As he crawled out of the vent, Evan tried to listen for any sign of where the other animatronics might be. The faint sound of pots clanging together made it pretty obvious that Chica was still in the kitchen, but he was also just barely able to make out two people talking further down the hallway—presumably Toy Freddy and Toy Bonnie. The boy let out a sigh of relief, as he figured that it was unlikely that he and Mangle would run into them on their way out of the building.

While Mangle exited the vent, Evan turned to look at the Main Area and thought to himself. He knew the animatronic would be unable to fit through the window he used to get into the restaurant, but he also knew that people would probably spot them if they tried leaving through the entrance.

"Um, Mangle? Do you know if this place has a back door or something?" Evan asked.

"The-the-the-there's one in the kitche-che-chen," she replied.

Evan blinked in surprise. He had been so focused on the open window that he had failed to notice the door. He then frowned. "But Chica's there right now."

Mangle thought for a moment and then replied, "If you hide-ide-ide-ide, I think I can lu-lu-lu-lure her out."

Evan nodded, but then an idea came to mind. "Hold on!"

He went over to the tables in the Main Area and looked for a tablecloth that wasn't stained with blood. Once he found one, he removed everything that was on the table and then pulled off the tablecloth. He then folded it so that he could more easily carry it around.

"Why di-di-di-did you do that-at-at-at?" Mangle asked with a confused look on her face.

"So that we can cover you with something once we're outside," Evan replied with a smile. "That way, no one will be able to see you."

"O-o-o-oh," Mangle replied. She then looked towards the kitchen. "You shou-shou-should go hide under one of the tab-tab-tab-tables now so I can lure out Chica-ca-ca-ca."

Evan nodded before he went over to a table that was just to the side of the kitchen door and crawled under it.

Mangle then entered the kitchen and climbed on top of one of the counters, where she watched the chicken animatronic devour handfuls of pizza toppings from the fridge.

"Chi-Chi-Chi-Chica?" Mange said to get her attention.

Chica bawked in surprise and then turned around to see who it was. When she saw that it was Mangle, she glared at the broken animatronic. "Oh, it's you." She went back to eating pizza toppings as she continued, "What, did you run out of people to maim?"

Mangle flinched upon hearing that, but then did her best to regain her composure. "I just thought-ought-ought-ought you wanted to kno-kno-kno-know that there's a mostly fresh piz-piz-piz-pizza in the manager's off-off-off-office. I figu-gu-gu-gured that—"

"Ooh!~" Chica immediately perked up and swiftly made her way out of the kitchen. "Don't mind if I do!~"

Once the chicken animatronic had left the kitchen, Evan snuck in. He smiled at Mangle. "Well, that was easy."

"Yeah, but-ut-ut-ut we have to hur-hur-hur-hurry before she finds out I lie-lie-lie-lied," Mangle replied as she climbed down the counter and crawled towards the door.

Evan followed suit, walking up to the door and unlocking it. He opened it and exited the building, then held the door open for Mangle. However, as he turned to look at her, he realized that she wasn't following him. Instead, the broken animatronic just stared at the outside world with fearful eyes.

The boy gave her a look of concern and asked, "Mangle, what's wrong?"

"I've nev-v-v-ver been outside be-be-be-before," she replied as her ears drooped. "I'm… sca-sca-sca-scared."

"It's okay, Mangle," Evan said and gave her a reassuring smile. "I won't let anything bad happen to you. I promise."

Mangle regarded him for a moment before her gaze drifted down to the ground. She lifted one of her feet and then hesitantly moved it out of the door, before carefully planting it on the concrete outside.

"See? It's okay," Evan reassured her.

Mangle proceeded to take another step, followed by another, and then another, all the while looking around at a world that was completely unfamiliar to her. Once she was fully outside, Evan let go of the door, but when she saw it slowly close itself, Mangle freaked out and tried to go back inside.

However, she was stopped in her tracks when Evan wrapped his arms around her, hugging her. "It's okay! It's okay, Mangle."

The animatronic began to calm down somewhat, but couldn't help but to let out a whimper as she watched the back door fully close.

"It's okay," Evan repeated as he kept hugging her.

It took a little while, but eventually Mangle calmed down. Though, by the way she kept anxiously looking around, it was very obvious that she was very uncomfortable with being outside.

Mangle looked down at Evan and asked, "Wha-wha-wha-what now?"

Evan broke the hug and looked at Mangle before turning his gaze to the tablecloth he was carrying. "Now I cover you with this. Can you crouch down?"

Mangle did as he asked and patiently watched Evan as he unfolded the tablecloth. As he did, he took note that only one side had the iconic confetti print on it that Freddy's was known for, whereas the other side was plain white. As such, Evan decided to cover Mangle with the tablecloth with the plain white side up. That way, no one would be able to tell that it had been taken from Freddy Fazbear's Pizza.

