Chapter 13

The Escape

A 14 year old boy was working on repairing some things around the junkyard he lived in. He was trying to surprise his parents by fixing stuff for them. He was currently rewiring he lights for their sign. He was trying to improve it so the lights wouldn't go out as much. He was currently dealing with open wires while doing it. Suddenly, he felt a jolt of electricity through him. He only felt it for a few seconds, but he felt fine. Logically, he knew the dangers of dealing with open wires and he also knew that the amount of electricity he just felt should've electrocuted him. He looked at the wires in confusion. How is it that he felt completely fine?

"Sweety, what are you doing up there?" his mother asked. Looks like this wasn't really going to be a surprise.

"Just fixing the sign, ma," he said. "I'm almost done."

"Ok. Well, dinner is ready when you're done."

The boy quickly finished fixing the lights and then climbed down and started walking towards the trailer that he lives in with his parents. After he opened the door, he took a quick glance towards the sign he just fixed. He was still confused how he didn't get electrocuted, but he just decided to let it go. It probably didn't mean anything anyway.

If Jay was being honest, he had never felt as much pain before as he was currently feeling. He never would've imagined how painful it would be to have his powers sucked out of him. When he was younger, he loved reading the Starfarer comics and watching the movies. He always wanted to be a superhero and have powers, but with the situation he was currently in, he was kind of over it. He was starting to struggle staying conscious. The pain was becoming too much to bear.

All Nya could do was watch helplessly as they were draining Jay of his powers. She knew she had to something, but the vengestone cuffs weren't allowing her to use her powers. She saw Lord Garmadon exit a few minutes ago and he told Samukai to call him back when the portal was ready. Nya decided now would be the time to make her move. She stepped on the foot of one of the Skulkin holding her and swung the cuffs on her around to hit the other one in the head. Now free of the Skulkin holding her, she ran over to the control panel for the machine.

"STOP HER!" Samukai yelled.

More Skulkin started running at Nya. She kicked down a couple of the Skulkin and then used the cuffs to knock down more. Samukai was the last one to attack Nya after the other Skulkin failed. Nya noticed that he was also the one that had the keys for unlocking the vengestone cuffs. She ducked under his arm when he swung at her and she grabbed the keys as she ran around him. It was an awkward angle, but she managed to unlock the cuffs as Samukai was getting ready to charge at her. "I don't think so," Nya said as she blasted water at him. He flew back from the force of the water. She went back over to the control panel and turned off the machine. After that, she ran over to the chamber that Jay was in. "They don't make this easy, do they?" she said to herself when she noticed no easy way to open it. She saw that Jay was unconscious inside which made her worry even more. She didn't know how much getting his powers sucked out of him would effect him. She grabbed a sword that one of the Skulkin was using and used it to pry open the door to the chamber. She managed to get it open and pulled Jay out and laid him on the ground. "Come on, Jay. You have to wake up," she said as she lightly slapped his face to try to wake him up.

Jay's eyes slowly opened and he saw Nya hovering over him. "That was probably the most painful experience I've ever had," he said.

Nya smiled in relief. "Never scare me like that again," she told him. "Come on. We have to get out of here before Lord Garmadon comes back."

Jay started trying to stand, but quickly fell back down. He looked at Nya and knew that he would be weighing her down. "Go Nya," he said. "You need to get out of here."

"I'm not leaving without you," she said stubbornly. "We'll get out of here together." She helped Jay stand and put his arm around her shoulders. If Jay couldn't stand by himself, then she would help support him to get them both out of here. There was no way she was leaving him behind and they needed him in order to power the machine. Nya knew that the machine would've killed Jay if she hadn't shut it down in time. Nya started rushing out of there while helping Jay walk. Jay was trying to take as much weight off of Nya as he could. He was trying not to slow her down too much. "There has to be some way out of this place," Nya said after they had been running for a while.

"I don't know," Jay said tiredly. He felt so drained from the machine and all of his remaining energy is being used trying to escape. At this point, he just felt like going home and sleeping for a week. Maybe a month. "There's a reason that Lord Garmadon got trapped here."

"But the Skulkin have attacked us in Ninjago which means there has to be some sort of portal or something to get out of here," Nya reasoned. "We have to keep moving!"

They kept running through different tunnels to try to find a way out. Jay was barely staying conscious. He knew that he could rest once they were out of this mess. He would try to tell Nya to leave him behind again and save herself, but he knew that she wasn't going to do that under any circumstance.

They continued until they found a room with three chambers in the middle. The two ninja noticed that it looked like there were people frozen in those chambers. Nya looked closely at two of them. One had a fire symbol over it and another had a water symbol over it. She took a few steps closer with Jay and saw who was inside those chambers. "Mom? Dad?"
