A Blast From the Past
Last time we saw our heroes, they managed to defeat Officer Trudge and Officer Storm in a turbo duel. And when the tunnel started to get flooded by garbage, Cody saved the female officer from being swallowed by the trash. Unfortunately for Trudge, he couldn't be saved from that. And so, the two Satellites and female officer made it through to New Domino City. And not too long after arriving, they ran into the very person Yusei had business with...
"So Yusei, you made a good time, didn't ya? I hope Officer Trudge didn't inconvenient you too much." Jack Atlas taunted. "Please, don't take it personally. He's just doing what I'm paying him to do..."
"Must be great to have people do your dirty job for you!" Cody spat with some venom. And who could blame him? He, along with Yusei and the others, was betrayed by this traitor.
Jack couldn't help but smirk. "Well well well. If it isn't the amnesiac, Cody. I didn't expect you to come here as well. And..." His eyes fell on the female officer, who was sitting on Cody's duel runner and gave him a hard glare. "If my eyes aren't fooling me, that's Cindy Storm. As a Sector Security officer, no less. I never thought the pro circuit was tough enough for you to stoop down to that kind of career." That earned him angry growling from her. "Now then, has-beens aside, what brings the two of you here?
"I want my Stardust Dragon back!" Yusei demanded.
Cindy gave him a confused look. 'Stardust Dragon?'
Jack smirked. "And I guess you'll be wanting your runner back as well?"
"Runner?" Cindy repeated, even more confused than a moment ago.
"I don't need it!"
"So it's just the card? I would've thought you moved on by now, since it seems you've gotten over losing your runner already! By the way, how's the new one treating ya?"
"I got no complaints! And how's the one you stole from me? Still running well, I hope."
"You never could let go of anything, could you, Yusei?"
"I never was one to forgive and forget! Now where is my card?" Yusei demanded.
"What's the rush? Don't you wanna catch up on old times?" Jack asked mockingly.
"I want to know where my Stardust Dragon is!" Yusei demanded with more anger as he clenched his fist.
"Oh, you mean this old thing here?" Jack pulled out a card with a dramatic flourish and showed it to him. The card was white, meaning that it was a synchro monster card. It had an image of a white dragon with darker blue scales on its chest sides and face. It also had pure white wings, claws and a horned snout. "Does it still look the same?"
"How could you Jack!?" Yusei asked angrily.
"That card was wasting away with you in the Satellite! I couldn't bear to watch it sit in the hands of a loser!"
"But Jack!" Cody spoke up. "How could you take it when you knew it was the only hope our friends had of getting out of the Satellite? It was meant to help us all!"
"Well it certainly helped me when I got to New Domino City."
Once again, Cindy was shocked. 'When he got to New Domino City? Now what is Jack really talking about? How does he know these two guys?'
"And to show my thanks, you can have your precious dragon card back! Here, take it! I sure don't need it anymore!" Jack tossed the card down to Yusei.
He caught it with ease and looked at it. He was staring for a moment.
Which jack noticed. "What now, Yusei? Are you having second thoughts?"
In response, Yusei threw the card back to Jack, who caught it effortlessly. Cody was absolutely shocked. "Yusei, what are you doing!?"
He ignored him and focused on the blonde traitor. "No, Jack. I want the card, but I wanna make you pay for what you did more! And when I beat you, then I'll take my card back!"
Jack smirked. "You always were a dreamer! Well, get ready, because here comes your wake-up call!"
"Yusei are you sure about this?" Cody asked worriedly.
"It'll be fine, Cody. Trust me, I know what I'm doing." Yusei turned to him with serious look. "I'll handle Jack. You have your own reason to come here, remember?"
Cody stared at him for a moment before nodding. "Right."
Cindy looked between them curiously.
"Now get out here. I'll be fine."
"Alright. Good luck, Yusei." Cody was about to start his runner, before he turned to Cindy, who was still sitting behind him. "Sorry about all this, Officer Storm, but you can leave now."
But instead of getting off the runner, she wrapped her arms around him and gave him a stern look. "Sorry pal, but after listening to your little conversation here, I have some questions. And I won't leave you alone before I get all the answers!"
Cody wasn't sure if he should tell her, but it was clear that he won't get rid of her. So he sighed. "Okay, fine. I'll tell you on the way. Hang on tight!" At that, Cody and Cindy took off.
"And where is Cody going? I thought he'd be cheering you on." Jack commented.
"He's got his own plans here in the city. Not that it's your business." Yusei said. "This is between you and me!"
Jack smirked again. "Fine, then I'll just take care of him after crushing you!"
Moments later, Yusei was now following Jack on the highway. "When're you gonna tell where we're heading, Jack?" Yusei asked.
"Stop your worrying and enjoy the view already!" Jack retorted. "So what do you think of New Domino City? It's a little step-up from the Satellite, isn't it? But if you get homesick, I'm sure I can find a trash bin for you to play in!"
"Are we gonna duel, or are you gonna play tour guide all night?"
Jack chuckled at the question. "Well, since you worked so hard to get here, I figured I'd show you the sights before you get shipped back to the Satellite!"
"We'll see about that." Yusei said smoothly.
"Yes we will!" Jack agreed. "Looks like we're here!"
Yusei looked forward and saw a huge, dome-like shadow far ahead of them.
"Welcome to the Kaiba Dome!"
Unbeknownst to them, a security camera caught sight of them.
A while earlier, right after leaving Yusei alone with Jack, Cody and Cindy were heading to a different direction.
"So this is New Domino City, huh?" Cody muttered as he watched the tall buildings from distance. "What a beautiful city."
"Sorry to interrupt your sightseeing..." Cindy spoke up. "But you owe me some answers, remember?"
"Right." Cody sighed. "Where should I begin?"
"Well, how about Jack? You and Yusei seem to know him so well. Care to explain why?"
Cody took a deep breath before answering. "Okay, for starters, believe it or not, Jack was born in the Satellite."
Cindy's eyes widened. "What!? Born in the Satellite? I always thought he was born somewhere else. Like New Domino City."
"Well you thought wrong, because Jack was definitely from the Satellite. I've known him since I met him and Yusei."
"Okay, as small as that information is, it's a lot to swallow."
"Then let me tell you how things between me, Yusei and Jack went..."
Flashback
"As I just said, I've known them since I first met them. While we didn't have parents, we had each other." Near Martha's house, Cody, Yusei, Jack, Crow and Jeremy (As kids) were laughing together.
Time skip
"The Satellite was always a rough place, but as we stuck together, we managed make it through the tough times."
Cody and the gang (Older) facing against a bunch of thugs, with their duel disks ready.
Time skip
"And Jack was a really close friend." Cody and Jeremy were forced into a corner by some thugs who eerily approached them...
Only for one of them getting kicked from behind by Jack. He then followed up with a punch on another guy. And then, he grabbed a third one and threw him to a wall. He was about to approach that guy, but didn't notice another thug who snuck up from behind.
