Last time on Dreams of Destiny, having split up from each other to find out where Nocturn is in Tokyo, obstacles have made themselves known such as an army of Sleepwalkers or some people that are familiar to one of our heroes or certain surprises appearing.
Having defeated the Marra, Hilda, Lincoln, Alfur, Steven, Lucy and Lion find out where the Ghost of Dreams really is.
He wasn't in Tokyo at all! He was in Trollberg, Hilda's hometown filled with both humans and mystical creatures and tons of dream energy to power the ghastly adversary up to unknown levels.
Just then, Danny contacted Lincoln's group and informed them of the situation that sleepwalkers were surrounding his group as after that, Peridot contacted them as she, Bismuth, Annie, Pony and Ed were retreating, bringing the sleepwalkers to the location of the others and the Marra are.
Can Hilda, Lincoln, Danny and the others stop Nocturn before it is too late and save their homes as well as the rest of the world from this unending nightmare? Find out now!
Fight of Dreams: Part 1!
Lucy, Lincoln, Lion, Steven, Hilda, along with Alfur rushed outside and looked around to see multiple Sleepwalkers flying all over the place as Dani, Danny and Valerie were blasting them out of the sky courtesy of Dani and Valerie blasting them and making them crumble to bits by either blasting them with the Phantom girl's powers or getting blasted by the ghost hunter's weaponry or getting frozen by Danny's ice breath which then fell to the ground and shattered into shards.
"Woah, that's a lot of sleepwalkers." Lincoln said as his eyes widened at the multitude of ghosts in the sky.
"How can we fight them all? They're going to overwhelm us eventually." Lucy said.
Suddenly, Danny flew down to the group blasting away any ghost that tried to get near either him or them as he floated next to the group.
"First time dealing with overwhelming odds like this?" He asked, forming a ghost barrier to shield both himself and the group from a barrage of Sleepwalkers who were blasting away at the forcefield.
"Yup." was the group's collective response.
Danny then glanced to the side and noticed the sword that Hilda had in her hand. "That's new."
Hilda looked a bit confused before she glanced down at her sword. "Oh, yeah, this thing just suddenly appeared in my hands during our fight with the Marra."
Danny was about to ask when Lucy answered. "Basically, like Nocturn only but they are human and only give nightmares."
As the sleepwalkers were continuing their long-range assault, some of them were getting blasted from seemingly out of nowhere. Looking to the side, they saw the Fenton RV firing their lasers at them. Not only that, but Bismuth and Ed were riding on top of it chopping, blasting and bashing away the ghosts trying to get close as Peridot was firing her weapon at them as well from atop Bismuth's shoulders.
Not only that, but Annie was riding on Pony's back alongside the RV as she fired shot after shot from her blaster.
"There's too many of them!" Annie said, not stopping blasting the sleepwalkers all around her.
Pony ran inside of the ghost barrier as Bismuth, Ed and Peridot went inside as well.
"I don't know if we can fight all of them, so anyone got a plan?" Pony said with a tone of fear.
Danny began to think as he began to look around, first at the group he was protecting, then at the barrier, then at the Fenton RV, before looking back up at the firing sleepwalkers.
Just then, the half ghost hero then spoke. "I have one."
"What is it?" Annie said, confused.
"What I mean is that all of you have to go to Trollberg and stop Nocturn."
"Trollberg?" Peridot and Bismuth asked in confusion.
"My home in a Scandinavian region." Hilda said as she looked at Lion. "Think you have energy to get us there, Lion?"
Lion let out a rather weak purr of determination as Steven looked toward Danny's direction.
"But what about you guys?" Steven asked in concern.
"We'll be fine, Steven!" Danny said, struggling to keep his barrier up as he gave a thumbs up. "I'm going to have Tucker go with you so that you can shut down Nocturn's dream machine."
Just then, Jack drove the RV into the ghost barrier before stopping it. The door opened and Tucker exited the vehicle with a PDA in his right hand and a blaster in his left one.
"Need technical assistance?" The Mayor of Amity Park asked confidently as he twirled the blaster in his hand.
Danny smiled at his best friend as he spoke. "Tucker, I need you to go to Trollberg with these guys. That's where Nocturn is."
Tucker, though confused that Nocturn was in Trollberg, nodded as he ran to the group.
"Alright, to Trollberg!" Annie said, as she got onto Lion's back, alongside, Lincoln, Lucy, Hilda and Steven as Peridot, Pony and Bismuth got inside of Lion's mane.
Tucker just got into Lion's mane as he saw that Lion's back was full.
With everyone ready, Lion roared up a portal and jumped through it, the weight on his back and in his mane decreasing his speed a bit.
Danny looked with a smile. "Good luck, you guys."
With that, he dispelled his barrier and pushed the sleepwalkers back a bit before he glared at them as his fists glowed with green energy.
"Someone called for a one-way ticket back to the Ghost Zone?" He quipped as he launched himself at the sleepwalkers with a battle cry.
