Chapter 9: A Cerulean Performance
Cerulean City Hotel- Sunrise
The sun rose slowly on a new morning. The skies colors were a mix of yellow, blue, orange, red, and pink. On top of the hotel, a flock of Dodrio jumped onto the rooftop and let out their cries; letting the city know that it is morning. As the cries echoed through the city; Sora, Pat, Zuzu, and Celina walked out of their rooms, yawned, and walked to the kitchen; seeing Zach making breakfast. "Morning, everyone." he said to them. "Morning." they replied. "Hey? Where's Tay?" Pat replied tiredly. "Right on the couch sound asleep. So I suggest we keep it down a little bit if we turn the TV or radio on." Zach replied. The group walked over to the couch and saw me sound asleep with Tetrax, Zuzu's Pikachu, Vulpix, Munchlax, Slurpuff, Wartortle, Pat's Bulbasaur, Rattata, Squirtle, Solar, Hurricane, Abra, Ekans, Clefairy, Clefable, Aurasoul, Dragonfire, and both Nidoran's. "Okay. This is way too cute. I'm snapping a pic of this." said Celina. "Same." Zuzu replied as she and Celina took out their phones. "Huh? Hey guys? Check out this note right here on the coffee table." Sora replied. "What does it say?" Pat replied as Sora picked up the note.
"It's from Taylor. It says that she has given Clefable a nickname." Sora replied. "She did? What did she call Clefable?" Zuzu replied. "She put down the name: Nova." Sora replied. "Nova, huh? I like that name. It relates to the rumor of the Clefable line coming from outer space." Celina replied. "Yeah." Zuzu replied. "Looks like we gotta step up on the nickname game if we want to nickname our Pokémon." Zach replied. "We sure do." Pat replied. After that, boys saw Zuzu and Celina taking pictures of me on their phones. "So this is where our Pokémon went. They decided to have a sleepover with Taylor." said Celina. "Maybe they wanted to help her go to sleep if they saw her all awake last night?" Zuzu replied. "Probably. Or maybe they wanted to bond with her and her team a little bit, and decided to have a sleepover together?" Celina replied.
"Send the pictures to the group chat. I wanna see what the group thinks of this." Pat replied. "Will do. Plus, now with Sora in the group chat... he can talk to them on how they became the people they are now." Zuzu replied. "Yeah!" Sora replied happily. They stopped taking pictures, and sent the photos to the group chat. "We've gotta make her send this to her Mom. She'll think this is the cutest thing she will ever see." said Zach. "Agreed. Though I hate to admit it... I'm pretty jealous of this right now. I want a big cuddle session with the Pokémon." Zuzu replied. "Same." Celina replied. "Maybe it will happen someday, when the time is right." Zach replied. "Yeah... hopefully it will happen soon." Zuzu replied. "It will. I promise." Zach replied. After that, they went back to the kitchen and prepared themselves for breakfast. As they filled their plates, they walked over to the living room and sat near the big cuddle pile I was in. Zach handed over my plate to my side of the table, sat down on the floor, and then he and the group prepared to eat. "Hold on. Zach. Put this by her plate." said Zuzu as she handed him an item. "What is this?" he asked her. "Her anxiety medicine. It fell out of her bag last night and I found it on the floor in our room." she replied.
"Okay." he replied. He put my medication right next to my plate, and then he saw my eyes begin to open. "Heh. Someone's waking up." said Celina. I tiredly opened my eyes, quietly yawned into my arm, and looked at the table; seeing a couple slices of toast and a cup of tea in front of me. I blinked my eyes, slightly looked up, and saw the group looking at me. "Good morning, sunshine." said Zach. I gently lifted up my right hand, and softly waved at him. "Did you enjoy the sleepover you have all over you last night?" he replied. "Hm?" I replied tiredly as I looked at the Pokémon sleeping around me. "I think she just noticed." Pat replied. The group lightly laughed at my reaction, and then Zach gently ruffled my hair; letting me know that it's okay. I slowly lifted myself up while trying not to disturb the Pokémon sleeping on me, and began to eat breakfast with the group. "Wait a second? How come Taylor's breakfast is very small?" said Sora. "Because she's a picky eater." Pat replied.
I picked up my pillow and threw it at Pat; shocking the group at first and then making them laugh a bit. "Geez, Tay... I was just playing with you." he said. "She knows. But, yes. She is very picky on then food she eats. We've known this ever since the multiple sleepovers we had at her house when we were younger." Zach replied. "That's true. Plus... her house always had the good snacks, if you know what I mean." Celina replied. "Oh, yeah. Always had the snacks our parents refused to get us." Pat replied. "No way really!? Taylor! Did you have really good candy and sweets at your house?" Sora replied. "Mhm." I replied after I finished my breakfast. "Man... you finished up quick." said Pat. "Mhm. It's enough to keep me full for a bit." I replied. I then quietly yawned, did a stretch, and then saw something next to my plate. I picked it up and saw my anxiety medication bottle was brought here. "Oh? So she did put this in my Bag after all." I said. "Your anxiety medication?" Zuzu replied. "How did you know?" I replied tiredly.
"I saw it fall from your bag by accident when you left it open on your bed last night. I'm sorry." she replied. "It's okay. I'd rather let you guys know about it than some random stranger." I replied. "That's true." she replied. I took my medication, closed the bottle, and put it in my hoodie pocket for now. "Man... your doctor was serious about putting you on meds for your trauma, huh?" said Pat. "Yep. But this is actually one of the medications that really works for me. As long as I take it after I eat something, it will ease my anxiety for the day." I replied. "That's good to hear." he replied. We nodded our heads in agreement, and then we heard the sounds of the Pokémon around me waking up. They opened their tired eyes, and saw all of us looking at them. "Good morning, sleepyheads." said Sora. "Did you all enjoy the little sleepover with Tay?" Zuzu replied. They blinked their eyes, nodded their heads yes to Zuzu's question, and then sniffed the air; realizing that they just missed breakfast.
"You guys want breakfast?" I asked them. The Pokémon perked their heads up, yawned, stretched, and then nodded their heads yes to my question. "Alright. We'll make you some breakfast. After that, we're getting cleaned up and heading outside to train. We need to prepare ourselves for our battle against Misty and her team." I replied. My team nodded their heads in understanding, and then me and the group went to the kitchen and made our teams their breakfast. As everyone ate, I snuck away from the group, went to the patio, climbed upto the top of the building, and took out Necrozma's Guardian Ball. I gently threw it up in the air, and watched it open; seeing Necrozma appear. "Hm? Oh? Good morning, Taylor." it said curiously. "Morning, Necrozma. I'd thought you would enjoy some sunlight for a bit." I replied. "Really? Why... thank you. How did you know about my species need to absorb Light?" it replied. "It was on a research site from the Alola region. One scientist posted about how your species needs to have both the sun and moon's light in order to survive. So, I decided on certain times of the day and night to let you come out and absorb some light from the sun and moon to keep you filled with energy." I replied.
"That's... very thoughtful of you... thank you." it replied. "You're welcome." I replied. We then relaxed and watched the sunrise together in peace. As it rose, I saw some of the sunlight being absorbed on Necrozma's body; giving it a small bit of energy for the day. "Hey, Necrozma? Why does your species like absorbing light?" I asked. "We absorb light because we need it in order to become our true form." it replied. "Your... true form..? So this form you're in right now is not your true form?" I replied. "Correct." it replied. "What does your true form look like?" I replied. "Well... I have not seen it myself with my own eyes... but from what I remember from stories... we turn into colossal dragons. Made with the light energy we absorb. Once we absorb enough light we need, we transform into those dragons." it replied. "Wow... that's amazing. But, what happens when you use up all the light you have absorbed? Does it return to where it came from?" I replied. "It does. After the light we absorb leaves us... we transform back into this form, and enter a deep slumber." it replied.
I was stunned to what it said about it's true form; now knowing something special of Necrozma and its species. "Wow... your species is incredible, Necrozma. I wonder if there are Pokémon out there that can go through powerful transformations just like you." I said. "I'm sure there are Pokémon out there that can go under transformations to help them in battle, but I guarantee that they won't be the same as my species." it replied. "You sure about that?" I replied. Necrozma turned to me, nodded its head yes to my question, and then turned back to the sun; absorbing more sunlight into its body. As I watched it absorb light, I saw the white parts of its body give off a small glow; shining like a small star in the night sky. "Tay? Tay? Where are you?" said a voice. "Shit!" I replied in a soft, shocked tone. "Was that one of your friends?" Necrozma replied curiously. "Yeah. And if one of them sees you with me right now after the news of the Museum, they're going to call me a thief and send me to jail." I replied worriedly. "Oh..? That wouldn't be good. Alright, just return me to the Guardian Ball for now. It will keep us safe from the public." it replied.
"Got it." I replied. I returned Necrozma to the Guardian Ball, hid it in my pocket, and then climbed back down to the patio. Once I stepped foot into my hotel room, I saw Celina and Zuzu looking at me. "Uh... hi." I said nervously. "What were doing out there?" Celina replied. "Nothing." I replied. "Tay... don't lie to us. What were you really doing out there?" Zuzu replied. I tried to think of a reason why I was up on the roof, but then a knock on the door stopped us. "Hey, girls. You gotta come out here. Someone sent us something." said Pat as he opened the door. "Okay. We're coming." Celina replied. Pat closed the door and went to the living room. "Hey. We got our eyes on you. Don't you dare run off from us again. Got it?" said Celina as she and Zuzu turned back to me. "Okay." I replied nervously. After that, I went to the bathroom, washed my face, left the room, and went to the living room; seeing the group sitting around a box on the table.
"What's this?" I asked. "It's a box from Misty and her sisters." Sora replied. "Really?" I replied. "Mhm!" Sora replied happily. "Come on, guys! Open it! I wanna see what's inside!" Pat replied. We opened the box and saw a note inside. "Huh? It's just a note?" said Celina. "What does it say?" Zuzu replied. "To the Trainers in this room, we want to thank you for your help during the Gyarados incident yesterday. You helped the people feel at ease and saved hundreds of lives while stopping the violent destruction that nearly destroyed everything in the city. As a way to say thank you, we want to personally invite you to the Cerulean Water Show at the Aquarium: where you and many guests will see and learn of Water-type Pokémon that are from the Kanto region and beyond in a story of a legendary hero who saved the world from a powerful fire that engulfed the Kanto region with their Water-type Pokémon. Inside the box with this note are VIP tickets for the show. We hope to see you there- Misty." Zach replied as he read the note.
