IM BACK, YOU CRAZY KIDS!

Here and ready to deliver another piece of this nutty adventure.

You guys got no idea how hard it is to make time to make time to write this babay oversea's, but damn am I always happy when I finally finish up a chapter and can post it up for you guys.

Before we get things rolling, I should definitely talk about...

A few comments that caught my eye

Jerblankles- Just an fyi but talking about no-stop shitting on your character may turn people off the story, mainly because constant forced tragedy makes stories a drag to read.

My Response- I've gotten comments like these quite a few time on the Prophet needing to be saved from major threats so far, so I think its about time I spoke on it. Firstly, I WANT the Prophet to wreck dudes asses, no doubt. But whenever I write things out, I just can't see it happening. Yes, he has the potential to overcome just about everybody in Lordran, but he hasn't actually EARNED anything yet. He hasn't trained, he barely understands his own power and he was still walking around in starting equipment. When compared against something like a Darkwraith, a legendary threat that make even the gods shit their pants and is a moderately late game enemy, I didn't want to just give him the win simply because he is the main character.

Right now, I'd say that, only because of his Tainted Pyromancy, the Prophet is maybe just on par with Quelaag. And I mean to say that he is only just barely at her level power wise. So please just give me a bit to actually get the Prophet a little bit trained up before I start handing him the wins, bro. I promise I'll get on it.

coduss- poor havel...

eh, just use repair powder. it's magically bullshit enough to fix anything

My Response- Full honesty, I was literally thinking "Dang, what the heck am I gonna do about Siegmeyer." before I read this review. Talk about overthinking an easily fixable problem. XD

Only thing is I gotta figure out his to get him some repair powder in the first place and we're in business.

son of Ophion- you could do something with Kalameete. remember the nameless king (who is undeniable the guy the sunlight covenant worships) sacrificed everything to align himself with the ancient dragons. a black lightning throwing Solaire with obsidian armour seems pretty awesome. also will Domhnall ever get some spotlight he's my favourite character in Ds1 and he's got a lot to do with Seath. or well crystals maybe he could turn the primordial crystal into a weapon or something.

My Response- Oh ho ho, don't you worry about that. I know exactly what I'm going to do regarding the dragons. Just to give a hint, I always loved the way the Path of the dragon covenant lets you change into a small beast, but imagine how much power a human could achieve and what he could turn into if he or she restlessly sought out more and more Dragon Scales. I don't think I'm going to go full dragon transformation as that might be a bit OP, but the twinkling dragon stones from Dark Souls 3 definitely give me a few idea's for things I could do.

Boblets- Seriously dude just ignore my comments man i have a bad habit of getting drunk and trolling, I stand by a lot of the things I've said but saying them in such an aggressive and assholish way is in no way useful.

My Response- Not at all, bro. I take the good reviews alongside the bad one's. Not gonna improve in writing if I can't take criticism in how I do things. So I actually appreciate the review.

Alright my dear readers, that's all I got to say this time. Hope you all enjoy the read.

Warning: Please do not scream "Praise the Sun" while reading this chapter. Any caught doing so will earn a bounty of 50,001 souls and will receive a very disapproving look from Gwynevere. You have been warned.

How strange it was for but few bits of information to hold the power to shatter one's view of the world. To be able to make you feel so small, while telling you that the task before you was so big was something he'd never experienced before.

Siegmeyer had left on his own to seek out the strength he needed. Though he may have said much to dissuade him in this decision, Solaire did not resent him for choosing to walk that path. He only wished that he would have given the task some time so that they could be with him on his journey.

But the matter was settled and done. They were now separated with only Oscar and himself seeking out the two lost souls in peril.

Making their way back down the stairs and near the blazing fire of charred corpses, they both watched and waited as two undead dogs came running down the street toward them just as they had done the last time they came here.

Watching as they approached, both knights readied their weapons and made short work of the hounds as they came within their range. Cutting them into pieces as the beelined straight towards their swords without much trouble.

The confrontation was barely even worth mentioning.

"The Prophet spoke of Griggs being a building just before we battled the demon. So I'm thinking he's somewhere in this area." Oscar said, as his eye looked over the multiple homes that surrounded them. "I suppose that means we must search each one until we find him."

Hearing this, Solaire jaw clenched tightly and he stepped forward without saying a word.

"We have to be careful though. The hollows are no doubt waiting inside the houses up ahead again and who knows where else." Oscar said, recalling their previous encounter with the undead. "We could be surprised at any moment, so we should proceed with-"

"GRIGGS OF VINHEIM!" Solaire bellowed with all his might, causing Oscar to go wide eyed in surprise. "WE HAVE COME TO RESCUE YOU! GIVE US A SIGN OF WHERE YOU ARE!"

