Chapter 22: Battle of Kuoh Final Part
The ground shook while Kunou was engulfed by a violent golden aura, her eyes glowing with unbridled fury and power, her earlier exhaustion forgotten. She didn't even care that everyone stopped their fight and was looking at her with wide eyes, except for Kokabiel who was grinning like a madman at the prospect of fighting her.
The Devils and Xenovia were huffing and trying to regain their breath while spotting different injuries. Griselda was fine for the most part, but she too could feel exhaustion beginning to spread over her body.
"You will pay for this, you pathetic excuse of a God." Her tone was deadly cold, surprising even Heracles, although he didn't let it show.
"You dare insult me you stupid animal?!" He bellowed, his eyes crackling with electricity.
Kunou snarled at him but then turned her attention to the unmoving form of Keith whose head was resting on her lap. Her eyes softened and brushed her hand through his black hair.
"I am so sorry." She whispered, then kissed him lovingly on the forehead, the intensity of her aura increasing tenfold.
Immediately, the ground broke around her, while she glared hatefully at the God.
Kuroka fell on her knees near her now-dead lover and Kunou, caressing the cheek of the former lovingly.
"What are we going to do now?" She asked softly, her cheeks stained with tears.
"Kill him." Kunou replied cooly, keeping her glare on Heracles.
"He wouldn't have wanted that…" The cat protested weakly, but she couldn't ignore the loathing she was feeling for the former demigod. He dared rob her of her mate, her lover, her significant other!
Heracles will pay.
"I know…" Kunou murmured.
With that, the fox placed Keith's head on the ground and got up, but not before kissing him tenderly on the forehead one more time.
Kuroka took his hand in her own and sniffed.
"I hope you reached Heaven safely Kei-kun." She too placed a loving kiss on his forehead and got up.
"Oh, are you done with talking to a dead guy?" Heracles sneered.
At that moment, Kuroka's aura flared, reaching Kunou's in a matter of seconds. Her eyes became slits and her tails began to sway wildly.
"I will join you after I get bored of playing with these kids." Kokabiel said with a mad gleam in his eyes and a grin to match. He couldn't wait to fight these two Youkais!
"Yeah, yeah." Heracles dismissed him with a wave of his hand. "Now, if I knew that killing your pathetic human would make you take this seriously, I would have done it from the very beginning!" He laughed cruelly.
Bad thing to say though.
Kunou's glare hardened even more, while Kuroka gritted her teeth in anger. In a moment, the two were at his sides, Kunou with her nails turned into claws while Kuroka was having her hands coated in Senjutsu.
Sensing the danger, Heracles jumped backwards and avoided a claw thrust by Kunou and a shot of Senjutsu from Kuroka, however, before he could do anything else, a spear made of fire impaled his leg making him yell in pain, ichor staining the ground.
He rolled to avoid a pillar of flames, then he had to duck to evade a Senjutsu bullet from Kuroka.
"Enough!" The God screamed. He didn't like being on the defensive too much. He raised his club and smashed it into the ground, sending a fissure towards them which they managed to dodge.
Heracles vanished, appeared in Kunou's face, and struck with his club. The kitsune managed to grab it and hold him there until Kuroka got behind him and hit him with a Senjutsu blast, sending him tumbling to the ground.
Getting up with gritting teeth and a face full of anger, Heracles had enough.
"Alright, I am done playing." He announced as he began to crackle with electricity. In a moment, he appeared near Kuroka and punched her in the stomach with such force that blood spewed from her mouth and she went flying.
"Kuroka-chan!" Kunou screamed in worry, then she narrowed her eyes dangerously at the God.
"Come foxy, it's you and me this time." Heracles cackled. "No pests will interrupt us anymore."
As on cue, the two lunged at each other with such speed that they merely resembled two balls of power, Kunou a gold one, while Heracles was blue.
When the two first clashed, Kunou with a sword made entirely out of flames and Heracles with his club, they pushed against one another.
"You dared to take Kei-kun away from me…" Her voice was emotionless, her eyes boring into his menacingly.
"What can I say…the world is a cruel place." He grinned savagely. "The little runt wasn't strong enough to survive, so he died."
"You will pay for that!" She bared her fangs. Her fury only grew when the fucker started to laugh.
