The next day, it was April 1st. Leni and Lori took Luke shopping.
"What are we shopping for?" Luke asked.
"Clothes." Lori says.
"Clothes for what?!" Luke grew annoyed.
"Your half-birthday and for Luan." Leni says. Luke sighed.
"Fine…" He says, still annoyed. He begrudgingly goes clothes shopping with the girls, then goes to the food court alone.
Leni and Lori could see Luke was stressed out.
"Try using your words instead of getting mad at him, Lori. Scolding him doesn't do anything." Leni says.
Realizing she could be an outcast again if she got angry at him, Lori walks up to Luke.
"Luke, do you want to talk?" Lori asked.
"Your college graduation is on my 8th grade graduation day and prom is on Luan's birthday!" Luke shouted. "You'll expect me to be there for all of that because I'm family and it's so important that I be there! You guys just think I'm less important! Less important!"
Lori was shocked by this.
"No, you're not less important. Look, I won't attend my graduation and we don't expect you to attend all of our events. Listen, from now on, you can just not be there for us sometimes, and it's okay. We know how hard it is for you, but you're most important. I mean most people talk about you, not us." Lori said.
Luke sniffed. "College graduation must be so much more important than moving up to high school…" Luke says sadly.
"No, it isn't. Really. I mean, not from your point of view. Look, everyone loves attending your parties, heck, my teachers are going to be at your party. Most of the graduating students want to be at your party." Lori says. "I'm not sure if I'll have a graduation party, anyway."
"No, no. You deserve it." Luke says. "I'll just go and celebrate with my friends. Moving up to high school just isn't important in this family!"
"Luke…" Lori says as she tries to catch up with him. "Luke, please…"
"I saw the gifts everyone got for you! I can see now that me graduating from 8th grade is no longer a big deal!" Luke sobbed.
"Luke, please, I'm sorry if I hurt your feelings…" Lori says.
At home, Luan hadn't pulled any pranks. And the minute Luke came through the door, he blew past everyone and went upstairs.
"He's planning on leaving us again, isn't he?" Lucy asked.
"Why is he mad?" Luan asked.
Lori explained. "I tried to tell him he was important, but Luke only listens to Mom and Luna and Lucy and sometimes Lincoln." She says.
Luna goes to Luke. "Luke, you're important to us. Look, we're all going to attend your 8th grade graduation." Luke sniffed.
"If you don't, I'll execute you…" he says bitterly to her. But she looks at him.
"Did something happen at the mall?" Luna asked.
"They took me shopping for my half-birthday!" Luke screamed. "I don't want to spend time with them! I want to plan Luan's death! I hate her!"
"What happened after you went shopping?" Luna asked. "You know you can talk to me."
"Lori tried to tell me I was important, but I knew it was a lie! Everyone loves Luan and Lori!" Luke screamed.
"Because prom is on Luan's birthday?" Luna asked, knowing that's why Luke felt mad.
Luke nods.
"You can still go to your prom. Nothing is going to stop you from attending. Not even our siblings." Luna says. "If they try to stop you, you tell me, and I will deal with it."
Luke hugs Luna gratefully.
Lisa was preparing for the finals. This was going to be a big show, and she wanted to be ready.
Prom day arrived a week before the finals. Luke was hissing as he stared at his reflection.
"How do I look?" Lynn asked, wearing her dress.
"You look wonderful!" Charity says. "But prom isn't until later, so you can put it away for now, sweetie."
"Okay." Lynn says and goes to do so.
Luna was checking on Luke, considering he didn't come down for breakfast. Luke had thrown his Oscar De La Renta tuxedo into a basket in his closet and was feeling mad.
"You looked so good in it." Lori says. "What's wrong?"
"Lori, Luan captured Fangs and took Garrett's wheelchair, Hops, Lola's crown, and a lot of stuff. She doesn't want Luke to go to prom." Lucy says.
Lana was sobbing.
Charity ended up catching Luan in the act. Luan dejectedly gave back the pets and the other siblings' possessions and apologized to the entire town.
"You are grounded, young lady." Charity says to Luan. "And you are not having a birthday party tonight. After I found out you broke Garrett's wheelchair, all that money you got for your birthday from your aunts and uncles and cousins? That's just enough to pay for a new wheelchair for Garrett. You are to apologize to your siblings right this minute and go to your room!"
