You see it coming,
sees how Ron's been looking at her,
how she's smiling, joking with him.
Just friends, that's all, she keeps promising.
But she's said that before,
to you, and look how that changed.
Look where that ended up.
In your bedchamber
in your arms
comforting her after she'd had her
heart smashed again.
She's laughing again,
her brown eyes glancing in your direction,
there's pain there,
he's said something to hurt her.
Her sleeve slides down,
her scars visible in the candlelight.
She notices, her face darkening as Ron points them out,
saying something.
She's looking at the floor,
you can see the pain.
She's leaving her seat,
giving you a look,
one that you know well,
one that means meet me
in your bed.
You make some excuse,
leaving the staff table
leaving the conversation
to comfort her,
to let her cry against your black robes,
knowing he wants to be more than friends,
that he wants to bed her,
to take her from you.
