Rin Nohara had not a single qualm against staring at the Third Hokage, Hiruzen Sarutobi, and his teammates, members of Konoha's council and all but calling them stupid to their faces.

She stilled the shaking in her hands so quickly that not even Danzo Shimura noticed. "With all due respect, I should have died. The fact that I did not, does not suddenly make me Jounin material."

Maintaining respect, she argued against her impromptu promotion for three hours. Eventually though, she was successful, and even the Third had to concede that no one could belittle Rin Nohara more than Rin Nohara herself could. She was left to rest and recover before her next mission.

She looked at Gai sitting in the waiting room. Gai smiled and stood. His smile dropped when he noticed she was shaking.

She shook her head. "Can we just go see Obito in the hospital, please? Kakashi is with him, right?"

"Yes." Gai replied. He was still learning to balance his excitement with his embarrassment of being a naturally loud and eccentric person as his father was. He still felt awkward, but Granny Masumi said he was coming a long way.

As they walked to the Hospital, Gai held a steady hand against her upper back. Enough that he would be seen as a comforting presence, yet not enough of a presence to possibly be misconstrued as anything more than that. Still, people whispered in the streets of Rin Nohara's bravery, and in some cases, insanity. Because who would still want to remain on a team with Sakumo Hatake's brat after going through all that Team Seven has endured.

Rin stilled the anger in her heart, and the shaking in her hands, and pushed down the feeling that Konohagakure, the greatest and kindness village in all the lands that she loved dearly with all her heart, just might be trying to kill her. Minato looked devastated that she objected to the promotion. She couldn't figure out why. In no way was she prepared to be a Jounin. Would Kushina agree with her? She hoped she would if they all changed their minds. For a foreigner, Kushina held a lot of sway in their eyes for some reason. She shook her head, and tried to stop thinking so much about it all.

Obito promptly squashed her attempts when he shouted in protest from his hospital bed. "What do you mean they tried to promote you to Jounin!? I'm not that smart, but even I know Anbu's after Jounin! Are they trying to kill you!?"

Gai looked at Obito as if the teenager had smacked him or insulted him dearly, in a way that Gai just couldn't, wouldn't be able to let go. In response, Kakashi smacked Obito in the head, prompting an argument between the two of them. Obito gave as good as he received, as while Team Seven was on their mission, Obito's arm was freed from its healing cast, and he now had clearance to use it.

Still Gai kept staring lost in thought, and Rin focused all she had to give on squashing down her discomfort.
