(Cinder two days after the failed attack on Amber)

Finishing her explanation to Salem for failing to obtain the Fall maiden's power. She stood in trepidation as she waited for Salem's reaction. After a bit, she spoke.

"How did this 'creature' look, Cinder?" Gulping, Cinder told Salem of Daniel's look from his red body, weapon, and spirling vortex head. "How... fascinating. Never in my long life have I heard of a creature of that structure." Pausing for a bit, Salem took a thinking pose as she began forming new orders to give to Cinder. "I'm sure my dear old husband has already formed plans to recruit this creature. And the way you've told me how it attacked you. I doubt it will join us. A pity something like that would have been a great boon for us. But it matters not, like all those that tried to oppose me. It will fail." chuckling at that, she continues, "I'll send Tryian and Hazel to seek the spring maiden for you to gain their power instead. Cinder, you will continue the plans for Vale even without the maiden powers. And report any news about this creature if you hear any. Am I clear?"

"O-of course, mistress, I won't fail you again." Silently cursing herself for stuttering.

"I count on it." Soon the image of Salem disappeared, leaving only the red-like mist of the seer Grimm. Exiting the room where the seer was, she saw both Emerald and Mercury, her two henchmen.

"So, what happens now, Cinder?" Spoke Emerald.

Doing her usual stoic and confident look, Cinder spoke. "We continue with the plan. Even without the fall maidens power."

(Daniel)

Crap, crap, crap, crap, crap! So you're probably wondering why I'm panicking. Maybe even running away from something. I knew I wouldn't get the Legendary reward anytime soon, especially with how I get traits from absorbing creatures. So I tried to do a deathless run instead, and well. I may end up failing that. But let's not worry about that right now. Let's start from the beginning.

Will now display damaged dealt.

Yes, bear cave. It must be full of bears. Why no bears, then? Why only big fluffy dogs?

Why are you talking like that?

I reverted to Monke. Leave me be.

?

I'm bored, alright.

But you just started this dungeon.

Still bored, and not only that, why is this dungeon called a bear cave when I've only seen wolves! No bears!

With a mental sigh, I continued walking deeper into the cave. I was also in a bad mood because I tripped and landed on a sharp rock. Which instantly failed my no-damage optional side quest.

Daniel happily skipped through the cave until he tripped over a small pebble. Unluckily he landed on a naturally sharpened rock.

REEEE-

(Flashback end)

Yeah, I was rightfully pissed about that. Still, though, since I failed that objective, I decided I might as well try absorbing the wolves for a new trait. Walking around a corner of the cave, I saw a big group of dire wolves again. Hiding behind the corner again, I peeked to see how many wolves I'll have to fight.

I saw 8 wolves surrounding what appeared to be a larger-sized version of them. Hell, all these juvenile wolves look like ordinary wolves. If this is some sort of adult, then I'll be damn. They are huge! I also see two wolves that appear to have hardened mud on their fur. Is that supposed to be their armor?

Thinking nothing different, I readied my scythe and used my newly obtained skill [Boomerange Scythe]. Aiming, I launched my scythe at some unexpecting wolves. The scythe hit three wolves, causing them to cry out in pain. Launching them, the scythe began returning, hitting the more enormous wolf on the way back.

Grabbing my scythe back, I come out of hiding. The wolves instantly took notice of me and began growling. One even began howling, probably to let the rest of the pack know about me. So reading my scythe, I get ready for a fight- holy Jesus, it's big.

The Enormous Wolf I hit got off its laying position and was now standing at full height. I also have you know this cave isn't tiny, and this wolf was already a quarter there to the ceiling. Not only that, It was baring its humongous teeth at me.

Shaking my head, I steeled myself and made the first move. Once again, I launched my scythe at the wolves. I hit earlier to take out the already weakened enemies. Two of them dodged it but hit the last one killing them.