WHAM!
Jack turned around and saw that Cody knocked that guy out. He smiled and gave him a thumbs up, which Jack returned.
Time skip
Jack entered the hideout where Rally was the first one to greet him. He was then greeted by Blitz, Tank, Nervin, Jeremy and Cody.
And Yusei, who was working with a duel runner, greeted him as well, with a fist bump.
Flashback end
"We were more than just friends. We were like brothers." Cody finished.
"In that case, what changed?" Cindy asked.
"Well, Jack and Yusei had a falling out about two years ago. And he didn't talk to us since then. But then, after some months, he did the unthinkable...
Flashback
"Jack put our friend, Rally, in a boat in the sea. And the water wasn't exactly calm."
Rally was tied up and couldn't move. And the many waves of the water threatened to tip the boat over.
At the edge of the waterfront, Yusei and Jack were staring at each other, with the former giving the latter a glare.
"When Yusei arrived and confronted Jack, he was given a choice. To take Jack on in a duel, or save Rally."
"And I take it Yusei chose to save Rally?" Cindy asked.
"Well, Rally was about to fall down in the water, so he couldn't risk it by wasting time on Jack." Yusei took off his jacket and jumped into the waves. "Unfortunately, that was exactly what Jack was hoping for, because he wanted Yusei's best card." While Yusei was focused on saving Rally, Jack took out Yusei's deck and took Stardust Dragon.
"And that's not all he took." Jack took the duel runner and sped off. "He also stole Yusei's duel runner, and used it to escape from the Satellite."
Flashback end
"After that incident, Yusei and I have been working hard on making new duel runners so we could make him pay for his betrayal." Cody ended.
Cindy couldn't help but scowl. "Wow, I thought that he was a jerk, but I never imagined he would go that far to get to New Domino City. What a bastard."
"Tell me about it." Cody agreed.
"But wait. You said that you and Yusei came here to settle the score. So why are you driving in the opposite direction?"
"It's true. I did plan to come after Jack, just like Yusei. But... before we got ourselves ready, I stumbled upon something that changed my goal."
"And what's that?" Cindy asked curiously.
At that, Cody had a somber look on his face. "Well, you see..."
Meanwhile, in the engineering department in the heart of the city, a bunch of people were sitting together in a big conference room. All of them were wearing matching suits, except the one sitting in the middle: Rex Goodwin. They were currently listen to a scientist who had a large shock of brown hair that he wore in a style resembling the blade of an axe. the hair was completed with two long bangs. The scientist also wore amber-tinted glasses.
His name was Zigzix, and right now, he was so excited that he danced in front of all the other people. "WWWHHOOAA-WWWHHOOAA! So you see?"
"See what, Professor? An excuse to get dizzy?" One of the suited men asked sarcastically.
"No! An incredible breakthrough! Our spinning generator has gone into... into overdrive! See? Just like this: watch the arms, people! Whhoooaah!" Zigzix spun his arms and the danced around in twirls. "I know just what you're thinking: Is this a big new dance craze or what? Well, it's NOOOOOO-OOOOT! As you know, our generator powers cars, lights, and, WHHHOOAAA, turbo duels! It controls the whole city, everything we do!"
"Professor, we know all of that." Goodwin replied with a hint of annoyance in his voice. "We're just wondering why you called us to this meeting at half-past midnight. And it'd better be important."
"Well, yes. Yes it is, sir."
"Then you can stop your dancing and get to the point, or should I begin looking for a new director of Engineering?"
The Professor laughed and stepped aside as a red, holographic screen appeared, showing a simulator of said generator. "Just watch the big screen, Mr. Goodwin. It appears there's more energy being produced by this generator than we ever thought was possible! It's like a perpetual motion machine: the more energy it produces, the more powerful it becomes! And guess what; as long as it keeps spinning round, round, round, we sir, WILL BE THE MASTEEERS OF THE UNIVERRRSE!" He calmed himself and cleared his throat. "I mean that you are Master of the Universe, Mr. Goodwin, sir..."
"Pardon the intrusion." A female voice spoke up. Goodwin and the scientist turned to see a young woman enter the conference room. She had short, blue hair and gold eyes. She was wearing a white blouse under a gray-blue jacket that ended in the front abdomen above a brown belt, but fell past her white skirt in the back. Her outfit was also accompanied by brown heels and blue dangle earrings.
"Yes, Mina?" Goodwin replied as the woman named Mina approached him and leaned into his ear.
"Mr. Atlas is missing." She whispered.
"What?" Goodwin asked in slight shock. He then turned back to Zigzix. "Professor?"
"Yes?"
"There's another problem I must attend to, but this is all very intriguing. I want you to find out exactly what this power supply is capable of." As Goodwin spoke, he stood up and followed Mina out. "And Professor, next time, save it til the morning."
"Of course, sir." The scientist bowed to him.
As they walked through the hallway, Goodwin was not pleased with what Mina told him a moment ago. "So what you're saying is that Jack just vanished? I assigned you to be his personal handler! Now if anything unfortunate should happen to him, I'm holding you personally responsible!"
Meanwhile, a group of Security employees were walking around a giant room, glancing at nearby monitors. Standing near a big window, overseeing them in a smaller room, was a short man. And oddly enough, he was resembling a clown. He wore red lipstick, had two red lines running vertically over his eyes, and spiky purple hair. He was dressed in a red coat with a black collar and gold trim over a white shirt with gold lining, gloves, and black and gold boots. 'Someday this will all be...'
"Lazar." The man now named Lazar was brought out of his thoughts and turned around to see Goodwin enter.
"Ah, my dear Mr. Goodwin. I've been waiting for you." He bowed to him. But then scoffed when he saw Mina. "Hmph, I see you've brought the troublemaker. Well, lucky for her, we found Mr. Atlas." A big screen was turned on and showed the image of Jack and Yusei standing inside the Kaiba Dome. "But we're not sure who's with him."
"It's the Satellite duelist, Yusei Fudo." Goodwin answered.
"But sir, I thought it was highly illegal to duel against a Satellite duelist." Lazar pointed out.
"That's why what we see here, stays here. I want to see how Jack handles himself on his own. But, just in case, keep our guards on standby."
At the Kaiba Dome
Yusei and Jack found themselves in the middle of the track of the arena. Jack was staring Yusei, who looked around. Yusei noticed that there was a curved glass wall surrounding the place.
"This duel dome's impressive, isn't it? Television just doesn't do it justice. Now imagine it filled with thousands of adoring fans. All of the chanting your name, cheering you on. But that's something you'll never going to experience, Yusei! Cuz after this duel, the only people cheering you on will be your loser friends back in the Satellite. And that's if they don't all turn their backs on you once you return without their Stardust Dragon!" Jack held up the card in question as the arena's floodlights suddenly lit up. "I wish I could be there to see their faces when you try explaining to them how you had their card, but got greedy and turned it down in order to duel me! You're gonna regret ever coming here, Yusei! Cuz I'm gonna beat you with your own card!" Jack put the card into his deck.
