Time, she needed more time. The curse had spread and she knew if she didn't act soon, she'd lose him. Her tears were like pearls sliding down her cheeks, falling against his face. He coughed, blood splattering on her chest. His eyes opened. She'd never dared believe what they shared was True Love, that it could be that powerful, yet…. She'd healed him, hadn't she, with her tears. She looked at him, her brown eyes meeting his black ones. Slowly, he reached up and tucked a curl behind her ear.

"I almost lost you," she whispered. "I thought, I thought we were out of time, that I couldn't save you, that I was missing something."

"You were," he answered, his voice raspy as his wounds were still healing slowly. "You missed listening to your heart, Hermione, my Hermione, and you hesitated because you were, are, afraid of how you feel, how I feel about you. The fact your tears healed me, the fact you saved me, it proves soulmates do exist and that we are bound together by fate, whether or not you want to believe it."

"I do, I want to believe we're soulmates, Severus, that we're meant to be together, but…."

"It is too much isn't it, the fact we're destined for each other."

"What if everything I've ever done is only because of this, only because the universe thinks we are supposed to be together?"

"Then we can ignore it, not be together, our hearts will break in our chests and we can both live miserably forever?"

"No, I just need to do some research. Right now, let's get to the hospital wing and we can start seeing if what we feel is real or just fate thinking it knows better than we do," she said, helping him to his feet and starting the walk back to the castle