"But-" Luan started.
"RIGHT NOW, YOUNG LADY!" Forest shouted.
She couldn't, they all split. But Charity made them stand long enough to let her apologize.
The siblings somewhat accepted it, which was good enough.
"Now, go up to your room at once. And start putting all your electronics by the door. You have lost those for 6 months." Forest says. "Do that after you cancel your gigs and dates for those next 6 months. You went too far, Luan."
Luan went to do as she was asked.
Brandy sees Luke's friends, who were huddled around Garrett as Garrett was crying.
"There, there…" Stephen says.
"It's going to be okay." Remy says.
"Wow, I go to New York and things crash?" Angry Luigi asked.
"Dude, Luan broke Garrett's wheelchair and took her other siblings' things, all because she didn't want Luke to go to prom tonight. Talk about selfish!" Oliver says.
After Luan cancelled her dates and gigs, Forest took all her electronics away. When her friends came, Forest told them there was no party tonight as Luan was majorly grounded.
Luan sat in her room, ashamed of herself.
Meanwhile, Luke came out of one of the Huntington family limos.
"Looking good!" Stephen says.
Luke then looked at Garrett, who was sitting on the grass, not wearing his suit and wheelchair-less. He cried again.
"Just go to prom without me." Garrett says. "I no longer have a suit. Or a wheelchair."
"I think Luan didn't want Garrett to go to prom." Stephen says.
Lisa and Leni came up with smiles on their faces. They made Garrett a suit and a new wheelchair. Garrett sniffed.
"What a surprise!" Garrett says.
They helped him into his new wheelchair. Garrett smiled.
"I love it!" Garrett says.
"Now let's get our party on, gentlemen!" Luke says.
They get in the limo and head off to the middle school for the prom.
With Brandy, he watched Randy get ready. He and his friends were going to the 8th grade prom and they planned to make an epic entrance.
"Let's do this, boys!" Randy says. They got in Jack's party bus.
Brandy looks down. He didn't get invited to the 8th grade prom.
At Royal Woods Middle School, there were 8th graders dressed up and going inside the school. Luke and his friends arrived and were amazed by the sight.
They make a stylish entrance and walk into the gym, stunned by the way the gym looks for prom. The "Dancing Through The Decades" theme was in full force and a lot of kids were already dancing under a disco ball as a DJ was playing all kinds of retro music. There were also tables full of snacks and a big bowl of punch.
"This is so cool…" Stephen and Beau say.
"I like this theme!" Luke and Remy say.
"What are we waiting for? Let's get this night going!" Garrett says with a grin.
The group of boys were soon dancing to the music. When the DJ began to play "Shake Your Groove Thing", they showed off their best moves. Everyone cheered as the attention was on them.
Soon, Randy and his friends entered the gym. They made a grand entrance as Jack tossed toys. The other 8th graders cheered as the prom soon continued.
Luke took a break from dancing and decided to get some snacks with his friends.
Brandy sees them having fun without him and leaves. But Luke looks at him.
"It's clear no one wants me around." Brandy sobbed.
"You know, you could join us. Just for tonight." Garrett says.
"It might be fun to have you join us." Luke says.
"I guess." Brandy says.
"Time to have more fun!" Beau says as he goes off to dance some more.
Lynn arrived with Francisco.
"What a nice prom! Shall we dance?" Francisco asked Lynn. Lynn nodded and smiled.
They dance around as Lynn smiles at Francisco. She had never smiled like this before. She was truly happy.
"And I say, 'Yes, you look wonderful tonight…' " Francisco sings to Lynn as they slow dance to "Wonderful Tonight" by Eric Clapton.
Everyone watched. Especially Luke. He just smiled, happy for Lynn. He knew Lynn deserved this moment.
Later, Brandy ate at a nearby table, alone. He watched the activity around him.
Luke was crowned Student Of The Month for April. He was practically thrilled. He and the boys took pictures at all the decade photo booths that represented decades from the 50's to the 90's, then they went to dance again.
With Luan, she was in her room, feeling sorry for what she had done to her siblings. In the end, the things she did got her grounded for 6 months and she had to pay for a brand-new wheelchair for Garrett with her birthday money because she broke his wheelchair when she took it from him.