"What the hell are you doing?!" Oscar shouted immediately after.

CRASH. CRASH. CRASH.

Not two seconds after Solaire's outburst did the doors of buildings both near and far burst open with powerful kicks. Not only that but a large mob of hollows carrying torches and broken weapons rounded the corner behind them. The scene showed that every hollow within the immediate vicinity had heard the warriors mad shout and proceeded to converge upon them, with six approaching from the front and six coming from the rear.

There was exactly one silver lining in this situation.

"Hello?!" a voice muffled behind a doorway a short distance behind them said. "I'm here! I'm here!"

Hearing the mans screams and banging on the door, the two knights were quick to attempt to make a plan.

"Why did you that? They'll surround us in seconds." Oscar said aloud.

"Good. I need to work off some stress anyway." Solaire said in an uncharacteristically dark tone. "You go and free him of the building. I trust you both can handle a small crowd of lumbering hollows, while I deal with the ones who were hidden?"

"We can't just separate, it'll only weaken our ability too-"

Oscars words dropped off as Solaire ignored his counsel and walked forward towards the approaching enemies.

Opting to wield his talisman in his left hand and hold his sword in his right, the Warrior of the Sun could only watch the small throng of hooded hollows approach with deep annoyance and anger.

"We don't have time for pathetic squabbles like this." Solaire thought as his brow furrowed and his grip tightened around his talisman. Then, bringing his hand back, he prepared to call forth a spear made entirely of surging lightning and smite those before him. Only…

Nothing happened.

There was not spark of light, nor the feeling of power gathering in his hand. He could only gaze back at his talisman with the look of surprise and disbelief. The Lightning spear was a staple of his covenant. Casting it always came as easy a breathing to him.

But no longer did the miracle heed his call and he knew without question why that was.

Miracles were ancient stories of the gods imbued with powerful magic that, when recited within one's self, grant extraordinary power. Unfortunately, the crutch of this weapon is that they are entirely dependent upon one's faith. If you did not believe in those tales, truly believe them with your heart and soul, then the miracles were impossible to utilize.

That was the cause for Solaire at this moment. Now that he knew the truth of the curse and of the actions of the gods, his faith was shaken. He no longer held the same unwavering faith that he once held. And for someone like him, a person who wore his faith on his shoulders so proudly, this sudden revelation was flooring.

The first hollows of the small horde had just enough sense to believe itself lucky as it saw Solaire gazing at his pulled back hand as if mesmerized. With a hasty movement, it ran forward and struck out at the Knight, aiming to have its massive knife slash into his throat.

With skill that said he was more than fully aware of his surroundings, Solaire sharply shifted his body and easily redirected the blow to the side, before gliding his sword along its arm and cutting deep into its throat.

That one death was only the beginning as the Sunlight Warrior didn't even wait for the hollows body to fall to the ground before he charged headfirst into the others behind it. They didn't know it, but the swirl of rampant emotion that filled him at that very moment was about to be taken out on each and every one of them.

Meanwhile, trying his best to ignore the fact that Solaire just charged headfirst into a mob of hollows alone, Oscar moved with haste to beat the more rugged and poorly armed ones to the door that held the sorcerer.

Retrieving the key that was given to him by the Prophet, he quickly unlocked and opened the door with the mod of hollows a few seconds away from closing in on him.

"Brilliant! You've opened the door for me. I'm sav-" Griggs said happily once the door that held him finally opened but stopped once he got a good look at the light cutting into the room. "Is it night out?"

In the sorcerer's defense, his question and the complete look befuddlement on his face were not unfounded in the least. It was known by all that, be it by magic or the natural way of the world, the sun never sets upon Lordran.

But as a single hollow sprinted ahead of the mob and swung its broken sword, Oscar barely gave the comment a thought as he deflected the blow with his sword and impaled the hollow through its chest.

"Less words, more helping." Oscar said shorty as he kicked the hollow off his blade and into the incoming enemies, causing the ones in front to stumble and slow to a small halt.

Stepping free of his prison with catalyst in hand, Griggs needed only a moment to realize the situation and choose to act.

"Very well." Griggs said as he raised his catalyst above his head causing it to begin to radiate with the blue aura known by all to symbolize the use of magic. "I regret meeting you under such circumstances, but I'm glad to be able to repay your-"

Whatever the sorcerer was about to say was cut off once again as a massive man sprinted past him and directly towards the mob of hollows. Quickly to realize that it was Solaire rushing forward like a madman, Oscar turned his back toward where he thought that mob of hooded hollows were approaching. Only to find that the area at his rear was littered with their corpses left and right, each one missing at limb from its body.