He then took out the tickets and gave them to us, and then moved the box away. "No... way... VIP tickets..." said Zuzu in awe. "I've never gotten VIP tickets for anything before... this is amazing!" Celina replied. "Me either! Oh! I gotta send a pic of this to my parents!" Zuzu replied happily. "Me too!" Celina replied happily. The boys laughed happily at their reactions, and then turned to me; seeing me still staring at the ticket in my hand. "Hello..? Earth to Tay? You in there?" said Pat. I stayed silent and didn't answer to his response. "Wow... she's speechless." he said. "I don't think so. I think she zoned out more than anything." Celina replied. "I know what to do." Zach replied as he stood up from the floor. He walked over to me and snapped his fingers in front of my face; snapping me back to reality. "Hey! There we go. Welcome back to reality, buddy." he said as he did this. "Huh? What happened?" I replied. "You zoned out." Celina replied. "I did?" I replied curiously.
"Yep." she replied. I was stunned of what she had said and looked at the group all speechless. "It's okay, Tay. Everyone's train of thought stops from time to time, and they zone out. It's not a bad thing." said Zuzu. "Yeah. Think about it like this: your brain decided to do a mental restart in order to help you think about what to say after someone talks to you." Pat replied. "Yeah. Just like what he said. You were doing a mental reset. That's all." Zuzu replied. "Oh... okay." I replied. "Hold a second. Tay..? When hearing about a legendary hero in this note... did your mind make you stop and think this hero could be another one of the Guardians?" Zach replied curiously; shocking everyone. I blinked my eyes and nodded my head yes to his question. "No way! If that's true... there's gotta be another Guardian spot somewhere in the city!" said Sora. "Right. But... where in the city could it be?" Zuzu replied. "Maybe if we walk around and Taylor's Mark glows... then we'll know where it is?" Sora replied. The group nodded their heads in agreement to his response.
"Alright. It's settled then. Everyone, get cleaned up and dressed. We're going exploring for a Guardian spot!" said Zach. "Alright!" the group replied happily. After that, we all got cleaned up, dressed, and left our hotel room. We walked outside and then began to explore the city.
Cerulean City- Daytime
"Man... we've been walking around for hours and haven't found anything..." said Pat in a exhausted tone. "Yeah... and Tay's Mark didn't even glow at all today... I guess there is no Guardian spot here after all..." Zach replied. We then sat down in front of the water fountain and looked around at the people and Pokémon that were walking around the city. As we watched them, Squirtle crawled out of my arms and went into the fountain; playing with the water. "Squirtle!" he said happily. "Hm? Hey? What are doing in there, Squirtle?" I replied as I turned to the fountain. "Squirtle~" he replied as he played with the water. I couldn't help but smile at this little moment, seeing Squirtle all happy as he played with the water. Tetrax and Zuzu's Pikachu then jumped off me and Zuzu's shoulders, and stayed on the dry side of the fountain to keep an eye on Squirtle as he played.
"Huh? Pikachu? What are you doing?" said Zuzu. "She's helping Tetrax watch Squirtle; making sure he doesn't do anything bad." I replied. "Ah." she replied. "Hey? Where did the others go? They were just here?" I replied. "Oh? They went to go buy some snacks at the local Mart." she replied. "Ah." I replied. We sat in silence for a few moments, and then turned to each other. "Hey, Taylor? When you and that cloaked Trainer were fighting the Gyarados yesterday... did you feel like you were stronger than the past few days?" she asked me. "Hm..? Uh... maybe... maybe a little bit. But... I know that haven't gotten that much stronger yet. When I was controlling all of my Pokémon, I felt my body slowly losing its strength when I made them do a whole barrage of attacks on them." I replied. "Really? Maybe you were feeling drained because you haven't done something like that before?" she replied. "Yeah. It was something that I haven't done before. Maybe that would explain why I slept longer than I usually do. It was both my body and my powers telling me to rest and recharge myself in case I use them again." I replied.
"Mhm. I guess that it shows that you have a lot to learn how to control your powers. Once when you fully master them... you won't feel weak and pass out much anymore." she replied. "Mhm." I replied. We smiled warmly at each other, and then we were suddenly soaked with water. "Ah!" Zuzu lightly shrieked as we stood up. I shook my head like a Growlithe to get the water off my head, and then shook my hat to try to dry it. "Tay! You okay?" Zuzu asked me. "Yeah. I'm fine. How about you? You and Vulpix okay?" I replied. "Yeah. We're okay. Right, Vulpix?" she replied. "Vul." Vulpix replied. I used my powers to dry us off, and then we turned to the fountain; seeing both our Pikachu's soaken wet. I opened up my bag, took out a towel, picked up Tetrax, and began to dry him off. "Pika-Pi..." he said as I dried him off. "I know, sweetheart. I know. Just a couple more minutes, and then you'll be brushed and completely dry." I replied.
I stopped drying him with the towel a couple minutes later, and then I saw him become a static ball of fur. I lightly snickered at first, and then began to laugh at the sight. "Pi-ka! Pi-ka-chu..." he said. "Okay... I'm sorry, I'm sorry. I know I shouldn't laugh at you looking like this. It's not very mother-like. The next time this happens, I will not laugh." I replied as I brushed his fur back to its normal shape. "Pika-chu!" he replied happily after the brushing was done, jumped on my shoulder, and gave me a little nuzzle on my face. As he nuzzled, I felt a tiny static shock that frizzed my hair a bit. He then snickered and laughed at me at the sight of my hair all frizzy. "Heh. I guess we're even now?" I said to him as I fixed my hair with my powers. "Pi." he replied as he nodded his head and smirked at me; making me do the same to him.
"Oh my God. You two are so alike in personality." said Zuzu. Tetrax and I nodded our heads in agreement and shared a laugh together. We then turned to the fountain, and saw Squirtle looking at us curiously. "Squirtle?" he said. "Squirtle? Did you get us soaked from the fountain?" I replied. He shook his head no to my question. "Squirtle-Squirt." he said as he pointed at his mouth and opened it. "Oh? So you used Water Gun on us?" I replied. He closed his mouth and shook his head no to my question. "Water Pulse?" said Zuzu. "Squirt." Squirtle replied. "Surf?" she replied. "Squirt." he replied. "Hydro Pump?" I replied curiously. "Squirt! Squirtle-Squirt!" he replied happily. "Huh!? How does he already know Hydro Pump!?" Zuzu replied. "He must've learned it from his parents, right buddy?" I replied. "Squirtle!" he replied happily.
"Wait... Tay..." Zuzu replied. "Hm? What's up?" I replied curiously. "I just thought of the perfect name for Squirtle!" she replied. "Really? Okay. What name do you have in mind?" I replied. "How about: Hydro?" she replied. "Hydro? Because he uses Hydro Pump as one of his attacks?" I replied. "Mhm!" she replied. "Huh. Hydro, eh? I like it. What do you think, little guy? Do you want to be called Hydro?" I replied with a warm smile. "Squirt? Squirtle-Squirt!" he replied happily. He then jumped out of the fountain, landed in my arms, gave me a hug, and then made me drop a PokéBall from my bag. I turned around, knelt down, picked it up from the ground, and showed it to him. He sniffed it for a moment, and then looked up at me curiously. "Squirtle?" he said. "It's a PokéBall. We use them to catch Pokémon and keep them safe from anyone who would want to hurt them." Zuzu replied as she walked over to us. "Vul-pix!" Vulpix replied happily. "Squirt? Squirtle-Squirt..." Hydro replied. He looked at the PokéBall again, and then back to me.
"Are you thinking about traveling with her, Squirtle?" said a voice. We turned around, and saw Misty and her Blastoise and Vaporeon walk over to us. "Misty." said Zuzu happily. Misty smiled warmly at us, and then walked over to me; putting her arm around my shoulders. "Squirtle..." said Hydro. "Squirtle... I know that you've been thinking about traveling with her ever since she saved your life yesterday. And you saw how strong she was to take on those Gyarados. You know that not many people come out alive during a Gyarados attack... but that didn't stop her. She protected you with all her might and made sure you got out of the water alive. That's the kind of Trainer that all Pokémon should admire, don't you think?" Misty replied. Hydro blinked his eyes, thought about what she said for a moment, and then nodded his head yes to her. "See? I knew that you would agree." she said. She got her arm off my shoulders and gave my right shoulder a gentle pat.
Hydro and I then stared at each other silently, and then looked back down at the PokéBall in my hand. "It's all up to you, Hydro. Do you want to come along on the journey with me?" I said. He thought about it for a moment, and then nodded his head with a smile on his face. "Squirtle!" he said happily. "That sure sounded like a yes to me." Zuzu replied. "Pi-ka-chu." Zuzu's Pikachu replied happily. "Well then, it's official. Welcome to the team, Hydro!" I replied. "Squirtle!" Hydro replied happily. He touched the button of the PokéBall and it begun the capture process. It closed, shook three times, and then made a dinging sound; confirming the capture. "Squirtle has been registered to your PokéDex." said my Phone. I smiled happily and then raised Hydro's PokéBall up in the air. "Alright! I caught a Squirtle!" I said. "Pi-Pikachu!" Tetrax replied happily in celebration. After celebrating, I gently threw Hydro's PokéBall up in the air, and watched it open; making Hydro appear on the ground. "Squirtle!" he said happily.
I picked up in my arms and he smiled at all of us happily; making us do the same. "Hey! Tay! Zuzu! We're back!" said voice. We turned around and saw our group return from the market. "Hey, guys." I said. "What did we miss?" Pat replied. "Oh... not much. Taylor just officially caught Squirtle." Zuzu replied. "What!?" the group replied in shock. "Yep. Everyone, I officially to introduce to you: Hydro." I replied. "Squirtle!" Hydro replied happily. "Hi, Hydro." Sora replied. "Munch." Munchlax replied happily. "Slurpuff." Slurpuff replied happily. "Squirt-Squirtle." Hydro replied happily. As everyone greeted him, my mind and powers quickly sensed something near by coming our way. I looked up at the trees and saw a little shine of an object coming our way. I quickly ran and grabbed the object as it almost hit Zach; shocking everyone. "What the!? Tay!?" he said as he turned to me.
"You alright?" I asked him. "Yeah... I'm okay... you almost gave me a heart attack with that. Speaking of which... what is that thing you're holding?" he replied as we inspected the item. "It's a harpoon." Misty replied. "A harpoon? Who would throw one around here?" Celina replied. Before anyone could say another word, a powerful blast of water was fired nearby. Misty's Blastoise jumped in front of us and protected us from the blast; surrounding us in a green energy shield. "Hey... Blastoise is using Protect..." said Sora. "Good job, Blastoise." Misty replied. "Blast." Blastoise replied. Blastoise stepped away to the right, and then we saw a Pokémon jump out in front of us; ready to fight. "What is that?" said Pat. "It's a Poliwrath." Misty replied. "Poliwrath?" Celina replied as she took out her Phone; activating her PokéDex. "Poliwrath, the Tadpole Pokémon. A Water and Fighting type, and the one of the evolved forms of Poliwhirl. Poliwrath is skilled at both swimming and martial arts. It uses its well-trained arms to dish out powerful punches." said Celina's Phone.
