New found fame,
he hates it,
hates how everyone knows who he is now,
hates how his name is gracing everyone's lips,
not his full name, just his title, his surname.
He liked his anonymity,
of just being the horrible potions professor.
He liked when they avoided him,
darting to the other side of the hallway
as he walked past, his cloak billowing.
He never expected a flip side to fame.
He never expected to find her watching him
with hungry brown eyes.
"They say you cook in the nude,
that you have a secret potions lab
where clothing is forbidden," she comments.
He nearly rolls his black eyes in annoyance.
How impractical!
Is that really something those dunderheads think?
"If you do, I'd love to see it," she adds, giving him a wink
and leaving him standing in the hallway shocked.
He watches her leave, her hair bouncing.
It used to just be brown, didn't it?
Basic and boring?
Now, it's brown
gold,
copper,
the soft caramel of the candy he used to love as a child
and terra cotta, the color of the earth.
Since when did her smile send him reeling?
Both famous in their own rights,
both war heroes.
She's thrust into the spotlight again and again,
he's watching as she fights to not break
watching as she pushes away everyone
who was once hers.
Alone now,
she still smiles at him across the hall,
her hair still bouncing as she walks,
mirror the billowing of his black cloak
"I could show you a lab like that," he finally says,
knowing he can't resist her much longer.
She nods, smiling a smile that doesn't reach her eyes.
They've broken her, taken something from her,
all the rumors flying,
all the people asking who she is,
how could she be so impressive with her bloodlines?
He doesn't care as he ushers her to one of the sub-dungeons,
and shows her the love she's always deserved.