"No, I won't little girl!" He smirked. "You too will die soon. A pity really…you would have made a good plaything." He leered at her chest.
Kunou's eyes fired up with power as she pushed against Heracles, driving him backwards slowly but surely.
'What is this?!' The God couldn't believe that a mere Youkai was overpowering him! His surprise was quickly drowned by anger as he began to push back, matching Kunou's strength.
Then the two separated themselves, only to clash again at unmatching speed, waves of power resulting with each collision.
One thing was certain though, neither would stop until the other was dead.
"After I kill you, your puny pantheon will be next!" Heracles declared as he slashed a ball of fire from her with his club.
Kunou remained silent and gritted her teeth. Knowing that she needed to step up her game, she increased her speed and faster than even the God could see, she dashed at him and sliced at his waist, eliciting a painful yell from him, as well as ichor staining the ground.
The she-fox didn't stop there though and kicked the wounded man in the stomach, sending him backwards.
With a furious scream, Heracles healed himself and immediately was on her, throwing his club wilding at her, anger clouding his mind.
This offered Kunou an opening which she hastily took. With a dodge to the right, she then caught the weapon in her left hand and delivered a fire-coated punch at the God's face, making him stagger.
With a mixed roar of both pain and anger, Heracles called upon his powers of lightning and shot a massive electrical bolt at her.
Seeing the imminent danger, Kunou covered herself in a barrier which managed to hold on for a little while, until Heracles increased his input.
The fox's barrier began to crack and soon enough it shattered, making her widen her eyes, and then be thrown away by the powerful blast.
With a painful grunt, she got up and willed herself to heal the wounds she sustained. Taking a deep breath, she began to glow brightly and in an instant, she transformed into her giant fox form, growling menacingly at the God.
"Ohoho, now we're talking!" Heracles grinned. "Rond two looks more promising already!" He snapped his neck and took a stance, however before they could move, a powerful blast of Senjutsu hit him.
"Don't forget about me, you troglodyte." Kuroka sneered while walking to Kunou.
"Are you ok?" The giant fox asked telepathically.
"Yeah." Kuroka kept her glare on the God.
"You again." Heracles tsked. "Very well then, let the fun continue!"
And with that, the two Youkais and the God lashed at each other with the intention to kill.
Deep, deep, in a place he had never seen before, Keith was looking around curiously. He knew he was dead, there was no mistaking it, nor did he have any delusions that he'd survive Heracles' lightning spear.
The name made him frown in displeasure. In the past, that name symbolised power, courage and bravery.
Now, however, he could see how far the hero had fallen.
His face then contorted into a sorrowful one.
He was dead…gone…destined to be lost in oblivion. He gulped hard, thinking at the grief and sadness Kunou and Kuroka were feeling right now, and it was his fault.
Did he regret saving Kunou? That's an easy no, he'd do it again if he needed to, the same for Kuroka.
However, he didn't like the idea of hurting them, at all, but there was nothing he could do about it now.
So he continued to roam this dark, ominous place until a spear popped up into existence.
Not any spear mind you, but THE spear.
The True Longinus itself was now floating magically above the ground.
"What…?" He cringed backwards slightly at the unexpected manifestation of the Longinus.
His confusion only grew when he tried to grab it but his hand went through it as if it was made out of dust or was a simple projection. The spear then started flying away slowly, only stopping to see if its current wielder was following it.
Keith seeing this, took a deep breath and did as the spear wanted.
The two continued to walk for a few minutes, maybe hours…days? The human wouldn't know since he wasn't sure how time passed in here compared to the world of the living. He knew that he barely died, and while he appeared calm on the outside, he was totally freaking out on the inside.
He expected to wake up in Heaven or…Hell…not whatever this place was! He made peace with the fact that one day he might die, either by old age or in a fight, ever since he entered this crazy world of the supernatural.
Although he didn't expect to die this soon.
He followed the spear in absolute silence, the faces of Kuroka and Kunou not leaving his mind, making him feel guilty. While he didn't regret dying, he felt guilty because he was hurting them immensely by not being there right now. His guilt quickly turned into worry because his two girlfriends were probably fighting Heracles right at that moment, and now he was powerless to do anything about it.
He was interrupted from his musings when the spear suddenly stopped.
"Huh?" Keith looked around only to see the same dark void, but this time, there was a small white orb in front of him.
