Chapter 6: The Dream World: Part 1!
The realm of dreams...
Anything outside the realm of possibility can become conjured up while you're there, such as the dead can come back to life, stuff that has been broken can fixed up, even history can be changed to the desires of the dreamer.
Logic can be thrown out the freaking window and there would be no consequences for it.
Despite all that, people can use that limitless potential of such a world to their advantage.
For crying out, some people have that ability.
You'll figure out who they are later on...
Hilda's Dream...
Hilda was riding on Raven's back as rode through Trollberg's skies, having a fun time as they were doing so as it was a good day out with the sun high in the sky and the weather was good.
It wasn't just them either as they were accompanied by their friends the tiny, invisible to the human eye, elf journalist Alfur, their friends David and Frida, Hilda's mother Johanna, and the deerfox Twig.
"It feels so nice to take a ride in the sky with the people you care about." The haired teen said as she looked down over her new home.
"I can see why," Hilda's mother said as she held onto the raven's feathers for dear life. "As terrifying as this is if I'm being completely honest, it can really calm the nerves. Even a little bit though."
"Took the words right out of my mouth." David said as he too was holding onto Raven with everything he had.
Frida stroke her friend's back as she spoke soothingly. "Just think happy thoughts, Dave. It'll help."
"Think happy thoughts, think happy thoughts." The teen boy began to chant to himself as he closed his eyes, continuing to hold on tightly to his feathered friend.
"Wow, everyone looks like ants from up here." Alfur said as he was perched onto Hilda's left shoulder.
"I hope that despite how scared some of my passengers are, that they're enjoying this flight regardless." Raven said, pretending to be their airplane pilot of sorts.
"I'm fine, Raven." Hilda said, confidently.
"So am I." Frida said as she put her hands behind her head before she then laid on her back and closed her eyes, all while having a smile on her face.
"Still a bit terrified Raven, but I'm starting warm up to this kind of travel." Johanna confessed as she loosened her grip a bit on the bird's feathers.
As the flight continued, the atmosphere began to literally change around them all of a sudden.
Instead of it being a normal sunny day in Trollberg, turned into a nightmare in a matter of seconds as it became a darken city that was on fire. The flames were spreading out all over the place at random, and the scared citizens were either running for their lives or trying their best to put out the fire.
But that wasn't all that was happening down in Trollberg...
Big, strange, and green creatures with stitched shut eyes suddenly began to pop up from the ground all over the city, and they were going on an absolute rampage. Whether it was blasting buildings apart with some kind of weird, green, energy beams from their hands or their mouth or attacking the citizens that were running away from them.
"What in the..." David said as he looked down in horror at the carnage that was happening down below. "Oh my God!"
Hearing David's horrified words made Frida open her eyes as she turned towards the cowardly boy. "What's wrong?"
"Look down there, Frida!" Johanna ordered.
Frida looked down and gasped in shock at what she was seeing.
"What are those things?!" Alfur asked as he took shelter behind Hilda's left ear.
"Hmm..." Hilda began to think as she put a finger underneath her chin. "Judging by their size, the stitched eyes, and the green skin tone. The only guest I can think of is that they must be some kind of spirits."
"Spirits?" Johanna asked. "Like those Marra girls? Those girls who were giving you and David nightmares and tried to make Frida one during the Jellybean incident?"
"Yeah, those bunch of nightmare giving, torment enjoying, bunch of bitches." Hilda swore in annoyance before she then got up and stood on her own two legs. "I'm going to..."
Before the adventurer could finish her statement, all of a sudden, the dream world around her began to shake violently, almost making Hilda fall off her only mode of transportation. Luckily, she managed to stabilize her footing before she did.
The winds suddenly grew violently as the Raven struggled to maintain his flight into the air.
"The winds are really strong... I'm going to... have to... LAND!" The raven said as he and everyone riding on top of him.
Three seconds after he said this, the raven let out a scream of pain as one of his black wings was suddenly blasted out of nowhere by the energy blast from one of those strange creatures once it spotted them despite their lack of sight.
His left wing had a big gaping hole in it.
"HANG ON EVERYONE!" The great, lighting summoning, flyer cried out as he was spinning around in a tailspin at a rapid speed towards the ground.
