Chapter 4: A Field Trip on Earth
One night, inside the new fortress of New Kolkular, Orion Eclipse was recharging with his sparkmate, Altair Comet when she groaned sickly and got up from her berth. Her conjunx-endura was so fast asleep that he didn't hear the sounds of her morning sickness. Altair Comet felt nauseous and she had no idea why before she went to the oil bathroom where she checked on her health. Orion Eclipse slept until he felt that the fembot he was recharging with was missing and he later woke up before he heard the sound of someone vomiting and it startled him.
"Huh?!" Orion Eclipse said in surprise.
He got off of his berth and went over to the oil bathroom where he found Altair Comet throwing up on the sink and it made Orion feel concerned for his beloved sparkmate and childhood sweetheart.
"Altair! Are you okay?!" Orion asked as he checked on Altair. When she stopped throwing up, Orion quickly helped his wife as he gave Altair a cup of Energon for her to rinse and spit on the sink before they could clean up the puke on the sink. "Here, drink this, then rinse and spit," Orion told Altair. The fembot felt scared and uncomfortable, but thankfully her husband was there to comfort her and to help clean up her mess.
"Orion." Altair said as she coughed before she told him. "I need to see a doctor." Orion Eclipse looked at Altair Comet and he gave her a look that says, 'don't worry, I'll help you', before he told her, "Don't worry, my love. I'll call for a medic to come over and check on your health. It's alright. This might only be temporary." Orion promised.
The next morning all the recruits arrived at the main hall, Strongarm had handed Prowl her redo test and got a good grade this time. They all stand in line and listened to Prowl and Kup "Recruits, you all know where we are going today?" Prowl stated as Sideswipe raised his servo and Prowl gestured Sideswipe to speak "Earth, sir" Sideswipe replied. "That's right, Sideswipe" Prowl retorted "We are going to the Space Bridge, which is at the Autobot base in Retoris. Are you all excited to go to Earth?" Prowl explained "Yes!" the recruits shouted "Then Transform and Roll Out!" he ordered as they all transformed into their vehicle modes and drove off except Rotorstorm II and Pyrostorm because their Alt. modes are a helicopter and a dragon (that looked like a Monstrous Nightmare from HTTYD) so they flew.
Jake, who is the last one in line stopped and turned his attention to Kup, who is still in his robot mode "Aren't you coming, Sergeant Kup, sir?" Jake asked "I'm staying here, there's more recruits that need to be training along and aid Magnus" Kup answered "So...Maybe, next time?" Jake stated "Next time. So get going before you lost your group!" Kup ordered "Yes, Sarge!" Jake replied as he speed up to catch up to the group.
They arrived at Retoris and entered the base, they arrived at the transportation room where the Space and Ground Bridge is as Blaster is there. "Good Morning, Prowl" Blaster greeted in a friendly tone "Good Morning, Blaster. Set the Space Bridge to Earth, the recruits and I are going to a field trip" Prowl explained "You got it" Blaster said as he set the coordinates to Earth as Prowl turned his attention to the recruits "Before, we entered the portal, I must inform you with 5 rules: one, you must scan an Earth base vehicle mode in order to blend in with the environment. Two, you must stay with a partner at all times. Three, don't go off on your own without my permission. Four, you must stay in your vehicle modes in public, the humans must not know us in our bot mode except the ones that knows our existence. Five, if you have a Beast mode, you must hide in order to not be spotted. Any questions?" Prowl explained.
Strongarm raised her servo "Yes, Strongarm?" Prowl said "Who are we gonna be partners with?" she asked "I'll answer that when we are on Earth" Prowl said as he turned around after Blaster activated the Space Bridge "Recruits, move out" Prowl ordered as they all entered the portal.
Earth...
The Space Bridge portal appeared as Prowl and the recruits exited out the portal "Earth!" Strongarm exclaimed as they are all excited to be on Earth "This planet looks so different" Sideswipe said "That's the idea, Sideswipe" Prowl said as he shows a holographic map of all different planets "Not all planets look the same. Some are organic, aquatic, or gas, I could go on, but I'll save that for another lesson" Prowl said as he deactivate his holographic map and turned towards the recruits "To answer Strongarm's question, you're partners are gonna be in pairs. So, I already made the decision on which of you guys are going to be partners with" Prowl explained as he pulled a holographic list on which recruits being partnered. "Impactra, you're with Rotorstorm. Pyrostorm, you're with Jake. Strongarm, you're with Sideswipe" Prowl said.