In Trollberg, the various human citizens and the mystical creatures outside and inside the city had the same metal helmet that Danny, his friends, Hilda, Lincoln and the others previously had on. The emitters on top were letting out a beam of blue colored energy that was going to a mysterious place.
Outside the walled city, a pink portal manifested at the entrance as Lion came leaping out of it like a majestic animal... only to end up skidding across the ground and slammed into the wall before blacking out causing those on his back to fall off in a heap.
"Ugh, my head." Steven said as he rubbed the side of his head. "Is everyone alright?"
Lucy nodded as Lincoln helped up. Annie lazily gave a thumbs up as her eyes were rolling as Pony was trying get rid of the ringing in his ears as Peridot, Bismuth and Tucker said, "I'm fine." all at once.
As for Ed... he was stuck in a wall.
"Ed!" Steven said, as he noticed the dolt's predicament and grabbed a hold off his legs. "Hold on, I got you!"
Using his gem strength, Steven gave a yell of determination as he managed to free him from the wall.
"Thanks, Steven." Ed said in loopy manner as he then shook his head.
"Looks like we're here." Hilda said as she rubbed her head to ease the pain of having fallen on the ground. "Welcome everyone to Trollberg."
"Why is there a big wall around your place of residence?" Peridot asked.
"It's to protect the people from some of the mythical creatures that could cause harm to them." Hilda explained. "But the creatures mostly attack the city out of either self-defense or nature instinct."
"Well, we can't stop Nocturn standing around." Ed said as he pointed his blaster at the city. "Onward, to saving the world!"
"Hold your horses Ed, we need to make sure Lion is energized enough to make a portal to wherever he is." Bismuth said, before looking at Lion who looked exhausted. "Guess he isn't."
"Sorry guys, but Lion gets tired when he makes portals to faraway places. He needs to rest now." Steven said, petting Lion's head. "Get your rest buddy, we'll take it from here."
"Well, I guess were walking." Annie said before looking up as her eyes then went wide. "Uh, guys, you might want to look up at the sky."
The group then looked up and gasped in shock. There were beams of light seemingly going somewhere.
"What are those lights?" Pony asked.
"Well, I'm not an expert on lights." Tucker said as he placed a hand under his chin. "But if I had to guess, I would say that those lights are dream energy that Nocturn is consuming, and they appear to be heading to wherever he is."
"Then let's follow them." Hilda said as she began to run into the city. "C'mon, we have no time to waste!"
"Wait up Hilda!" Lincoln said as he began to run after her, the others soon following them.
Following the blue haired teen's lead (and blasting their way through multiple sleepwalkers), the team managed to make it to the source of dream energy.
It was a pillow factory, probably one of the biggest in Trollberg, with a large antenna on top of it as multiple sleepwalkers flying around it as the team hid behind some bushes in front of it.
"That is one big factory." was all Annie could say.
"That's putting it mildly." Pony said. "And there's a lot of dream energy going into the antenna at the top."
"Alright, Tucker." Steven turned to the mayor. "Since you, Danny and your friends dealt with Nocturn before. What's the plan for us to stop him?"
"Well, we need to take down the dream machine inside but there's a problem." Tucker said.
"And that would be?" Bismuth said.
"We need to hold off the sleepwalkers while someone needs to stall Nocturn from inside his dream." The mayor explained as he turned to the turn to the group. "I know that no one wants to face him in the dream realm again, but..." He paused a bit before he finished. "Can someone volunteer to hold off Nocturn in his dream?"
the group looked at each other before Steven spoke up. "I'll do it, I have that power."
"For reals?" Tucker said astonished.
"Yup, one of my gem related powers." Steven said with a smile. "But it leaves my body vulnerable so it's up to you guys to watch over my body while I make contact with Nocturn."
"Leave that to us." Ed said with a big toothy smile.
"Alright, let's save the world from this nightmare!" Hilda said before her magical sword shot her up towards the factory. "AAAAHHHHHH!"
"Hilda!" The group shouted in shock.
"Help!" The blue haired girl shouted as she drove through one sleepwalker after another, causing them to disappear in a cloud of smoke.
"I got you, Hilda!" Peridot shouted as she quickly hopped onto her trashcan lid before racing after the airborne girl.
"Come on!" Ed said as he picked up Steven before throwing him towards a bunch of sleepwalkers.
Steven pulled out his blaster and began to fire on the sleepwalkers while repeatedly apologizing for doing so.
Lucy, Tucker, Bismuth and Lincoln ran towards the factory along with Annie who was riding on Pony's back like a steed as the five of them fired shot after shot from their blasters at the ghosts.
"Get some of this, you ghastly clods!" Peridot shouted as she assisted Hilda by riding on top a trashcan lid as she was firing her blaster at the sleepwalker that were trying to bring down the airborne adventurer.
"Wow, this thing is packing a punch!" Hilda shouted as she was driven through the last sleepwalker as she regained her position in the air.
"Yes, yet it seems you don't have much control over it." Peridot said as she grabbed Hilda by the hand as she helps her get back on to the ground.
