. . . . .
Albedo took a sidelong glance at Ken, "Do you trust me?"
"More than I trust them," Ken continued taking small steps back alongside him.
He sighed softly, "Will have to do." He transformed into Negative Humngousaur. Then he grabbed the Petrosapien (Diamondhead) covered in spikes and leather and way too much orange and chucked it at the pale, dull blue Galilean (Gravattack). He saw it land right into the Galilean's gravity field, as though the alien had caught his thrown companion. Albedo quickly picked up Ken and turned around as the dark green Methanosian launched fire at them.
Ken gasped, shielding his face and head with his arms.
'Update and analysis complete. Ultimate Transformations available.'
'What?' Albedo thought as he pounded at the hard substance that had covered all the windows in the room with his free fist. The Thep Khufan's bandages wrap around his tail. Ken shivered against his frame. 'How?' He winced as vines wrapped tightly around his neck. 'Later.' Ken reached up, tugging at the vines. He felt himself sliding backwards, even with his feet firmly planted on the ground.
He felt himself shift uncomfortably to Negative Ultimate Humungosaur. "Duck in front of me." He ignored Ken looking at him in awe. He partially turned around and raised one bulky arm. He shot missiles at his four assailants with abandon and a bit of glee. The way the Methanosian went flying back was a bit too satisfying.
He watched Ken follow him as he walked backwards toward their assailants, still shooting. He raised his other arm, and fired at the black panels. They cracked and shattered with ease. He ran forward, picked up Ken and crashed through the windows.
'Ten Seconds remaining.'
"Not. Good." He muttered as the two of them fell instead of landing on the ground that should have been directly below. Cloaking technology disguised the size of the building they were in. Instead of being on the first floor as he thought, they were actually on the fourth. He did his best to ignore Ken looking at him disturbed. If Ken had somehow managed to jump out the window in an escape attempt, he would have severely injured himself. Albedo switched back to Negative Humungosaur and then to Negative Big Chill. Still holding Ken, he threw himself into a dive, something at least close enough to allow him and Ken to survive falling to the hard concrete.
"Meet me three buildings ahead on this side of the street." He dropped Ken off a good five feet above the ground. People around them screamed and ran in a panic. He wasn't surprised that Ken landed with ease. He circled around to the alley between the building he was just in, and the building next to it. He painfully crashed to the ground as he unexpectedly turned back to his caged form.
He groaned softly, rolling onto his side. Despite his better judgment, he took a few precious seconds he could have used to get up and run to catch his breath. Juggernaut's dull voice spoke of numbers and the results of scans on his person pertaining to his health and injuries. Though needed, the boom of information gave him quite the headache.
He slowly pushed himself to his feet. He pressed his back against the wall of the building. He made his way out the other side of the ally from where he came, and pushed himself forward.
'Don't look around,' He repeated in his thoughts. Though he should do otherwise, just in case one of those idiot Bens had caught sight of him, if he did, he'd really notice the crowds of people surrounding him. It wouldn't go well for him if he did. So, determined, he kept his eyes forward.
He passed two more buildings, and slipped into another alley. 'Why are they stationed in such a populated area?' He thought to himself as he leaned against the wall.
"There you are."
'Recharge complete. 30 second transformations available.'
His eyes snapped open, and his heart jumped in his chest. He glared at Ken, who smiled at him. In the daylight, Ken truly looked a bit worse for wear. Ken walked over to him and leaned against the wall next to him.
"I get the feeling you know how these guys work better than me," Ken whispered.
'Not as well as you think,' he closed his eyes. "They shouldn't expect us to stay so close to where we just were. We'll be fine if we can stay out of their flight vision, at least. Shouldn't be a problem for now. They should be close to timing out."
"Timing out?"
"Like myself, they can only turn into a different form for a limited amount of time."
"Ah, got it." Ken sighed. He dropped his head as he pulled out his D3 from his pants pocket. "They didn't take it because they wanted me to leave." He shook his head.
"Just the room."
Ken looked at him.
He looked back at him with narrowed eyes, "They wanted an excuse to kill you. They had no plans on letting you leave the building."
"Seems so...," Ken lowered his eyes, "I haven't had many humans who wanted to kill me."
'Juggernaut-?'
'-Scanning.'
Albedo watched Ken smile warmly.
"There you are," He murmured. "My disappearance must have driven you up the wall. I'll make it up to you." He returned his D3 to his pocket and quickly rushed past Albedo.
Albedo sharply turned around. Just in time to watch Ken roundhouse kick a Ben Tennyson wearing way too much orange in the head. The boy collapsed, unconscious. Ken caught the boy before he fell to the floor. He dragged him forward, towards them.
'D-Terminal detected.'
"Search him" Albedo ordered as he took a few steps back from the male. 'I did not even hear him...'
Ken looked at him for a moment, before going through the male's pockets thoroughly.
