2 Months Later…

Crackle. Crackle.

The lights in the room began to slowly flicker until one of the light bulbs exploded.

POP.

Santana slowly opens her eyes. Her vision becomes very blurry for a solid minute. She slowly lifts her hands to rub her eyes in hopes of regaining full clarity.

"Luc?" Santana quietly says as her voice is dry and raspy. "Hey baby. You in the bathroom?" Silence. "Guess what? I got this sexy ass scar now."

Santana begins to laugh but gets overtaken by a long series of wheezing coughs.

Santana turns her head to the left and notices a vase full of dead roses.

Damn. Nobody, not even Quinn tried to water it. Santana disappointedly thought. She looks around and notices the empty room. She was alone.

Then Santana focuses on the silent clock.

What kind of hospital is this? Why isn't it ticking? That's when it hit Santana. How long was I out?

Santana looks around her bed for the call button to summon a nurse. She finds it and pushes the button, but nothing happens. So she takes off all the wires that were hooked up to the machine keeping her alive, along with the nasal cannula that provided oxygen to her.

"Here I go," Santana says as she uses all her strength to sit up. Then she decides to try and stand using the IV pole for much-needed support. The pole loses balance and the Latina falls down, ultimately regretting her decision.

"DAMN IT! NURSE! HELP!"

Santana sees that there's no hope and gets on her hands and pushes herself up, while she screams in agony. She grabs a hold of the table where the dead flowers were and notices a "get well" card.

"Dear mama. We miss you so much. Come home soon. I love you." - Lucas

Santana tearfully smiles at her son's letter and drawing of the three of them and then notices there's more writing.

"Dear gorgeous, I've been missing you like crazy. I miss your smile. I miss your kisses. And especially, I miss your laugh. You'd always make me feel so special and lucky. I hope you get well soon Tana. I love you forever." - Luce

Santana kisses the card and hides it in her gown. "I'll see you in a little bit, babe."

Santana somehow makes her way to the bathroom and turns the faucet. Santana began to drink the water while splashing some on her face.

Holy crap this tastes amaaazinggg.

After a few minutes of having fun in the water, Santana prepares to make her way to the hallway and leave her room. She opens the door and notices some lights flickering while others just stopped working. Santana leans on the wall for support, however, as she turns the corner she stops. Her eyes go wide at the sight of dried-up blood and bullet holes plastered on the walls. She looks down and sees bodies. Dead patients. Dead nurses. Dead doctors.

OH MY GODD! WHAT THE HELL HAPPENED?!

Santana begins to panic as she starts looking for an exit. She turns another corner and comes face to face with the doors of the cafeteria with something written on them.

DON'T OPEN, DEAD INSIDE.

"What do you mean dead inside?" Santana said.

As her eyes continue to linger, pale fingers appear to stick out the gap between the doors. They seem to be trying to grab something. Or someone. Loud groans and moans echo through the hospital walls frightening Santana.

"How the hell do I get out of here?" Santana whimpers. She continued to march forward searching for an exit and finally found it.

Santana pushes the door open and is struck with daylight. As her eyes are blinded by the sun's rays, Santana attempts to get a hold of herself and understand what is happening.

"I'm so fucked!"

It's a bright and hot day in New York. It would normally be a perfect day for Santana, as she would usually take Lucas out and explore the city because Quinn would be stuck with piles and piles of paperwork.

Flashback

"Mama! Look!" Lucas runs up to Santana holding his drawing of a police officer. "It's you!"

Santana looks at Lucas proudly and says, "That's a wonderful drawing mijo! You are very talented. I think this deserves to be placed on the fridge." Lucas smiles. "Hey bud, I have a surprise for you too. But first, you need to get dressed."

After Santana had helped her boy put on shorts and a t-shirt, they both went outside to her car and put on their seatbelts and Santana drove off.

A few minutes later…

The two arrived at an amusement park. Lucas began looking around at all the different rides that they had. Santana got out of her seat and helped Lucas take off his seatbelt and out the car. Lucas started running around in circles as he was so excited.

"Come on mijo! Last one is a rotten egg." Santana winks as she begins to run to one of the rides.

End of flashback

Santana started walking down the street near the hospital in search of her family. She figured that home would be the best place to start. As she walks, she sees broken glass and deserted cars everywhere. She tried to find a car with the keys nearby because there was no way she could continue to walk all the way to her house in her current condition. After searching for what seemed like 30 minutes, Santana finally found one.

15 minutes later…

Santana finally arrived at her house. She parks the car on the side of the road and turns off the ignition. She exits the car and looks at her house.

Holy shit, what the hell happened here? Please be okay. Santana's heart started to break at the sight of her home. The house looked like it was about to fall apart. All the windows were broken, while the wood panels were scratched and pulled to pieces.

Santana's heart started racing as she noticed that the front door was open.

"QUINN!?" Santana screams as she runs in her home.

Santana searches for her wife and son in the living room and finds it completely trashed. Curtains were torn apart and couches were flipped over. Books, lamps, and tables were all thrown and on the floor.

"QUINN?! LUCAS?!" Santana shouts again as she enters the kitchen and sees bloody dishes broken and scattered on the floors.

"QUINN! LUCAS!" Santana cries as she runs to her room and Lucas' room to check if they were there. Nothing. Santana kneels down and begins to sob uncontrollably. "QU-INN! LU-CASS! Santana whimpers and starts to hyperventilate.

This can't be happening.

Santana starts to calm down and stares at her palm. "Is this real?.. Am I her-e?" she says as she touches the floor panels, but then aggressively starts slapping herself in the head in order to wake up from this hellish nightmare. "WAKE UP! COME ON SAN! WAKE UP!" Santana shouts as she begins to understand that this is reality. This is what her life has turned into. Her family was gone. Her loved ones, gone.

Santana leaves her broken house and sits on the sidewalk, looking at her surroundings. She notices a man in the distance walking toward her. She raises her hand and waves at him to come to her. The man obliges.

As Santana becomes distracted by the man in the distance, she fails to hear footsteps approach her from behind.

SNAP.

A branch breaks behind her and Santana turns around and-

CLANG.

She was smacked in the face with a shovel by a young boy.

"Daddy, Daddy!" the young boy shouts.

"Lucas? Is that you?" Santana says as she becomes dizzy.

"Daddy, I got her! I'm gonna smack her dead!" the boy yells

Santana looks in the direction the boy is shouting at and sees another man approaching the man Santana was waving at and shoots him.

BANG!

What the hell! Why did he shoot him?! Santana thought

The boy's father starts running to his boy. "Whoa. Is she one of them?" he says

"Looks like it, daddy."

"Hey miss?" the man says to a barely conscious Santana.

"Did she say something? I thought I heard her talk?" the man says to his boy

"She called me Lucas."

"Son, you know they can't talk."

"Miss? What's the bandage for" the man says, now talking to Santana.

"Wh-whatt?"

"Answer me! What's your wound? Tell me or I. WILL. KILL. YOU!" the man threatens while turning off the safety and pressing a small handgun to Santana's head.

Please just do it. Let me be with them. Let me be with my family.

Santana tries to answer his question, but her eyelids become way too heavy and passes out.