"What is this…?" He scrutinized the orb until the Longinus levitated closer to it and tilted itself.
"You…want me to touch it?" Keith couldn't believe that he was currently talking to an inanimate object.
Seeing the spear tilt itself again, he understood that as a 'yes'.
The young man moved his eyes between the orb and the spear for a little while, but ultimately sighed and did as he was told. He was dead already, what else could he possibly lose?
However, as soon as he touched the orb, he had to shield his eyes as a powerful light engulfed the whole void, making him stagger backwards.
The intensity of the light was baffling, but to his surprise, he wasn't hurt or anything, quite on the contrary, the light was warm and comforting, making him want to bask in it for eternity.
Fortunately, or not, the light began to reduce as the void was no longer. When he looked around, Keith was surprised to see himself in a white space, as pure as an Angel's feather, the warm radiance of the place hugging him tenderly.
"What is this place?" He asked no one in particular, his eyes wide as dinner plates.
"Welcome Keith Nakamura." As on cue, a voice boomed. "I am more than pleased to finally meet you."
He jumped slightly at the volume, as he turned, only for his mind to shut down when he saw a big ball of pure light floating endlessly.
Gulping thickly, he opened his mouth to say anything, but he found himself unable to. The sheer power which the ball emanated was beyond anything he ever felt. It was close to what he sensed when he met Odin, Amaterasu and the other Gods, but this one was…purer, warmer and overall pleasant.
"W-Who a-are you?" He cursed himself for stuttering, but couldn't help it.
"I believe you already know who I am, young one." For some reason, he could feel the person smiling, even though he didn't have a physical form.
Widening his eyes for the nth time ever since he arrived in this place, Keith quickly bowed low. Of course, it all made sense…somewhat…the True Longinus was the first ever Longinus created, wielded first by none other than-
"Um, uh, G-God, no, uh L-Lord G-God uh…"
The orb let out a booming laugh at that.
"Calm yourself dear one, just God is fine." The orb came closer to him and Keith could feel himself relaxing.
"I take it you want to know why you are here, correct?" At the human's nod, God continued. "That is because I was the one who brought your soul here."
Keith was gobsmacked. God, the very Creator of humankind, brought him here? But…why?
"I brought you here because I wanted to talk with you, dear child." The orb watched in amusement as Keith looked at him in surprise. "While I could read your mind, that would be an invasion of privacy, something which I wish not to do. You were simply too obvious."
"What do you want to talk with me about?" Keith asked softly.
"About True Longinus' Balance Breaker." God's tone turned grim. "None of the previous wielders managed to unlock it before…until now, until you."
Keith's breath hitched. "W-What? But…I-I don't understand…I am dead!" He was growing frantic at this point. "What use would I have of it now?"
"For the Balance Breaker to be unlocked, the wielder must have a pure soul." God explained gently. "Unlike any other Sacred Gears whose Balance Breaker can be unlocked through sheer will and power, for the True Longinus that is not enough."
"So my death…unlocked it?" Keith asked slowly.
"In some way…it was rather the nature of your death that allowed the Longinus to evolve further." Not giving the young man time to talk, God continued. "You sacrificed the most prized possession a being could have: your own life, so another could live, thus the spear saw this as the ultimate selfless act and unlocked the Balance Breaker."
"That's good and all… but it's too bad I won't be able to use it." The human said bitterly.
"Are you sure young one?" God asked, a playful tone entering his voice.
"Huh? Well yeah! I mean, I am dead, aren't I?" He looked confused at the ball of light.
"That you are…but who said I couldn't send you back hmm?" The human could feel God's amusement radiate from the ball.
"Y-You can?"
"But of course! I am God after all." He replied as if that was a valid explanation, which in some sense…it was.
"Woah…I-I don't know what to say…um…thank you, I really appreciate it." Keith said in awe.
"You are the most welcome young one." God said warmly. "Now…before you go…I will tell you one of the most kept secrets in the whole Christian pantheon, something not many people know."
Hearing the seriousness in his voice, Keith composed himself and listened intently.
"I believe you have been told about the Great War?" Receiving a nod in return, God continued. "While it is true that the original Satans died…they weren't the only ones…" God let out a sigh. "I did as well."
Keith's mind shut down completely at that news. God…died?!
"H-How?" His voice was small and unbelieving.