"Mayday! Mayday! We're going down!" David cried as he held onto Frida.
"Brace for impact everyone!" Hilda ordered as she held her mother tightly, who did the same for her as well.
*CRASH*
The Raven crashed through a windows of multiple buildings with the six passengers holding onto his back as best they could, all while they were screaming in fear, before coming to skidding stop onto one of them which was a nearby hardware store.
Upon crashing, everyone were forced off the thunder spewing bird and onto the ground, groaning in pain as they were sprawled out on the hard concrete of the roof.
"Ohhhh, I'm definitely going to feel that in the morning." The raven groaned as he felt dizzy and in pain.
"Is everyone okay?!" Johanna asked in concern for the children, deerfox, and elf as well as the raven.
Before anyone could say anything else, something enormous landed on the ground a few miles away. The impact was so big that it shook the entire city. When the group looked up, they all gasped in shock and horror.
The thing that landed in Trollberg was massive in size as it towered over everything, even the walls surrounding the city felt tiny in comparison. The creature was massive in size and its skin looked like it was made out of rocks or a mountain if you think about it. It also had a big, long nose and huge, red, singular eye as it looked around the city in chaos.
The red eye was a dead giveaway as Hilda and Johanna instantly knew who this creature of massive proportions was...
"Holy crap!" Johanna swore in her shock at the massive beast. "Hilda, are you seeing what I'm seeing?"
"I am," Hilda said in surprise. "Don't tell me that's..."
Before Hilda finish her guess, David cut her off. "Wait, you guys know that thing?"
"Yes!" The two females said in unison.
"Who is this troll anyway?" Frida asked. "And why is he so BIG?!"
"That's Trundle the Mountain King!" Hilda said as she began to back away a bit in fear. "He's one the biggest trolls in the world."
"Amma, the mother of all trolls, is even BIGGER then he is! She's sleeping underneath the city." Johanna said as she too began to back away. "He tricked Hilda into freeing him from his prison. All wants is to wage war on the citizens of Trollberg in hopes of waking his mother. And if he does.."
"Then goodbye, Trollberg." Hilda finished with a shudder.
"WHAT?!" Their friends around them yelled out in unison.
The expressions on their faces told them what David, Twig, Frida, Alfur and Raven were feeling at the moment.
Frida and David were shocked at what they were hearing. A humongous troll was sleeping under their city and if it woke it would level Trollberg and everyone in it?
The two almost adults were about to think that friend's story would be completely ridiculous... if it wasn't for the fact that they lived around mystical creatures all their lives.
Alfur was shaking from the nervousness he was feeling.
Raven, despite being hurt badly, was sweating from his nervous nature and had to use every ounce of his willpower to not fly away the second he heard that story.
Before any of them could do anything else, the manipulative troll finally set his sight on them...
Or more specifically, Hilda.
"HILDDAAAAAA!" Trundle yelled out as he gazed down the blue haired girl. "You will pay dearly for what the Trollberg Safety Patrol did to me!"
The troll then looked towards the sky as his eye began to charge up with red mystical energy.
The alarms in the group's heads were blaring like crazy.
"Everyone, move!" Alfur screamed out as the group immediately scattered to get out of the way of the oncoming blast of magic.
Trundle looked down at the ground before he blasted it as he slowly began to incinerate the street with such destructive capabilities.
As Hilda and Frida were hiding behind one building and Alfur, Johanna and David were hiding behind a building across the street from them, they suddenly realize something important that they forgot.
"Raven!" Hilda screamed before she ran to the injured bird's location.
"HILDA!" Her mother and friends screamed.
Hilda ran in front of her injured friend with her arms out, much to Raven's concern.
"Hilda, what are you... Ah!" Raven began before he let out a groan of pain. "Doing? Run!"
"No! You're going to get hurt if I do that!" Hilda responded as she stared down the beam of magic slowly coming towards them.
"You want me, Trundle! Well, I'm right here you, manipulative, pile of crap!" She screamed out as she closed her eyes as she prepared to brace herself for the pain she was going to receive from this.
A new voice yet familiar voice broke through the wall of tension.
"Not on my watch!"
