Chapter 4: The Healing Pacifistic Hybrid!
For a certain half magical alien/human 21 year old hybrid, the life of Steven Quartz Cutie Pie DeMayo Diamond Universe has been one rollercoaster of intense emotions after another.
From discovering one traumatizing secret from his gem family that he found out whether it was something about his deceased mother, who was the leader of the Crystal Gems and whom he had some mixed feelings about...
Or something about his gem family that was either traumatizing or interesting or both. Which was pretty much always the latter to him at this point...
Or a normal problem his human side that he had to solve...
Sometimes, it was both of those things at once.
Like from learning that his favorite cookie brand was discontinued...
To finding out that most of his family, (sans his father) was from another world...
To witnessing the people he cares about almost die either by his fellow gems or by him unintentionally...
To having his morality and pacifistic nature tested and challenged in more ways than one...
To finding out that his mother was Pink Diamond the whole time and that he had the no longer around Diamond's gem all along...
Seeing one of his friends die on the battlefield in order to protect some endangered Gems in the bowels of the Gem home planet...
To discover that his mother ran away from her family and responsibilities because she was too scared to stand up to her fellow Diamonds (Blue, White and Yellow) as herself without hiding behind a façade that she used to start a war against herself and her the other Diamonds which destroyed lives and hurt and traumatized so many gems in the process...
To discovering that he wasn't his mother after all and that he was himself...
Accidentally shattering a gem who was one of his most hate filled enemies in a moment of anger and loss of restraint...
Having to repress his feelings until they exploded and caused massive damage to his surroundings and people in his vicinity...
To seeing, interacting, and trying the people the gems who were hurt or traumatized and either had to be forced to fight them in order to defend himself or his friends or having his request to help them denied, sometimes harshly and violently...
To the half human half gem hybrid hero himself almost dying on several one occasion or another...
And the worst part of all of that trauma and near death experiences...
Having to deal with all off it by himself because the gems couldn't and needed someone to assist them with their problems be it emotionally, mentally or physically.
Don't get him wrong, he did genuinely want to help people and his biggest feat of that was being himself and helping his family and friends to save the universe from his Diamond relatives and the rest of the Gem empire.
But hey... with every horrible experience that was a silver lining here.
Like resurrecting his friend Lars after his sacrifice...
Meeting, becoming friends with, and eventually beginning a relationship with his girlfriend, the intelligent, reliable, sword fighter Connie...
Fusing with Amethyst for the first time into Smoky Quartz...
Befriending and sticking his neck out for Peridot, such as helping her understand Earth as well as redeeming her to become a Crystal Gem, and helping her bubble the Cluster...
Talking down the geo weapon by being his friendly self...
Releasing fellow Crystal Gem, a weapons forging blacksmith gem known as Bismuth twice and helping calm her down of her animosity with his mother, who bubbled her away during the war she started...
Helping Amethyst with her insecurities when she became her own worst enemy...
Helping Garnet when she felt overwhelmed by the unpredictable ways of life, whenever she defused into the hotblooded Ruby and the coldblooded Sapphire or the pressures of being the leader of the Crystal Gems...
Helping Pearl and Greg patch things up between them after Rose/Pink passed on from birthing Steven...
Helping gems like his mother's "best friend" the jester gem known as Spinel and Pink's former servant gem, the pink Pearl that was nicknamed by Steven as "Volleyball" move on from the trauma that their former master had inflicted on them...
Helping the former planet terraforming gem known as Lapis Lazuli by releasing her from a magical mirror that she was incarcerated in during the war that his mother started, became friends with her, saved her more times than she could count, and even help her with her trust issues that she had with not just Peridot but the other gems as well, and even after that, Steven even accepted her into the Crystal Gems after she abandoned him and the other Gems when water winged gem fled space out of fear of being caught up into another war.
Helping Blue Diamond understand that making his mother cry was what drove her away...
Helping Yellow Diamond understand that trying to live up to the gem empire's standards was what drove Pink Diamond away...
Helping White Diamond realize that there was nothing wrong with being flawed...
Gaining the respect of Jasper, the "perfect" soldier gem who he had been forced to fight multiple times either by himself or with his friends, having to witness her become a monster right in front of his very eyes, accidentally shattered her when he stopped holding back and put her back together...
And getting professional help from a therapist...
Now that the half breed hero has moved out of Beach City after saying his goodbyes to his friends and family, he went out on a road trip in order to find out who he is as a human now that mission had been complete. But should there be a new threat to his planet or his universe, you can expect the half diamond/human to be there ready to defend it with everything he has at his disposal.
There will always be more work for Steven to do after all. He even said that after he stopped Spinel's invasion.
During his travels across all 50 states and 7 continents, he has met a ton of people while Connie was doing her college stuff...
Finding a home after moving out was the hardest part for him as there were so many options in all 50 states.
But eventually, he settled down in Japan. During his time there, he began to take a self defense class to make sure he didn't become rusty just in in case some of his enemies came after him as he saw the consequences thanks to Spinel coming to Earth and attacking him and his friends.
Coming to this class was also helping him learn a certain martial art that was inspired by Bushido and Zen Buddhism, focused on a strong defense, a rejection of unnecessary violence and helps him keep himself calm so his gem side does not act up and even help control it to an extent.
And it was if you were to ask him. It was the perfect combat style for him.
Speaking of Steven...
He currently was laying in a hammock in a medium sized house he was currently staying in as the man was currently on his phone, talking to his girlfriend.
"How's college so far, Connie?" Steven asked.
"It's been going great so far, Steven." His 20 year old girlfriend answered. "Are you about to go to sleep?"
"Yeah, you too?"
"Yeah, I got an exam tomorrow."
"I understand. I have a class tomorrow myself."
"Night Steven."
Night Connie, I love you."
"Love you too, my Steven."
After hearing Connie end his call, Steven turned his phone off and set it down on the dresser next to him. He then took a moment to look around his room.
He was currently in a medium room that had a mini fridge, a tall bookshelf, a large TV set that was hooked up to a game system, a medium sized warp that Bismuth and Peridot constructed for him to visit Little Homeschool or anywhere else that had a warp pad, or so the gems could visit him.
As he laid there in his pink hammock, he closed his eyes with a smile on his face as he told himself. "It's a good thing that the universe was saved or we wouldn't have this sense of peace."
As he began to slumber into the world of dreams, he will soon realize that he won't be able to wake up for a while...
The fifth member of this group of heroes has been introduced.