"Poli-wrath!" said Poliwrath as it got into its battle stance. "Blas-toise..." Blastoise replied as it got into its battle stance. Vaporeon growled and was prepared to fight too; ready to defend Misty. Tetrax jumped off my shoulder, growled, and crackled electricity from his cheeks; ready to fight. "Enough, Poliwrath!" said a voice. "Wrath... Poli-wrath..." Poliwrath replied as it turned around, and saw a tall man walk upto it. "Stand down. We're not here to fight. We're here for the harpoon you threw." the man told it. "Wrath..." Poliwrath replied. I walked over slowly to the man and gave him his harpoon back. "Thank you. Now, Poliwrath. Apologize for nearly attacking them with the harpoon." said the man. "Poli!? Wrath. Poli-wrath." Poliwrath replied as it bowed to us. "It's alright. No one was harmed. Right, everyone?" Misty replied. We nodded our heads yes to her question. "Now then... as for you... what is a Trainer like you doing with a harpoon? Are you a hunter?" she said.
"Me? No... I am not a hunter, nor a poacher. This harpoon was given to me by my father when I was a teenager. He used this harpoon to fend off against rogue Sharpedo in Pacifidlog Town." the man replied. "Pacifidlog Town? I see... so you're from the Hoenn region." Misty replied. "Correct. I am Mako Tsunami, the strongest Fisherman and Water type Trainer in Pacifidlog Town." Mako replied. "A Fisherman, huh? That means you must know a lot about Water type Pokémon?" Misty replied. "Indeed. I've grown up with Water type Pokémon all of my life. They are are the reason I enjoy the nature of water and where it flows. No matter if it is a puddle, pool, lake, river, waterfall, or ocean... I see and understand the nature of water and how it cooperates with the nature of land itself. Whether it is helping the grass and plants grow, or dousing the flames of a fire... the water of this world is the true source of nature." Mako replied.
"Wow... that was... a unique thing to say, Mako." Misty replied. "Why, thank you. It makes me feel humbled to hear that from you, Misty." Mako replied. "Huh? How did you know my name?" Misty replied. "Ha ha! I've heard of you from the people of my town. They talk high praise of you and every top Water type expert all around the world." Mako replied. "Really? That's amazing." she replied. "Indeed. Plus... there is a reason why I am here." he replied. "Oh? And would that be to challenge me at my Gym?" she replied. "Correct. I want to test the strength of me and my team at your Gym in battle to show you how strong my Water type Pokémon truly are." he replied. "Poli!" Poliwrath replied. Misty was surprised of his request for a moment, and then smiled at him. "Alright. I accept your challenge." she said. "What!?" we said surprised.
"But, Misty? What about the show?" said Sora. "Don't worry, Sora. We still got plenty of time for the show. Besides, I need to get all of my Gym battles done for the day before the show begins." Misty replied. "Oh? Okay. That's a relief." Sora replied. "Pardon me? Did your little friend say that there is a water show here in the city?" Mako replied. "Why, yes. There is. We're having show over at the Aquarium later this evening hosted by me and my sisters. You're more than welcome to come join and watch the show." Misty replied. "I'd be happy to do that." Mako replied. After that, we all went to the Cerulean Gym. Misty and Mako went to the battlefield, and me and my group went to the stands to sit down and watch the battle with the crowd.
Cerulean Gym
"Wow... it sure is packed in here..." said Pat. "Yeah... I wonder how Tay's going to handle all the noise..?" Zuzu replied. The group turned to me and quickly noticed my anxiety begin to take over me. "Oh no... I guess the medicine wore off..." said Sora worriedly. I looked around anxiously and tried to block out the noise, but I was overwhelmed. I tried to cover my ears, but Zach and Zuzu gently took my hands and held them; calming my senses. "Huh?" I said curiously. "It's alright, Tay. We're here. It's okay." said Zach calmly. "Just breathe. You'll be okay. If it becomes too much for you to handle, we'll go back to the hotel to calm you down." Zuzu replied. I blinked my eyes at them, and then silently nodded my head in understanding. "...Thank you." I said. "No problem, bud. Just breathe it out, and you'll be alright." Zach replied.
I nodded my head in understanding, and took a deep breathe; beginning to calm my anxiety down. "There you go. Breathe in. And, breathe out." said Celina as she patted my shoulders and did my breathing exercises. "Hey. Looks like it's working. She's not shaking anymore." Sora replied. "Mhm. After that, when the battle starts... the sight of it will clear her mind." Pat replied. Sora nodded his head in agreement, and then we looked down at the field; seeing Mako and Misty take their places. "Whoa... she has a giant shell behind her on the platform..." said Zuzu. "Vul..." Vulpix replied. "Yeah... they don't call her the Tomboyish Mermaid for nothing." Celina replied. We nodded our heads in agreement, and then saw both Misty and Mako prepare to send out their first Pokémon. But before they could do that, they saw someone with a League Official patch on their shirt step onto the field, and greet the crowd.
"Greetings, Pokémon Trainers and fans all over the world. My name is Nico Smiley, and I am here as your official Gym Battle announcer for the battle here in Cerulean City! Now, for those who are watching at home. We're here in Cerulean City a day after a near tragic event that took place near Nugget Bridge and the city itself. This land was nearly destroyed by a group of Gyarados that had went rampant and nearly took the lives of everything in sight! But they were stopped by two powerful Pokémon Trainers and helped keep this beloved city safe from utter destruction!" said Nico. The crowd cheered in excitement of the story, and my group gave me pats on my back and shoulders; making me smile. "You hear that? Those cheers are for you and that cloaked Trainer who worked alongside you!" said Celina. "Yeah... that's amazing!" I replied.
"We may not know the true identities of these two heroes... but wherever they are, we thank them for their service and wonder where will they return to save the world from destruction! So, in celebration of the two heroes: we are live on streams and televisions all over the world; showing everyone this Gym Battle! Introducing first: the Challenger! Coming all the way from Pacifidlog Town in the Hoenn Region. The bravest and strongest Fisherman in the world: Mako Tsunami!" said Nico. The crowd cheered for a moment, and then Nico turned over to Misty's direction. "And his opponent. Hailing from Cerulean City, the Tomboyish Mermaid and Gym Leader herself: Misty!" said Nico. The crowd cheered loudly for Misty as she waved to the crowd, and then turned to face Mako. "You ready for this, Mako?" she said. "I was born ready. Now, come at me with your full strength! Go, Poliwrath!" Mako replied.
"Wrath! Poli-wrath!" Poliwrath replied as it jumped onto the field. "Outstanding! Mako sends out Poliwrath as his first Pokémon! You can tell that it is ready for a fight by the look in its eyes, clutch of its fist, and its battle stance. Now what will Misty choose as her first Pokémon for the battle?" Nico replied. Misty smirked confidently at Mako and Poliwrath, and took out a Lure Ball from her belt. "Poliwrath, huh? Well I got something special just for it! Go, Golduck!" she said as she threw the Lure Ball up in the air, watched it open, and then see Golduck appear. "Gol-duck!" said Golduck. It dived into the water, swam around Poliwrath, and then jumped out of the water and landed onto Misty's side of the platform. "Oh, it's Golduck! This is spectacular! Misty chose a perfect counter against Poliwrath's physical prowess." Nico replied.
"A Golduck?" said Pat curiously. He took out his Phone and activated his PokéDex. "Golduck, the Duck Pokémon. A Water type, and the evolved form of Psyduck. Golduck is the fastest swimmer among all Pokémon. It swims effortlessly, even in a rough, stormy sea. It sometimes rescues people from wrecked ships floundering in high seas. When it swims at full speed using its long, webbed limbs, the red gem on its forehead somehow begins to glow and let it use telekinetic powers." said Pat's Phone. "Whoa... that's so cool! But wait... if it can use psychic powers... how come it isn't Psychic type too?" he replied. "Maybe that's what Researchers showed the Professors and they confirmed Golduck to be pure Water type?" Sora replied. "Maybe..? Let's see how powerful Golduck's psychic powers are." Pat replied. Sora nodded his head in agreement to his response. "Alright! Battle, begin!" said Nico.
Battle! Mako vs. Misty!
"Golduck! Use Light Screen!" said Misty. "Duck! Gol-duck!" Golduck replied as the red gem on its forehead glew red and its eyes glew light blue, and created a light blue barrier around itself. "Oh? What a surprise move to use on the first turn! Now with Light Screen activated, Golduck and all of Misty's team will take less damage from special attacks!" said Nico. "Wait... why did she use Light Screen? Poliwrath is a physical attacker. If Mako's Poliwrath has Brick Break in its moveset.. it's going to break the Light Screen." said Pat. "True. But I think she set up the Light Screen to protect her team from any of Mako's Pokémon that have special moves." Celina replied. "Really?" Pat replied curiously. "Mhm. We don't know how many Pokémon their going to use at all just yet. So let's just wait and see what happens here." Celina replied. Pat nodded his head in agreement, and then turned back to the battlefield.
"Alright, Poliwrath! Destroy that Light Screen with Brick Break!" said Mako. "Poli! Wrath! Poli-wrath!" Poliwrath replied as one of its hands glew yellow, jumped towards Golduck, and broke Light Screen with the attack. "Golduck!?" said Golduck surprised. "What!?" Misty replied in shock. "Amazing! Mako knew how to get rid of Golduck's Light Screen with a powerful Brick Break attack! Now what will these two Pokémon do next?" said Nico. "Poliwrath! Use Close Combat!" Mako replied. "Poli! Poli-wrath! Po-li! Po-li! Po-li! Po-li! Poli-wrath!" Poliwrath replied as it used Close Combat on Golduck; slightly damaging it. "Hang in there, Golduck! I know you can do it!" Misty replied. Poliwrath ended the attack, watched Golduck be pushed back by the force of the attack, and stand tall from the impact. "Wrath!?" said Poliwrath surprised. "What!? Impossible! How could it withstand the attack!?" Mako replied.
The crowd gasped at Golduck still standing on the field, but Misty smirked at the shocked faces of Mako and Poliwrath. Golduck turned to her, nodded its head, and turned back to it opponent. "Let's end this fight, Golduck! Use Psychic!" she said. "Golduck! Gol-duck!" Golduck replied as its eyes and gem glew again, lifted up Poliwrath in the air, and threw it back to a wall behind Mako; knocking it out. "Ah! Poliwrath!" said Mako worriedly. The referee went to Poliwrath, checked on its condition, and raised up her hand. "Poliwrath is unable to battle! Golduck is the winner!" she said. "Incredible! Golduck defeats Poliwrath with a powerful Psychic attack! Even when it was nearly beaten down by Close Combat, it striked back with Poliwrath's weaknesses!" Nico replied as the crowd cheered.