"I had to seal Trihexa, a very dangerous beast, away from wreaking havoc, something which left me weakened. Thus, I was killed along with the original Satans." God offered him a very brief explanation.
"I…I see." Keith looked at the ground. "T-Then, how am I talking with you right now?"
"The True Longinus holds a portion of my will, but I am not exactly alive." God said. "That will manifests itself through a forbidden move called Truth Idea, something which I hope you won't have to use anytime soon."
"Truth Idea?" Keith inquired curiously.
"It belongs exclusively to the True Longinus." It was the only thing God said.
Keith wanted to ask more but held his tongue.
"Now…I believe it is time for you to return dear one." God stated. "But before that." A gentle and warm light enveloped Keith. "There, I gave you a small blessing."
"A blessing?"
"Yes, it boosted your strength, speed and resistance."
"Thank you." Keith bowed his head in appreciation.
"You will need every help you can get young one." God said. "Now, I believe the others need you."
As on cue, Keith started to feel his consciousness leave this dimension.
"Wait! Will I be able to speak with you again?"
"I am afraid not child." God replied wistfully. "You are the first wielder I talked with Keith, something which gives me immense joy knowing that there are still souls like yours out there." The Creator continued warmly. "Always stay true to yourself Keith, never doubt your heart and never let darkness conquer you."
Before Keith could disappear completely, God spoke to him for the last time.
"And please, tell Michael and the others that I am proud of them and that I love them. Oh and be careful around Ophis!"
Kunou and Kuroka were starting to get tired from the fight with the relentless God. They both knew that they needed to finish this soon or they would be killed.
Kunou raised a massive paw and brought it down on Heracles who dodged it and shot a lightning bolt at her. Thankfully, her fur was very thick and hard to penetrate, of course, that didn't mean it didn't hurt her.
With a grunt, she jumped away while Kuroka summoned her poisonous mist around the former demigod.
"Ha, useless!" With a wave of his club, he dispelled the mist as quickly as it appeared. "I am a God you stupid girl, such tricks won't work on me anyway!"
Looking at one another, Kunou and Kuroka nodded and charged their attacks together: Kuroka willed a massive ball of Senjutsu to appear in her hands while Kunou opened her mouth and prepared to shoot out a blast of fox fire. Timing their attacks, the two released them at the same time, combining the Senjutstu ball with the cone of gold fire in a single big metallic green cone which was quickly approaching Heracles.
With a smirk, the God made to move, but was shocked when he saw his legs stuck to the ground by…grass?!
Using his godly strength, he managed to escape, but it was too late. The blast hit him straight in the chest, throwing him over the battlefield.
Kunou and Kuroka were panting slightly, the former turning back to her human form. They were wondering if the blast managed to at least incapacitate Heracles.
Unfortunately, that wasn't the case as they heard a loud and furious roar that stopped Kokabiel and the rest from fighting.
The dust dispersed to show a livid Heracles with ichor pouring down his face, scorched clothes and a gushing wound on his chest.
"You absolute whores!" He yelled, gritting his teeth with rage while being covered by a wild blue aura, his eyes turned bright gold.
"Oh, what a surprise…the mighty Heracles was hurt by some lowly Youkais?" Kokabiel said, his face showing amusement.
"Silence you wretched crow." The son of Zeus ordered, glaring harshly at the Fallen Angel who merely snorted.
Kokabiel then stretched his hand to catch a light spear from Griselda aimed at him, then crushed it like a twig. He then dodged the swords of both Yuuto and Xenovia while sporting a grin. He covered himself in light, then discharged the said light into an explosion, throwing both sword users to the ground, Yuuto more harmed than the exorcist.
"Yuuto!" Rias screamed in worry as she made her way towards him. "Asia heal him please!"
Not waiting to be told twice, the former church member sprang into action and began to heal the groaning Devil using her Sacred Gear: Twilight Healing. Thankfully, his burns weren't that serious, nor was he unconscious, so he recuperated quickly.
"To think that you still fight even though your master is dead…" Kokabiel drawled looking at the blue-haired girl, a vicious grin making its way on his face.
"What are you talking about?" Xenovia demanded.
"Kokabiel don't you dare." Griselda warned, her eyes holding worry.