If anything, she hadn't prevented Luke from going to the 8th grade prom. She had nearly prevented Garrett from going. That alone made her feel worse.
Soon, it was nearly over. All that was left was the crowning of the 8th grade prom prince, princess, king, and queen. Yes, at Royal Woods Middle School, there were four members of the 8th grade prom court. Winners were based on overall votes more than anything.
The DJ went on a break and the band that took the stage announced a dance-off. Luke and the guys at his table looked up at the sound of this.
"The winner of this dance-off gets $500 and dinner for four at Prime One Steakhouse!" The bandleader says.
Luke looks down, having no girl to dance with.
"There is no rule against friends being part of this." The bandleader says. Luke just looked down, feeling even worse.
Lynn feels bad as Luke walks out of the gym.
As the dance-off was happening, Luke was crying outside the gym. He felt heartbroken and sadder than before.
Lynn finds him. Luke looks up at her, sniffling.
"Luke, are you okay?" Lynn asked, concerned.
"It hurts! So bad!" Luke sobbed. "No one loves me!"
"Hey, you'll find the right girl someday." Lynn says.
"Someday will be too late…" Luke sniffed.
Luke cried even harder.
Lynn didn't know how to help him. She walked him back into the gym as the dance-off ended.
Luke's friends feel bad for him.
"Who won the dance-off?" Luke asked sadly.
"Margo and Mugman." Stephen says.
"Oh." Luke says with a sigh.
Luke was voting for the prom court with his friends.
Lynn holds Luke, feeling bad for him. Luke finishes his voting and just looks down. He then covers his face with his hands.
Brandy offered Luke some food. Luke smiled a bit and took it, eating it slowly and calmly.
Soon, Principal Ramirez appeared on stage.
"8th grade class of Royal Woods Middle School, it is now time to crown your prom court!" She says with a smile. "So, we will start with your 8th grade prom prince. And that title goes to…Remy Estevez!"
"That's me!" Remy says as he goes up on stage.
"Way to go, Remy!" Stephen says.
"Your 8th grade Prom Princess is…Lonnie Whitecastle!" Principal Ramirez says.
"Oh, my gosh!" Lonnie says, smiling.
"All right, Lonnie!" Colleen says.
"Your 8th grade prom king is…Garrett Miller!" Principal Ramirez says with a smile. "A title very well deserved!"
Luke couldn't help but smile as he helped Garrett on stage and stood with him as he was crowned.
"And now…your 8th grade prom queen is… Paula Price!" Principal Ramirez says.
Paula was stunned. Lynn smiled as she helped Paula go on stage and helped her stay steady as she was crowned.
The yearbook photographers took pictures of the prom court, then the prom court soon exited the stage, allowing the DJ to play a few more songs.
At that point, Luke just left. There was nothing left to do at the prom, so he just waited for his friends, all while feeling heartbroken. He wasn't smiling. At all.
Lynn follows him. She couldn't help but feel sorry for him. He had lost a lot over the past couple of weeks.
Luke's friends soon come out and the four of them take him to Giovanni Chang's for the post-prom dinner, eating breadsticks and chicken alfredo chow mein, all while talking about the night's festivities. Luke laughed a little and smiled a few times.
"So, how are you feeling, Luke?" Stephen asked him.
Luke sobbed. "Lonely!" He says. "No one loves Luke! Everyone hates Luke!"
Lynn tries to comfort him, but he wouldn't listen to her right now.
Brandy was heading home, knowing he was out of the friend group. "Back to being a nobody." He says.
After dinner, Luke went home in tears.
"Lynn, what did you do to Luke?" Lucy asked.
"I didn't do anything to him. Quit accusing me!" Lynn says before helping Luke up to his room.
"Who made him cry?" Lucy asked.
"NO ONE made him cry!" Lynn shouted. "He's lonely! He's been lonely since Chalice left him! I swear, you don't listen to anything!"
"I'm going to make Chalice pay." Lucy hissed. But Charity defused the situation.
"Let Luke have some space. Tonight was a lot for him." Charity says. "And if I hear of you committing revenge in any form, Lucinda, you're grounded for a month."
Lucy goes to bed.
Luke threw a tantrum as Luna and Lynn came in to calm him down and try to get him to sleep.
Lola was planning her birthday. "Hmmm, I guess I can take a break. After all, in May, my movie comes out." Lola says.