"Whoa... Golduck is just that strong..." said Sora. "Not just strong... it is very well trained. Not that many Golduck could withstand a Close Combat like that. I don't know how long Misty has raised Golduck... but she just proved how it can withstand a powerful physical move like that." Celina replied. Mako returned Poliwrath to its PokéBall, and smiled warmly at it. "You did your best, old friend. Now get a good rest." he said. He then turned back to Misty and Golduck; seeing them looking at him. He then took out a Dive Ball from his pocket, looked down at it, smirked, and then looked at Misty. "That Golduck of yours is strong, Misty. You have trained it very well to withstand my Poliwrath's attacks... but can its power withstand this!? Go, Sharpedo!" he said as he threw the Dive Ball up in the air, watched it open, and see Sharpedo appear in the water of the pool. "Shar-pedo." growled Sharpedo.
"And Mako's second Pokémon is The Bully of the Sea itself: Sharpedo! And judging by the look in its eyes, I think it is hungry for battle and wanting to sink its teeth into Golduck to claim victory for Mako!" Nico replied. Some of the crowd began to shake in fear at the sight of Sharpedo, while us and many others were very interested in it; knowing that we have never seen it in real life before. Sora took out his phone and activated his PokéDex. "Sharpedo, the Brutal Pokémon. A Water and Dark type, and the evolved form of Carvanha. Nicknamed "the bully of the sea," Sharpedo is widely feared. Its cruel fangs grow back immediately if they snap off. Just one of these Pokémon can thoroughly tear apart a supertanker. They are the natural predators of Wailmer, Finneon, Lumineon, Lanturn, and Squirtle." said Sora's PokéDex.
"What!?" we said surprised. "They... they eat Squirtle's..." Zach replied worriedly. "Yeah..." Sora replied worriedly. Zach then felt his stomach begin to turn upside down. "I think I'm going to puke." he said. I squeezed his hand, and it made him turn to me. "If you throw up right here, right now on any of us... you're paying for our laundry." I told him. He gulped nervously and then squeezed my hand back. "Hey. Breathe. In and out. I'm not going to let you suffer." I said calmly. He did the same breathing exercises as I did before, and then felt his body begin to calm down. "Better?" I asked him. "Yeah... a little bit. Thanks, Tay." he replied. "You're welcome." I replied. We smiled warmly at each other, looked down at out hands interlocked with each other, and then quickly turned away from each other before we looked at each other again; blushing wildly. We let our hands go, and then gave each other light friendly shoves to try and distract our thoughts. We then turned to the battlefield, and then saw Golduck jump up in the air, dive into the water, and then swam back up; seeing Mako and Sharpedo watching it.
"Wait... why did it dive into the water?" I asked. "I don't know..? But I have a feeling this won't be good..." Zach replied. "Shark bait, hoo ha ha!" said Pat and Sora together. I nearly let out a cackle from what they said, but I stopped myself from doing so. "I saw that. You stopped yourself from laughing." said Celina. "Oh, man... I'm sorry. But what they just said was good." I replied as I wiped a tear off my face. "True. But right now, you've got an opponent to focus on." she replied. "Right." I replied. After that, my focus returned to the battlefield.
"Golduck! Use Psychic!" said Misty. "Duck! Gol-duck!" Golduck replied as it used Psychic on Sharpedo, and then saw the attack fail; making it growl and smirk at it. "Gol-duck!?" said Golduck in shock. "What!? That's impossible!? How did Psychic not work on Sharpedo!?" Misty replied. "That's because Sharpedo is part Dark type. Psychic type moves do not work on Dark type Pokémon." Mako replied. "Shar." Sharpedo replied. "Ah! Golduck! Swim away from Sharpedo!" Misty replied. "Golduck!" Golduck replied as it went underwater and began to swim away from Sharpedo's sight. "I don't think so! Because now we'll show you how vicious the sea can be! Sharpedo! Use Aqua Jet!" Mako replied. "Shar! Shar-pe-do!" Sharpedo replied as it surrounded itself with water, dived underwater, dashed towards Golduck, and hit it with the attack; launching it up out of the water. "Gol-duck!" said Golduck. "Oh no! Golduck!" Misty replied worriedly. "Now use Night Slash!" Mako replied.
"Shar! Shar-pe-do!" Sharpedo replied as its fins glew purple, and dived down at Golduck; slashing it down with the attack. The impact of the attack made Golduck fall down into the water of the pool, and nearly got all the people wet in the first two rows from the force of the water moving to the stands. "Golduck!" said Misty worriedly. The ref jumped into the water, swam to Golduck as it floated back upto the surface, saw its condition, and raised her hand. "Golduck is unable to battle! Sharpedo is the winner!" she said. "Incredible! The fierce power of Sharpedo and its Night Slash have taken down Golduck! That, ladies and gentlemen, is what happens when you battle a Sharpedo at sea. Once their eyes are set on you, you'll be nothing but chum to them!" Nico replied as the crowd reacted to Golduck's defeat. "Golduck, return." Misty replied as she returned Golduck to its Lure Ball.
"Aw, man... Golduck did great before that final attack." said Sora. "Yeah. But now we have to wonder who will Misty bring out next." Celina replied. Sora nodded his head in agreement, and then looked back at the battlefield. "You were great, Golduck. Now take a good rest." said Misty. She took out a PokéBall, and stared down Mako. "That Sharpedo sure is strong... but is it strong enough to take on this? Go, Blastoise!" she said as she threw the Pokémon up in the air. It opened and Blastoise appeared on the platform. "Blas-toise!" said Blastoise. "And the Gym Leader's second Pokémon is Blastoise! Can the power of Blastoise's cannons in its shell take on Sharpedo? Or will Sharpedo make a feast out of Blastoise?" Nico replied as the crowd cheered and gasped at Blastoise. After he said that, Hydro came out of his PokéBall on his own, stayed on my lap, and saw Blastoise on the battlefield. "Squirtle? Squirt! Squirtle-Squirt!" he cheered. I took out my Phone and activated my PokéDex.
"Blastoise, the Shellfish Pokémon. A Water type, and the evolved form of Wartortle. Blastoise has water spouts that protrude from its shell. The water spouts are very accurate. They can shoot bullets of water with enough accuracy to strike empty cans from a distance of over 160 ft." said my PokéDex. I blinked my eyes, looked down at Hydro as he cheered for Blastoise, and then to Misty's Blastoise. "If what my PokéDex says is true about the cannon's on Blastoise's shell... then let's see how truly strong they are.." I said in my thoughts.
"Alright, Sharpedo! Hit 'em with multiple Night Slash's!" said Mako. "Shar! Shar-Shar-pedo!" Sharpedo replied as it used Night Slash on Blastoise multiple times. "Oh! Look at that! Blastoise's bulk is withstanding the Night Slash's that Sharpedo is giving it! It's no wonder why to some Trainers that Blastoise is hard to defeat. Even with an type advantage!" Nico replied. "Keep it up, Blastoise!" Misty replied. "What is she doing? Why is she letting Blastoise take the attack head on?" Mako replied to himself. "Shar-Shar-Shar-Shar-Shar-Shar-Shar-pe-do!" Sharpedo replied as it kept using Night Slash. After the final slash, it jumped out of Blastoise's way, and swam over to Mako's platform; breathing heavily. "What!? Sharpedo's energy has gone down!? That's impossible!?" Mako replied in his thoughts. Misty smirked at Mako and then Blastoise smirked at Sharpedo. "Now, Blastoise! Trap Sharpedo with Whirlpool!" said Misty.
"Blast! Blas-toise!" Blastoise replied as it dived into the pool, went underwater, swam to under Sharpedo's s belly, made its eyes glow a blueish-white color, surrounded itself with water energy, tucked in its shell, and then spun around under Sharpedo; using the energy around it to make the whirlpool and trap Sharpedo. "Ah! Sharpedo!" Mako replied. "Amazing! Blastoise has trapped Sharpedo in a powerful Whirlpool! The Gym Leader has used the perfect strategy to trap Sharpedo after seeing it use up its energy after using multiple Night Slash's against Blastoise, and has now made it nearly impossible for Sharpedo to escape! But now what will happen, folks? Is this the end of Sharpedo's hunt? Or will it become the prey itself against Blastoise?" Nico replied as the crowd was shocked by Misty's strategy. "Sharpedo! Swim out of there! I know you can do it!" Mako replied.
"Sh-Shar..." Sharpedo replied tiredly. "I don't think so! This is where Sharpedo's hunt comes to and end! Blastoise! Use Aura Sphere to launch Sharpedo up in the air!" Misty replied. "What!?" me and my group replied in shock. "Blast! Blas-Blastoise!" Blastoise replied as it created two Aura Spheres from the cannon's on its shell, and then fired them at Sharpedo; damaging and launching it up in the air. "Shar!" said Sharpedo in pain. "No! Sharpedo!" Mako replied worriedly. Blastoise then quickly swam upto the surface, and jumped up in the air; staring down its opponent. "Let's end this battle, Blastoise! Hydro Pump!" Misty replied. "Blast! Blas-toise!" Blastoise replied as it nodded its head, aimed the cannons at Sharpedo, and then fired them with powerful blasts water from them; hitting Sharpedo and sending it crashing to the walls behind Mako. "Sharpedo!" said Mako worriedly.
The ref went over to Sharpedo, checked its condition, and then raised her hand. "Sharpedo is unable to battle! Blastoise is the winner!" she said. "Outstanding! Blastoise had defeated Sharpedo with Aura Sphere and Hydro Pump! I did not see it coming with Blastoise using Aura Sphere, since it is a move that it cannot learn naturally. But the Gym Leader knew that this move would come in handy to take down Dark type Pokémon like Sharpedo with ease!" Nico replied as the crowd cheered. "No... way... since when can Blastoise learn Aura Sphere..?" Pat replied. "I don't know..? I've never seen another Pokémon besides Aurasoul that can use Aura Sphere." Celina replied. "Maybe that's who they learned it from..." Zach replied. "Huh!?" the group replied in shock.