"Oh…you weren't told?" Feigning a frown, the Fallen tsk-tsk-tsked. "Don't you know keeping secrets from your devoted followers is a terrible sin, my dear Angel?"
The former human flinched when Xenovia looked at her.
"What is he talking about?" The wielder of Durandal asked her guardian, narrowing her eyes.
The Angel couldn't hold her gaze as she turned her eyes on the ground, only to glare at the laughing Fallen.
"Hahaha! Oh…this is, indeed, a tragedy!" He spread his arms wide.
"What do you mean Kokabiel?" Rias demanded.
"I am sure you all know how the four original Satans have perished in the Great War, don't you?" His question didn't receive answers, nor did it need to. "However…what you don't know is that the mighty and benevolent God did too!" With that he cackled madly, shaking with anticipation at seeing their reactions.
And they didn't disappoint. Griselda looked away, tears welling up in her eyes. The Devils widened their eyes in shock, while Asia and Xenovia looked like they were going to have a mental breakdown very soon.
Dead silence, until…
"Don't fuck with me!" Issei screamed with passion. "I am not going to let you destroy this town or my friends for your stupid reasons!" He raised his fist into the air. "Besides…you are interfering with my goal of becoming the Harem King!"
And at that, everyone deadpanned at him, while Kokabiel chuckled.
"A harem…that's what the infamous Red Dragon Emperor wants?" He grinned. "Why didn't you say so? Join me boy, and you'll have the prettiest girls falling for you in no time!"
Issei's eyes immediately gained a twinkle and the corners of his mouth twitched upwards, a lecherous expression adorning on his face.
"Issei!" Rias' stern tone brought him back to earth.
"Yes ma'am!" He straightened himself.
"If you want girls that much, after we get back, I'll let you do whatever you want to me." Her words seemed to awaken something in the Pawn as his wide eyes and incredulous expression were everything to go by.
"Enough chit-chat!" Heracles bellowed and channelled a lot of concentrated lightning in his hand. "The stupid boy's idiotic dream aside, I believe it is time to end this!"
Kunou and Kuroka knew they would have to dodge it or be in a lot of trouble. Right before the lightning could hit them, however, a beam of light collided with it and rendered it null.
The two Youkais gasped loudly at the familiar light, Kunou starting to tremble while Kuroka's eyes welled up with tears.
"Who dares-" Heracles' voice died in his throat when he saw who was holding the object which stopped his mighty lightning. "I-Impossible." He was gaping like a fist which would have been a funny image if the context was different. "How in Tartarus are you even alive!?"
"Wouldn't you like to know?" Keith sneered, his grey eyes glowing with newfound power.
"K-Kei-kun?" Kunou began. "I-Is t-that you?"
"In the flesh." He grinned.
"How…" Kuroka's voice was small, like a whisper, happy tears staining her cheeks.
"I will tell you later…now, however…" He turned his attention to the fuming God. "I believe we have some unfinished business."
"Don't forget your place mortal!" Heracles glowered. "I have killed you once and I will do it again."
"Unlikely." Keith said and with unflinching resolve, he tightened his hold on the True Longinus, which began to glow with power. "With my strongest, I will defeat your strongest! Prepare yourself, Heracles, son of Zeus!"
Then he uttered two words that sent shivers down the God's spine.
"Balance Breaker!" Instantly, a bright light engulfed Keith, making those present avert their eyes at the intensity of it. Once the light died down, everyone gasped at what they saw: Keith was donned in shining blue armour with a white cross on its chest, and a long white cape with a golden outline was flowing on his back. His crotch area was covered by a blue cloth which was reaching his knees. His head was protected by a full helmet and his face was hidden behind a faceless plate, only two brilliant blue gem-like eyes could be seen. The whole armour had a divine sheen to it, giving him a royal look.
No one was more surprised than Kokabiel, Griselda and Xenovia.
"Preposterous!" The Fallen yelled. "How did you manage to unlock that spear's balance breaker?!" He was gritting his teeth so hard that one might believe they would start to break. "Nobody ever did it before!"
"You think a pretty armour will help you?!" Heracles ground his teeth. "The result will be the same, with your brains bashed by my club!" And with that, the God lunged at the human, his club sparkling with electricity.
Kunou and Kuroka tensed at the idea of letting their newly revived mate fight against the God alone, but their worry turned into shock when he met Heracles' attack without even budging.
