Great Cross-Z its ok for what it is literally just Cross-Z in Evolts colours that only existed to in Build's crappy summer movie.

And lastly, I think I've made pretty clear by now, I don't like Build as a show. The start was fine, I'd argue episodes 1-16 is Build's best arc in terms of story character and world building and payoff, but once you get to the Hokoto Invasion the show loses a lot of what of what made the first part of the show interesting, is basically circling the drain with the Seito Invasion, since its just the Hokoto Invasion again but with less reason for any one to care, and the show completely falls apart once Evolts shows up.

Ok, I think that that's enough complaining about Build.

Meanwhile on Gotchard, looks like the Abyssalis Sisters have finally decided to get serious and we've seen the introduction of Kamen Rider Dread and based on the beat down he gave to Gotchard and Valvard he's no joke. Wasn't totally sold on the idea Sabimaru being the one to use it but the show did give a satisfactory reason why he was picked to use the Dread Driver, that being he's very knowledgeable about the Chemy's and knowledge allows him how to use them to their full potential.

Based on how it works the Dread Driver essentially dominates the person wearing it and makes them act against their will, as well as drains the life force of whoever wears it, so even though Sabimaru's been freed from it Atropos made it pretty clear that he was just a guinea pig to test that the Dread Driver worked, based on that its possible that the Dread Driver could have multiple users over the course of the show.

Something that I did noticed is how similar Dread is in design his suit is to Gotchard, that and how his Driver seems to work, draining Chemy of their power, further compounding the idea that Dread is a dark reflection of Gotchard. While I'm not exactly thrilled as to how that fact that Hortaro needed the power of a level 10 Chemy to beat

Plus we got the second instalment of the Kamen Rider Legend special. Only thing that baffles me about the whole thing is have taken place, according to the wiki is supposedly takes place any time after episode 2 meaning that Hotaro went through just never mentioned meeting Kaguya to Rinne and the others or him possessing Chemy Cards based on other Kamen Riders. Regardless I pretty sure we haven't seen the last of Legend, I'll honestly be surprised if he doesn't appear again at some point.

I think that this is a good place to call it for now.

As always feel free you drop a comment and tell me your thoughts for this installment and I'll see you all next time for the Christmas chapter of this project as well as the 2023.

Till next time, peace out y'all.