"He killed them all that quickly?" Oscar could not help but think as he turned back towards Solaire's assault on the six remaining hollows.

The fact that their more agile and cunning brethren hollows could not defeat him should be more than enough to show that these shambling corpses had no chance of winning against the man.

Completely disregarding the need for his shield, Solaire punched the first hollow he came across straight in its jaw, sending it flying on its back with a broken nose and shattered teeth. The next three were the luckiest ones, their bodies being quickly cleaved into with a handful of expert slashes of the knight's blade. The last two were dealt with just as quickly as Solaire used the hilt of his blade to shatter the skull of one, before impaling his blade into the chest of the other.

With the only living hollow left being the one he punched, Solaire finished things up by harshly stomping upon the last hollow, before cutting its head in half at its eyes.

"Uh…Good work." Oscar said deftly as he took a moment to take in the fact that Solaire killed twelve hollows roughly the same amount time it took him to get to the door and speak to Griggs.

Solaire, not even breathing hard, simply turned towards Oscar and the Sorcerer at his side. Not saying a single word after he had done so.

"G-Greetings." The Sorcerer said a bit nervously as his masked rescuer stared down at him silently. "I am Griggs of Vinheim. A sorcerer of the school."

"We know." Was all Solaire said as he moved his towering form forward, barely glancing at the anxious man before him before seemingly beginning to walk away toward the area they first met the Capra Demon.

"Hey, hold on minute." Oscar said, placing a hand on the Sunlight Warrior shoulder and stopping his advance. "Don't you think we should give a bit more of an explanation than that."

"And what exactly should we tell him?" Solaire said coldly without turning back, acknowledging that they couldn't tell the sorcerer anything of real significance to their situation and to stand here speaking idly was nothing but a waste of time.

"How about why we're here and who sent us for starters." Oscar replied, holding his ground.

"What purpose would it serve? We were sent to free him and now he's freed." Solaire said calmly. "We still have to save Laurentius, who is going to be eaten alive and I doubt I have to mention our "Other" situation that is also time sensitive."

"Wait, what? Going to be eaten?" Griggs said trying to make sure he had heard that right.

"Fine. I see your point." Oscar said, not appreciating Solaire's bluntness, but understanding his argument. So, with that comment, he turned towards the sorcerer and spoke plainly. "Forgive me, but it seems our explanations will have to be saved for another time. Are you aware of a place called Firelink Shrine?"

"I am." Griggs replied. "It was where I was headed before becoming trapped here."

"Good. Then you can head there on your own. If that catalyst is any indication, I assume you can take care of a few hollows without our aid." Oscar said before walking past the sorcerer and moving towards Solaire as they both began to make their way forward once again.

With both warriors walking away without telling him a single piece of useful information about who they are, how they knew to shout out for him here or what was that comment about someone about to be eaten was about, Griggs managed to find his voice to try and ask one parting question.

"Can you at least tell me your names, so I know who to thank?" Griggs said to their back.

Only one of the two bothered to stop, turn back and answer the remark.

"My name is Oscar, and he is Solaire." Was all the knight said before turning back around and walking away once more. "Feel free to thank us by not getting stuck a second time while we're gone."

Leaving Griggs with the feeling that he may have just been insulted, Oscar and Solaire moved forward and past the area the Capra Demon once stood. One might think that revisiting such a location would bring about feelings of apprehension, but Oscar only scoffed lightly as he gave it a passing glance and Solaire didn't seem to visibly acknowledge it at all as they walked by.

Making their way down a stairway that lead to an open-ended ally, the only problem the two encountered was two hollows waiting to ambush them down the stairs. With one standing out in the open and the other waiting around the corner to stab who ever came in the back before they ever knew there were two of them. But, as both knights were more than always aware of their surroundings and kept their eye out for further ambushes, their tactics amounted to nothing more than a brief encounter. With Oscar impaling the hollow who hid behind the corner and saving Solaire, and Solaire easily dealing with the remaining hollow by slitting its throat.

Making their way further day the alley, ignoring the stairway the lead upward and likely away from the sewers they were told to head too, the two came upon a massive steel door that was rusted into a nearly completely brown.

Moving forward and attempting to open the door, Solaire grabbed the metal door handle and pulled at it, only to find that it was locked and refused to budge.