"This should be interesting." Goodwin thought as he and the others observed this.
And so, Jack and Yusei sat on their duel runners and prepared themselves. "Turbo duel; activated." The computer voice said.
"Now then, try not to get scared, will ya?" Jack mocked to Yusei. "This course can be really tough on first timers." He then pressed a button his duel runner.
"Duel Mode; engaged. Autopilot standing by." And so, both of their runners activated the Speed World field spell, turning the entire place purple.
Yusei: 4000
Jack: 4000
"Let's Ride!" At that Yusei and Jack took off.
"Yusei, I always did enjoy dueling you. We've been battling with these monsters in our decks since we were kids. And this, old friend, is gonna be a trip down memory lane!" Jack said.
"Here's to history!" Yusei replied an began his turn. "I summon Quillbolt Hedgehog in defense mode!" A brown hedgehog with bolts sticking out on its back appeared. It turned blue for defense. (ATK: 800 DEF: 800 LV: 2)
"Well..." Jack smirked. "Now isn't that a blast from the past." He drew.
Yusei: 4000 SC: 0-1
Jack: 4000 SC: 0-1
"As is this: my Mad Archfiend!" The familiar humanoid fiend with a mouth for a stomach appeared. (ATK: 1800 DEF: 0 LV: 4) "Well Yusei, this is just like old times. Just 200 miles per hour faster!" Jack said as he turned his duel runner around so he was driving backwards. "Now Mad Archfiend, stick to that Quillbolt!" The fiend monster chewed up the skull in its stomach and spat the fragments out at the hedgehog, shattering it into pixels. "Things seem to have started the way our last duel ended, with you losing precious life points!"
Yusei: 4000-3000 SC: 1-0
"You'll regret doing that, Jack!" Yusei warned him.
Jack turned his duel runner again and drove normally. "Yusei, the only thing I'm gonna regret is that this duel isn't being broadcast to the millions of fans around the globe who cheer for me night after night! They've earned the right to witness my greatest challenge ever, and my greatest victory! You do realize that you're gonna end up losing this battle tonight, don't you?"
"You just keep talking, Jack!" Yusei retorted.
"There's no need to be concerned, Mr. Goodwin. This Satellite... he is nothing! I'll have him arrested and that will put an end to all his silliness once and for all. And then, we can ship this Yusei off to the facility where he won't cause any more troubles." Lazar proposed, smirking kinda evilly. "Just say the word, and my men will stop this."
But Goodwin didn't say anything. He was more interested to see this duel to the end.
Yusei: 3000 SC: 0-1
Jack: 4000 SC: 1-2
"I'm up to speed!" Yusei said and drew his next card. "And now I can summon Junk Synchron to the field in attack mode!" The familiar humanoid figure made of orange scrap metal appeared. (ATK: 1300 DEF: 500 LV: 3)
Jack smiled condescendingly. 'My blender's got more horsepower.'
"Remember when I said you'd regret taking out my Quillbolt?" Yusei asked. "Well here's why: Thanks to my Junk Synchron's special ability, I can bring it back to the field!" The hedgehog appeared again. (ATK: 800 DEF: 800 LV: 2)
Big deal! Yusei, you need to do better!" Jack downplayed Yusei's move.
"And will!" Yusei replied as Junk Synchron pulled its ripcord before its body glowed. "I tune my Junk Synrhon with my Quillbolt Hedgehog to synchro summon Junk Warrior!" Junk Synchron was replaced by three rings of green light, which the hedgehog went through before becoming two stars. And then, they created a ray of light. "Let's rev it up!" And so, the purple armored with its right oversized fist appeared. (ATK: 2300 DEF: 1300 LV: 5)
"If that's the best you've got, you're in trouble!"
"I think the only thing in trouble right now is your Mad Archfiend! Junk Warrior, send him to the scrap heap!" Junk Warrior's eyes glowed red before he swung right arm and destroyed Mad Archfiend with a powerful punch.
Jack: 4000-3500
But Jack wasn't even bothered by the attack. "It's my turn now!" He drew.
Yusei: 3000 SC: 1-2
Jack: 3500 SC: 2-3
He looked at the card he drew and smirked. "I summon Twin-Shield Defender in defense mode!" The monster that appeared looked like some kind of tribal warrior, carrying two shields. He put those shields together form a single one. (ATK: 700 DEF: 1600 LV: 4) "Plus I'll throw down a little facedown for later." Jack concluded an inserted a card into his duel disk.
Yusei looked at his display on the monitor. 'I don't like this at all. It's not like Jack to toy around. He usually cuts right to the chase. What are you planning?'
"You thinking about giving up already? You can if you like!" Jack suggested mockingly.
But Yusei drew his next card.
Yusei: 3000-2-3
Jack: 3500 SC: 3-4
"I summon Speed Warrior!" The familiar warrior in metal grey speed suit appeared. (ATK: 900 DEF: 400 LV: 2) "And now his 900 attack points are added to Junk Warrior's, but you know that already, don't you, Jack? It's the same combo I used back in the Satellite to get Security off your back. If it weren't for me and my Junk Warrior, you might still be rotting in the Facility." Due to Speed Warrior's presence, Junk Warrior glowed with a blue aura. (ATK: 2300-3200)
"What do you want, a 'thank you'?" Well you're not getting one."
"And now, due to Speed Warrior's special ability, his attack points are doubled! So say goodbye to your Twin-Shield Defender!" (ATK: 900-1800) Speed Warrior moved in, spinning upside down before landing a kick, destroying the tribal warrior. But after he left the field, a purple cloud of energy was left behind.
"And you can say goodbye to half of your Junk Warrior's attack points now! See, by destroying my Twin-Shield Defender, you activated its special ability! Bet you're glad Sector Security wasn't as prepared as I am when you stepped in to save me!" The purple energy enveloped Junk Warrior's body. (ATK: 3200-1600)
"Really? Because you left yourself wide open for an attack!" Yusei pointed out. 'As long as that card stays facedown.' He thought, slightly worried about Jack's facedown card. "I've been waiting for this since our last duel, Jack! Junk Warrior, attack him directly!" The purple warrior moved in and landed a powerful punch on Jack duel runner. The attack resulted with smoke surrounding the Master of Faster.
Jack: 3500-1900 SC: 4-3
But Jack was still not worried. "Remember how you said you saved me, Yusei?"
"Yes?" Yusei replied curiously.
"Well the whole thing was a setup to get me closer to your runner, and that dragon card of your was an added bonus!" Jack revealed.
"That is a lie!" Yusei said angrily.
"Wishful thinking, Yusei. See, I knew exactly what your duel runner was capable of, and when I saw an opportunity, I took it!"
'How could I be so blind?" Yusei thought.
