Goku had finally decided, after Cell's defeat, to remain in the Afterlife in the company of King Kaio, who like him had now passed away and therefore forced to remain in that place anyway. The two, given that the King's planet had exploded, had decided by mutual agreement to try to rebuild the king's house in an ancient trunk of a tree of heaven stuck in the Snake Way.
Or rather: King Kaio was intent on working, while Goku spent his time with Bubbles, King Kaio's monkey, and Gregory, a hyper-fast firefly always at the service of the King, playing chasing each other as if they were children.
After hours and hours of hard work, King Kaio could finally be satisfied with his work, as their new wooden house was now complete.
"Goku! I'm done!", The young man heard himself called by the enthusiastic voice of the ruler, who was now proudly showing him his work.
"Wow! Great job King Kaio!" exclaimed the sayan, approaching the house to admire it better, deciding to give it a little tap with his hand... sending it to a thousand pieces!
The sayan immediately stepped back from his disaster, starting to apologize: "Ehh... Excuse me I didn't mean to, I swear! It was an accident, I'm sorry!".
King Kaio for his part was too low on energy to even get angry with the young man, let alone start the job all over again.
For Goku this didn't seem to prove to be a problem, on the contrary; he finally proposed, after a moth, the idea of finally going to meet what King Kaio had described to him as the most influential and powerful figure in Heaven, that is the Great Master of the Afterlife.
Initially King Kaio didn't seem very convinced of the idea, as he honestly didn't have the slightest intention of being seen with a halo on his head, but faced with Goku's innocent insistence, he could only give in, letting the young man push him gently along the Snake Way, closely followed by Bubbles and Gregory.
...
At the same time, locked away in the filing cabinet of King Yama's offices, poor Newone stood amidst that great pile of paperwork, muttering softly to himself about how bored he was.
Since he had had that outburst with Larry, the King of the Dead had decided not to let him get away with it and to punish him by sending him to sort out all the old documents left pending, until King Kaio had presented himself before him, as any self-respecting soul should have done in order to be registered in the archives. But a month had already passed and there was no sign of King Kaio.
On the other hand, however, he should have expected it: the ruler already had a planet to live on, he didn't need to reach a possible new home in Heaven, nor to be registered as his office far exceeded that of King Yama.
Alas, I'll have to resign myself to tidying up paperwork forever, damn! , thought the young man with a gesture of annoyance, rudely slamming some folders on the desk.
He missed hunting for souls, but most of all he missed his hellish patrols where he had the opportunity to have some fun with the dead whose bodies had not yet been dematerialized.
And now that he thought about it…
The blond went to a nearby shelf, rummaging through the various documents and recovering a folder in particular concerning the maintenance of the infernal machinery.
My suspicions were well founded, he thought, looking at the various documents and dates in it. I'd better inform King Yama of this before he blames me for it too.
He closed the folder and exited the archives, making his way to the main reception hall, where King Yama, a fiend at least 10 feet tall, with orange skin, thick night-dark hair and beard, and dressed in a wisteria tuxedo, was intent as every day in deciding the fate of the poor deceased.
Newone was about to approach him, when right in front of the desk, as if appearing out of nowhere, appeared a tall young man, dressed in an orange combat suit, with disheveled black hair over which stood a golden halo, a monkey, a firefly from Heaven and...King Kaio!
The young man's heart leapt as he saw his employer and mentor again, but a shadow of disappointment and anger covered his face as he noticed that he, too, had a halo on his head. Whoever had done this insult to him would have paid dearly!
"For a thousand lightning bolts! If I remember correctly you are the young Goku! And so they killed you again huh?", King Yama's powerful voice reached Newone's ears, thus revealing the young man's name to him, "And what are you doing here King Kaio?".
"Yeah, that's something I'd like to know too", the blond, forgetting the real reason why he was there, immediately stepped forward, a rather menacing aura that enveloped him, "Who dared to take your life so violently King Kaio?".
