I managed to fully write this chapter...then my save got corrupted and I had to rewrite it from scratch. Hopefully you enjoy it.
When morning came, some of the women of the Rising Sun Company entered Gerudo City. Edelgard and Lysithea decided to petition for an audience with the Chieftain themselves.
"What is your reason for petitioning for an audience with Chieftain Riju?" the guard at the entrance to the palace asked.
"We represent the Rising Sun Company," Edelgard said. "We're here to discuss the situation with Divine Beast Vah Naboris with the Chieftain."
"Rising Sun?" the guard asked. "Can you prove you're with them?"
"One of our party members is a young blond man wearing a sword that you should be able to recognize as the Master Sword," Edelgard said.
The head guard looked at one of her subordinates. "Find a depiction of the Master Sword, and compare it to the voe's sword."
About an hour later, the guard got back. "One of the voe has a sword that matches the depiction of the Master Sword."
The head guard addressed Edelgard and Lysithea. "It appears you are who you say you are. I apologize for making you wait, but with the recent Yiga activity, one can never be too careful."
"I understand," Edelgard said.
The head guard brought them to Chieftain Riju. Riju was younger than Edelgard expected, likely around the same age as her or Lysithea. She wore an ornate (and in both girls' opinion, ostentatious) golden crown, as well as several golden bracelets and bangles. Edelgard initially missed the detail (though Lysithea didn't) that she was actually sitting on a wooden booster seat placed on the throne. "Elder Teba of the Rito sent a messenger to tell me you were coming, and that you had gotten Divine Beast Vah Medoh under control."
"Yes, that's right," Edelgard said. "And Ruta and Rudania as well."
"I see," Riju stated. "Any help you can offer is appreciated. What do you wish to talk about?"
"Is there anything you can tell us about Naboris's defenses?" Lysithea asked. "The other three required us to have some help to be able to board them."
Shame crossed Riju's face. "If you had come a month ago, I could have helped you. But unfortunately, now I don't think I can."
"Why not?" Edelgard asked.
"Naboris's main defense is also its main weapon: its lightning production," Riju said. "I would have been able to use a certain artifact to shield an attacker from the lightning, but the Yiga stole it."
"What artifact?" Edelgard asked.
"It's called the Thunder Helm," Riju said. "It was made to make my family's special power easier to control, so we could train our skill with it safely. But I do not think I am skilled enough with my gift to shield against Naboris's lightning without it."
"Do you know where the Yiga took it?" Lysithea asked.
"I might," Riju admitted. "Since the Helm was stolen, I have lost five scouts in Karusa Valley. If you mean to search for the Yiga, I would start there. I would attack in force, but we suspect there may be hundreds of Yiga, and they have the advantage of familiar terrain. Sending a force big enough to take the Yiga hideout would not only cause us to take heavy losses, but also would leave Gerudo City exposed to attack from the Lizalfos."
"Understandable," Edelgard said. "We'll meet up with the rest of the Company and work out a plan to retrieve the Thunder Helm."
"Do this, and I will help you board Vah Naboris," Riju promised.
That evening, Edelgard and Lysithea relayed what Riju had told them to the rest of the Company. "Hundreds against thirty-four," Sylvain said. "Even with the Master Sword, I don't really like those odds."
"We've done well against individual assassination parties thus far, but there's a difference between that and storming their base," Ingrid agreed.
After a few moments of silent contemplation, Yuri had an idea. "Maybe we don't have to fight them all."
"I doubt they would want to negotiate," Link said.
"That's not exactly what I'm suggesting," Yuri said. He told everyone his plan.
"That just might work," Claude admitted.
"If it doesn't, we'll be surrounded and outnumbered," Felix protested. "If it doesn't go perfectly, most, if not all of us, will die."
"Well, what else is new?" Linhardt asked.
"And I think that's where we're going to stop for the night," Edelgard said. "I need to get to bed."
With that, everyone went their separate ways for the night.
I know people wanted Gerudo outfit Link, but realistically it just wasn't going to happen.
Next chapter, we get a break from Hyrule as another visitor reaches Garreg Mach!