"They say the truth will set you free, but in this case... it's gonna cost ya!" Jack said and revealed his facedown card. "And by activating my Spacegate trap card, you're never going to get your precious Stardust Dragon back!" The trap unleashed a bright light that forced Yusei to cover his eyes a bit. "Yusei, once this duel is over, I'm sending you back to the Satellite where garbage like you belong! And with my Spacegate trap card in play, I'm about to kick this duel into overdrive!" The trap card vanished and was replaced by two stars circled around. "You see, with this card, for every time you attacked, I got a Gate counter, and thanks to you, I'm already up to two! This reminds me of when you helped me in the Satellite! Sure, you thought you were doing the right thing, but in fact, all you did was set yourself up for disappointment just like now!
"I guess I don't have any other option but lay down a facedown." Yusei replied and inserted a card into his duel disk.
"And now your warrior's attack points return to normal." (ATK: 1600-3200) (ATK: 1800-900)
"See? It's only a matter of time before Jack wins, Mr. Goodwin." Lazar said, confident in Jack's skills.
"This contest is still far from over, sir." Mina disagreed.
"Do you actually think this Satellite has a chance of winning? Because so far this pathetic example of a duelist has done only what Jack has let him do." Lazar laughed with just as much malevolence as his smile.
'Don't underestimate this boy, Jack.' Goodwin thought.
Jack couldn't help but let out a laughter. "Come on! Get the lead out, Yusei! I got the need! The need for speed!" He stepped on the accelerator and the speed of the runner increased. "You're gonna have to keep the training wheels if you wanna keep up with me!" Now it went so fast that Jack was able to ride on the highest length of the curved glass wall while facing his runner to Yusei's. "At least this way I can see you!"
"Just make your move already!"
"Eager for me to end this, are you? Well don't think it's going to be as quick as I try, because I plan on taking my time picking you apart. And when I'm through with you, you're gonna wish you've never left the Satellite! It's my turn!" Jack spun back around and rode on the rack again as he drew his next card.
Yusei: 3000 SC: 3-4
Jack: 1900 SC: 3-4
"I play my Speed Fusion speed spell! Now, since I have at least 4 speed counters, I can activate its ability and fusion summon a monster that will have you quaking in your seat! Here comes a recipe for disaster!" Jack held up two monster cards. Each of them had an image of a golem-looking creature. One of them was made grey rock and had a big face in the front and limbs with three digits on each of its stony hands and feet. The other one looked more humanoid and was made of light-brown rock. "Take one part Big Piece Golem, add a touch of Medium Piece Golem, mix well, and you get... Multiple Piece Golem!" From a fusion vortex appeared a posable stone behemoth. (ATK: 2600 DEF: 1300 LV: 7)
'That's not good.' Yusei thought as he stared at the new monster.
"Golem, send his Speed Warrior in for a permanent pit stop!" The grey-suited warrior was helpless as the golem smashed him with its hand.
"In that case, I activate my Defense Draw trap card!" Yusei's facedown card revealed itself. "And with it in play, all the damage you cooked up with your little golem recipe goes to zero, and I get to draw a card!" He drew.
"Not bad." Jack complimented. "And here I was thinking you've thrown in the towel. I guess there's still fire in you after all. Too bad this next move's gonna extinguish any hope you had of winning this duel and getting your Stardust Dragon back!" As Jack spoke, Junk Warrior got weaker since Speed Warrior was gone. (ATK: 3200-2300) And once again, Jack faced his runner to Yusei's "Now then, Yusei, this is where things get interesting! By using my Golem's special ability, I can break him down to summon out the two fusion material monsters that are in my graveyard..."
Multiple Piece Golem disappeared and Big and Medium Piece Golem took its place. (ATK: 2100 DEF: 0 LV: 5) (ATK: 1600 DEF: 0 LV: 4) "It's kinda like recycling, which is something you know all about, living in that dump you call home. And now, I can activate Medium Piece Golem's special ability, which allows me to summon out Small Piece Golem to the field!" Big and Medium Piece Golem held each others' hands, making their arms act like a portal, from which a small creature made of dark-brown rock appeared. It had a pair of scrawny arms and feet with tips pointing upwards. In the area where the face would be, small golem had an opening which only revealed its blue eyes. (ATK: 1100 DEF: 0 LV: 3) The three golems gathered together and roared in unison.
"That's quite the rock collection." Yusei commented.
"Well, Yusei, you know that I always believed in the saying 'the more the merrier'." Jack replied and placed another card on his duel disk. "And if you think things are crowded now, wait till I summon out this guy: the tuner monster, Dark Resonator!" A small, dark-cloaked fiend holding a rod and a tuning fork appeared. (ATK: 1300 DEF: 300 LV: 3) "Now I tune Dark Resonator with Big Piece Golem to synchro summon my most powerful beast!" The small fiend turned into three stars and took flight, along with Big Piece Golem, before becoming 3 rings of green light and surrounded the golem. Its body became transparent and revealed 5 stars, which lined up and created a beam of bright light. "Yusei, this battle's about to move into the fast lane! Now, feel the power of my Red Dragon Archfiend!" As the light died down, Jack's headliner let out a powerful roar after being revealed. (ATK: 3000 DEF: 2000 LV: 8)
"That's your most prized possession!" Yusei pointed out.
"You got that right, and I only use it on special occasions, and I don't think they get any more special than this! I wanted my dragon to defeat you, but then I thought of a more fitting conclusion." At that, Jack slid his trap card into the graveyard slot. "So by sending my Spacegate trap card to my graveyard, I can bring a new monster to the field to make our little trip down memory lane that much more memorable! Say hi to my tuner monster, Sinister Sprocket!" The two stars from the trap card spun around and created a portal. And from it emerged some kind of black screw with malicious blue eyes. It also had a chain wrapped around its body. (ATK: 400 DEF: 0 LV: 1) "He looks small, but he's got friends. Big friends!" It coiled its chain around Medium and Small Piece Golem. "Now I tune my Sinister Sprocket with Small and Medium Piece Golem, to synchro summon your destruction!"
Yusei could only watch as the tuner monster turned into on single star and then a ring of light, before surrounding the golems. They were then turned into seven stars that lined up and created a beam of light. And a new monster was form within the beam of light. A monster with wings.
"He look familiar?" Jack asked. "He should, after all, this is your Stardust Dragon!" The light died down and revealed Yusei most valuable dragon, shimmering in the night. (ATK: 2500 DEF: 2000 LV: 8)
"It's been much too long." Yusei said as he glanced at the dragon.
"T-two dragons?" Mina said in shock.
"That is why Mr. Atlas is our champion, Ms. Mina. He would never lose to someone from the Satellite Sector like this Yusei Fudo. If you're not going to say anything useful, you could at least go and get us some nonfat extra hot lattes." Lazar suggested.
But Mina just glared in his direction and hmph'd before focusing on the match again.
"Temper, temper."
"Silence, you two. This is just getting interesting. Now let's see if Jack can finish this off." Goodwin reprimanded.