Pushing against him, Heracles was incredulous to see Keith holding up.
"How!?" The former demigod demanded.
"That's for me to know and for you to never find out." The human said.
The two then jumped away from one another, only to clash again, Heracles sent attack after attack while Keith dodged them expertly. Dashing behind the God, Keith slashed and cut his back, eliciting a painful yell from his enemy.
With furious glowing eyes, Heracles shot a bolt of lightning at Keith which the latter destroyed with the spear. Not waiting for another attack, the young man charged the Holy Lance and threw it at Heracles who widened his eyes at the incoming object.
He used lightning to teleport and dodge it. "Ha! No matter what you do, you won't ever beat me!"
"It remains to be seen." Keith said. He dashed at the God, unleashing a flurry of thrusts, which Heracles managed to either dodge or block, but he was finally hit in the stomach with the butt of the spear. The hit was so strong that spit and ichor gushed out of his mouth.
"You…what are you, boy!? Who in the world are you?" Meanwhile, they could hear Kokabiel's incredulous voice, the Fallen just got sucker-punched by Issei, and his Sacred Gear, the Boosted Gear, evolved again.
"Oh did the big scary Fallen Angel get hit by a newbie Devil?" Heracles mocked and swiped his mouth of ichor, eliciting an annoying glare from Kokabiel.
"For such a lowly Devil to reach my face…" The Fallen began with a face-splitting grin. "Interesting! You're interesting, boy!"
Then they heard a chuckle.
"Is that so? Then your notion of 'interesting' is quite low Kokabiel." The barrier shattered and a blue light descended from the sky. When the light subsided, it revealed a person donned in white dragon armour with blue gems on his body.
"M-My body's shaking…" Issei said, his words emphasized by his body's trembling.
"The Vanishing Dragon!" Kokabiel's surprise and annoyance were masked under a mask of superiority. "Were you attracted here by the Red One? Don't get in my way-!" He roared in pain when the White Dragon Emperor flew behind him at unimaginable speed and ripped two of his wings.
"S-So fast!" Yuuto exclaimed.
"Your wings are like a filthy crow's." The White Dragon said. "Nothing like Azazel's, which are dimmer, more like everlasting darkness."
"Y-You…" Kokabiel grunted in pain.
"Holy Emperor." The Vanishing Dragon greeted. "I see you unlocked the spear's Balance Breaker, a feat unseen before." His voice held surprise and, much to Keith's amazement, respect. "I wish to fight you in the near future."
"You dare interfere Dragon?" Heracles spat.
"I do…after all…what's a God compared to a Dragon?" His words made the former demigod see red, however, before he could do anything, he raised his club to block Keith's spear.
Vali bumped into Kokabiel and took off with him in the sky, only to descend and hit the ground hard, creating a crater.
Keith tilted his head to avoid a smack from Heracles, however, he didn't have the time to dodge another attack, which managed to hit him on the side.
Thankfully, the armour eased the impact, although it broke slightly.
"Kei-kun!" Both Kunou and Kuroka screamed in worry.
"I am fine." Keith said, using the shaft of the spear to block another attack.
"It's time to end this." Heracles declared.
"You stole the words out of my mouth." The human narrowed his eyes behind the helmet. He aimed the spear at the God, channelled as much of his magical power as possible into it and shot out a huge beam of light.
Widening his eyes at the incoming attack, Heracles counterattacked with lightning, the two blasts colliding with one another.
Now, all it took to win was their sheer will.
Gritting his teeth behind the helmet, Keith poured more power into the beam, making it advance faster against the one from Heracles.
"You can do it Kei-kun!" Kunou cheered.
"Yeah, beat his ass, nya!" Kuroka joined.
That seemed to help as Keith's beam completely overcame Heracles and sent him flying into the school.
"Dude that was so cool!" Issei broke the silence.
"Sona won't be happy about that." Rias grimaced at the big hole in the school.
"Uh…sorry." Keith sheepishly rubbed the back of his head.
Their victory was short lived though.
"Y-You think you w-won?" Heracles came out of the rubble, his skin burned by the intensity of the light, his clothes torn, while ichor was staining the ground. One of his eyes was closed, most likely damaged by the light blast.
He was limping and breathing heavily.
"A-As long as I stand, you won't win!" He growled, then coughed ichor. "I will kill you all! Starting with them!" He pointed at Kunou and Kuroka.