The dead wolf began tearing itself about, and in a line of gore, the wolf's flesh began getting absorbed into my vortex head.

+1432 Mass

Yeah, it's a brutal process if they are organic since they must be torn into tiny pieces for me to absorb them. And it's excruciatingly painful from what I heard when the earlier wolves were absorbed. Still focusing on the battle, I dashed toward my scythe and Pulled it back toward me. Hitting the giant wolf again.

*Matured Direwolf

Whimpering, they backed off as the giant wolf faced me again. So it wants me for itself. That's gonna be its final mistake. Glowing both red and yellow, the wolf was charging up to bite me again. Quickly reacting, I used my Pull ability on it, causing it to slam down hard onto the floor, leaving it open for an attack. So wasting no time, I dashed toward it and twirled my body for me to hit it multiple times.

The giant wolf backed off from the last attack before jumping onto a ledge I couldn't reach. Growling at me while squinting its eyes at me. Howling, the surrounding wolves began approaching me again. But the giant wolf started stomping its paws on the floor, causing the surrounding cave to shake. Thinking nothing of it, I threw my scythe at the group of wolfs, hitting three of them while causing the rest to dash at me. Throwing one over my shoulder, I saw a wolf attempting to bite me. Timing it right, I manage to catch it in my vortex. Letting out a cry of pain, I saw the wolf's fur, skin, muscle, organs, and bones get absorbed into my spiral head. Doing so since all of my breath bars were full. My body released 3 projectile wisps that targeted random wolfs, hurting them but not killing them.

Seeing their brethren get absorbed by me, the wolfs stopped their attack. They began to slowly back off, afraid of suffering the same fate as their unlucky kin. Feeling the ground shaking again, I looked back to the giant wolf to see him looking at me angrily now. Rising to its hind leg, it again began stomping on the ground. Then I heard it... cracking. Looking up, I saw stalactites falling around now. Clever dog, but little did it know I could absorb these and launch them straight at it. So when stalactites began falling on top of me, I absorbed them before launching the projectile at the giant wolf. Caught off guard by the projectile, the giant wolf took the full brunt of the projectile.

When it focused back onto me, its eye was full of pure unadulterated rage. The wolf jumped off its ledge and began rushing at me. Launching itself at me, I noticed it didn't glow red. I'm able to Absorb it. So preparing myself, I waited until the giant wolf got closer. Once close, I expanded my vortex, catching the wolf in its pull. It cried in pain as it tried to resist my pull but couldn't. Its flesh slowly started tearing itself off its body until I absorbed it fully.

Turning back to face the remaining wolfs; they were looking at me in fear. Shaking as if they were cold. Eventually, one of the wolves turned around and ran deeper into the cave. Soon the rest followed it, with me chasing them. Following them deeper inside the cave, I momentarily stopped as I saw a surrogate. Quickly running over it, I imprinted it and exited it to continue chasing the wolfs.

When I rounded the corner, I expected to see the pack there or at least hiding somewhere, but instead, I saw a bigger pack. With an ever more enormous wolf than the Matured Direwolf. While the Matured dire wolf was the size of a pickup truck. This wolf was the size of a two-story building.

ALPHA DIREWOLF

|:10000:|20000|

And it was a mini-boss! But before it could try and attack me, an enormous bear came out of nowhere. The bear attacked the Alpha Direwolf, causing the smaller wolfs to run away from the fight. They began stampeding around me, not even trying to bite or attack me. Once all wolfs were gone, I focused my attention back on the Alpha Direwolf only to see it finally fall over dead.

The only problem with that is I didn't kill it. Turning over to look at the giant bear, who was also looking right back at me. Then with a loud roar, it stood on its hind legs, and its boss's name appeared.

{music play Grieving Rockgiant by Alex Roe}

Grieving Mother Bear

|200000|

Oh boy, this ain't a mini-boss. This is the straight-up real boss. The bear finally drops down on all fours causing the cave to rumble, making debris fall. Quickly I began dashing around the bear while stopping momentarily to absorb a falling stalactite and launch it at the bear.