Jack chuckled at first, but then went over to a loud laughter. After all, not only did he have his Red Dragon Archfiend on the field, but he also had Yusei's precious Stardust Dragon facing its former master. How ironic was that? "You wanted Stardust Dragon so bad, well here it is! It's just like they always say: be careful what you wish for!" After that, Jack kept laughing at the situation Yusei was in.
"And that's the end of the story." Cody said as he and Cindy arrived at a port. On the way, Cody told Cindy about the reason he came to the city. The memory card he found, containing a message from his parents.
And Cindy was certainly in shock. She didn't expect that Cody would be someone with amnesia, who happened to wake up in the Satellite with no memories from his past. "Geez, and I thought this night couldn't get any crazier. So you came to New Domino City to find what your parents hid away?"
"Yeah, if I do, I might find out more about my past. That's why I came here."
Cindy frowned. "But if what you said about that video is true, then this could be dangerous!"
"I know. But I have to do this! My parents entrusted me with this! Whoever took them from me, they can't hide forever. If I can't stop them, then they'll never rest in peace."
"So you're just gonna try to find this clue all by yourself?"
"Not necessarily." Cody replied as he got off his duel runner and walked up to the edge near the water. "I've decided to do this along with Jeremy."
Cindy perked up by the mention of that name. "Ooh, you mean that cute friend of yours? Then how come he wasn't with you and Yusei?"
"The many times Yusei and I tested our runners, we had no passengers with us. If I let Jeremy ride with me, there might have been a risk that our combined weight would have made my runner slower. You were lucky that I managed to get you out of that pipeline safely earlier."
"Tell me about it." Cindy replied. "But how else will Jeremy get to escape from the Satellite?"
Cody smirked. "Well Jeremy, has a talent for mechanics. And with that talent of his, he built a submarine that will take him here."
"Oh, nice!" Cindy said smiling. But when her brain fully registered Cody's words, she widened her eyes. "A what now!?"
Back in the Satellite, around the time Yusei and Cody headed to the pipeline
"Haa!" Jeremy exhaled as he was dragging his submarine. Earlier, he rushed to the old garage building where the sub was placed on an old trailer he found one time. And right now, he was dragging it to get it to the ocean. "Ooh! This is heavy! At this rate, I might not be able to make until the morning."
"Yo, Jeremy!" Someone greeted.
Jeremy looked up and saw... "Crow!"
The orange-haired friend of his eyed on the submarine he built. "I take it this is your project, right? That's a nice submarine!"
"Thanks." Jeremy smiled at the compliment. But groaned as he kept dragging the trailer. "Although, it might take a while before I can get it to the ocean."
Crow smirked. "Guess I have to help you one last time..."
Later on, both of them were riding on Crow's duel runner, with the trailer tied to it with some rope. "Now you'll get it there in no time!" Crow commented.
"Thanks a lot, man!" Jeremy thanked.
"Meh, don't mention it."
SPLASH!
Finally, the two of them arrived at the ocean, where they dropped the submarine in the water. "Alright! Time for me to take off!" Jeremy declared as he picked up a bag he brought with and jumped onboard on the submarine. He opened the hatch and dropped the bag in.
"Well, guess this is goodbye then." Crow said. "Good luck, Jeremy."
"Thanks." Jeremy smiled. "I'm sure we'll meet again someday."
"You bet! Now go out there, buddy!"
Jeremey nodded before climbing into his submarine. "Now let's see..." He pressed some buttons on the control panels, and the interior lit up. "Now dive!" He said as he sat on the bike and started to pedal.
And Crow watched as the submarine took off. It submerged until the periscope was the only thing on the surface. "And away he goes." He then looked up and saw New Domino City from afar. "Yusei... Cody... you guys better be okay."
Back in the Kaiba Dome
"When I offered to give you back your precious Stardust Dragon, you should've just taken it and run back home to the Satellite. But no, you just had to prove that you could hold on your own with the Master of Faster!"
"I'm gonna do more than hold my own, Jack!" Yusei declared. "It's my turn!" He drew.
Yusei: 3000 SC: 4-5
Jack: 1900 SC: 4-5
"I summon Shield Warrior to the field in defense mode!" A warrior appeared, wearing a clothed helmet and armor. He turned blue and rested on his knee with his spear and shield up to protect himself. (ATK: 800 DEF: 1600 LV: 3) "And next, I'll also switch my Junk Warrior into defense mode." Like Shield Warrior, Junk Warrior turned blue. "With that done, I'm placing one card facedown." A card appeared briefly. "It's your move, old buddy."
"Leaving both monsters in defense mode?" Jack questioned with a smirk. "You gotta get aggressive if you wanna win. But then again, I shouldn't be surprised. You never were much of a fighter!" Since his runner was still facing Yusei's, Jack chose that moment to cross paths with him. This was the closest eye contact they had since the contest started.
"We must end this charade." Lazar said. "If the paparazzi find Jack dueling some Satellite, his reputation will be ruined."
But Goodwin still wanted to watch this duel till the end.
Jack then turned around so he was driving in the right direction and began his next turn.
Yusei: 3000 SC: 5-6
Jack: 1900 SC: 5-6
"Haven't you learned, Yusei? You can't just cower and hide and hope to survive! And here's proof; Red Dragon Archfiend can wipe out all your monsters in defense mode! So say goodbye to your little friend! Go, Absolute Powerforce!" The dragon's claws were enveloped in flames as they landed a direct hit on Junk Warrior. And right after he destroyed, Shield Warrior was swallowed by flames and then destroyed. "Seriously, Yusei, didn't you learn anything back in the schoolyard, when those mean, mean bullies would come around and threaten you and your little auto-shop pals for your lunch money? What did not fighting back ever get you: a black eye and an empty stomach, that's what! Didn't you sneak out of the Satellite to get even with me? I mean, if you came here to throw down or whatever, why are you acting like the scared kid from the playground?"
'It's called strategy.' Yusei thought.
"Well, now that you've got no monsters on your field, Stardust Dragon can swoop right in and attack you directly! Hope this doesn't hurt too much!"
"Sure you don't." Yusei muttered sarcastically.
Stardust Dragon spat out a torrent of sparkling white fire that completely enveloped Yusei's runner.
Yusei: 3000-0500 SC: 6-4
"So the monster that used to be yours, the one you came here to get back from me, is now the one taking you down. I'm sure if you ever thought this would've happened, you never would've crawled out of that dump you call home!" Jack mocked.
"Mr. Atlas is fabulous." Mina said, amazed. "He's controlling both of those dragons with incredible skill.
"Well, what else did you expect from the best?" Lazar asked.
'If what I hope happens, a whole lot more.' Goodwin thought.
"What are you waiting for, Yusei?" Jack asked smugly. "You do know it's your turn, right? How come you haven't made a move in two laps? Thinking of giving up?"
"Not a chance!" Yusei drew.