"Divine Prison!" Keith shouted and instantly, chains of light surrounded Heracles and bound his legs and arms, holding him slightly above the ground.
"What is this?!" The God shrieked and thrashed against his confinements.
"Give up Heracles." Keith said, approaching him. "There is no way you can break out of these chains."
"Silence you insolent mortal!" The former demigod demanded, continuing to pull against the chains.
"That's enough Heracles." A new voice joined. Everyone turned and gasped when they saw a beautiful woman standing up on an electrical pole. She was dressed in hunting attire with a shirt and pants, ending the outfit with boots. Her long black hair was flowing freely behind her and her silver eyes were cold and unwavering, focusing on the bound God.
"A-Artemis…" Heracles' voice was soft, something unlikely for the loud immortal. "W-Why are you here?" He was afraid, everyone could tell.
The Goddess of the Hunt narrowed her eyes and jumped down from the pole, landing with such grace that no sound was made.
"Father is not pleased with you." She said, marching towards him. "Nor am I. You are wasting my time with your stupid stunts." With a wave of her hand, the chains came undone, something which greatly surprised Keith.
Snapping her fingers, silver chains latched around his hands.
"And I don't like having my time wasted." She finished with a harsh glare, making Heracles shiver. Waving her hand again, Heracles disappeared in a flash of silver.
The Goddess then turned to see everyone gawking at her, something which both irritated and amused her. She kept her eyes on Keith, taking great interest in the armour, however when she saw the True Longinus her eyes lost their focus and opened wide in shock.
'It couldn't be…' She thought surprised.
"Ise." Rias hissed and tugged on his ear when she saw him ogle the Goddess, who was known for her dislike of men.
"Ow!"
This disrupted her focus on Keith, something which he was thankful for. He then willed the armour to disappear along with the True Longinus, believing that the Goddess wasn't here to hurt them.
"Having Youkais, Devils and Angels in the same place…how unusual." Artemis said.
"Artemis-sama, to what do we owe the pleasure of having you here?" Rias asked politely, trying to mask her nervousness.
"I came to take that nuisance, Heracles, back." She said, regarding the Devil cooly, then turned her attention back on Keith, scrutinizing him.
At this point, both Kunou and Kuroka moved closer to him, ready to fight if they needed to.
"Who are you human?" She pointed at the grey-eyed man.
"An honour to meet you Artemis-sama." He bowed. "My name is Keith Nakamura, a human allied with the Youkai Faction."
"Hm…interesting." She said, and then lightning flashed in the sky, making her sigh. "It seems father demands a meeting." She turned back to the human. "We shall meet again, Keith Nakamura." Then the Goddess disappeared in a flash of light.
Everyone let out a breath they didn't know they were holding.
"It seems you attract powerful individuals, Holy Emperor." The Vanishing Dragon said, holding two unconscious men: Kokabiel and Freed.
"Unfortunately." Keith mumbled.
Before he could leave, the Vanishing Dragon was interrupted.
"Are you ignoring me, White One?" Issei's gauntlet spoke.
"So…you are still alive, Red One?" The wings on Vali's back spoke back.
"It is quite strange to meet again like this, isn't it?" Ddraig said.
"Perhaps…but we are still fated to fight one day."
"That we are."
"We will meet again Ddraig." The white dragon said.
"Yeah, I am sure we will, Albion." Ddraig replied.
"Oi! Who the hell are you and what is the meaning of this?!" Issei demanded. "And not to add that because of you, I cannot suck on Buchou's tits anymore!"
"To understand things, you require strength." Vali told him, ignoring the last part. "Become stronger my rival, for when the day comes, we will fight." He then left in a dazzling light that shot into the sky and took off.
Keith let out a tired sigh but was quickly tackled to the ground by Kunou and Kuroka who were holding him tightly and nuzzling in the crook of his neck while crying softly. His hands snaked behind them, hugging them warmly.
The trio stood like that for a little while, the two Youkais hugging the life out of him, as if afraid he'd die again, while he was rubbing their backs gently and whispering soothing words in their ears.
When they got up, everyone was looking at them, some indifferent while others were having sly grins on their faces.
"I want to be hugged and kissed too!" Issei whined, jealousy oozing off him. "Then have a pair of breasts on my face." He giggled perversely.