The group looked up at the sky, and saw something really strange.
A portal of pink magic had opened up in the sky and even stranger, a pink lion came out of it with a roar. The lion wasn't alone either as Steven Universe was riding on his back.
That wasn't it as Steven jumped down and in between the magical beam and the intended targets. Not wasting any time, the galactic savior used the diamond embedded in his stomach to summon a big shield in order to protect Hilda and the injured Raven.
"Stay behind me!" Steven yelled out. "I'll protect you two!"
When the magic beam made contact with Steven's shield, it made was rather strong beam for the one eyed troll. It was even managing to force Steven to a knee. He took a deep breath to focus his mind to strengthen his shield's defensive capabilities.
"Focus Steven, what you're facing is strong..." Steven said to himself as tried to get back onto his other foot.
"But..."
His gem glowed as the brightest day.
"You're...
His body glowed pink briefly before he took a deep breath to calm his nerves.
"STRONGER!"
The last word he screamed out caused him to form a massive pink bubble around himself, Hilda and Raven.
As a result of the bubble forming around the three, it caused the beam to get reflected back towards its sender.
More specifically, the giant red eye.
When the beam hit the troll's eye, it caused him to let out an incredibly loud scream of pain at its one eye was burned.
Seeing the massive troll was now distracted by the pain in his eye, Steven turned towards the two that he saved.
"Are you two alright?" Steven asked as he briefly turned his head towards them, not taking his eyes on Trundle.
"Yes, we're fine. Especially, now that you're here, whoever you are." Hilda asked as she cradled Raven's head in her arms.
Noticing this, Steven walked over to the two.
"Your friend looks pretty hurt, don't worry though I have just the thing for that." Steven said.
Before either could ask him what he meant by that, they were cut off by what he did next. Steven took his right hand and literally spat into it, grossing them out a bit.
"Gross." Hilda said with a briefly disgusted face.
"You're gonna heal me with your spit?" Raven asked Steven walked towards his injured wing.
"Yeah, I know it sounds gross and I know it is but please just roll with it." Steven said as he ran his hand over the gaping hole in the bird's wing.
Noticing the hole was a big one, Steven spat into his other hand for extra healing. It took a few minutes, but the hole in Raven's wing was completely covered in saliva.
"I don't feel anything." Raven said.
"Wait for it." Steven simply said.
Immediately after he said that, the healing spit began to do it's job as the Raven let out a scream of pain as he felt the hole in his wing began to stitch itself back together, feathers and all.
After the healing was complete, the Raven fell to his knees a bit before getting back up.
"Looks like it worked." Raven said as he flapped his now uninjured wing, now no longer feeling any pain. "Thank you, um..." He began before he didn't know who this stranger is.
"I'm Steven and you're welcome." Steven said with a kind smile before turning to Hilda. "I don't know if this is your dream self or not, but I need your help. I think someone is merging a lot of people's dreams together, so do you have time to help me figure out who is causing this?"
"Well, aside from those spirits and the giant troll, most of this is my dream Steven." Hilda said with a grateful smile. "And I would be honored to help, especially after you saved me and Raven and healed his wing."
Raven got up and said. "Can you put your bubble away?"
"Oh sure thing." Steven said as he made his bubble pop. He then heard footsteps behind him and saw Hilda's mother and her friends coming towards them, not only hugging Hilda and Raven as they glad they were safe, but also Steven too for protecting them.
"Oh thank you so much for saving my daughter and Raven, Steven!" Johanna said as she held on to him even tighter.
"Yeah, you're amazing man." David said as he patted the half Diamond on his back. "Are you some kind of hero or something?"
"Kind of, with my magic and all." Steven said nonchalantly.
Suddenly, they all heard a series of footsteps coming from behind them, causing them to turn around.
It was the army of strange, green spirits marching towards the group, not only that but Trundle was also marching towards them. pretty much with the intent of finishing them off personally.
"Oh great." David said as he got into a fighting stance.
"There's a lot of them, that's for sure." Frida pointed out as she too got into a fighting stance.
"And it looks like Trundle's going to be fighting us too." Johanna said as she too got into a fighting stance.
"We would just be wasting time if spend it fighting these guys." Steven said as he summoned his shield.