Yusei: 0500 SC: 4-5
Jack: 1900 SC: 6-7
"I summon Sonic Chick in defense mode!" A little pink bird appeared. It had a green collar with a bell and red boots. The bird turned blue immediately. (ATK: 300 DEF: 300 LV: 1)
"Just like back at school." Jack scoffed. "You waste all your time hanging out with chickens!"
"Well at least I know this 'chicken' isn't going to double cross his best friend, and then scurry away in the middle of the night! In fact, this 'chicken's' around for the long haul! Now I place a card facedown! You're up!" Yusei concluded and inserted a card into his duel disk.
Jack smirked and accelerated, approaching Yusei from behind. "Let me ask you something Yusei. How do you think this duel of ours is gonna end? Let's kid ourselves and say that you actually have a chance at out-dueling me, and let's say you somehow managed to win, then what are you gonna do? You haven't really thought this little revenge through, have you?" Jack drew a card.
Yusei: 0500 SC: 5-6
Jack: 1900 SC: 7-8
"Well, let me tell you what is gonna happen: you're gonna lose this duel, and then I'm gonna press a little button on my runner, at which point an entire security team will arrest you and ship you off to the Facility! After that, I'll come after Cody and do the same! So much for revenge. And speaking of you losing, Red Dragon Archfiend, attack Sonic Chick!" Jack's dragon slammed its burning right hand at Sonic Chick, only that the attack was blocked by a barrier. "Too bad, buddy, your little chickadee's special ability will get trumped by the power of my Red Dragon Archfiend! Remember, it can wipe the field clean of any monsters you have in defense mode. I told you, Yusei, you gotta get aggressive, like this!" The little bird was enveloped in flames... which were immediately repelled, much to Jack's disappointment."
"What just happened?" Lazar questioned. "That chicken was supposed to get fried!"
"Always thinking, aren't ya, Yusei?"
"It's what I do best. I'm just surprised you didn't remember this classic from back when we dueled for fun!" One of Yusei's facedown cards revealed itself.
Jack leaned back. "Oh yeah, your Remote Revenge trap card! I forgot you had that!"
"It seems there's a lot you forgot about, Jack, so here's a little refresher course on what this can do. First it deflects your attack, but that deflection is just the beginning. Once it does that, it destroys every monster on your field in attack mode, and aren't both your dragons in attack mode? So how's that for getting aggressive!" Flames encircled Sonic Chick before before shooting towards Jack.
"You have a thing for revenge, don't you? Too bad for you, just like your attempt to get revenge on me, this attack is gonna fail miserably!" Jack stated, leaning forward a little with a big smirk on his face. "Cuz Stardust Dragon's taking one for the team!" The named dragon got in front of Red Dragon Archfiend and took the fire attack. "That's one of Stardust Dragon's special abilities. When you activate a card with the power to destroy all my monsters, Stardust Dragon can save the others by sacrificing itself. How does it feel knowing you've destroyed your favorite beast?" When the flames died out, Stardust Dragon's body started disintegrating slowly into particles of light. "So much for Stardust Dragon. But I guess he had to go down like that in order for Red Dragon to stay on the field. Hey, does that remind you of another situation, Yusei? Think about it; This is like how I had to step on you in order to escape the Satellite!"
"Mr. Atlas appears to be toying with this urchin. I do love his playing style." Lazar said.
"Now I place two cards facedown." Two cards appeared briefly. "And with that done, I think I'll bring back my Stardust Dragon so you can get another peek at it for old time's sake. Now take a long, hard look, Yusei! Cuz after this duel, you're never gonna see it again!" Stardust came out of a clue portal and roared. (ATK: 2500 DEF: 2000 LV: 8) "Maybe you'll even get another chance to destroy the very beast you're trying to win back from me. Y'know, Yusei, with friends like you, who needs enemies? And with both dragons back on my field, it looks as though this battle of ours has come full circle, hasn't it?"
"Actually..." Yusei smiled. "Not quite, Jack. I activate my trap card! Harmonia Mirror!" His facedown card revealed itself and released a beautiful woman holding a big mirror, catching the reflection of Stardust Dragon. Jack gasped in shock. "Check this out: because you just summoned Stardust Dragon to your field, using a method other than the usual synchro summon, I can use the power of Harmonia Mirror to get Stardust fighting on my side instead! Welcome back, old friend." The mirror shined brightly as the dragon vanished.
"That's no biggie." Jack said plainly. "It's like I said earlier, I don't need it. I was merely using it to try and make this duel more interesting."
"Well you did, Jack, and now I'm gonna rev things up with my Stardust Dragon!" From a flash of light, Stardust reappeared above Yusei.
"Not bad, Yusei. Maybe you have learned a thing or two since our days together in the Satellite." Jack admitted. "So now we've got Red Dragon Archfiend versus Stardust Dragon in a fight to the finish!"
"Ugh!" Jeremy sighed heavily. He's been pedaling a lot since the beginning. And for him, it was getting hard after halfway. "Maybe I should have oiled this thing a bit." He muttered. He then peeked through his periscope and noticed that he was getting closer. "Well, at least it's just a bit further."
After their little talk, Cody and Cindy were waiting for Jeremy to arrive. And they haven't said a word since then. Eventually, Cindy broke the silence. "What's that over there?" She pointed to something.
Cody followed her finger and saw something coming out of the water. "It looks like a... periscope?" As the words came out of his mouth, Jeremy's submarine resurfaced.
"Jeremy's submarine, I presume?" Cindy asked with a smirk.
"Gotta be. Over here!" Cody called out, waving to the submarine. Moments later, the submarine reached the edge near them.
The hatch opened and Jeremy came out with his bag at hand. "Hi Cody!"
Cody smiled. "Glad you could make it." He then held out his right hand, which Jeremy grabbed on and let himself getting dragged up on shore.
"It was a little tough, but otherwise no problem!" He said, smiling back. But when he looked behind Cody. "Huh?" His eyes widened when he saw Cindy.
"Hi!" She greeted with wave.
"What the!? Why is she here!?" He exclaimed.
Cindy gave him a cute pout. "Now that was rude. I'm here because your friend brought me with him."
Jeremy turned to Cody again. "Seriously?"
"Well, to make a long story short, Cindy came after me when Yusei and I headed to the pipeline. That led to a turbo duel. I defeated her, then her duel runner started to go crazy. So I saved her and took her with me." Cody explained.
"I see." Jeremy replied slowly.
"And while we were on our way, Cody told me what you guys are up to." Cindy added.
"Is that so?" Jeremy asked, wary of her. "So what about it? Are you gonna stop us and lock us up?"
Cindy closed her eyes and smirked. "Actually... I've been thinking about it a while, and... decided to help you guys finding the clue that is hidden."
"What the what now?" Jeremy was certainly not expecting that kind of response.
And neither did Cody. "Are you... serious?"
"You bet." She turned to him. "You guys could use some help, if this mission of yours is as dangerous as you say it is."
"But, um..." Jeremy spoke up. "Wouldn't you risk losing your job doing this?"