"So…do you want to let me know what the hell happened back there?" Oscar said, pulling a key from his hip that Solaire could only assume went to the door. "You brought half the damn town down on us."

"We handled it. There is nothing more to speak of." Solaire said simply, his massive form towering over Oscar.

"And should I expect those kinds of tactics moving forward? Just give a shout to every hollow or any other monstrosity nearby to let them know exactly where we are?" Oscar retorted, not intimidated by the man in from of him in the slightest.

"We needed to get through there quickly. I was confident that we could handle any number of hollows or enemies that came for us. We didn't have no time to slowly make our way to every building and until we found him." Solaire argued back.

"That kind of arrogant thinking is that fastest way to getting us both killed, Solaire. We can't just throw caution to the wind like that." Oscar said, not willing to let this argument pass. "I don't know if it's because of Siegmeyer or because of what we were told, but your clearly not in the right mind for combat. You are not one to scream out and alert an entire area so recklessly without even warning me in the slightest. You put not only our loves, but the lives of the one's we came to save in danger. So right now, you need to take a moment to breath, regain your composure and calm down."

At this, both warriors paused and stared into the helmet of the other. The tension between them not leaving but not growing either.

Among both undead and humans, one thing was understood to be of invaluable fundamental to surviving in these grim times, especially in Lordran; One must always remain calm, serene and in control of yourself.

Being fully aware of the reality and the loves that rested on them both, Oscar understood why his friend was somewhat impatient. But he also knew that if Solaire continued to let his emotions push him into making abrupt or rash actions, there was a danger that they would stop functioning as a cohesive team. For example, how easy would it be to walk into an unknown, hostile area with someone who might suddenly decide that you can handle anything there no matter what and alert the entire area of your presence? Would it be possible to trust and fight with someone who might decide to needlessly increase the chance of your deaths?

Teammates covered one another's backs in situations where their lives were in danger. They had to maintain a minimum level of trust with one another. Solaire making a decision like the one he did before may not have attracted anything they could not handle this time, but what happens next time? What happens when something comes along that they can't handle.

Solaire's actions have called into question his dependability and Oscar was determined to settle this matter here and now.

"Solaire, we're going to fighting for our lives together. I don't want there to be even a single moment where I think you might do something like that again." Oscar said gravely. "I need to know that you can keep a level head moving forward."

Solaire, being a veteran Undead and Knight, fully understood why Oscar was so adamant about his actions. He was aware that at a moment notice, they could both suddenly find themselves fighting against something that could kill them with minimal effort and he had only increased the chance of something going wrong.

It was unfortunate, however, that with the combination of the Prophets revelation and the fact that every second they spent here was time that could cost Laurentius his life, the last thing the Sunlight Warrior wanted to do was speak on the state of his faith or the fact he couldn't use his miracle.

So, if only to give a bit of ease to Oscar, Solaire visibly took a slow, serene breath before speaking. But with the combination of the Prophets revelation, the state of his faith and the fact he couldn't use his miracle, the breath didn't do much to settle his thoughts.

"Sorry. I'm fine and perfectly calm. You don't have to worry about me doing something as heedless like that again. You have my word."

Letting that hang between them for a moment, as if he was allowing the words to reaffirm their trust, Oscar nodded towards his friend before walking past him. Placing the key into the door and swinging it open with a loud creak.

The two paused only momentarily at the shadows that hid everything beyond the door, before traveling inside.

The Depths

The waiting was the worst part. Not the screams of people that were taken before him, not the meaty thuds that came from outside the room, nor the abrupt cutoff of said screaming as a wet Shlick sounded off not seconds after.

It was the waiting that frightened him the most.

He couldn't get free from this god forsaken barrel they stuffed him in. Not that it would make a difference if he could. They'd tied his arms and legs together with thick, foul smelling rope. There was no way to be certain what it was exactly, but whatever they soaked his bindings in refused to allow the rope to be burned by his pyromancy.

And so, he had no choice but to wait, trapped, eye's darting around, restless, waiting to catch sight of the abominable things as they came for him.

Soon enough, his face grew pale and his lips began to tremble as he suddenly began to hear heavy footsteps fall upon the ground and coming toward the door. He knew exactly what they had in store for him once they came. The bloody aprons and butchers' tools, not to mention the screams from the few others they'd taken before, left little to the imagination.

"…Oh gods, please…" Laurentius said as the muscle-bound form of his captor appeared in the doorway and began stalking towards him. He could only muster enough courage to whimper slightly as she easily pulled his body from the barrel and grabbed him by his collar with one hand.