But the bear mostly shrugged it off as it hit her. Glowing red, it swung its paw at me, which I double jump over before dashing through her. Once behind her, I began quickly swinging my scythe. What caught me off guard, though, was the Mother bear launching itself backwards and falling on top of me.

Once done healing, I quickly had to dash away from a swipe, leaving my echo behind, causing it to injure the Mother Bear. Dashing to make some room between the Mother Bear and me. Quickly aiming, I threw my scythe at it and started using my healing spell to regenerate my breath bars.

I did that probably six times before the Mother Bear smashed itself against the wall trying to hit me. I also manage to fully gain my Breath bar back as well.

Breath bar:(****)(****)(****)

Checking the health of the Mother Bear, I see how much damage I have done to her.

Grieving Mother Bear |192744|

I'VE BARELY DONE ANY DAMAGE TO IT! Seeing my scythe won't help me here, I take out my Attunning Lantern. While my scythe had two sickly red blood metal edges, my Attunning Lantern almost looked like a flail with a bloated star shape look. It has an opening in the middle that glows purple when I force its power out. Once out, I don't waste using the Lantern on the Mother Bear.

But it is still not enough. So I continue adding more attunement stack onto the Mother Bear. In contrast, I continue either Dashing through or absorbing her attacks. Yeah, compared to smaller Prey that I can absorb instantly, Boss Prey can only be absorbed by a small portion.

Still trying to dash through an attack, I ended up timing it wrong, and I got hit.

So yeah, the Grieving Mother Bear is a powerful boss. I'm pretty sure it's way above my level as well. So after running, I hid behind a boulder while the Mother bear franticly searched for me. Using my healing magic, I begin regenerating my breath bars back.

Once my breath meters were full, I peeked out of my hiding spot. I began scanning the surroundings hoping to find anything to use as an advantage. That was until I saw the giant stalactite hanging from the ceiling. If possible, I could try to lead the Mother bear to be underneath that stalactite. Then drop it hoping to either deal a lot of damage or at least kill it instantly.

So with a plan formed, I exited my hiding spot and began slowly sneaky behind the Mother bear. Once behind it, I double jump on its back and dash towards her neck. The Mother bear instantly became aware of me on her back. So she tried to get me off by slamming herself against the wall. Thankfully I was able to hold on as It did that, and I continued on more towards her neck.

So as it continued to thrash around, trying to pry me off her back, I saw the opportunity to drop the giant stalactite on her. But before I could, the Mother bear jumped backwards to try and crush me on her back.

Oh no, you don't! So, quickly Dashing through the Mother bear, I double-jumped toward the giant stalactite. Once close, I used my pull ability on it. The stalactite broke off from the ceiling and began falling towards the Mother bear, who was still on her back. Her stomach was wide open. So while in the air, I saw the stalactite pierce her stomach and pin her to the ground.

The bear let out a death howl before laying still.

Falling down, I used my Hover ability to ensure I didn't take fall damage. Walking up to the bear's head, I see its eye staring at me. A tear goes down the bear's eye as it moans in pain. Not wanting it to suffer more, I took out my scythe and readied it.

With one final tear going down its eyes, the bear saw this and closed its eye before I swung my scythe down, killing it.

Great Prey Crushed

I wonder why it was called the Grieving Mother Bear? Not thinking much about it, I prepare myself to absorb it.

{music play Absorb by Alex Roe}

I lifted myself off the ground, and my vortex head expanded into a bigger version of it. The bear's flesh, bone, blood, and guts began to get quickly absorbed by me. And just as quickly as I started, nothing was left of the bear.

Hmm, maybe I can use the Unbound familiar shard to make this cub my familiar. Reaching into my vortex head, I grabbed the shard, then I held the shard towards the bear. Curiously the bear began sniffing it before it started touching it. Once it made contact, the cub began to glow alongside the shard. Soon the bear disappeared, and now I held a shard with a brown reflection inside it.