"Maybe." Cindy simply shrugged. "But ever since I started dealing with you guys, this job started to get exciting." She then leaned toward Jeremy, who couldn't help but blush upon noticing her cleavage. "And I really love excitement.~"
Back in the Kaiba Dome
"Looks like we finally get a chance to see whose dragon is mightier, Yusei!" Jack said.
"And you'll finally get the chance to see the duelist that I've become! Remember that talk you gave after you beat me in our last duel?" Yusei asked.
Flashback
"Did he... just lose?" Rally asked.
"He did, and do you know why our friend just lost?" Jack asked, looking down on his fallen opponent. "Because his deck has no balance. And without balance, one cannot be a complete duelist. But you know that already, don't you, Yusei?"
Flashback end
"Well I didn't want to admit it, but you were right that day. Those words hurt, but they taught me a valuable lesson." Yusei reflected.
"Oh really, Yusei?" Jack scoffed. "And what did they teach you?"
"That in order to be the best I could be, I have to believe in the power of every card in my deck. And ever since that day, I've thought about that duel we had over and over again, trying to implement new strategies and combinations that I would've never thought possible."
"Well, Yusei, actions speak louder than words, so let's just see what the deck of yours is capable of!"
"You got it, Jack! And with Stardust Dragon on my field, the sky's the limit!" Yusei yelled as the two dragons roared at each other.
"This Satellite doesn't know when to quit, does he?" Lazar dismayed, then smiled. "Well, perhaps, I should send in a Security team to end this for him, Mr. Good-"
Before he could finish, Goodwin gestured his hand to prevent him from doing so.
"Hmm..."
Jack started to chuckle, but then laughed loudly. "Lemme get this straight, now that you got Stardust on your side, you actually think you have a chance at beating me? Well, you don't. I'm the best. You'll never defeat me, no matter how many Stardust Dragons you have on your field, got that? Now bring it on!"
The duel runners accelerated across the track as Yusei began his turn. "I got the green light!" He drew.
Yusei: 0500 SC: 6-7
Jack: 1900 SC: 8-9
"And I activate my speed spell: Silver Contrails!" The spell card appeared and created a whirlwind that briefly surrounded Stardust Dragon. And then, the dragon was enveloped in a silver aura. "Now, because Stardust Dragon is a wind attribute monster, he gets a power boost!" (ATK: 2500-3500) "It's time our beasts tussle! Stardust, ice his Red Dragon Archfiend! Go, Cosmic Flare!" Stardust unleashed a blast of silver fire towards the red dragon as it shielded itself with its crossed arms.
Suddenly, pain split through both duelists' arms. They grunted in surprise. "What's going on?" Yusei questioned. "Why's my arm hurting? What is this?"
"Agh!" Cody grunted in pain and held onto his right arm, surprising the other two.
"Cody, what is it?" Jeremy asked worriedly.
"My arm..."
"Your arm?" Cindy repeated.
"It's starting to hurt for some reason!" Cody said.
While this happened, something else happened to the chamber where the generator that Zigzix mentioned earlier was located. And the generator in question was overloading! The scientists in charge of the reactor watched on in wonder and fear.
"Amazing, incredible, fantastic!" Zigzix, sounding like he was almost getting crazy.
Back to the duel
Jack's dragon shrugged off Stardust's attack. "Sorry, Yusei, better luck next time!" Jack said as Sonic Chick shattered into pixels.
"What happened to Sonic Chick!?" Yusei wondered.
"My Synchro Deflector trap card happened." Jack explained. "With this trap card, I can reflect an attack against a synchro monster, and then use the energy to vaporize the monster on your field with fewest attack points! And now that you attacked, the effect of your Silver Contrails wears off. Which means, your precious Stardust Dragon loses its precious power boost." (ATK: 3500-2500)
"But it's still my turn, Jack, and I'm far from done. So next, from my hand I summon Ghost Gardna in defense mode!" A white specter-like warrior appeared with its arms in front of it. (ATK: 0 DEF: 1900 LV: 4)
"Trying to protect your little dragon, are ya?"
"I place two cards facedown!" Two cards appeared briefly. "Your move, Jack!" Yusei's right arm throbbed in pain again, but he ignored it.
"Incoming call, sir." Mina said, pointing to the blinking phone.
"Put it on speaker." Goodwin ordered, and Mina did as she was told.
A holo display of Zigzix appeared. "You might want to find a large solid object, and then duck behind it!"
"What are you talking about?" Goodwin asked.
"A major power surge; it's out of control! If this keeps up, things are going to get crazy!"
"Record all your findings." Goodwin didn't even bat an eye at the potential danger.
"As you wish, sir." Zigzix bowed and hung up.
"Time to end this, Yusei!" Jack declared and drew his next card.
Yusei: 0500 SC: 7-8
Jack: 1900 SC: 9-10
His arm burned and he clenched his teeth, but sneered when he looked at the card he drew. "I think Red Dragon Archfiend wants to attack your Stardust Dragon!" As if the dragon agreed, it growled defiantly. "Let's go! Red Dragon Archfiend, tear that Stardust Dragon apart! Go, Scorching Crimson Flare!" The red dragon charged at Stardust with a burning claw, but was intercepted by Ghost Gardna. "Hey, Ghost Gardna, down in front!"
"Ghost Gardna's special ability allows him to draw your monster's attention, and become the new target of your attack!" Yusei explained. "So Red Dragon Archfiend won't be attacking Stardust this time around! And after it gets destroyed-"
"Yeah, yeah, yeah, I know!" Jack interrupted. "I've watched you use Ghost Gardna plenty of times back in the Satellite. And this is the part when you tell me how when Ghost Gardna gets destroyed, it can lower the attack points of one of it's opponent's monster by 1000 until the end of the turn. Did you seriously think I didn't know that was coming?" (ATK: 3000-2000)
"Well did you know this was was coming?" One of Yusei's facedown cards revealed itself. "I activate a trap card! Counter Attack Beacon! And it activates when one of your monsters attacks one of mine and manages to destroy it in battle. Once this trap card activates, it not only gives one of my monsters 500 more attack points, it forces that same monster to attack even though it's not my turn!" Stardust Dragon was surrounded by a pure white aura. (ATK: 2500-3000)
"Very interesting." Jack smirked. "So now Stardust has more attack points than my dragon."
"That's right, Jack. Can you see where this is going? Stardust Dragon, atta-agggghhh!" Yusei and Jack's arms pulsed with agony...
"Aggggh!" And so did Cody's arm, making him grit his teeth, worrying Jeremy and Cindy.
"Attack!" Yusei commanded, as Stardust was preparing its attack.
"Not bad, Yusei, but not bad is not good enough! Not while I've got the Prideful Roar trap card!" Jack revealed his facedown card. "For the low cost of 1000 life points, I can give Red Dragon Archfiend 1300 more attack points!"