"Perverts should die." Koneko said emotionlessly and punched him.
The church duo came up to the human and the two Youkais, Griselda having a solemn expression while Xenovia a downcast one.
"Thank you for your help." The Angel bowed. "If it weren't for you…we would have lost the fight."
"It was no problem." Keith smiled.
Griselda shook her head. "You died Keith-san." She grimaced when Kunou and Kuroka's faces fell. "And for that…I am truly sorry…if I were more capable…more powerful…then maybe-"
"Stop right there." He raised a hand. "It wasn't your fault Griselda-san, so you do not need to apologize. The only ones to blame here are Heracles and Kokabiel."
With a small nod, the Angel and exorcist bid their farewells and left in a magic circle.
"Man, I am beat!" Issei exclaimed.
"You could say that again." Keith agreed.
"So you and pretty boy unlocked the Balance Breaker huh?" The boy asked, a thoughtful expression on his face.
"You will too in time Ise." Keith placed his hand on his shoulder. "Stay patient and work hard."
"Of course, I plan to!" He grinned.
Nodding at his enthusiasm, Keith turned to Kunou and Kuroka.
"I believe we deserve a good night's rest, huh?"
"That we do." Kunou smiled.
"Not only to sleep though, nya." Kuroka said mischievously, hugging Keith and squishing her breasts against his chest.
"Kuroka-chan!" Kunou exclaimed red-faced, but copying her actions.
Explanations could wait until tomorrow, right now both of them were happy to have their boyfriend back.
A/N: Oh boy…first of all I would like to deeply apologise for not updating, but the last weeks were a bit hectic so yeah…didn't really have the motivation to write, buuuut here is the last chapter in the Holy Swords arc! I hope you enjoyed it…It took me a while to actually come up with ideas for it, so I really hope it didn't disappoint! I will try my best to update at least once every two weeks or so…not too sure if I will be able to keep up with that, but we'll see. The next chapter will touch upon the peace conference and will introduce a new pantheon! Be free to guess which one in the comments, although I believe it is quite clear already :P Also, one mistake which I believe I have made was including Griselda…at first I thought it was a good idea…but as these last three chapters unfolded…I don't think she had such a major role…dunno…you tell me!
Without further ado, let's see the reviews!
JimmySG0: I am pleased to hear you liked it!
loki98065: You were correct!
Fatherofrichnight: Nope! Hades will be…well…just existing I guess lol…that's why I brought Tsukuyomi in the first place…although not sure how long this story will be.
Guest: I agree with you…but honestly that's how I would have imagined a human deal with the DXD world…it would have been a bit weird if nothing drastic happened and he'd get powerful just like that, so I hope you will enjoy this chapter!
Dante687: Not quite I am afraid, Hel couldn't revive him anyway since he isn't actually a member of the Norse pantheon.
sanjiv121606: True, I could have chosen someone else instead of Hercules, but eeehh, the idea stuck with me and I said why not, ya know?
Godofwar01: I thought about having a son of Azazel story sometime in the future, so it might as well be a possibility if nothing else comes to mind.
Sakra95: That's a very good idea, and I do think of writing a crossover between PJO and DxD but for now, I will leave this story as it is since I didn't plan it to be a crossover at all, at most just to have some elements from any other universes if any come to mind. However, your idea is quite interesting so I will definitely give it some thought in the future.
Skull Flame: Yup! Although didn't want to make Kunou too overpowered, she hence why couldn't beat Hercules 1v1 in this chapter. Rage can only get you so far.
Hapi: I started using Grammarly starting from this chapter, so hopefully the grammar/spelling mistakes won't be as many as before.
Anon: I agree with you, but honestly if I ever think of rewriting chapters or anything like that, I would rather rewrite the whole story, possibly making it better overall.
Guest: Yup! Everything's fine, sorry for the long wait. Don't worry, I will let you guys know if I will ever have to go on hiatus or leave discontinue! Hopefully not anytime soon though.
So yeah here ya have it! Again, I hope you enjoyed the chapter.
All these being said…thanks to everyone for reading, reviewing, favouring and following! You have no idea how much I appreciate it.
And one last time, I hope this chapter served well…if not then I am sorry, maybe the next ones will be better! I will definitely try to make them be.
Stay safe & sound!
