Assignment #9 Childcare Task 1: Infancy (0-1 years) - Write about adding a new member to the family

She screamed and they smiled,

a bright light suddenly shining in their lives,

a love that they never expected to grow,

a life that had some how managed to

over come every single obstacle put in

her path.

They, he and Hermione,

never expecting such a thing to happen.

They'd believed,

been told by many

it wasn't possible.

Too many crucios

too much scar tissue from the curse

at the ministry.

They believed it wasn't possible,

accepting their fate as

the loss of a dream

only strengthened their bond.

They were there for each other,

crying and trying to

put that dream behind them.

One little miracle,

one they dared not even

speak of in whispers.

No one knew,

not until they were sure

the bubble of hope wouldn't break,

that she would live.

The months passed,

and with their breaths held,

she grew from nothing

to something,

to someone,

until she finally made her debut into the world.

Someone who had grown, despite the odds,

a Rosebud in a sea of thorns.

Rose, was the only name that worked

the only name that fit her wide

dark eyes and darker hair,

their little Rose.

Her screams broke the silence of the night.

Her hunger, her yearning for comfort,

for love,

filled even his heart.

He'd known love,

but not like this,

there was nothing like this in the world.

A new title, one he wore with pride.

Daddy.

His Hermione was Mummy.

Titles they never expected,

titles they grew to love,

the same way their love

for their little Rose

continued to grow

as she learned to speak

a language they could understand,

as she learned to take her wobbly first steps

as she had her first bout of accidental magic,

turning her walls a shade of gold.

An expected miracle

that changed their lives,

the same way they had vowed

themselves together,

for better or worse

forever