She dragged him along the floor with little care for his struggling until they both arrived at a makeshift kitchen of sorts. Well…to be more precise, it was nothing more than a kitchen in the eyes of the massive butcher. But in Laurentius's eye's, and the eyes of any sane person, the place was nothing short of a slaughterhouse.

A shallow pool of dark red blood stained the ground and sitting along the table she was taking him towards was an assortment of severed limbs and bloodied blades.

The only thing that made it all the more terrifying was when a much smaller woman, wearing a brown sack over her head and a few pieces of brown clothe on her body to make her decent, approached him and his captor, dragging some sort of enormous blade covered with dried blood along the ground behind her.

Laurentius eye's grew teary with fear as he heard her chuckle delightedly at seeing him. The psychotic light in her eye's made it clear that what was about to happen next would be very amusing to her. However, as she tried to approach them, the woman was roughly pushed aside and given an angry grunt by his more massive captive.

As she was sent stumbling out of the way with a whine, Laurentius was at last brought to the massive table in the middle of the kitchen and tossed on top of it.

He grunted loudly and struggled with a great deal of effort once she released her hold on him, even if he knew he couldn't get away bound up as he was. The bloodied creature didn't care much about his resistance as she used her thick and bloodied hands to rip the cloth off his right pant before grabbing a cleaver and sharpening steel from the corner of the table.

Laurentius's breathing kicked up to eleven as he watched her sharpen the blade against the steel bar in her hand. The smaller woman stood just out of the way but close enough to get a good view. Her insane giggling was low, but she was more than close enough for him to hear her excitement.

"Oh gods, oh gods, SOMEBODY HELP ME!" the pyromancer screamed, knowing full well that the others who came before him said much the same before they were carved into pieces. His shouts didn't seem to bother the massive butcher and only excited her small companion that much further.

It was then, like a golden miracle before his very eye's, did he spot two men in knights armor suddenly appear along the darkness of the kitchen. He didn't recognize them personally, but of course that didn't matter to him. At the moment Laurentius couldn't care less where they came from, why they were here or what their intentions were. He only cared that he now had a chance to get help.

"YOU! THANK GOD, HELP ME!" the Pyromancer screamed as loud as he could, almost not believing that they were real. But they were. It was actual people with weapons and the means to get him out of this nightmare.

Normally, the two would have focused on retrieving the pyromancer right away. But upon seeing the blood-soaked kitchen filled with severed arms, legs, a half-naked woman with a cleaver almost as big as her body and the monstrous butcher herself, both Oscar and Solaire froze on the spot.

Seeing these new intruders, the butcher stared at them with its red eyes for a moment before turning back towards the man on the table in front of her and raising her cleaver above her shoulder.

"SOLAIRE,BOLTS!" was all Oscar could think to shout as he quickly deduced what was going to happen.

Hearing this, the warrior of the sun froze. Knowing he could not make use of his miracle, Solaire's mind halted for an instant and no longer to think. It was but a moment after that did that split second of inaction bring about a cost.

Oscar, believing in his comrades' ability to attack in the time needed, did not even think to rush forward. Perhaps had he known of Solaire's inability to use the Lightning Spear, he would have rushed forward without hesitation or fear. But the reality was that he didn't know and was far too slow to think otherwise.

And so, they both stood with their shields raised and their swords at the ready and watched as the butcher slammed the cleaver down on Laurentius's leg.

"AAAAAAAHH!" Laurentius screamed as his captor pushed down harder of the blade and began cutting back and forth into his leg. The initial cut was more than enough to cut through his bones, she was only cutting through the flesh that remained to completely severe the appendage.

In truth, the butcher fully capable of killing him quickly via burying the blade into his skull, but as he was the last of the few who they'd managed to capture alive she wanted savor the process of taking care of the meat.

Hearing his scream, Oscars mind told him to act despite the glaring threat the massive butcher presented. So, he charged forward toward the larger of the two threats with his sword and shield at the ready. Simply thinking to get it away from the Pyromancer on the table, the Knight of Astora came just within range of her to use his sword before thrusting the blade forward towards its throat. It was only meant to signify himself as a threat and get the butcher to come away from the table to face him, not to kill.

Luckily this attempt worked well enough as the butcher motioned its body back to avoid the point of the blade piercing its throat, before it ripped the cleaver free from Laurentius's leg with a meaty Shlick and walked around the table, moving towards Oscar in a threatening manner.

Solaire didn't even have time to consider giving him aid before the smaller woman picked up her ludicrously sized cleaver and charged towards him with a rabid snarl.