And it's just a baby. Imagine when it becomes mature. Also, it may have high Intelligence, but I don't think it'll somehow start solving quantum mechanics... actually, now that I think about it, it might be able to solve quantum mechanics.

Jesus, well, I might as well let this bear out so it can level up. Um, how do I let it out?

WHAT THE FUCK WERE YOU BLESSED WITH, MOTHER FUCKER! THIS IS SUPPOSED TO BE HARD MODE!

I DON'T KNOW?!

So yeah, I decided to name the bear Yogi cause why not. I also decided to let the bear go ham killing the dire wolfs it encountered. And well, these dire wolves were at a very high level that Yogi gained tons of levels fast. And since it's not going by GRIME rules, it is becoming stupidly powerful. With a mental command, I told Yogi to return to its shard. Once it did, I began walking toward the end of this dungeon. Which was past the final boss room. Once there, I see a purple beam shooting out from the floor. Approaching it, the beam expanded, giving me three options.

Oh damn, that's a lot of things to do. Welp won't stop me. I've always wanted to travel to space. So willing Yogi out of his shard, we begin walking to find... something.

(1 week later)

In front of me laid a body pile containing at least; wait, lemme check. 5- 23 dead bodies. How did I find this? While walking, Yogi caught a whiff of something and began following it. Being curious about what Yogi smelled, I followed him. And, well yeah, the rest is history.

Jesus, what sick person would do this? Unless this was a mass grave of diseased people? Nah, I'm sure people have the tech to cure some diseases, at least not to the point where mass grave piles are necessary... I hope.

Deciding to look for clues, I searched around, hoping to find any clues. But I gave up 10 seconds in. For one, I'm no detective, and two, I don't know what I'm doing either. I stood there, looking at the pile, until I felt Yogi call for me. Wait, felt?

Yeah, just as you can communicate with them via mental commands, they can also talk to you via the same mental connection.

Oh... then why hasn't Yogi said anything to me yet?

It's still a baby dumbass.

I'm not very bright ok! So going where Yogi was, he looked at before pointing his paw on the floor. Where he pointed, there were footprints, and there were a lot of them. Rubbing Yogi's head as a good job, I began following it with Yogi behind me.

What I got led to was a run-down town. Buildings burning down, fresh marks of blood on the floors and walls. I even saw bodies under some rubble. I was disgusted by what I saw. Looking around the town for survivors, I found a person sitting down against the wall, looking like they were still breathing. Slowly walking towards them, I began to get a better look at them.

The person was a Fanus, specifically a donkey Faunus with grey hair. They're also a guy, and the man is missing one of his donkey ears. By the looks of the wound, it's still fresh too. He was wearing a black collared shirt with a nasty claw mark on it and brown pants, and he had a small pistol next to him.

After a bit, the man finally noticed me. Lifting his head, the man looked at me, and instantly his eyes widened. Quickly as he saw me, the man lifted the pistol and was about to shoot me before the gun clicked.

"No, no, no! Please don't be out!" As he continued to aim the empty gun at me. Walking closer, the man gave up trying to shoot me and threw the gun at me instead. Which harmlessly bumped off my chest. The man continued to push himself into the wall, even with the injury on his chest. "Stay away! Please!" The man pleaded with a sob.

Once I was in front of him, I bent down to his level before raising my hand over his wound. He closed his eyes, thinking I was going to kill him. Instead, golden light came from my hand as it embraced the man. Instantly any wound the man had begun healing, and before he knew it, he was healed.

Slowly the man opened his eyes. Rather than fear in his eyes, there was now confusion. The man patted his chest, looking over himself and confirming he was indeed healed. The donkey faunus then looked back at me with a thankful look. Standing up, I approach Yogi and command him to protect the man from danger.