Jack: 1900-0900
A red aura surrounded the red dragon as it roared loudly. (ATK: 2000-3300)
"Oh dear me!" Lazar spoke up, surprised by this move. "This is a risky strategy, even for someone like Jack Atlas. He's either very confident or very foolish. Or maybe a little bit of both, but either way, this could end up embarrassing him."
"It's showtime!" Jack declared as both dragons spat out torrents of flames at each other. When the two attacks collided, neither dragon was giving up.
The pain returned to Yusei's arm. "Aaah!"
And the same thing happened to Jack. "Aaah!"
And Cody. "Aaaah!"
"What's wrong, Cody?" Jeremy asked.
Meanwhile, the generator produced a lot of bolts, and Zigzix watched with an anxious look.
The dragons kept up with their fire attacks, until the crossfire exploded into a bright light. That was when streams of bright crimson energy appeared. The two dragons, in the meantime, came out of the explosion unscathed.
"What's going on!?" Jack demanded. "That attack should've destroyed Stardust Dragon! Red Dragon Archfiend has more attack points! It's more powerful!" After he said that, a big image of a monster card appeared next to Yusei. "Shield Warrior!? You can't play that card! I sent that to the graveyard!"
"Which is just where its special ability can activate!" Yusei replied. "All I gotta do is remove it from play, and then I can sue its power to save a monster from being destroyed! But don't worry, Jack, your dragon's attack still hits me for 300 life points!"
Yusei: 0500-0200
"And I'm pretty sure Prideful Roar's effect wears off after an attack. So Red Dragon Archfiend is back to its original power level!" (3300-3000)
"I can still finish you off with a speed spe-Agh!" Jack cried out as the pain in his arm returned. "Not again!"
The same thing was happening with Yusei. "What is with this pain in my arm!? What keeps causing it!?" Suddenly Yusei saw his right arm emitting a red light in the shape of a face of some sort. "What the...? Why is my arm glowing?"
"Hey Yusei, you doing this?" Jack asked as the same kind of glowing came from his arm, except that his glowing mark looked like a pair of wings.
"Aaggh! This is getting annoying!" Cody muttered in pain. "What!?" And then, a glowing mark appeared on his arm. And this one was in the shape of a flame.
"What the hell!? What's with that glowing!?" Cindy questioned.
Back at the research lab, the generator produced even more bolts than it could handle. It looked ready to blow up. "Professor, the reactor has reached its max!" A random assistant shouted. "This place is gonna blow!"
The streams of crimson energy that appeared merged together and a glowing yellow dot appeared on the end of the stream, which suddenly took the form of a dragon head.
"What is that!?" Yusei shouted in shock.
"What kind of trick is this, Yusei!? What are you trying to pull!?" Jack accused stupidly.
The energy stream formed a pair of wings. And now it was fully formed. a crimson serpentine dragon with wings. It let out a screech and filled up the entire arena with red and white light.
As the two boys watched, both Jack's purple eyes and Yusei's blue eyes turned bright red.
Even Cody's emerald green eyes turned bright red. Not that Cindy or Jeremy noticed since they were too focused on his glowing mark.
As for Goodwin and the other two, Lazar and Mina looked shock due to the appearance of the new dragon.
Goodwin, however, couldn't help but smile. 'Incredible!'
As the dragon screeched again, a cyclone whipped up in the stadium.
And Zigzix just really wanted to tell Goodwin what was happening at his end. "I don't know what I'm looking at! The core reactor's going crazy! See, space and time are moving in directions I never thought possible! Atoms are smashing into each other! And the particles are colliding at an unstable pace!"
"Whose dragon is that!?" Jack asked before glaring daggers at Yusei. "I'll teach you to play tricks with me! I activate a speed spell! End of Storm!" He inserted a card into his duel disk.
"What are you thinking!? We gotta stop!"
"No way, Yusei!"
"Alright, fine, but I think we're gonna regret this! I activate my trap card-" But right when Yusei revealed his trap card, the cyclone knocked them both to the side. The serpentine dragon screeched as its body crackled with electricity
The generator did the same, emitting a lot more bolts, until everything overheated and the power went down and the city flickered off.
Even the room where Goodwin and the other two were in turned dark and the monitor turned off.
"Ah! Who turned out the lights?" Lazar asked.
'The mighty beast has emerged from its slumber.' Goodwin thought to himself.
"What? What just happened?" Jeremy asked as he and the others noticed the blackout.
And then, the room lit up again. "Looks like we switched to the backup generator." Lazar noted.
Mina typed on a transparent keyboard, but nothing happened. "We lost all visual, sir."
But Goodwin ignored her. 'I've seen all I need to see.'
Still in the arena, the dragon coiled its body. The dragon headed directly upward and spread its wings. Those wings had the length of the entire stadium. As quickly as the dragon arrived, it faded away into red dust.
Cody and the others noticed some red light from the distance. "What was that?"
"I don't know." Jeremy said slowly before he turned his attention to Cody's arm. The mark was still glowing. "I wonder if that has something to do with that thing?"
Cody looked at the mark as well. But then, one second later, it faded away. "It's gone!" He quickly took off his leather jacket. There was no sign of that mark he had.
Cindy was more focused on where the red light in the distance came from. "Come to think it, that light came from the direction where Jack and Yusei headed to."
Cody followed her gaze, worried. "I hope they're okay."
Back at the stadium, Yusei and Jack's duel runners emitted smoke. A tall crater divided the two from each other.
Jack stood up slowly, holding his right arm, which still had the red glowing mark, and observed the damage. "What... was that?"
"Aaggh! It burns!" Yusei cried out before taking off his right glove and rolling back his coat sleeve. The mark scorched bright red on his arm. "Where did this come from!?"
"So it's not just me!" Jack said.
Yusei looked up and saw that Jack's arm was glowing too. "Jack, what's going on?" He slowly stood up, despite his given bruises, and held his arm well. "Do you know what this is, Jack?" Jack didn't say anything. He just kept staring. "You do, don't you?"
Meanwhile, Goodwin was once again listening to Zigzix's report. "First the energy was all over the place. It broke all the counters, then the generator went ballistic on itself and now it seems the particle rotator stopped rotating which means... well it means it's broken."
"Just do whatever you have to do to get the power back to the city." Goodwin ordered.
"Okay." Zigzix replied and hung up.
"What about Mr. Atlas?" Mina asked.
Goodwin glanced at Lazar, who bowed and knew what he had to do.
"Jack, say something, man!" Yusei persisted as his mark faded away. "What's going on?"
And then suddenly, many flashes of light blinded Yusei. He put an arm up to shield his eyes.
"You are in violation of code 36B, which states that no residents of the Satellite may enter New Domino City! By order of the Social Maintenance Department, we are placing you under arrest! Do not try to run, we have you surrounded!" True to the officer's words, Yusei was surrounded by many Security officers.
'Oh man, I got no escape!' Yusei thought. 'But even if I did manage to get away, I still don't know what that thing on my arm was!'
That took me longer than I thought it would. But now it's finished. Until next time.