"Me? With him?" Strongarm exclaimed with disbelief as she pointed at Sideswipe "No offense, Prowl. I can look after myself" Sideswipe said "I know, but we're on a different planet and none of you have experience like I and the rest of the Autobots do in the Great War. It's best you need to stick with someone to watch your back, I will not risk any of you being spotted or captured by humans, especially the New Decepticons. Because, they are still at large and with Starscream as their new leader, they might be up to something bad. If you see any of the New Decepticons, run, stay out of sight, and call me" Prowl instructed.
"Yes, sir" the recruits replied as Prowl is checking up on the holographic map of Earth "When we space bridged to Earth, it's important to look up which specific place your on, because, Earth has continents, countries, states, and cities. If any of your questions involve "What's a continent? or country? or state?" will have to wait" Prowl explained "So according to my map we are in the state of Ohio in the outskirts of Crown City" Prowl explained after he checked on his map. The Autobots heard a low roar "What's that?" Impactra asked "I don't know, but that doesn't sound like an Earth bear" Prowl replied "I'll go check it out!" Sideswipe exclaimed as he ran off to the direction of the roar "Sideswipe wait!" Prowl said, but it was too late.
"Strongarm, go after him" Prowl ordered "Why? It's his problem" Strongarm stated "Yes, but it's also yours too. If he rans into a human in robot mode or a New Decepticon, we might get in trouble" Prowl explained "Come on, this is Sideswipe. I may only met him five months ago, but he wouldn't do something that stupid, right?" she stated as Prowl just looks at her and raised his optic brow "Fine, I'll go after him" Strongarm said "If I could keep up with him" she muttered as she ran off where Sideswipe went.
Somewhere at a scrapyard...
A man was driving acrane with a magnet, he has light brown hair, blue eyes, a beard, wearing a red skirt with white flowers, a white shirt under it, gray pants, black gloves and was in his forties. Music was playing and he was humming as he had the magnet to pick up a train car as he pulled it up, a young boy appeared. He is thirteen, wears a white shirt, a dark teal hoodie with a light teal stripe on the shoulders to the arms, blue jeans, dark brown hair, blue eyes, and orange shoes, and a suitcase next to him. When the man saw him, he stopped the crane and jumped down "Rusty!" he exclaimed as he is excited to see him.
"It's Russell" the boy corrected as the man wrapped his arm on Russell's shoulders and rubbed Russell's head "Come on son. You're not that grown-up," the man said as his name is Denny. "Not yet," Denny said as he picked up Russell's suitcase "Hey, we're gonna have a blast and a half while your mom's away working in..." Denny paused as he tried to remember where is Russell's mom working at "Copenhagen" Russell finished his sentence.
"You know a real city?" he stated as he turned his head towards a city that is far from the scrapyard "Like the one across the river?" he said. Denny scoffed "I never get into Crown City, I...We have everything we need right here!" Denny exclaimed as he extended his arms out as the view showed how big the scrapyard is "Except for excitement" Russell added as he is not impressed. "Ah, Rust, Russell, I still have a lot of stuff you used to love playing with," Denny said still in his happy-go-lucky attitude "Because you won't sell anything" Russell replied with an unimpressed expression.
"And check this out!" Denny said as he turned his attention to the old diner that is behind him "It's the 14th street Diner, they were going to tear it down so I had it moved here piece by piece, isn't it awesome!?" Denny exclaimed. "It's kind of weird. Like living in a scrapyard" Russell said as Denny shrugged it off "Please, Vintage Salvage Depot for the Discriminating Nostalgist" Denny said as a low roar is heard that caused the father and son to jumped, "Huh? Was that a bear?" Russell asked.
In the forest, an old spaceship crashed was there as the silence was broken by the mysterious roar "May, may, m-mayday" an orange Minicon said. He had blue optics and has wheels instead of legs. The old spaceship showed an Autobot insignia on it, meaning this old spaceship was an Autobot ship.
Somewhere in the other part of the forest, loud footsteps were heard and trees were rustling like they were been passed through by something big. Then the mysterious creature came out of the trees and was revealed to be the chompazoid, Underbite as he roared "I've been wondering for hours and still no sign of any metal" Underbite complained "But, I'll find it! I can feel it!" Underbite said as he continued his search.