"Don't touch the device on his wrist. This one seems extreme enough that he probably set it to explode if anyone but him tries to remove it."
"Okay..." Ken pulled out his D-Terminal from one of the lower pockets on the male's pants leg. He sighed heavily, "At least I found it. What's with this watch thing anyway?"
"Knowing about it wouldn't help you, Kevin. It's too advanced a technology for you to comprehend." Albedo replied simply. He kept his eyes locked on the male.
Ken gave him an odd look.
Albedo raised his eyebrows at him.
Ken shook his head. He stood and opened up his D-Terminal. He gave it a quick check over as he walked away from the fallen Ben Tennyson. "I feel like I should give this a scan of some kind before I use it, but it looks like we're going to need to get moving. They'll be wondering where their friend went."
Albedo snorted, "I doubt they're companions. Not everyone is like your happy group of friends." He started walking past the two males, to the street the alternate Tennyson entered from. He ignored the feeling of Ken's eyes on him.
He only turned around when Juggernaut told him that Ken was falling behind. He watched Ken sweet talk some civilian he probably only just learned the name of. Said civilian foolishly gave up her cell phone. As he watched Ken send a few text messages, a part of him imagined the civilian looking at him with hearts in her eyes. The other part hoped Ken was smart enough to tell whoever he was texting to not text said number back. He also hoped Ken deleted the message chain at the least.
Ken handed the woman back her cell phone and bowed, managing to look important and well put together even with the full beard on his face, unkempt hair and disheveled clothes.
It reminded Albedo of his own time spent homeless, before his Jenrya took him home. It was easily the silliest thing Albedo had seen a person do, but he was grateful for it just the same. He lowered his eyes, wondering where Jenrya was now. He hoped he was safe.
Ken finished closing the distance between them and started speaking. "Things should get a good bit easier now."
"Overconfidence doesn't suit you," he spoke in a droll voice.
"Hence the use of the word 'should'. Let's get going. I don't want anyone innocent involved."
As he followed Ken down the street, Albedo refrained from telling him that there wasn't a human on any planet that was innocent.
He watched Ken talk to a very well off male. Watched the male blush and hand over the black hat in his hands, even as the male's female lover walked right over to them. Ken didn't even flinch at the woman's glare. It reminded him of his Jenrya when he was angry. He watched Ken bow once more, casually return to him, and slap said hat over his stark white hair. Ken turned, waved to the couple and then had the gall to face him with the world's most innocent smile. Albedo couldn't help but wonder what version of the Digimon Adventure universe he was sent to. All the while, people walked by, unaware, willingly or unwillingly, of their surroundings. A news truck or two zoomed by down the street.
"Shall we?"
Albedo nodded numbly. He followed the taller male through alleys and down busy sidewalks. As they looked around, he recognized some of his surroundings, yet still felt lost. He zipped up his jacket, and pulled on his shirt sleeves. Ken seemed to know where he was going. He somehow managed to convince himself that wrapping his arms around himself wasn't a good idea, despite how much he desired to.
'Ben Tennyson detected.' Juggernaut spoke to him as he and Ken crossed the street via a crosswalk.
He looked up, and grabbed a loose hold on the back of Ken's shirt. Ken slowed down ever so slightly. He watched Ken look around in a manner so subtle that if Albedo hadn't been around long enough to watch more experienced plumbers do so, he wouldn't have caught that Ken was even doing so.
"Black haired one is on the street across from us." Somehow, he heard Ken speak over the loud people surrounding them. "He's got the most experience being in a city."
Albedo shifted to walking on Ken's left. That way this Ben would see Ken first, instead of being immediately tipped off by the 10 on Albedo's jacket. "And the others?"
"The hipster seems to dislike crowded places. He'll most likely be hiding with the undead convention goer. If he could, which I don't doubt, when he gets up, the orange one might just start shouting from the buildings thinking everyone is his peons or something."
Ken shuddered in his grasp. Albedo wished he had glasses to at least cover his eyes. So far, no one seemed to comment on them, just look.
Ken dragged him into another alley. They crossed through the other side and onto the other side of the street. Already, behind them there were news crews and police surveying the damage much further down the area, partially blocking off traffic.
"They're not going to be pleased with all the attention on their hideout." Albedo spoke, as he took another look behind them.
'Ben Tennyson detected.'
Ken grabbed his arm. He turned and looked ahead of him. The one Ken described as a hipster looked at them, bored, hands stuffed in the pocket of his hoodie.
"Crashing out the window like that-very lame." He sighed. "Putting up that shielding took forever."
Albedo raised an eyebrow. Level two shielding took forever to activate? Were they lazy or stupid? Ken disappeared out of his peripheral vision. Shortly after Zombie Ben groaned in pain. Ken apologized, sounding overly polite.