"Think about it. If Misty did see Taylor train with Aurasoul years ago and saw how powerful Aura Sphere is to the Lucario line... maybe she decided to help Blastoise learn and master the move to take down opponents like Sharpedo to throw them off and surprise them..?" Zach replied. "Yeah... but Nico said they can't naturally learn Aura Sphere... so how did Blastoise truly learn it? By TM or something?" Pat replied. "Maybe?" Zach replied. After that conversation, I looked down at Hydro as he stared at Blastoise. "Heh. Did you like what Blastoise did to win?" I asked him. "Squirtle!" he replied happily as he looked up at me and nodded his head with a smile. "You wanna be just like it, buddy?" I replied. "Squirtle-Squirt!" he replied. "Tell you what? What if Aurasoul and I can teach you how to use Aura Sphere one day? That way you can surprise your foes just like how Blastoise did. That sound good to you?" I replied. "Squirt! Squirtle-Squirt!" he replied happily. "Pi-ka-chu!" Tetrax replied happily.
I smiled happily at them, and then we turned to Mako as he returned Sharpedo to its Dive Ball. "You were excellent out there, Sharpedo. Take a good rest." he said. He turned back to Misty, and then took out a Lure Ball. "Your Blastoise is very strong, Misty. I never expected that it knew a move that was strong against Dark type Pokémon." he said. "Thanks. Let's just say that Blastoise and I learned that move from an old friend of ours who has a Pokémon who can use it too." Misty replied; shocking me and my group. "Really? Your friend must be a very strong person to teach you something like Aura Sphere?" Mako replied. "Yeah. She is." Misty replied. "But can that move defeat my final and fiercest Pokémon!? Go, Tentacruel!" Mako replied as he smirked and threw the Lure Ball up in the air. the Lure Ball opened, and Tentacruel appeared in the water; staring down Blastoise in a violent way. "Tent..." said Tentacruel in a dark tone.
"And Mako's final Pokémon is Tentacruel! It is widely known as one of the deadliest Pokémon to ever encounter in the water! This Pokémon can capture prey with its 80 tentacles, and prevent them from escaping until it is weakened by the poison it releases from them. Now if you ever see a wild Tentacruel out at sea... you better hope you have Electric and Psychic type Pokémon with you if you ever want to make it out alive, because this predator will not stop until you are in its grasp!" Nico replied as the crowd reacted to Tentacruel. Zuzu took out her Phone and activated her PokéDex. "Tentacruel, the Jellyfish Pokémon. A Water and Poison type, and the evolved form of Tentacool. Tentacruel has large red orbs on its head. The orbs glow before lashing the vicinity with a harsh ultrasonic blast. This Pokémon's outburst creates rough waves around it." said Zuzu's PokéDex.
"Ten-ta-cruel." Tentacruel replied as it slowly moved its tentacles in the water. "Ha ha ha! So what is your plan now, Gym Leader? Do you think your all mighty Blastoise can take down a powerful Pokémon like Tentacruel?" Mako replied with a smirk. "Blastoise, return!" Misty replied. Blastoise was returned to its PokéBall, and Misty switched it out for a Dive Ball. "Oh? It seems that Misty has made Blastoise return to its PokéBall. Does the Gym Leader have something that can take on Tentacruel? Or does she have a Pokémon that Tentacruel will easily defeat and win the Cascade Badge for Mako?" Nico replied as the crowd was curious of Misty's decision. She took a deep breath, looked at the crowd as they watched her, and then turned to Mako. "This is it. You're all I have left in this fight! Go, Starmie!" she said as she threw the Dive Ball up in the air. It opened and Starmie appeared on the platform. "Hyah!" said Starmie.
"Amazing! Misty's final Pokémon! It's her signature Pokémon: Starmie! For those who have faced this Starmie before, some know how powerful this one truly is!" Nico replied as the crowd cheered for Starmie. "There it is! Her ace Pokémon!" Sora replied. "Her ace?" Pat replied. "Mhm. Me, Celina, and Yuri have seen all the Starmie battle videos from the League website. She always saved Starmie for last to take on opponents! Especially for people who come to challenge her with Bulbasaur as their Starter." Sora replied. "I see..." Pat replied. Celina took out her Phone and activated her PokéDex. "Starmie, the Mysterious Pokémon. A Water and Psychic type, and the evolved form of Staryu. Starmie swims through water by spinning its star-shaped body as if it were a propeller on a ship. The core at the center of this Pokémon's body glows in seven colors. Because of its luminous nature, this Pokémon has been given the nickname "the gem of the sea."." said Celina's PokéDex.
"Wait... it's part Psychic?" Zach replied curiously as he and I turned to her. "Mhm. She knew of Tentacruel's weakness. Now its just a matter of time of how she can outsmart it before it gets poisoned." she replied. "Right." he and I replied. We turned back to the battlefield, and then saw Starmie jump into the water. "Chase after it, Tentacruel! Show Starmie how a real hunter thrives in the water!" said Mako. "Cruel!" Tentacruel replied as it dived underwater, and chased after Starmie. The audience looked at the screens in the Gym, and watched the chase go on. Tentacruel thrashed its tentacles all around the water; trying to reach Starmie, but Starmie dodged them with ease. "Tentacruel! Use Brutal Swing!" said Mako. "Tent! Ten-ta-cruel!" Tentacruel replied as it's tentacles glew red, and swung them at Starmie; hitting it successfully. Starmie was pushed back, but quickly shook off the pain, and dodged another Brutal Swing coming its way. "Starmie! Stop the Brutal Swing with Dazzling Gleam!" said Misty.
"Yah! H-yah!" Starmie replied as it got to its battle stance, made its gem glow, and used Dazzling Gleam to stop the Brutal Swing; slightly damaging Tentacruel. "Tent!" Tentacruel cried. "What!? Tentacruel, Poison Jab!" Mako replied surprised. "Ten! Ten-ta! Tentacruel!" Tentacruel replied as it shook off the pain, made its tentacles glow purple, and used Poison Jab on Starmie. "Outstanding! Look at this! Even after stopping Brutal Swing with Dazzling Gleam, Tentacruel is showing Starmie that it still has the strength to fight! But can that Poison Jab give Mako a miracle if Starmie gets poisoned from the attack? Or will Starmie withstand the pain and end this battle with its psychic powers?" Nico replied as the crowd watched in awe.
Starmie was pushed back by the Poison Jab, shook off the pain, and looked at Tentacruel as its gem glew red; making Tentacruel's orbs glow red as well. "What!? It withstood that ambush!?" said Mako. Misty smirked again, and clutched her hand into a fist. "Alright, Starmie! Use Thunderbolt!" she said. "Hyah! Hy-ah!" Starmie replied as it surrounded itself in yellow electricity, and used the attack on Tentacruel; shocking and giving Tentacruel massive damage. "Tenta!" Tentacruel cried in pain. "What!?" Mako replied in shock. "Now use Psychic!" Misty replied. "Hyah! H-yah!" Starmie replied as it surrounded itself in a light blue energy, used it to grab and lift Tentacruel and itself up out of the water, and used attack to hit the metal bars of the ceiling; making it fall back down to the water. "Tentacruel!" said Mako worriedly.
Starmie landed back on the platform safely, turned to the water, and saw Tentacruel slowly lift its head up, blink its eyes once, and then faint. "Ten-ta-cruel." said Tentacruel as it went down and fainted. The ref went over to Tentacruel, saw its condition, and raised her hand. "Tentacruel is unable to battle! Starmie is the winner! And that means the victor of the Gym battle is Misty!" she said. "And there it is! The victor of the battle is the Cerulean City Gym Leader, Misty! This battle was outstanding! Both Trainers today showed us how they have used the battlefield to their advantage, and the fierce power of Water type Pokémon like no one has seen before! Let's all give these Trainers a well deserved round of applause!" Nico replied. The crowd clapped and cheered for both Trainers; happy to see how this battle finished.
Mako returned Tentacruel to its Dive Ball, and looked down at it. "Thank you, my friend. You did your best." he said. "Mako." Misty replied. "Hm?" he replied as he looked up and saw Misty and Starmie walk upto him. "Misty... thank you for this battle." he said. "No. I should be the one thanking you for the battle. You showed me how physically powerful your Pokémon are. I'm very impressed. You have raised them well." she replied. "Thank you. Your team was very strong as well. You've trained them well on how to endure physical attacks. I've never met a Trainer that would withstand the physical strength of my team until today. I guess that I have to learn how to handle your team's special attacks in order to win here again someday." he replied. "Yeah. And whenever you want a rematch here, I'll be ready for you." she replied.
He smiled at her words, and then they shook hands. The crowd cheered at the moment, and then the Gym began to empty itself out for 20 minutes. We walked outside, and then turned back at the Gym. "Hey, Tay? You think you got Misty's battle style memorized?" Pat asked me. "Yeah... but I wonder if she's got anything else up her sleeve?" I replied. "Huh? What do you mean by that?" Zuzu replied. "Remember during my battle with Brock when he used his Steelix against me?" I replied. "Oh yeah! I remember! Do you think Misty might have something similar if she wants to face you in the battle?" Pat replied. I nodded my head yes to his question. "Maybe she might have a Gyarados of her own to challenge yours?" said Zach. "Maybe... I'll know if I see it." I replied. The group nodded their heads in agreement, and then we began to walk to the Aquarium.
Cerulean City Aquarium- Water Show Stage
We walked inside the Aquarium, went to the Stage room, and saw the props of the show were being set up and prepared. "Whoa..." said Celina and Zuzu in awe. "Looks like they're excited." Sora replied. "Yep." Zach and Pat replied. We walked over to the stage, walked up the stairs, and saw Misty and her sisters helping out with the prep. "Misty." I said. "Hm? Oh! Hey guys! Came here early for the show?" she replied as she and her sisters turned to us. "Yeah... but we want to ask you something about the story of the show." I replied. "Oh? And that would be?" she replied. "Well... we think we the hero that stopped the fire had this on their hand." I replied as I took off my glove and showed her my Mark. They stared at it in shock for a moment, turned to each other, and then looked at us. "...Follow us." said Misty. "Huh!?" the group replied in shocked. "Trust us. You might want to see this." Misty replied. We turned to each other, thought about it for a moment, and then followed Misty and her sisters. We walked into an office room, closed the door, and watched Misty and her sisters look around the room for something. "Ah! There it is!" said Violet. "What is it?" Zuzu replied.
"A painting of the hero that saved Kanto from the fire. His name is Caspian. During his time on this world over 300 years ago, he was known as the strongest Water type Pokémon Trainer that anyone had ever seen. He would use his Pokémon to bring water to Kanto when it was a barren land that had no plantation. Thanks to him, he taught the people of the Kanto region on how to use and preserve water to keep the newly formed region alive. But as the region thrived, and royalty took over the land... the royal families began to hoard the water for themselves; leaving many people and Pokémon to die from thirst. Caspian was angered by this and tried to challenge the families, but they set the region up in flames. He then summoned his Pokémon to his side and they fought the flames, but they were still too strong. When he was nearly defeated, he used his power to call upon a mystical creature that summoned a powerful rainstorm to extinguish the fire. After the fire was vanquished, Caspian dethroned the royal families from the region at the time, and became the region's protector and guided forth the birth and foundation of the region; making sure everyone had their fair share of the water and nature of the region together." Misty replied.
