Chapter 12

Meeting Lord Garmadon

A teenage girl was working in her dad's small noodle shop. It was a nice little business. She learned a lot from her dad about how to make noodles. A lot of the regulars to the restaurant always praised her cooking skills, but she always told them that she learned from her dad.

"Skylor! I have great news!" her dad said.

"What is it, dad?" the girl asked.

"We're opening an even bigger restaurant in Ninjago City!"

"That's amazing!" The girl knew that her father always wanted to have a bigger restaurant.

"That's not all! With your grades, you've been accepted into Ninjago High School!"

"What? But what about my school here and all my friends?"

"You'll make new friends there!"

Skylor didn't want to change schools, but she also didn't want to deny her dad his dream of opening a bigger restaurant. "Ok dad. Let's do it"

Skylor arrived at a mansion with the rest of the ninja team, minus Jay and Nya. That was where Jay and Nya were when they were attacked, but they were all confused as to why those two were at a mansion like this in the first place. Once they got past the gate, they saw the front yard which definitely had a recent fight. The actual mansion still looked intact.

"Where are they?" Skylor asked when the saw no sign of the elemental masters of lightning and water.

"I don't know," Lloyd said. "There was definitely a fight here, but what were they doing here in the first place?"

"We need to find my sister!" Kai yelled.

"And Jay," Cole added.

"PIXAL, can you track them at all?" Lloyd asked the Samurai X.

PIXAL attempted to use their trackers. "I am afraid not," she said. "Their trackers have been turned off."

"Great," Kai said. "So, we have no idea where they are."

"Calm down, Kai," Skylor said. "That's not helping. We'll find them...somehow."

"Let's get back to the monastery," Lloyd said. "Maybe Master Wu knows where they might have been taken."

The team nodded and started to head back to the monastery.

Underworld

Nya woke up in a cage. Her head was pounding and the room was spinning. It took her a minute to be able to get her eyes to focus. Once that happened, she started to take in her surroundings. She couldn't remember how they got there at first. She thought about it harder and remembered being with Jay, how upset he was that he had just found out he was adopted, going to the mansion, figuring out who his father was, and...getting attacked by Skulkin. She has to admit that they hit harder than she thought they would. She sat up slowly and looked around the cage and that's when she saw the other person that was with her. "Jay!" she said as gently shook her boyfriend who was still unconscious.

After a couple of minutes, he started to stir. "Ugh," he groaned and put a hand on his head as he slowly opened his eyes and saw Nya looking at him. "What happened?"

"We got captured by Skulkin," she said.

"Right," Jay said as he started remembering the events that led them here.

Nya helped him sit up. "Are you ok?"

"I think so. What about you?"

"I'll be fine." Nya looked around the cage again. "We have to get out of here." She stood up and walked up to the bars of the cage and tried to use her water powers, but they didn't work. She looked at her hands and then over to Jay. "My powers aren't working."

Jay stood up and walked over to where Nya was and tried to use his lightning powers. "Mine aren't working either.

"What's going on? We have pretty good control over our powers now."

"I don't know."

"It's called vengestone," a voice said. The voice revealed himself to be someone they had never seen before. He was a dark creature with glowing red eyes and four arms. He was also wearing a helmet with horns on it. "It renders your powers useless."

"Who are you?" Nya asked.

"You don't know who I am?" the stranger asked. "Considering that my brother has been preparing you to fight me."

Jay and Nya both took a step back and their eyes widened. "You're Lord Garmadon," Nya said.

"Yes. I am, Water Ninja."

"What do you want from us?" Jay asked.

"I need your powers, Lightning Ninja," Lord Garmadon told Jay. "Your girlfriend here just interfered with the Skulkin's mission."

"Leave him alone!" Nya yelled.

Lord Garmadon turned his attention back to Nya. "What are you going to do, Water Ninja? As long as I make sure vengestone is being used on you, you have no powers."

"We don't need powers to fight you."

Lord Garmadon laughed. "I could beat the both of you without even breaking a sweat." He turned away from the two ninja. "Samukai!"

Samukai came running in after Lord Garmadon called him. "Yes, Master," he said.

"Put them in vengestone cuffs and bring them to the machine."

"Of course, Master." Samukai left and returned with more Skulkin and the vengestone cuffs. They entered the cage and put the vengestone cuffs on the two ninja and then walked them over to the machine that they were talking about.

"What does this machine do?" Nya asked when they got there.

"This machine will make it possible for me to finally escape this place," Lord Garmadon said as he appeared in the room. "But I need a power source. That's where you come in, Lightning Ninja."

"I will never let you use my powers!" Jay said.

"You won't have a choice. This machine will force your powers out of you."

Jay looked scared at that point and Nya noticed, but she was also scared. Being told they were going to be ninja was one thing. Being in this situation was different. During training, they never thought about something like this happening.

"Put him in!" Lord Garmadon instructed the Skulkin that were next to Jay. The Skulkin that were next to Jay grabbed him and dragged him over to the machine. Nya was about to run after him, but a couple of Skulkin grabbed her and held her back. "What do you think you're doing?" Lord Garmadon asked Nya. "I want you to watch your boyfriend suffer."

The Skulkin threw Jay into the chamber of the machine and took off the vengestone cuffs before closing the door of the chamber. Nya continued to struggle in the grasp on the Skulkin that were holding her. "No! Jay!"

Lord Garmadon turned on the machine and it immediately started draining power from Jay. He screamed as the machine started sucking the power out of him.