As it happened, having herself covered in the very familiar confetti print also helped calm Mangle's nerves. She gripped the tablecloth with one hand to keep it in place, and thankfully it was large enough to completely cover the animatronic.

"Are you doing okay, Mangle?" Evan asked, and Mangle hummed in response. He then put his hand under the tablecloth and said, "Okay, give me your hand and I'll lead you home."

Mangle did as he asked and gently grasped the boy's hand.

The good thing about living in a tiny city in the middle of Utah was that it was quite easy to avoid the more populated areas. Once they had managed to sneak out of the city center, Evan and Mangle were able to walk along a hiking trail for most of the way before they finally reached the Afton house one and a half hours later.

As they approached the house, Evan turned to Mangle and said, "Stay here. I'm gonna see where Michael is."

"Okay-kay-kay-kay," she replied and let go of his hand.

Evan then went onto the side porch and looked through the windows. Michael was nowhere to be seen.

Next, he went onto the front porch and looked through the windows there as well. Still no sign of Michael.

Evan then tried the front door, but it was locked.

Figuring that his older brother was probably out looking for him, Evan took off his backpack and pulled out his house key from it before unlocking the door.

Evan then returned to Mangle and said, "Michael's not home right now, so let's go inside."

Mangle hummed in reply as Evan gently pulled the tablecloth off of her. Now able to see, the animatronic regarded the big house with curious eyes.

"Come on," Evan said with a smile and gestured for Mangle to follow as he went up to the front door and opened it.

Mangle entered the house with some hesitancy, and as she did she surveyed the interior with curious eyes.

Evan followed behind her and closed the door. Smiling at her, he said, "Um, welcome to our house, I guess."

"I've nev-nev-nev-never been to someone's house-ouse-ouse-ouse before," Mangle replied as she crawled along the floor and took in her new surroundings.

"Want me to show you around?" Evan asked.

Mangle turned to him and nodded. "Yeah."

Evan proceeded to give Mangle a tour of the house, starting with the ground floor. He showed her the living room, the dining room, the kitchen, the bathroom, and the storage closet, all the while she looked on in wonder.

Next, Evan took Mangle upstairs and began to show her Elizabeth's room. However, the tour was cut short when they suddenly heard the front door open and slam shut.

"Evan?!" Michael called out from downstairs. "Are you here?!"

With a look of panic on his face, Evan gestured for Mangle to follow him as he got out of Elizabeth's room. "Come on! You have to hide!" He hissed as he led the animatronic down the hall to his own room. He then called out to his brother. "Yeah! I'm back!"

As Evan ushered Mangle into his room, he could hear Michael make his way upstairs.

The eight year old opened his closet and pointed inside as he turned to Mangle. "Quick! Hide in here!"

Mangle did as Evan asked, and he then hurriedly shut the closet. No sooner had he done so when Michael stormed into the room, and Evan turned to face his brother while backing away from the closet.

"What the hell is wrong with you, you ditz?!" Michael shouted angrily as he approached Evan. "Do you have any idea how much time I wasted looking for you?!"

Evan cringed under his brother's fiery gaze. "M-Michael, I'm sorry—"

"Oh, you will be," Michael interrupted with a scowl as he loomed over the eight year old.

Evan began to tremble as he looked up at his older brother, terrified of what he was going to do to him. Michael then grabbed the eight year old's ear and twisted it, causing Evan to cry out in pain.

"This is for ruining my afternoon!" Michael shouted before grabbing and twisting his little brother's other ear. "And this is for almost giving me a concussion!"

"Michael, I'm sorry!" Evan cried out as tears streamed down his cheeks. "I'm sorry! I won't do it again! I promise!"

"Just shut up and take your punishment like a man!" Michael shouted as he continued to twist Evan's ears.

Then, all of a sudden, Mangle burst out of the closet with a roar and pounced on Michael, pinning him to the ground.

Surprised and panicking, the fourteen year old tried to push her off of him, only for her to bite down in his forearm. He screamed as she crushed it between her jaws. Once Mangle let go and went in for another bite, he tried to shield himself with his other arm, only for her to bite and tear into its flesh.

Unable to use his arms to defend himself and growing weak as more and more of his blood pooled on the floor, Michael could do nothing but scream as Mangle finally went for his face. Before long, his screams died down.

It was only then that she finally noticed that Evan was yelling at her.

"Mangle, stop! Stop!" Evan cried out, looking absolutely horrified. "Stop hurting him!"

The animatronic stopped what she was doing and looked at Evan, her body now drenched in even more blood. Panic then began to set in as she looked down at the maimed form of Michael and realized what she had done. Trembling, she lowered her ears and gave Evan a look of remorse before she suddenly ran off.

"Mangle!" Evan called out after her, wanting nothing more than to go after her, but seeing the state Michael was in, he knew that he had to call for help.

The eight year old ran out of his room, down the hall, into his father's office, grabbed the phone and called 9-1-1.

"Please help! My brother's hurt!" Evan sobbed as he felt panic grip him.