Now that all the sleepwalkers were dealt with, the team, though a bit winded, knew that the final boss was waiting for them inside the factory.
"So, this is it?" Annie asked. "Nocturn's inside the factory?"
"Looks like it." Bismuth said before she looked at the young girl and Pony as she spoke directly to them as she got down on a knee. "I know this situation is a bit much for you two, so Annie, if you and Pony want to back out of this, just know that none of us will blame either of you."
Annie and Pony looked at each other for a bit as they thought this over in their minds. They understood what the blacksmith gem was saying, this was a life-or-death situation and if the two weren't careful, either one of them could seriously hurt.
Smiling at each other, Pony turned to Bismuth. "We get your concern, Bismuth. But we want to help anyway."
"It's what heroes do." Annie said as she bumped her fist against Pony's hoof. "Our loved ones back home are counting on us, and we refuse to let them down by standing by and doing nothing."
The others with them had the same convictions. Their homes (as well as the rest of the world) were also threatened by Nocturn as well and like hell they were just going to sit back and let the dream ghost have his way.
"Anyone else want to stay outside?" Lincoln asked. No one said anything after few moments. "Me either. Now before we do this, does anyone have anything that they want to say about our plan?"
Steven thought about it for a bit before speaking up. "I do?" The group looked at him as this gained their attention. "Is confronting Nocturn in the dream world really necessary?"
This made Tucker pause for a bit as he really thought about it before answering. "Huh? Well now that you mentioned it, not really."
"So, we're just destroying the antenna then?" Pony asked.
"Looks like it." Ed said before turning back to the door and walking up to it. "Let us send these spirits with unfinished business back to the other side!"
The Ed boy then promptly kicked it open.
The inside of the factory was filled with what appeared to be a legion of Sleepwalkers guarding Nocturn or being recon. Suddenly, they heard the door getting kicked open.
"Let's do this, everyone!" Bismuth said, transforming her hands into double sided axes.
"Attaaaack!" Ed yelled as he jumped in front of the group and started firing his anti-ghost weapon at the sleepwalkers.
A few ghosts flew toward Lincoln. Noticing that he couldn't blast all of them at once, the white-haired teen kicked a barrel that was right next him and filled with oil into the air and quickly fired a bunch of anti-ghost goo to it. Due to the instability of both compounds, the barrel exploded and made the ghosts evaporate into nothingness.
Lincoln breathed a sigh of relief. It was short lived however as more flew in their place towards him.
"Great." was all he could say to express his annoyance.
"Don't get discouraged now, white hair!" Bismuth shouted as she leaped over him before stretching her arms and literally pushed the ghosts back.
Tucker and Peridot were trying to tap into the frequency of the dream machine as Pony, Annie and Ed surrounded the duo in order to defend them.
As Hilda was slicing through the sleepwalkers that were trying to put her to sleep, Steven was hopping from one mattress to another as he hurled his shield at a sleepwalker, nearly taking its arm off. But then, to his surprise, the wound healed almost instantly before the ghostly minion then grew in size a little bit.
"Guys!" The hybrid shouted. "Maybe it's just me, but I think these things are getting stronger!"
"Keep fighting, me and Peridot are almost done!" Tucker exclaimed as he typed faster on his device with the tech savvy gem trying to get into the antenna's network as well.
Lucy and Hilda regrouped with Lincoln and Bismuth who were trying to take down the sleepwalkers, but it was proving difficult due their superior growing numbers and getting stronger from regeneration.
"You guys got a plan?" Lucy said, blasting a sleepwalker that was about tackle Lincoln from behind him.
"I don't think I got one." Lincoln said, trying to come with a plan but couldn't think of one due to the intense circumstances.
Bismuth began to watch the sleepwalkers. They were all charging in a straight line. At them but not at the others.
"I got one." Bismuth said as she stuck her arms out.
Focusing her mind, the gem imbedded into the center of her chest glowed brightly as a bunch of bubbles began to form around the individual sleepwalkers before those bubbles began to disappear one by one.
As the fight was continuing, unknown to everyone, a few unknown technological devices had been placed on the edges of the room. A few seconds passed before they began to produce a beeping sound before a green and purple light shined. Like the hatch to a submarine, these strange devices opened up as two sides slid to the opposite sides before a strange smoke-like substance was expelled from it, going all over the room.
The group was breathing in the essence unknowingly as they were too preoccupied fighting the sleepwalkers. After 10 seconds, the environment in the room changed.
In a blackish void, everyone stopped fighting as their perceptions were being warped and altered due to the side effects of the chemically induced gas. A few seconds later, their worst fears were manifesting in front of them.
For Lincoln and Lucy, what they were seeing made them stop in their tracks.
For Annie and Pony, what they saw made the human embraced her pet who was also her best friend.
For Hilda, what see was seeing made her grit her teeth in anger.
For Ed, what he was seeing just gave him a big goofy smile on his face.
For Steven, the sight before him brought him to tears.
They weren't fighting sleepwalkers anymore. They were fighting their worst trauma of their respective pasts.
To be continued...