Raising her blade high with two hands on its handle, the woman swung at the Sunlight Warrior twice, with Solaire blocking the first blow with his shield and ducking beneath the second. Seeing a small opening he swung his own weapon at her side, but she seemed competent enough with her weapon that she let one end of the blade fall to the floor while she used her free hand to brace against the blunt end of the blade, stopping Solaire's attack cold.

Following up with this action, the woman quickly shifted her stance and struck Solaire helmet with the hilt of her weapon, momentarily disorienting him. Instinctively raising his shield to defend against whatever attack came next, Solaire did not expect the woman to raise her foot a deliver a kick that was strong enough to knock his shield aside and throw him off balance.

As she raised her weapon for yet another swing at him, Solaire was quick to decide what his next action would be. As he was to off balance to use his shield or wield his sword to redirect the blow, Solaire opted to merely overpower her. Just as her weapon was about to fly towards him, the Warrior of the Sun threw his weight forward, ramming his shoulder into her chest, and carried her to a stack of boxes near the rear of the kitchen.

What he planned to do was use the weight of her own weapon to force her backward and into the wall, the boxes would surely aid in causing her trouble in standing firmly once again. As she was regaining her footing, she would be hard pressed to defend herself and he would end her there.

It came as great surprise to him when the box merely gave way to their combined weight and he found himself free falling through the air with her along with him. It quickly become evident that the boxes hid a massive opening in the floor that lead straight downward further into the sewers.

Soon enough both Solaire and the woman's falling bodies came to a painful halt as they slammed into a solid concrete floor with shallow, putrid smelling water pooled along the ground.

"..Ugh….Gah…" Solaire groaned as he struggled will the fact that the wind was just forced out of his lungs and his chest was now screaming to take a breath.

Slowly rolling onto his side and regaining his bearings, he could tell that the woman who fell beside him was not fairing much better as she was groaning in pain just as he was. With both steadily making their way to their hands and knees they were completely oblivious to what was standing over and glaring at both of them.

SKREEEK

A sharp, ear-piercing cry caused both individuals eyes to shoot up. What greeted them was the disgusting form of an Undead Rat the size of small house. With half of its jaw completely rotted away showing only bare teeth, festering puss filled wounds all over its body, pure white dead eye's that seemed to see nothing at all and the froth of foam that formed at its mouth, both Solaire and the woman went wide eyed with fear.

The monstrosity did not move, it simply stood above both their kneeing forms blindly snarling at itself as it looked back and forth between them in a hasty manner.

The woman at his side began to whimper beneath the sack on her head, while Solaire regained himself just enough to spot his sword and shield laying in the dirtied water out of the corner of his eye. But he dared not make any moves and agitate the massive rat.

He didn't have to think long over what he should do next, since the rat suddenly raised itself high on its back legs before pouncing onto the woman at his side and bitting into her arm with is teeth. Earning a shrill scream that held a mix of pain from the wound and the fear of knowing that her fate was sealed.

With the game of rat-supper-roulette unanimously ending in his favor, Solaire was quick to retrieve his sword and shield. He then spotted two forms of escape, a lone hallway just out of the way and a waterfall at the end of the room. Easily deciding the hallway was his best bet, the Warrior of the Sun began to make his way towards it.

"WAAAAAAH! AAAAAAAHH!" the woman screamed as the rat's teeth tore into one of her arms. The animal's tense muscles rippled powerfully, and its frothing slobber was flung around in the air like slime as it moved its head around with a furious speed.

Hearing her agonized and panicked wailing, Solaire conscious forced him took a moment to look back at the violent scene.

"You cannot leave. You are a Warrior of the Sun." Solaire honor told him. "It is your duty to protect and save those in need."

To be perfectly clear, if it were any other sane human in that chamber, they would have already left the room and wouldn't have had a single regret about leaving the woman to die. But Solaire wasn't like most humans. He had dedicated himself to his covenant and lived his life following the most righteous of virtues in his quest to find his very own sun.

He was a slave to his morals.

This woman was a cannibal. There were pieces of people strewn about inside a kitchen not far above. She was trying to kill him and likely add him to those pieces not five minutes ago. Everything about her was wrong and unnatural.

But still….

She was a person. A life. One that one's going to be extinguished and he had the means to do something about. Was it not his duty to protect others? He had already lost his faith, should he toss aside his moral code as well? Lose the message that his covenant stands for?

"…Grrr, dammit!" Solaire said through gritted teeth as he turned around and charged at the beast from behind with his weapon at the ready.