"Whoa..." the group replied in awe. "Taylor? If that Mark of yours is real... can you try to commune with Caspian's spirit?" Misty replied. "Yeah... but... I need to find out where he is buried. If I can find his resting place, my Mark will glow and try to communicate with him." I replied. "Really?" she replied curiously. "Yeah. We first experienced this at Mt. Moon a couple nights ago. We were traveling through the caves, and then Taylor sensed a previous Guardian's soul near the giant Moon Stone." Zach replied. "And you all have met the spirit of the Guardian that lies there?" Misty replied. We nodded our heads yes to her question. "Her name was Luna. She used her power to create Mt. Moon in order to protect the Cleffa, Clefairy, Clefable, and the giant Moon Stone that crashed into the area from the public." I said. "Luna..? interesting. That name has come up in Caspian's story too." Misty replied.
"Really? Were they allies? Or enemies?" I replied. "They were allies. Luna was a couple years younger than him. Some people who contributed to writing the story even said they were romantic partners as well." Violet replied. "What!?" the group replied in shock. "Yep. But there is no recorded documents that said they got married or had children of their own." Lily replied. "But if they did, they probably kept it secret from the public." Daisy replied. "That's understandable. They wanted to keep their love lives private. It's not everybody's business to get involved in people's romantic lives." Violet replied. I looked at the painting again, and noticed that the Guardian Mark was on Caspian's left hand. When I noticed this, I had flashbacks of the cloaked Trainer I met, and saw the same Mark on his left hand. "No way... could that Guardian I fought alongside with be a descendant of Caspian..?" I said in my thoughts. I quickly took out my phone, took a picture of the painting, and then put my phone away.
"Misty? Where is Caspian's resting place? If you want to see if her powers are real... then we have to go there." said Zach. "It's in Cerulean Cave." Misty sighed. "Cerulean Cave?" Celina replied. "Yes. He is buried deep inside Cerulean Cave." Misty replied. "Great! Let's go check it out!" Sora replied. "You can't! It's too dangerous!" Misty replied. "Huh?" Sora replied. "How come?" Zuzu replied curiously. "There's a very strong and dangerous Pokémon living inside that cave. We've seen many Trainers go in there to try to catch it, but they all have failed to do that." Daisy replied. "That dangerous Pokémon has defeated many Trainers teams with a single attack." Violet replied. Misty and Lily nodded their heads to their sister's responses; shocking us. "I'm sorry, guys. But we can't go into that cave. It's way too dangerous, and I don't want to risk your lives in there." said Misty.
"But what if just Taylor goes in there alone? If she can sense its power inside the cave, she can use hers to find a way to stay out of its way?" Sora replied. "What!?" we replied in shock. "Sora, are you insane!? What if that thing finds her!?" Zuzu replied. "Hey, hey, hey. I'm only saying IF. That's IF this dangerous Pokémon finds her. Besides... didn't we all see how she used her powers to defend the city and stop the Gyarados yesterday? That should prove to you that she has the Guardian powers." Sora replied. Everyone thought about it for a moment, and then turned to me. "Oh, dear God... now you want me to go inside that cave, don't you?" I said. "Tay... this could be our only chance to see if Caspian's resting place is truly there. All you have to do is not get into a battle with anyone, and you'll get in and out of there in a snap." Celina replied. I blinked my eyes, looked at everyone, and then sighed. "...Fine. I'll go inside the cave. Just make sure that no one is watching us. Someone might think I'm going to try and catch the Pokémon inside." I said.
Everyone nodded their heads in understanding, and then we left the Aquarium together. We then walked over to Cerulean Cave together and stood by the entrance. Before I went inside, Zuzu and Celina gave me a couple hugs and wished me good luck. I let them go, and then walked inside the cave alone.
Cerulean Cave
"Geez... it sure is bright in here with all these glowing rocks." I said. "Pika-pi." Tetrax replied. We stopped by the edge and saw a lot of water around us. I took out Tsunami's Dive Ball, threw it up in the air, watched it open, and see Tsunami appear in the water. He let out both happy and curious sounds as he looked around the area; wondering what this place is. "Tsunami. We're here in the cave to find something important for us to find. Will you help us swim through the water to find it?" I asked him. He made a calm noise and nodded his head yes to my question. He lowered his head, let me jump on, and then we began our search for Caspian's resting place.
We surfed on the water and climbed the ladders of the cave for about ten minutes, and then made it to the deep part of the cave; seeing many glowing light blue rocks lighting up the room. As we surfed through the water, my Mark began to glow. Tetrax, Tsunami, and I looked at my Mark as it glew, and then its energy made a light trail to a dead end in the room. We followed it silently, got onto the land spot of the lake, and then walked over to the end of the trail. I walked to the front of the top middle spiked rock pillar, and saw a tombstone there surrounded by the light blue glowing rocks. "This is the place." I said. "What place?" replied a voice. I jumped in shock to the sound, turned around, and saw a Pokémon with purple eyes looking down at me. "...Mewtwo... is that really you?" I said in a soft, surprised tone. Mewtwo blinked its eyes, lightly smiled, and nodded its head yes to my question. I smiled happily at it and gave it a hug; happy to see it for the first time since the Team Rocket incident.
"I've missed you." I said to it. "And I've missed you too, Taylor." Mewtwo replied as it hugged me back. We let each other go, and noticed the looks on Tetrax and Tsunami's faces; wondering who I was hugging. "Are these two your Pokémon?" it asked me. "Yep. They sure are. Tetrax, Tsunami. This is Mewtwo, the Pokémon that saved me from Team Rocket five years ago." I replied. "Pi-ka? Pi-ka-chu." Tetrax replied; greeting Mewtwo. Tsunami greeted Mewtwo as well; making Mewtwo lightly smile. "It's nice to meet you, Tetrax and Tsunami. I'm sure that your Trainer is taking very good care of you and your friends." it said. They nodded their heads yes to its response, and then we turned to tombstone. "So what brings you here to Cerulean Cave, Taylor?" Mewtwo asked me.
"Me? I'm here for the tombstone." I replied. "The tombstone? Why? Is someone you know buried here?" it replied curiously. "Not personally. But... this person has a connection to this." I replied as I took off my glove and showed it the Mark. "I see... so a past Guardian is buried here." it replied. "Mhm. I just found out about this Guardian here today. He had a connection with the origins of the region, made the people understand the nature of water, make bonds with the Pokémon that lived alongside them, and brought the downfall of ancient royal families that hoarded water and plantation from the people and Pokémon." I replied. "Interesting..? So these Guardians are humans that are more connected with Pokémon and nature of this planet?" it replied curiously.
"Yep. That's what I've been told to from stories that my family from Celestic Town told me, and from a Pokémon that had worked alongside the original Guardians." I replied. "What..? You have a ancient Pokémon in your possession?" it replied in slight shock. I nodded my head yes to its question. "Do you want to see it?" I asked it. "Of course. I would like to see this ancient Pokémon that you possess." it replied. "Alright. Necrozma, come on out!" I replied as I took out the Guardian Ball, threw it up in the air, and watched it open; seeing Necrozma appear. "Hm? Where... am I?" said Necrozma. "You're inside my home: Cerulean Cave." Mewtwo replied. Necrozma turned around and saw Mewtwo for the first time. As they stared at each other, their psychic powers began to spiritually connect.
"Wait a second... this power... I've felt it before... so it was you... it was you and your Aura that has connected with me and my Trainer..." said Necrozma. "Your... Trainer? How did you get in her possession? Did she have to fight you before she caught you?" Mewtwo replied. "I was being stolen by thieves in Pewter City. She tried to stop them, but she was outmatched. So I broke free from my imprisonment, saved her, and battled alongside her against the thieves." Necrozma replied. "And then you let her catch you as your way of saying thank you?" Mewtwo replied. "Correct. That was also when I told her a bit of the Guardian bloodline." Necrozma replied. "And you're part of this Guardian group because they saw you as something special?" Mewtwo replied. "Correct. They have saved my life with their abilities, and have fought alongside Arceus, who gave the Guardians their abilities and let them use the moves of all known Pokémon it has created." Necrozma replied.
Mewtwo's eyes widened in shock to the revelation, and then turned to me; wondering what I have to say. "It's true. That is what we Guardians truly are." said a voice. We were shocked by the voice, turned to the tombstone, and saw a light blue spirit appear above the grave. "What is this..?" said Mewtwo. The spirit transformed into a human male with blue hair and ocean blue eyes; staring us down. "It's him... Caspian." I said. "So... you're one of the Guardians that protected this city from the Gyarados yesterday?" Caspian replied. "...Yeah... I am." I replied. Caspian lightly smiled at my response. "My, my... it's nice to finally meet you. It's been a long time since a Guardian descendant has found this place. I'd never thought that the day would come when I finally meet you." he replied. "Same here as well. You see, I was asked to come find your resting place because of the show that tells your story here in the city." I replied.
"My story? Do you mean the story of how I took down a corrupt royal family from stealing all the water and plantation from the people and Pokémon in the ancient past?" he replied. "Yes." I replied. "Heh. I've seen the people here perform that show of my story many times." he replied. "You have? I guess by your tone that you're not really a fan?" I replied. "No... I am. But they lack the ability to properly show how my powers work. To me... they haven't really told my story properly." he replied. "Don't you mean... our powers?" I replied as I showed him my glowing Mark. He looked at it surprised for a moment, and then smiled. "Caspian... she is Luna's descendant." said Necrozma. "Luna's descendant..." he replied. "We met her at Mt. Moon. Her resting place is near the giant Moon Stone." I replied. "Really... so that's where her soul is..." he replied. He then felt tears swell up in his eyes and fall on his face. He wiped them away and looked back at us.
"She was very important to you? Wasn't she?" I asked him. "She was. She was my childhood friend. After what the legends say of my story, I noticed that she had completely disappeared. Like any childhood friend would do, I went searching for her. That's when I found Mt. Moon for the first time, and saw her there with the mysterious Pokémon that she found. I tried to convince her to come home, but once I saw that Mark on the same hand as yours, and how she commanded the Pokémon she used against me... that was when I realized that she was a Guardian too. We talked things out, and then promised to help each other protect our region and sacred lands together. During our time on this planet... we even fell in love with each other." he replied. "You did?" I replied. He nodded his head yes to my question. "Did you two ever settle down, get married, and had a family of your own?" I asked. "We did. We settled down and got married... but we were never able to have children of our own." he replied.