At the scrapyard...
Denny and Russell were in the diner as Denny is making Russell breakfast and they were listening to the TV news as the news anchor is explaining about the news "Locals say that the sound of a bear or not, here is a recording of the mysterious roar" as the recording plays the mysterious roar that Russell and Denny heard earlier. Denny turns off the TV "Bear?" Denny stated as he turned to Russell "Exploration time" he said as he crossed his arms "You mean wander through the woods looking for that mysterious roar that probably is a bear or not" Russell said. A ding is heard "We'll have to go nature walk later that's my 9 a.m. he wants to sell a full set of life-size aluminum Billy the breakfast beaver figures" Denny exclaimed as he took off his apron and placed Russell's breakfast on the counter. It was two poached eggs and a piece of bacon that formed a smile.
"Want to help your old man close the deal?" he asked "Uh, why don't I see if I could find that mysterious roar?" Russell suggested as Denny smiled "Divide and Conquer, great plan" Denny retorted as he left the diner. Russell sighs and he turned the bacon smile to a frown one.
Back at the crash site...
The Minicon went to the command center that is still functioning "Okay" the Minicon said "Stay calm, speak clearly" he said to himself as he typed the keyboard and hoping to contact Cybertron since he has been stranded on Earth for a long time, longer than he can count "Mayday, mayday, Cybertron Control, if you can hear me this is maximum security ship Alchemor, we have crashed on an unknown planet a long time ago than I could remember. Steeljaw and his pack had been released by Starscream, the new leader of the New Decepticons as many of the containment pods were disengaged after the crash, but the one I can see still appears to be intact so I'm hoping none of the prisoners has-" the Minicon was cut off as the stasis pod in front of him opened as it was empty and the mysterious roar is heard again.
"Uh, control updating that last report, because that stasis pod in front of me is empty and that sound is one of the escaped prisoners," he said as he is hoping that any Autobots got the message and sent help.
Meanwhile...
Strongarm is wandering through the forest searching for Sideswipe "Sideswipe! Sideswipe!" she called but no luck and sighed "Where is that punk?" she muttered.
Back to Russell, he was walking through the woods as he passed a tree then walked back to it as he is familiar with the tree "Rusty and Dad were here and had a blast and a 1/2" Russell read the writing on the tree out loud. Russell sadly sighs "A long time ago" he muttered as he continued his walk as the view from behind him showed Underbite's footprints.
Back to the Minicon, he was messing with his tool calling out for help in a monotone voice "Mayday, for 342nd time...mayday...this is Fixit, caretaker Minicon for the Cybertron max security ship Alchemor, still on doo-doo" he said as he glitched "Doo-doo?" as Fixit turned around to see Strongarm as he is finally relived to see another Autobot "Duty, ma'am" Fixit corrected as he hit himself with his tool "Hoh, it's so good to finally see an Autobot after all these years, I've been stranded on this unknown planet" Fixit exclaimed "Where's your squadron?" he asked as he looked around "Slow down, Minicon, I'll contact my instructor" Strongarm said as she contacted Prowl "Prowl, sir, you need to see something or someone in my position"
Later, Prowl and the rest of the recruits arrived where Strongarm and Fixit "I'm Prowl, you already met cadet Strongarm, this recruit Pyrostorm, Rotorstorm, Impactra, and Jake" Prowl said as he introduced himself and the recruits to Fixit "I'm Fixit, sir and this is-uh- was the prison ship Alchemor" Fixit said as he gestures towards the remains of the prison ship "Bearing Cybertron's most wanted Decepticons, now I've recommended the crash site and we're missing most of our stasis cells. Several nearby have ruptured their inmates are presumably at large" Fixit explained "How many is several?" Strongarm asked, "And do you know what caused the Alchemor to crash?" Prowl added.
"Oh, a couple of hundred," Fixit said as he wheeled towards the stasis pod as they followed him "In fact, this is the only pod still in tactician-in tachometer-in tact" Fixit explained as the prisoner inside the pod began to move and tried to get as Fixit wheels away from the pod "and it's cryostasis mechanism that may be a wee bit damaged too" he added and turns to Prowl "As to answer your question what made the Alchemor crash. Starscream and the New Decepticons attacked as they released a few prisoners to join the New Decepticons then the Alchemor got pulled into Earth's orbit as Starscream and the New Decepticons along with the freed prisoners escaped back to their ship as the Alchemor crashed here and I have been stranded here ever since" Fixit explained, "Just as how long have you been stranded?" Pyrostorm asked "A few months or years" Fixit replied.