He was going to risk his life for a cannibal. He was going to risk being ripped apart and killed fighting for one of the lowest pieces of scum this world has to offer. What he was doing was insane, idiotic….wrong.

But even knowing that….

He had to hold out hope that even the most despicable and lowest scum of a person could deserve to be given a second chance. That even when they are abandoned by their gods and used as nothing more than disposable tools, they were still worth saving. There had to be a chance that people could do better, right? That even the most hopeless individual could be brought to the light.

"RRRRAAAAGH!' Solaire shouted a war cry as he stabbed his blade deep into the Rats rib and continued to push it forward, forcing it off the woman's body as the blade punctured its lungs.

Roughly pulling the blade free from its sore covered flesh, Solaire raised the blade and cut into the beast eye's as it quickly turned its body to try and snap at the man that had attacked him. With the Knights blade meeting its face halfway, the Rat screamed in pain as it eye was suddenly cut into causing blood and pus to drain from the wound.

Not letting up in his attack, Solaire thrust his blade into the beast throat. As soon as the blade pierced its neck, he tightened his grip on the handle of his sword and forced it to cut free. Splitting its neck open and causing the creature to fall and spasm across the floor as blood poured from its mouth and throat.

Taking a few steps back and raising his shield just in raised itself in a last ditch effort to kill him, the warrior of the sun watched as the creature bleed to death along the floor, its open flesh adding to the putrid odor of the sewer.

Only once its body fell to the ground and it finally finished choking on its own blood, did Solaire relax his muscle and take a deep breath.

With the greatest threat taken care of, he turned towards the woman still laying on the floor and bleeding profusely from her mangled and torn arm. As she stared up at him, completely helpless and quivering like a wounded dog, Solaire stood silent above her, staring back with no idea how he should proceed from here.

After a few moments of silence pass with neither making any sort of move, the woman's blood began to visibly pool and change the color of the water beneath her. Seeing that she was bleeding out but too terrified to notice, Solaire took a step forward.

"N-NAH! NAH!" the woman screamed incoherently with great fear as she eyed his sword and tried to scramble away from him, but the pain from her away prevented her from moving very much. So, she simply chose to wave her uninjured arm out in front of her.

"Calm down, calm down. I'm not trying to hurt you." Solaire said trying to ease her down, the irony of saying that to a person like her not lost on him. "We need to do something about your wound or you're going to die."

Once again attempting to approach her, the knight took a single step before she panicked once again.

"GAAH! N-NAAH!" she screamed fearfully as if to tell him not to come closer.

It was at this point that Solaire began to suspect that she may not have been capable of speaking intelligible words or even understanding him very well. From her actions, it appeared to him that her intelligence was very limited. Taking this into account, he thought that perhaps he should take a different approach to this situation.

So, putting himself even further at risk, the knight slowly bent down to the ground and placed his weapon and shield along the ground, completely disarming himself. The action seemed to catch the woman off guard as she rapidly glanced from to his armaments and back to him trying to figure out what he was doing.

"Look." The knight said calmly as he held his hands up to show that he had nothing. "I'm just trying to help. I give you my word that I mean you no harm. Now I'm going to take a step towards you, alright?"

Doing as he said, he took a slow step forward to her. Seeing his actions, the woman shuddered somewhat but otherwise didn't make a sound. Once he saw that she did not cry out and scream at him, he took a second step after that, then a third, until he was standing directly over her.

Once he was close enough, she visibly tensed up and gave a slight whine as he took a knee in the water, looked at her arm and then looked her directly in her eyes.

"My name is Solaire of Astora." The Knight said introducing himself to the savage. "Can you give me your name?"

She glanced away, then back towards him before making a sound.

"D-..Dah." she said with a trace of fear still in her tone.

"Hm. Alright." Solaire said, confirming that she indeed only able to speak in moans or grunts. He then turned his attention back towards her mutilated arm. "We need to do something about that. I'm going to need to borrow that bag on your head, okay?"

With that, the Knight slowly raised his hand to her face, earning a small flinch from her, before his hand fell on the top of the sac and he slowly pulled it off, revealing her face to him.

Her hair was messy, wild and dirty beneath the sack, flowing in waves to around her face. Her eye's, framed by long lashes, were a dark shade of mahogany that stared at him with the fearful question of if was he going to kill or hurt her behind them. She had a straight nose, full lips- for a cannibal, she didn't look that different from an average village girl, if only a great deal more unkept and wild.

Holding her stare only until he had the sack in hand and confirmed that its material was suited for what he needed it to do,, Solaire gripped the item in both hands and ripped it open to increase its length.