"How come? If you don't mind us asking?" Mewtwo replied. "Because I passed away from a powerful illness that the descendants today would call it: cancer." he replied. My eyes widened in shock to this revelation, and I clutched my hand into a fist. "Caspian..." I said. "It's alright, child. You don't have to apologize. Cancer was really unstoppable during my lifetime, but in your lifetime... the world of medicine has expanded tremendously to find ways to cure it. The people of your lifetime now sure feel very privileged to have specialized doctors to help cure it. But... I can tell by the look in your eyes, that you have lost someone to this disease." he replied. "Yeah... my grandparents of my Dad's side of the family. I was 7 years old when this happened. I tried to cure them with my powers, but they told me not too. It broke my heart when they told me that." I replied. "Because they wanted to teach you the Circle of Life. For us Guardians, it is very hard to accept when someone's time in this world is up. We try to do everything we can to make them stay just a bit longer, but once they see the light of Arceus in their eyes and its hand reaching out to them... they know that it is time to go. So when we let them go... while it does hurt for a certain amount of time, we need to keep telling ourselves to stand back up, keep going in our lives, and do our best for them; knowing that they are watching over us." he replied.
"Yeah... but we still carry on the pain and broken heart through it all." I replied. "We do. As along as we take the proper time to grieve and heal from any kind of personal loss and trauma, we come back stronger than ever before." he replied. I sighed, nodded my head in agreement, looked away, and then heard my phone beep. I took it out from my pocket, and saw a text from Zuzu; asking me if I am on my way out of the cave yet. "I guess that someone is calling for you?" Caspian asked. "Yeah. A few friends of mine wanted to see if I was okay." I replied. He blinked his eyes, nodded his head, and warmly smiled. "Well then. I guess that I shall let you be on your way." he said. "Caspian, wait." I replied. "Hm?" he replied curiously. "I... I need some advice. How can I control the dark side of my powers?" I replied. "Your... dark side? What do you mean by a dark side?" he replied curiously. "She was kidnapped a power driven person five years ago, experimented on, and they caused her to snap and go berserk with her power." Mewtwo replied. "And ever since that day... she has been traumatized by that side of her. Is there anything she can do to control it?" Necrozma replied.
"I see... you went into your Awakened state." he replied. "Awakened stage?" I replied. "Yes. The Awakened state of the Guardians is our form of bloodlust and rage. Whenever we get into a battle with someone, and we see someone or something we care about deeply get hurt or die in our light of sight, we go into our Awakened form, and become monsters. Monsters that no man nor Pokémon could ever defeat. But if you want to control this state... you need to do a lot of meditation and not let your emotions be clouded by anger and hatred. If you let the power of your Awakened stage take over you... you will become a violent monster. That would be the best advice I can give you, Taylor. Do not let your emotions of your trauma control you." he replied. I blinked my eyes, took his advice to heart, and then nodded my head in understanding. He nodded his head too, and then his body began to glow.
"Taylor. Before you head to the next city, there is a Guardian location somewhere in a mysterious forest that is only inhabited by the Bulbasaur family. If you ever lose control of your Awakened stage, you should head there to find the Guardian who will teach you how to control it." he said. "Got it. And does this Guardian have a name?" I replied. "Her name is Lily. She is the Guardian of Purity of the Heart." he replied. "Understood. If she ever loses control, I will take her there and ask her for her assistance." Necrozma replied. "Thank you, Necrozma. And Taylor? May the Guardians protect you." he replied. "May the Guardians protect you." I replied. After that, Caspian transformed back into his spirit form and then disappeared.
"So... that was one of the Guardians you two have been talking about. That... that was..." said Mewtwo. "Unbelievable?" Necrozma replied. "Yes... it was. But now knowing of this new knowledge of them... I want to travel the region and see if there are more Guardian spots out there, and help you two find them quicker before anyone else can get to them." Mewtwo replied. "That sounds like a good idea. But... what about your home here? Do you really want to leave many Trainers disappointed if they come here and not find you." Necrozma replied. "No. I'm not worried about them. Besides... there is only one person that I want to battle alongside with." Mewtwo replied as it turned to me. "Me?" I replied curiously. Mewtwo nodded its head yes to my question; shocking me.
"Really!? Whoa... this is crazy!" I said. "It is. But you need all of the Kanto League's Badges in order to face me." Mewtwo replied. "I do? I guess that you want to see how strong I will become when I have all eight Badges?" I replied. "Correct." it replied. "Taylor? Don't you have one of the eight Badges in your possession right now?" Necrozma replied. "Oh yeah! I do. See? I got the Boulder Badge." I replied as I showed it to Mewtwo. "I see. Congratulations." Mewtwo replied. "Thank you. And Mewtwo... when I get all eight Badges, and master my powers... you better be ready. We'll have a battle that you have never seen before." I replied. "Is that a challenge? I will be looking forward to it." it replied. We shared one final hug, and then I jumped onto the top of Tsunami's head; ready to leave the cave. "Taylor! Before you go, take this." said Mewtwo as it used Psychic to give me something. "Photos and newspaper clips? Why are you giving me these?" I replied. "It's something that you have to know now than later." it replied.
I looked at the photos and newspaper clips and saw what was on them; shocking me to the core. "No..." I said. "What is it?" Necrozma replied curiously. I then opened my bag, and took out the red R badge that I took from Julia, stared at it, and then back at what Mewtwo gave me. "...They're back..." I said in fear. "Who? Who's back?" Necrozma replied. "Team Rocket. They're back. And... if any of its members saw what she and the other Trainer with the Mark on his left hand did yesterday... they would tell their leader, Giovanni, all about it." Mewtwo replied. "Are you saying that the two of them have targets on their heads by Giovanni and his group?" Necrozma replied. "Yes. Not only are they looking for them... they're looking for me as well." Mewtwo replied. "Because they made you? Taylor told me about your origins when you rescued her on that day." Necrozma replied. Mewtwo nodded its head yes to its question; shocking us.
"Taylor. You must keep a low profile. If you see any of them out there: Fight. If you run, they will know that you are still afraid of them. You need to fight back against them, and make them pay for what they've done to you. Even if it means you go into your Awakened stage as well. If you can use that side to your advantage with full control... you will make them fear you." it said. I put all the info I needed of Team Rocket in my bag, turned to Mewtwo, and nodded my head in understanding. "Necrozma? I trust you to keep her safe." it said. "I will try my best." Necrozma replied. After that, we said our goodbyes for now, and left the cave. As we got close to the entrance, I returned Necrozma to its Guardian Ball; hiding it from the group.
"Hey! She made it!" said Sora. "Hey, guys." I replied. "So..? Did you find his resting place?" Misty replied. "Mhm. I even got to talk to him too. He told me his side of the story that the show is doing, and gave me some advice on how to control my powers." I replied. "That's amazing! Alright! Let's get back top the Aquarium and get you kids suited up!" she replied. "Huh!? Wait... what's going on? Why do we need to get suited up?" I replied. "Tay! We're going to be performing in the show!" Zuzu replied happily. "What!? We are!?" I replied in shock. "Mhm!" she replied happily. I was completely stunned of what is now going on, and the shock of it all had made my body not want to move. "Come on, Tay! We gotta get moving! Let's go!" said Celina. I blinked my eyes twice, and then gave myself a slap on the face; shocking everyone.
"Geez... that had to hurt..." said Pat. "Tay..? You okay?" Zach asked me. "I... I think so..?" I replied. "Dude. Don't tell me you got stage fright?" Pat replied. "What!? No! I'm just trying to process on what's going on here. That's all." I replied. "It will all be explained when we get there. Come on! We gotta book it! Let's go!" Pat replied. After that, we booked it to the Aquarium and went the backstage room of the main water stage.
Cerulean City Aquarium- Water Stage Room
"Man... it is packed tonight..." said Zach as we looked at the crowd. "Yeah. And all we're doing is mostly swimming with our Pokémon, and take out that Pokémon's fire." Celina replied as we turned to the performer she was talking about; seeing their Pokémon for the first time. "Mag-mar." it said. "Wait... isn't that a Magmar?" Sora replied. "Yeah... it is." Pat replied as he took out his phone and activated his PokéDex. "Magmar, the Spitfire Pokémon. A Fire type, and the evolved form of Magby. Its body is like a furnace, making Magmar a living inferno. It has been discovered only near active volcanoes." said Pat's PokéDex. "Whoa... that's-" said Pat and Sora. "Don't you dare!" Celina replied; nearly scaring them. Zach, Zuzu, and I nearly busted out laughing, but then we saw Misty and her sisters walk over to us. "You guys ready?" said Misty. "Yep! We sure are!" Zuzu replied happily; making Misty smile. "How about you, Tay? Your anxiety medicine now fully working this time?" Celina asked me. "Yep. It's working." I replied. "Good to hear. Alright. Keep your ear pieces in. Once when you hear the producers and directors tell you where to go, you do as they say. Got it?" Misty replied. "Got it." we replied. After that, it was time to start the show.
The lights had dimmed, and the ceiling opened up over the audience; showing them the calm, clear evening sky. The lights of the stage then shined brightly and music began to play; making the audience cheer and clap. The sound of the audience stopped as they saw a man and a woman walk onto the platforms of the stage. "Many centuries ago, the Kanto was bare and filled with wildlife. The land and sea was filled with many creatures we know as Pokémon. But when it came to the freshwater ponds, rivers, and lakes of the region... the Pokémon would fight off others for access of the freshwater; while leaving others to perish. The Pokémon controlled the land as their own, until one day, the first ever settlers arrived to the region by ship." said the man. During his part of telling the story, my group and some of the performers swam alongside and rode on water Pokémon as he explained the sea and freshwater.
"Wow! Mommy! Look! Dewgong!" said one kid. "I see them, sweetheart." the mother of the kid replied happily. The performers did a couple tricks with their partners, and then cleared the path away for another group swimming with a giant prop ship and changed the background of the stage behind them."They then began to build their homes and castles all throughout the region; stripping away all the territory for all the Pokémon that once took over the land. But once their homes were built... they realized that had no fresh water to keep themselves and their plantations alive. So they would go out deep into the forests and unknown lands to find water, but were caught in the gaze of the wild Pokémon that steered them away from their homes." said the female narrator. As she told her part, Tsunami's friends rose up from the water, and let out their cries at the performers.
The audience was awed by the sight of the Gyarados performing and saw them prepare to jump into the water. "Until one day, the king of the region walked to waters of the land before it being called Cerulean City, and found a warrior who controlled the Pokémon with unbelievable might!" said the male narrator. A second later, I rose up from the water with Tsunami, let him roar to the sky, jumped into the water, and watched him and the other Gyarados dive down with me; picking me back up and doing tricks to impress the crowd. I jumped back on Tsunami's head, and then secretly used my powers to make parts of the water rise and spin like a wheel.