Then a beeping is heard "Fixit" Prowl said as they turned attention to the beacon as Fixit heads towards it "Right, uh-tracking system just rebooted, sir" Fixit said as he pushes the beacon the shows a holographic map and red dots that represent the escaped inmates "I can't lock onto the prisoner's locator chips, but I'm definitely getting a Cybertronian life signal odds are it's a footage-fugitive" Fixit said. "Ah, more likely it's Sideswipe," Prowl said as Strongarm quickly realized "Sideswipe! Oh scrud, I forgot about him!" Strongarm exclaimed as she quickly left the crash site to continue searching for her partner.
Prowl, Fixit, and the recruits watched Strongarm leaving to search Sideswipe "I'll go help Strongarm, you recruits stay here with Fixit" Prowl said as he goes after Strongarm to help her "Who is this Sideswipe?" Fixit asked "He's a former delinquent, he's a recruit and goes to the Autobot Academy like we do and he is our classmate" Impactra explained. "While we are waiting for Prowl and Strongarm to come back with Sideswipe. How about we get to know each other more?" Jake suggested as the rest of the recruits and Fixit agreed. "I'll start first my favorite color is red," Fixit said as they began a conversation.
Meanwhile...
Sideswipe was still walking in the forest searching for the mysterious roar as he reached towards a little canyon. He got bored and decided to have a little fun "Hello!" Sideswipe called as the canyon echoed, he enters into the canyon and calls again "Hello!" then he heard another voice "Hello" Sideswipe became curious as he heads towards the direction of the voice as he sees Russell "Aaaah!" they yelled as Sideswipe lost his footing and lands on his skid plate as Russell backs up to a rock behind him "What are you?" Russell asked, "What are you?" Sideswipe repeated.
Then they heard footsteps as they turned their attention to the noise, "What is that?" they exclaimed as Underbite roared. Sideswipe got back on his peds as Russell backs up to a rock wall "This isn't happening, nothing happens here! Nothing like this happens anywhere" Russell exclaimed as he tried to not to freak out. Sideswipe steps away as he is next to Russell "Hey" Sideswipe said as he is trying to greet the Chompazoid "Crazy meeting someone else from Cybertron way out here" he said trying to be friendly to Underbite as he noticed the Decepticon insignia on Underbite's chest "A Decepticon...that's cool" he said with a smile as he turned to Russell.
"Be ready to roll" he whispered and turned his attention back on Underbite "I'm Sideswipe and you are?" he introduced himself to distract the chompazoid so Russell could run to safety "Underbite...heard of me?" he asked Sideswipe remained silent as he shrugged his shoulders "You ever heard of Nuon City?" Underbite asked "Noo" the confused Sideswipe replied as he gestured Russell to run "THAT'S CUZ I ATE IT!" Underbite shouted as he pounces towards Sideswipe but the young Autobot hopped over him as the Chompazoid crashed.
Russell runs away as Sideswipe activates his face mask and follows Russell. Underbites turns around and see an old RV "A little more juice never hurt anyone" Underbite said as he picked up the old RV with his jaw and tosses it as he caught it in his jaw as he eats it as his body began to glow, indicating that his energy boosts up. Underbite sighs with delight "Oh yeah" Underbite said he stand on his hind legs and kisses his muscles "Beautiful!" he shouted as he continued the chase knocking out some trees in the process.
Russell kept running and Sideswipe was behind as he leaped on every tree he could get to then he slide down from one of the trees and is on the ground "Aren't there any clearings on this stupid planet?" Sideswipe asked because the forest is too near for him to transform into his vehicle mode as he turned his attention to Russell "Follow me" Russell said as Sideswipe follows him.