"Steven has a point, we're going to have to create an opening for Hilda and Steven to escape." Alfur said as he put up his dukes.
"Creating an opening alone is going to be a battle." Raven commented.
Seeing Steven summon his shield gave Hilda an idea.
"Wait a sec, Steven. In the dream world, you make anything you want, right?" Hilda said as she to got into a fighting stance.
"Yeah, I can't believe I almost forgot that you can do that." Steven said with a chuckle.
"Interesting." Hilda as she stared down at her hands.
The blue haired adventurer closed her eyes in to focus her mind. A few seconds later, something dropped into her hands, causing her to open her eyes.
In her hands was a sword that was chipped a bit with a yellow handle and a bit long in length with a sharp edge.
"Whoa..." Hilda said in awe.
A growl caused her to snap out of her awe at her new weapon as one of the big, green spirits lunged at her.
Her response was immediate as she instinctively slashed the ghoul with her sword, slicing it in half and watching it disappear into thin air.
"Are you okay, Hilda?" David asked he used his dream powers to summon a nun-chucks, which he used to whack a green spirit across the face.
"I'm fine." Hilda said as she sliced the head off of another spirit coming towards her. "Thanks for asking."
Using the power of the dream realm, Johanna summoned an axe, which she promptly used to block an energy blast from a long distant spirit. The result was the beam being reflect all over the battlefield, either forcing her teammates to dodge them or for the army of ghouls to get turned to dust from the blast's sheer power.
Frida, while wrestling a spirit to the ground, noticing that the more spirits they defeat, the more that just kept coming.
"How many of these things are there." Frida asked.
"I know right, they just keep coming." Alfur said as he used his crossbow to shoot arrows into a spirit's feet, pinning it where it stood.
Hearing this gave Raven an idea.
"Hey guys, I got a plan." Raven shouted over the noise of the battle.
"Let's hear it!" Frida said before immediately being tackled to the ground by an apparition.
Frida tried to break free, but the ghost was too strong for her to do so. As the spook opened its mouth, it began to charge up ghostly energy within it.
"Frida!" Hilda and David cried out in unison as they both tried to get to their friend, only to be blocked off by the sheer numbers of the ghost army.
Before the ghost could fire the beam out of it's mouth, a loud roar was heard from behind it, causing it to stop and turn around.
Lion tackled it to the ground before sinking it's teeth into the wraith's neck, causing it to vanish.
Firda got up and approached the feline cautiously. "T-Thank you Lion."
Lion purred as he bent down, gesturing the girl to get on his back.
"Oh, um, o-okay." Frida said nervously as she did what Lion wanted her to do.
Once Frida was secure, Lion took a deep breath before lose a massive and incredibly loud roar, which blew all the ghosts that were charging towards them back with such force that caused them to dissipate into thin air. That even included the ghosts that were attacking their friends as well.
Even though he was really exhausted, Lion refused to fall to his knees now.
Steven floated down to the duo as Hilda, David, Johanna, Alfur and Raven regrouped with them.
"What an amazing creature? Good job Lion!" Alfur congratulated the ferocious beast.
"I hate to interrupt this moment, but we need a plan." David said s he pointed at more ghosts heading their way.
"I've got one." Raven said, gaining everyone's attention as he turned to Hilda. "Hilda, you and Steven take Lion and find out the source of what or who is causing this." He then turned to the rest of their group. "The rest of you, get on my back, we'll hold down the fort here by creating a distraction and drawing their attention away from you."
"Got it." Steven climbed onto his feline companion's back before offering his hand. "Climb on Hilda."
Hilda nodded as she took Steven's hand and was pulled up onto Lion's back. Once she was settled, she turned to the dream versions of her mother and her friends. "Be careful you guys."
"You too Hilda." Johanna said as she was the last person to climb onto Raven's back.
With everyone on his back Raven said. "Hang on tight everyone." as he flapped his wings and took off into the sky.
"Alright, let's go Lion." Steven said to his friend.
Lion simply roared up another portal and jumped through it, taking Steven and Hilda with him.
To be continued...
I hope you guys enjoy this chapter of Dreams of Destiny." I'll see you all next time.