"Is that a bear?"

Yogi, without question, begins approaching the man. Once his face was in front of the man, he began licking him.

"Ah, nbo! Stopbl, plbease!" The man struggled underneath the weight of Yogi as he relentlessly continued licking the man. Sending a mental command to not eat him, I continue looking around the village.

I did find more people, and like with the Faunus, they were petrified of me. But quickly got over their fear once I healed any injuries they had or got them out of any heavy rubble. Soon I found and healed 18 people, 5 of whom were kids, 2 teenagers, 3 were elderly, and the rest were normal adults.

Once, I had gathered them safely with Yogi guarding them. I began making a fire to warm the group since the sun was beginning to set. Once the fire was made, everyone sat around it in a sad, awkward silence. Now that I think about it, I don't have any means to talk to them. Hmm, wait, I know!

Quickly I opened the game shop and bought a notebook and a pencil.

-10 SC

Once I saw them appear in my inventory, I pulled them out of my vortex head and began writing my questions.

'What happened here?' Finished, I turned the book around and showed it to the surrounding people.

"Grimm and bandits." A woman said. She was a tall but thin woman with barely any muscle of her. But not to the point bones were showing. She had blond hair and red eyes. She was wearing a red sweater and black jeans. "It started with the bandits trying to negotiate with us to give them money for 'protection.'" Huffing at that last. "But of course, we said no and made the village guards kick them out. But they didn't take to kindly at that." Saying that, everyone began to look even more depressed. "They began robbing supply trucks filled with food and dust for the village. We tried calling the city for help, but those bastards thought ahead and blew up the nearby SDC tower, making any calls useless. And sending people out didn't work either because they always went missing. Soon things started getting worse. Because of all the negativity caused by what the bandits were doing to us, it started attracting large amounts of Grimm. Soon the bandits called it quits when the Grimm numbers became too big for them to handle and left us to handle them with barely any supplies!" She yells out before sobbing into her hands.

"The Grimm killed many of us." This time it was the donkey faunus I saved earlier who spoke. "We were a prospering village of 300 people. Now look at what is left of us. Only 18 people!"

Anger was welling inside me as I heard both the woman's and man's stories. A village of 300 people was brought down to 18 because of a group of greedy bandits who ultimately decided to ditch the village for the Grimm to cause havoc. But now that doesn't matter. What matters now are these people who need help. So writing in my notebook, I begin to ask them what they will do now.

"There's nothing left for us here. We can only leave this place and find a place to live elsewhere." The Faunus spoke. No one around the fire didn't even try to argue about rebuilding, just silently agreeing with the man.

Nodding to him, I put the notebook away before continuing to look at the fire. You know what? I'm pretty sure these people are hungry. While it won't reverse anything that has happened. I'm sure the people here will be happy to have a full stomach instead. So going back into the game shop, I bought a collapsible grill.

Taking out the collapsible grill from my inventory, everyone's eyes began to look over at me in confusion. Soon I took out my carne asada food package and set the bin full of meat on the ground. Everyone's eyes soon widened, and some even looked at it in hunger, specifically the kids. I began placing the collapsible grill on top of the fire setting it up well so the meat doesn't accidentally fall into the fire. Once done, I start placing the pieces of meat onto the grill to start cooking it. I also needed plates, so quickly I bought those from the game shop. I take it out and place the party package plates next to the meat.

Soon the meat was finished cooking, and I began taking them off the grill before replacing them with more raw meat. Giving the cooked meat to the kids first, who began eating it instantly, causing the meat to burn their mouths. Laughing, I continued cooking the rest of the meat until there was none left to cook.

Everyone was enjoying the carne asada by the looks on their faces. Hell, there were even some leftovers (surprisingly). Eventually, the sun had already fully set once everyone had eaten their portion. Everyone started turning in for the night sleeping next to the campfire. The smaller kids were sleeping against Yogi, who didn't seem to mind the weight. I watched them all night and ensured no stray Grimm attacked them.