They reached to the opening with Sideswipe jumping over Russell as Russell stopped and put his hands on his knees to catch his breath with Sideswipe in front of him. Sideswipe removes his face mask and Russell stands up straight "Wait, now we're out in the open, how is this better?" Russell asked. Sideswipe stands up "Now I have room to do this" Sideswipe answered as he transformed into his vehicle mode "Oh" Russell exclaimed as he is very impressed of Sideswipe's vehicle mode then Underbite came up to them as he approaches them and he noticed Sideswipe's vehicle mode.
"Yeah, transforming into a car will make a huge difference. Hello! I ate a whole city!" Underbite ranted "Get in," Sideswipe said as Russell glanced to Sideswipe "to you?" Russell replied as Sideswipe opened his window for Russell to enter inside of him. Russell quickly dives into Sideswipe as Underbite is leaping towards Sideswipe to pin him "Come here!" Underbite yelled as Sideswipe hits the gas pedal and drove away as Underbite missed. Then he turned his attention to where Sideswipe fled with Russell and continued to chase them.
Sideswipe puts a seatbelt on Russell as the boy became surprised "seatbelt?" Russell said "You're gonna need it," Sideswipe said as he speeds up and Russell yelps when Sideswipe went fast to lose Underbite.
Meanwhile...
Prowl and Strongarm were walking in the forest together to find Sideswipe. "Why do you always have to partner me up with Sideswipe all time? Yesterday, you had him take me to the streets of Kaon to show me what humility is to redo my test after I got a low grade on it. Now today, you had me to be partners with Sideswipe on this field trip" Strongarm explained "Now Sideswipe just caught a break he doesn't deserve."
"I know you're still upset with what Sideswipe did today. Your father had the same concerns as you did when I told him about Sideswipe being trained at the academy because he knows of Sideswipe's juvenile records as you did. Also, go easy Sideswipe, he's an okay kid. he just needs some guidance" Prowl explained "Well yesterday, Sideswipe told me that he and I are not so different because he's a delinquent and I'm a police cadet. He knows police codes and told me he has read a police textbook he found while motivating me into not living in society's expectations and write my own story." Strongarm explained as this made Prowl smile "That's a reason why I always had you and Sideswipe to be partners. You two may be different but not that different, you can learn from each other and each of you better people, then realized what you have in common. I had been through that with Jazz and Shadowstriker" Prowl explained as Strongarm is surprised.
"Optimus Prime's lieutenant and the vengeful female Decepticon?" Strongarm exclaimed "Yes and they're both my conjunx-enduras" Prowl replied, "So you're bisexual and polyamorous?" Strongarm retorted "Yep, there are a lot of things you don't know about me" Prowl replied. Then they heard a car horn as they turned their attention to Sideswipe as he made a hard turn as he opened his window to reveal Russell. Russell looks at Prowl and Strongarm as he is curious and surprised to see more Cybertronians. Prowl balls up his servos to fists as he puts them on his waist and he is not happy that Sideswipe exposed himself in robot mode and brought Russell here "Wonderful, we've been here less than an hour for a field trip and he's already revealed himself to a human" Prowl said as he had his hand out and gestured at Russell.
"Oh, so that's a human?" Strongarm said as she bends down to Russell's level and gently pokes Russell's forehead "Hey, Prowl, I got some good news and some bad news. The good news is I found the source of the mysterious roar and the bad news is..." Sideswipe said as he paused when he heard Underbite's footsteps "he's right behind us!" Sideswipe yelled as he quickly drove away when Underbite appeared. Prowl and Strongarm turned their attention to Underbite as they stared at him with disbelief.
Underbite mistook their disbelief for his reputation "I know what you're thinking...is that tall dark and handsome really Underbite, Devourer of Nuon City?" Underbite exclaimed as he waited for them to answer. They looked at each other then turned back to him as they pulled out their handgun blasters and shot at him "No one recognizes me!?" Underbite shouted. Prowl and Strongarm stopped firing and run away as they transformed into their vehicle modes and drove off to join Sideswipe with Underbite chasing them.
Prowl and Strongarm catches up to Sideswipe "Sideswipe! What did you say to him?" Strongarm asked as she believed that Sideswipe did something to make Underbite chase them "I didn't do anything to him, honest" Sideswipe replied as they arrived at the Alchemor crash site. Fixit and the recruits saw Prowl and Strongarm arrived back at the crash site with Sideswipe "Prowl, Strongarm, you found Sideswipe" Rotorstorm said "Sideswipe, this is Fixit. Fixit, this is Sideswipe" Rotorstorm said as she pointed to her classmate and the Minicon while introducing them.
