Marinette hummed softly as she gathered up her sketchpad and colored pencils. She'd made the right decision to come out into the fresh air to sketch, for the bakery was a beehive of activity with people buying and ordering their holiday cookies.
Donning her warm hat and placing her cat-face purse at her waist, Marinette started to head for home. Then she spotted Adrien, looking handsome in a green sweater and scarf, earmuffs covering his ears.
She giggled as he approached. "Love, its not that cold. Why the muffs?" Adrien grinned. "Maybe not cold to you, Princess, but without fluff around the ears, I'll be frozen for sure in no time." "Your a dork, Kitten, but I love you." "Headed home?" "Yeah, Mama will have supper soon, and I usually head home at Golden Hour." "Golden hour?" "Look," Marinette pointed.
The sun, red and crimson like a Christmas bulb, hung low and glowing in the chilly December sky. "Golden hour, before the moon appears, and the streetlamps turn on." "And the Christmas lights," Adrien said. "Ah, everything is so festive this time of year." "I hope your not thinking just about the cookies," Marinette smiled.
"No. In fact, if there is indeed a golden hour tomorrow, we could have hot coca on your balcony, watching the sunset and waiting for the lights to come on." Marinette's eyes sparkled like a Christmas star. "I'd like that very much."
Marinette blushed as Adrien cupped her cheek. "Then I'll see you tomorrow."
There was in fact a golden hour that very next night, and Marinette had the coca and a plate of cookies waiting when Adrien arrived. "You remembered that gingerbread is my very favorite! Thanks, love!"
"I was surprised when you didn't show up early to make sure none ran away," Marinette teased lightly. "Ah, but your Ladybug. With that quick wit of yours and your lucky charm, I don't think any cookies would escape." "Are you buttering me up, Agreste?" "Maybe gingering you up. These are gingerbread, after all."
"Here, sweet talker, having some coca." Marinette wrapped her hands around her warm mug, and cuddled into Adrien's side as they watched the sunset. Could it be possible it was even more beautiful then the night before?
The sky turned pink, then black, and then slowly the Christmas lights begin winking on. The traditional colors of red and green were prominent, but blues and yellows shined through the darkness.
Mama Cheng soon called for supper, and the two friends stood up. "Your staying for supper, right?" Marinette asked. "Wouldn't miss it. Thanks for inviting me to Golden Hour, Marinette."
They held hands looking out into the darkness. It wouldn't be long before Golden Hour returned.