(Next morning)

Everyone has already packed any belonging they could scavenge from the still-standing houses. Like blankets, canned food (If there were any), pillows, and ammo for those with guns. One person even found a wagon for the kids and elderly people to sit in. But we had no horses, and I wouldn't let Yogi pull it. So instead, I ended up picking the wagon up from the front and began pulling the people. I had to take small breaks here and there (and I mean small) to refill my force bar back up. The leftover meat was entirely eaten by the people in the morning. Since then, we've been moving for the past 6 hours without a sign of civilization.

"You sure you don't need any help with the carriage Akhlan?" Turning to my left, I see Russ, aka the donkey faunus. Shaking my head for the third time, the man nodded his head. I'm sure he's gonna ask again if he can help me soon.

Wanna bet on it.

Eh, sure, 100 SC that he'll ask me again In an hour or so.

I'm betting 1000 SC for an hour or over.

Wow, what a jerk move.

:P

(45 minutes later)

Pay up, boyo.

:(

+1000 SC

Heh, nice.

(3 days later)

We arrived at a village after three days of walking. To say the surviving villager was happy was an understatement. They were thrilled. The village instantly brought them in to help them out. But as soon as they saw me. Well, it wasn't pretty.

(Quick flashback)

"What the fuck is that thing!" Said a village guard as they and many others pointed guns and spears at me and Yogi.

"Please don't shoot it!" cried a villager I was escorting. "This creature was the one who helped save us from our destroyed village."

"What?" The guard looked between me and the villagers as they pleaded not to shoot me. Staring at me uncertainly, the guard lowered its weapon before ordering a command. "Cuff the creature," he said to me before looking at Yogi, who I just noticed was lying on the floor, covering its eyes with paws. So god damn adorable. "And find a cage for the bear."

The other guards didn't waste no time in putting me in cuffs. When they brought the cage for Yogi... well.

"No! Yogi is a good bear! He doesn't bite people!" The children I was escorting formed a wall against Yogi to prevent them from putting him in a cage. While this was happening, Yogi removed a paw from one of his eyes to see what was going on. They tried to move the children to put Yogi in the cage, but they refused to move out of the way. Eventually, they gave up and let the come inside the village as long as it didn't hurt anyone.

(Flashback end)

So yeah, for me, they decided to put me in a holding cell for about 6 hours. I was absolutely bored inside. So to alleviate my boredom, I made... something... somehow.

Not bad, not bad at all. I was about to check for anything else interesting before my cell was opened. Before me stood a guard who told me to follow him after cuffing me. I was led into an interrogation room, left alone with my hands cuffed to the table. 5 minutes later, 5 people walked in. Those people were Ozpin, who sat in front of me, Glynda, Ironwood, Qrow, and Winter, who all stayed standing. They all stared at me anxiously, all on guard about what I'll do (minus Ozpin, who only smiled at me.) A guard quickly came in and uncuffed me, leaving me inside the room with the 5 people.

"Well then, you're this Akhlan that saved Amber. First of all, my thanks for saving her life." Ozpin spoke, breaking the silence in the room. Nodding to his thanks, he continued. "I suppose introductions are required. My name is Ozpin. Headmaster of Beacon, my companions are Glynda Goodwitch, General Ironwood, Qrow Brawen, and Specialist Winter Schnee." Introducing everyone, they stayed on guard watching me while Ozpin stayed relaxed.

Reaching for my vortex head, I began pulling my notebook out. Though this action did cause the others in the room to reach for their weapons. They instantly calmed down once I pulled out a notebook and a pen.

Writing down my response to spin the notebook around for Ozpin to read. What he read caused his eyes to widen.

'Hello, Ozma.'

Yeah I hope yall enjoyed this story. once again leave any review to help me improve in anything or any recommendation I may or may not add them.