"You're the one who took out Ben? Lame." Emo Ben rolled his eyes as Ken returned to his side.
"You're not going to let us pass are you?" Ken smiled sweetly at him.
Emo Ben flushed. A snarl escaped his lips. "No," He spat, activating his Omnitrix.
"I think he likes me," Ken quipped in a singsong voice as he stepped behind Albedo.
"There's something wrong with you, Kevin." Albedo looked at the gray clothed Incursean (Bullfrag, Nega Ben) standing before him. Both he and Ken jumped to the side, dodging his tongue.
Albedo pushed Ken forward. He turned around, and threw a blast of blu-ish purple energy at the Incursean. Around them, people screamed, and fled in a panic. "Too many people," He muttered as the Incursean dodged. "Just as reckless as him." He spat.
The Incursean landed on the side of a building. Albedo performed a few cartwheels dodging the frog alien's sweeping tongue. Ken whistled, impressed once again. He waved a hand, throwing another energy ball at the alien.
'78 percent energy remaining.'
'How the hell does she do this!?' Albedo snarled in his head. He froze, hearing Ken shout.
'Galilean detected.'
"You done? You should be." The Incursean spoke from his perch on the side of the building. He shifted his glasses just enough to make Albedo growl low in his throat.
He looked at the Galilean (Gravattack) off to the side. Ken floated, mostly frozen, caught in it's gravitational field.
"So, a while ago, I discovered you can catch people up with this guy. If you make 'em go fast enough, they sorta go boom."
Albedo could just imagine the look on Ken's face as the alien spoke. "It's more of 'getting torn to shreds' if anything."
"Close enough." The Galilean waved one of it's large hands. "Either way, they scream and bitch for a bit, go sickeningly silent and then blood goes everywhere. It's frickin' sweet. I wanna see him go boom, but can't say that you do, huh?"
Albedo refrained from rolling his eyes. "I saw where you were going with this ages ago."
The Galilean groaned in annoyance. "I hate when me and someone else are on the same page."
"Yes, yes, not enough drama, death and destruction for you. I wouldn't want to hit you in case I hit Ken, or easily cause you enough damage to make you implode. I get it." Albedo rolled his eyes. Juggernaut informed him quite a few cameras, cell phones or otherwise, were aimed at their person. Juggernaut also informed him that it was also detecting quite a few digivices.
The Incursean jumped from the wall and landed gracefully on the ground.
'Henry Wong detected.'
Albedo closed his eyes, taking a deep breath as he held in the urge to smile a worried smile. He heard the familiar sound of an alien transformation taking place.
'Thep Khufan (Snare-oh) detected.'
Albedo turned around. 'He's up already? This one heals quickly.' He looked at the lavender colored alien. 'How unusual.' Lavender bandages flew towards him. He put up his arms ever so slightly to shield himself, but found he hadn't needed to. The bandages, now covered in an odd golden energy, split apart to circle around him. They smacked right into the Galilean's field.
"What?" He murmured to himself. The Thep Khufan's bandages continued flying forward, as more and more of him got sucked up into his companions gravity field. He turned and watched the alien float next to Ken. Zombie Ben growled confused and annoyed as the golden aura faded.
"Now you just pissed me off." The Galilean growled out.
"You could do that spinny thingy, but wouldn't that kill your friend too?"
Albedo and the Incursean turned towards the owner of the new voice. Albedo's jaw dropped, despite how he should have expected this person to be on this world as well.
The auburn haired male sat indian style on a black and yellow digimon he quickly identified as Raidramon. He wore a simple blue tank top outlined in white and a pair of jeans. A set of familiar blue goggles hung casually around his neck.
"So, remember when you first grabbed me, and I said that you were going to piss off the wrong person, and you said 'Good? I'm itching for a fight.'?" Despite how calm and soft it sounded, Albedo easily heard the grin in Ken's voice.
"You gotta learn the rules, dudes. If you wanna kidnap my friend, you gotta go through Wormmon," Davis pointed to the small green worm-like Digimon sitting on his lap, "and then you gotta go through me. You skipped me entirely. What's wrong with you?"
Albedo thought Davis Motamiya sounded just as confident and full of himself as he was in the show. 'So, this is who he contacted.'
Davis pointed to the Incursean, "You could move," he quickly pointed to something behind Albedo, "And so could you, but you might wanna look around first. Like, really good."
Albedo looked around just as the other Ben's did. Albedo counted at least 10 other Digidestined aside from Davis, and their champion form Digimon surrounding them.
"Dammit!"
Albedo smirked at the cursing Australian accent.
"Seriously, who kidnaps someone as awesome and important as Ken and doesn't at least move from the area the kidnapped lives in?"Davis continued taunting. "Even I'm not that dumb."
Albedo concentrated, 'Are we seriously in Tamachi?'
His Jenrya laughed affirmatively in his head.