Then, much to the woman's confusion, he began to wrap it around her wound.

"Brace yourself." Solaire warned calmly. "This may you hurt a bit."

After saying this, he quickly tightened the makeshift bandage around the wound to stop the bleeding, earning a small murmur of pain from the woman and causing her to recoil slightly. But once the sharp pain had subsided and Solaire tied the binding in a knot, she looked at her arm and then to him with a sense of perplexity.

It seemed Solaire was not the only one who didn't know what to make of this situation.

"Okay.…well... that's done now...um…good job..." Solaire said as reality reared it head. He's killed the beast, saved her life….and now he was kneeling before her with no idea what he must do next.

From the fact that she couldn't speak any coherent words and was currently staring at him like a stray animal would look at a stranger who offered them a shred of kindness would, he could tell that he wouldn't be getting any thought from her.

It was then that she leaned forward and carefully raised a hand to his helmet.

"Oh…" was all the warrior of the Sun could say as the woman began to poke at his head gear. The action was once again akin to a stray animal as it tried to get a feel to a kind stranger.

"Maaah." She moaned lowly as she put all her brain cells together and was slowly able to put it together that the thing on his head was indeed not his actual face.

Not exactly keen to be poked, Solaire gently put his hand over hers and lowered it down, an action she went along with easily enough. Since he wasn't going to be getting any help from her in this and he didn't know what the correct course of action was, the Knight defaulted to thinking what the Prophet would do if it were him with this choice.

It didn't take him more than a few moments to come to an answer to that question. When thinking of him and the way he unflinching stands by his decisions, Solaire knew that if the Prophet chose to save and protect someone, he'd stick by them. More than likely he'd say something like "To hell with it. Let's just make it out of here and I'll worry about the rest later."

So, if that was the case, then why couldn't he be just as resolute as he would be?

"Alright, miss…" Solaire said as he offered her his hand to her. "What say you and I leave this place together? We'll worry about what comes after later."

He said this more to himself than to her. There was absolutely no plan whatsoever for what he was going to do with this woman. He didn't have a clue why he did what he did or what he hoped to gain by saving her.

But as he watched her look at his hand for a moment as if it was the most mystifying thing in the world and then watch as she hesitantly placed her hand in his own, he knew he had made the right choice in coming back.

If the gods had turned their back on them all and sought only to maintain they're rule, then did the world not need someone to give people hope. To be there to believe in them even when others would say they are a lost cause.

Solaire knew someone had to stand for what was right, even if what was right could needlessly bring harm to himself. Indeed, even to one who had lost much of his faith, he believed it was better to lose and do the right thing, than to win and do the wrong thing.

So, he decided that no matter what, he would stay true to his values and extend a hand of hope to any who would wish to take it. He would be the light that would shine on those mired in even the blackest of dark.

So swore Solaire, the Warrior of Sunlight.

OKAY, WAIT A MINUTE! HEAR ME OUT FOR A SECOND!

I know what eeeeverybody is gonna say and I get it, Mildred is a cannibal and eats men for snacks. But I didn't want to just kill off such a memorable character. Everybody knows who Mildred is, but nobody knows what he deal is. So yeah, I decided it wasn't to far fetched to have her be something siple creature and have Solaire reach out to her even knowing what she was. Also, her intelligence is obviously low, so I think I might have her just do what she wants, when she wants in the story. With a bit of Solaire correcting her and trying to keep her from doing anything too bad.

Speaking of Solaire, In case you guys haven't figured it out, I'm making him out to be the most morally just of the group. He's not stupid or naïve, but he wants to believe in the good in everybody. Right now he's lost a great deal of faith in the gods, but I fully plan to give him strength to match what his character deserves. When he gets his well deserved power reveal, you can bet you tookus that it will be something monumental.

As for what I plan to do with Mildred, I'll say what I've been saying the entire time I've been writing this story, I got no freaking idea. For all you new guys who favorited (Thanks for that by the way) you should know that I'm making aaaaaall of this up as I go. So this stories a bit of a wild card.

Alright, that's all I have to say this time.

As always, feel free to leave a review and tell me what you guys thought about this chapter of the story. Was having Solaire show kindness to Mildred a good decision, was Mildred actions a bit too much, how do you guys think they should procced from here? Honest opinions are always appreciated as I'm always looking to improve my style of writing to make this story a bit more interesting for you guys. So don't be shy in telling me your thoughts about how things are going so far. Outside opinions will have a huge effect on how this story will play out.

This is Supreme Gamer, Signing out.