"The king was in awe of this warrior's skills of the water and controlling the Pokémon. Knowing that if he made a deal with the warrior, the region will thrive with newfound life. When he introduced himself to the warrior, he revealed that he had heard of their journey. When the king asked for his name, he told him that his name was Caspian: Guardian of the Rain. After many encounters, they struck a deal. He controlled the Pokémon, while he helped the king and his people gain water for their land. Soon, the entire region began to thrive with life. The grass, plants, and trees stayed green. The waters were crystal clear, and everything in life was in perfect balance... until one dark and frightening day..." said the female narrator as we did more tricks and special effects with the Gyarados, Magikarp, Feebas, Seel, Dewgong, Horsea, Seadra, Kingdra, Buizel, Floatzel, Empoleon, Walrein, Finizen, and Palafin.
"The king sat on his throne and watched his plantation begin to dry out; angered at the world of not blessing his kingdom with rain. As he thought about his plans for rain, his consorts reminded him that the people that have now come to this kingdom was only for the Guardian of the Rain. This, angered the king. He then called for his knights to take all the water of the kingdom, and kill the Pokémon that lived in all its waters. The knights followed his request on taking all the water, but failed to kill the Pokémon that live in them. The sounds of war concerned Caspian; wondering if someone invaded his home. When he returned to the kingdom, he saw the kings soldiers destroy the villages and homes of the kingdom with fire; burning everything around for the knights to steal the water for their king." said the male narrator as the background changed and the Magmar set the water ablaze around its Trainer dressed up as the king.
My group swam with the other performers to escape the fire, and tried to take out the smaller fires on the surface of the water. The audience was awed by the fire on the surface of the water; wondering how the water is withstanding the heat of Magmar's fire. "When he saw those fires burn his own land down, he realized that he was being used by the king and lied to ever since the deal hew made with him and his kingdom. So in retaliation, he summoned his strongest Water type Pokémon to his aid, and fought back against the king and his army." said the female narrator as the background scene had changed to a burning land, and I used Tsunami, Empoleon, Walrein, Floatzel, Kingdra, Dewgong, and Palafin for special tricks and let them hit special targets that burst water onto the pool; extinguishing some of the flames.
"After pushing through the army, Caspian broke into the king's castle, found him and his Magmar, yelled at him for his betrayal, battled him and then crushed his hopes and dreams by defeating him with their most powerful Water type attacks!" said the female narrator. I made the six Pokémon use their strongest Water type attacks on Magmar's platform after it used Flamethrower around us; extinguishing their flames on their platform as they fell down to their knees in defeat. "As the king fell in defeat, Caspian won the battle and reclaimed the region as his own. As punishment, he forced the king and all members of his royal family and consort to be banished from the land, and to never return. They did as he requested, and left with his team back to the open flames that burned the region." said the male narrator.
"As they tried to extinguish the flames, Caspian noticed that his Pokémon had become exhausted from the battles they had endured. As the flames grew stronger, he used a mystical power from his own body to summon a powerful rainstorm; extinguishing the flames once and for all." said the female narrator. I raised my left hand up in the air to the sky, and fully summoned a rainstorm; taking out all of the flames. The crowd was very awed and amazed at what they are seeing and hearing in the rainstorm. The rain then stopped as all the flames on the pool finally went out. I then swam back to the stage with Tsunami and watched the stage background change again into a fully revived land of nature.
"Months after what Caspian did to save the people and the Pokémon that were horribly treated by the king, he became known by the people of ancient Kanto as the Guardian of Rain. They then accepted him to be the leader for the people to form bonds with the nature and Pokémon around them; promising them that there will be a peaceful world where we all would live in peace, and to protect the lands we all call home. And to teach our future generations the stories and lessons on how to keep this world safe and clean for a better tomorrow." said the female narrator. We all did our final tricks after she told her part as the music played and fireworks went off. After it all ended, the crowd gave all of us a standing ovation; filled with loud claps and cheers. We all took our bows together, and then went backstage to celebrate.
"Dude! That was awesome! We did so good!" said Pat. "Yeah! That was one of the coolest things that ever done in my life!" Sora replied. "I know right? Just to work alongside the Pokémon there was amazing! It made me feel a little more connected with them!" Zuzu replied. "Yeah!" the group replied. "Hey, kids. Great job out there." said Misty as she walked upto us. "Thank you." we replied happily. "You guys definitely wowed the crowd with your skills. You should've seen the looks in every kid in the audience. They were very impressed and awed by you." she replied. "Really? That is such and honor to hear that from you, Misty." Zuzu replied. "You're welcome, Zuzu. You kids deserve all the praise coming your way." Misty replied. We smiled happily at each other, then went to our dressing rooms, got changed back to our normal clothes, grabbed our stuff, said our goodbyes to Misty for the day, and then went back to the hotel.
Cerulean City Hotel
We entered our hotel room, took quick showers, and then got changed into comfortable PJ's; ready to rest up for the night. We sat down in the living room together, ate some snacks, and watched a random TV show together that showed a montage of funny clips of people and Pokémon doing funny things. We laughed a few clips together as the show went on, but then the show was suddenly put on a halt; turning on the news. We groaned in agony for a moment, and then saw something interesting that they were showing. "Hey..? What's with the giant red R painted on the wall?" said Zuzu. "I don't know..? It might be a street gang or something..?" Celina replied. The group then began to discuss what they think the red R was, but once I saw it... I began to remember what Mewtwo had said and gave me.
I felt my heart beat faster than normal and my blood pressure rise higher than normal. Once I felt this... I knew that this wasn't good. Tetrax and Aurasoul noticed the shocked and scared look on my face, and immediately began to comfort me. A few seconds later, the group turned to me and saw the state I was in. "Tay..? Are you alright..? You're looking really pale in the face right now..." said Zach worriedly. "...Zach..? Can you grab my bag over there real quick?" I replied as I turned to him and the group. "Uh... yeah... sure." he replied. He stood up, went to my bag near the patio door, picked it up, walked over to me, sat down, and gave it to me.
I opened up my bag, and took out the related items that connect to the red R shown on the news. "What is all this?" Zach asked me. "Look at the R on the TV and then all over these pictures and newspaper clips. Do you guys see a connection between them?" I replied. The group took the pictures and newspaper clips, studied them, looked at the red R on the TV, back to the items I gave them, and then turned to me; staring at me. "No..." said Celina in a soft, shocked tone. "Tay..? Where did you find these?" Zuzu replied. "That badge was from Julia when I battled her on Mt. Moon. And the pictures and newspaper clips were found in Cerulean Cave." I replied. "Guys. Look at the dates on the newspaper clips. They were taken during the past few months." Sora replied. "Wait... he's right... they are very recent." Zuzu replied.
"Yeah... so... does this mean that Team Rocket is really back?" Pat replied. The group turned back to me, and saw me nod my head yes in confirmation. They stared at me shock after I did that, and then looked at each other in fear. "Oh shit... oh... shit..." said Pat. "Wait... that would explain what happened with the Gyarados incident yesterday. It could've been possible that a small group of Team Rocket was in the city yesterday, and made the former Magikarp there evolve into Gyarados by that sound device that Tay and that cloaked Trainer talked about yesterday." Zach replied. "You're right! But... how did the security team not notice them?" Zuzu replied. "They probably disguised themselves and snook into the Aquarium, and used the device to evolve and tried to control them?" Celina replied.
"True... but... what does this mean about her?" Sora replied as they turned to me. "Tay..?" Zuzu replied worriedly. "This means that I have a target on my head. Same with the cloaked Trainer too. If any Team Rocket members saw us use our powers to stop the Gyarados... they'll report it to their leader and begin the hunt for us." I replied. "What!?" they replied in shocked and worried tones. "Yeah. It's true." I replied. "So... what are you going to do now? Do you gotta keep a low profile or anything?" Celina replied. "Mhm. Keep a low profile, and not use my powers in public." I replied. The group nodded their heads in understanding, and then gave me the items back. "Hey. If we ever see any of them try to jump and kidnap you... we'll jump in and stop them. And if they ever try to catch you if you run or fight, just teleport away from them and stay somewhere safe until we find you. Okay?" said Zach. "Okay." I replied.
After that, I put the items back in my bag, and then we went back to watching TV. As we watched the show, Yuto and his brothers looked out to our room from the trees; watching what we are doing. "Yuto..? Did you hear anything from them? What did they say?" said Yuri as he saw his brother's glowing golden yellow eyes and Mark glow. He stopped using his powers, blinked his eyes in fear, and then turned to his brothers; letting them see the fear in his eyes. "...She knows... she knows about Team Rocket..." he told them. "What!?" Yugo, Yuri, and Yuya replied in soft, worried tones. "Yeah. And they've been back for at least a few months now." he replied. "That means now you both have targets on your heads." Yuri replied. Yuto nodded his head yes to his response, and then clutched his hands into fists. "Yuto. You gotta keep a low profile for now. Your powers can't be seen by the public. If what Shay and Kite said yesterday was true about possible Team Rocket members seeing you and Tay use your powers together... then they're going to go after you and her." said Yugo.
"I know that." Yuto replied. "Yugo's right. You and Tay have to keep your powers hidden away for now. If anyone sees you two using them, then the targets on your heads will become bigger than before." Yuya replied. Yuto blinked his eyes, and nodded his head in understanding, and then the four brothers turned back to the hotel in silence; wondering what we'll be doing tomorrow.
Thank you so much for reading Chapter 9 of the story! Well... this one was a crazy one to write. Especially writing up Caspian's backstory and origins, and then the water show telling of his story. But... it all worked out in the end. As the story goes on when we meet past Guardians, you will see a little trend going on. Guardians with the Marks on their left hand are from Adam's bloodline, and the Guardians that have the Mark on their right hand will be from Eve's bloodline. Their powers will be in secret locations or places where Legendary Pokémon would be located in the games. As they meet them, they will offer advice to the descendants of both bloodlines on how to control their powers or ask them to save their respective location.
Oh! I nearly forgot! What did you guys think of the appearance of Mako Tsunami? When I was thinking of would be a good Legacy Yu-Gi-Oh! character to bring in this one to challenge Misty to a Gym Battle, I chose Mako because I wanted to see how he would fit in this universe as a Water type Trainer. Plus, he is one of the Yu-Gi-Oh! side characters that everyone likes. At least that's what I've seen and hear from the Yu-Gi-Oh! community.
Anyways, thank you so much for reading, and have an awesome day!
Next time, Chapter 10: Eyes of a Beast. While spending time in the city, Sylvio encounters the group again while Taylor is away from the group training for her battle with Misty. During their battle with him, Sylvio's group ambush Taylor, trigger her trauma response, and then say something about her friends that makes her snap and make her go into her Awakened state.
