The temptation was there, the thrill of sneaking out in the middle of the night when she knew everyone else was asleep. She knew he'd be asleep now as well. Well, maybe he wasn't, maybe he was awake thinking of her, or thinking of a way to poison someone. She smiled at that. She was starting to see his point of view, the way the world moved around him. She didn't think he'd actually do it, slip something in anyone's drink.
There was a temptation there though. There was a thrill there, to see what would happen if Harry suddenly started telling the truth about everything. She bit her lip. She knew there was veritaserum in the locked cabinet, knew he had the key, knew he might just let her have it if she asked. Yes, she could use that as an excuse to see him, to wake him up if he wasn't pacing his chamber brooding about something. She slid on her house slippers. The halls were deserted, the quiet was almost eerie, but she didn't stop.
She reached his door, knocked loudly and waited. She could hear him moving inside. He hadn't been asleep, she smiled at that, at least she hadn't accidentally woken him. He was always grumpy when he first woke.
The door flew open and he looked at her. She smiled at him. He shook his head in exasperation before stepping aside and letting her in. She knew he wouldn't let her potion Harry, although him declaring his love for Draco in the middle of the Great Hall would brighten everyone's day, but he did kiss her forehead, let her sit in his chair reading while he did the same on the sofa, a relationship no one knew about yet, one that still wasn't completely defined, but neither Hermione nor Severus felt it needed it.