Russell exits out of Sideswipe, as he, Strongarm, and Prowl changed into their robot mode. "Hey, you're back," Fixit said as Pyrostorm saw Russell "and you brought a human, Sideswipe," Pyrostorm said "My name is Pyrostorm and your is..." then Sideswipe interrupted "Introductions will have to wait, we have bigger problems" Sideswipe exclaimed as they heard Underbite's roar as they all turned their attention to Underbite as he arrived and Fixit went behind Russell.
Underbite was about to attack the Minicon and human until Prowl instinctively grabbed the boy and Minicon as Underbite hit the ground instead. Prowl looks at Russell "What's your kid?" Prowl asked "Russell" he answered as Prowl puts them down and pointed to the stasis pod that is in front of him "Get behind that stasis cell. Fixit stay with him!" Prowl ordered as he ran off to face Underbite as Russell turns to Fixit "What's a stasis cell?" he asked as Fixit grabbed Russell's hand and wheels towards the stasis pod and hide.
They poke out to watch the Autobots fighting Underbite as the stasis pod moved then a prisoner had stuck out its head. He's a mech, has a black helm with a pale gray face, a purplish-pink color scheme, and red optics as he heard the commotion "I hear fighting. Who's fighting? I wanna fight!" the mech exclaimed trying to get out of his stasis cell as Fixit transformed his servo into an electric prod and stunning the mech "Back in your cell, back" Fixit said. "Ow," the mech yelped as Fixit stopped when they both heard Underbite's roar and glanced at him.
Prowl and the recruits tried their best to take down Underbite, Sideswipe tried to kick Underbite, but the Chompazoid dodged it as he ended up landing on the ground nearly hitting Strongarm "Watch it! Look out!" Strongarm cried as Underbite tried to pound them, but they quickly dodged. Rotorstorm is in her helicopter mode and shooting at Underbite as Pyrostorm is in his beast mode breathing fire at Underbite. Impactra and Jake were kicking Underbite's hind legs. Underbite swatted them away as Prowl rushes towards them "Strongarm! Sideswipe! Impactra! Rotorstorm! Pyrostorm! Jake! Fan out!" Prowl ordered as tried to grab Underbite, but the Chompazoid swatted him, knocking him and Strongarm off the ground, then Rotorstorm and Pyrostorm, Impactra and Jake, then Sideswipe.
Underbite grabbed a stasis pod behind him and throw it as it was heading towards Fixit and Russell. They quickly flee as the stasis pod hits the mech's as his stasis cell rolls. Underbite turns his attention to an old stasis pod that he immediately recognizes "Ah, my old stasis pod" he said "Should give me a little boost" he suggested as he ate the remains of his stasis pod "Feel the burn!" Underbite shouted as he shoved debris next to him.
"Hey" a voice called as Underbite turned his attention to the voice, who is the mech that is still in his stasis pod while his head is still sticking out "Aren't you Underbite, the 'Con who ate that city?" he asked as Underbite approaches him "Finally!" Underbite exclaimed "What me away? The muscles?" he asked as he flexes and showed his biceps. The mech grinned as he replied "The smell" Underbite unflexes his muscles and became offended by the mech's remark as he grabbed the mech's stasis pod with his jaw and hits it to a nearby debris as he unknowingly freed the mech in the process.
Underbite stops and puts down the now empty stasis pod "How's that smell you little-" Underbite paused when he realized that the mech is not in his pod anymore "Where'd he go?" Underbite wondered as he saw the scrapyard, Underbite smiles and chuckles "Heading for hugeness" he muttered as he races and transforms into his vehicle and drove towards the scrapyard. Prowl and the recruits recovered from the impact after Underbite swatted them as Russell approaches them and Prowl turned his attention to Fixit "Fixit, I assume that was one of your escaped prisoners?" Prowl stated Fixit head towards the manifest "Fixit?" then Fixit turned to Prowl "You're half correct, sir" Fixit said as the manifest and looked up Underbite as he found it "A Chompazoid named Underbite, the more metal the Chompazoid consumes, the more powerful it becomes and..." Fixit explained as he turned to Prowl "Mind if I explain more about Underbite? After, all you are on a field trip with the recruits" Fixit stated "Of course" Prowl replied.
