Chapter 12: Last Second Heroes

(Flashback)

Tyler, Kurisu, Chelsea, and Merleo headed for the other village to protect it from the Wave. Thanks to Kurisu's Riolu, they managed to arrive at the gates of the other village.

"All right. We're here." Tyler stated before returning Rapidash to her Poké Ball. "You guys know what to do, right?"

"Of course. To defend the village from the Wave and evacuate the area." Kurisu replied as she wielded her tonfas.

"I think that's very obvious, don't you think?" Chelsea said as she returned Sawsbuck to his Poké Ball before manifesting her hammer out of thin air.

"It seems we now know what must be done." Merleo stated as he readied his staff. "Let us be off, shall we?"

"Yeah!" The others said in unison before entering the village.

It was around that time that monsters started entering the village and attacking the villagers. Fortunately, Tyler and his comrades were able to protect the village from being killed and proceeded to fight off the monsters while the villagers were evacuating. Tyler summoned Hydreigon and Scrafty, Kurisu summoned Riolu and Floette, and Chelsea summoned Delphox and Altaria.

"Hydreigon, use Dragon Pulse! And Scrafty, use Crunch!" Tyler commanded his Pokémon before he readied his gun.

"Riolu, use Quick Attack! And Floette, use Moonblast!" Kurisu shouted the commands.

"Delphox, use Mystical Fire! And Altaria, Dragon Claw!"

The Pokémon proceeded to unleash their attacks at the many hordes of goblins, lizardmen, and werewolves.

Hydreigon proceeded to shoot multicolored dragon-shaped energy from all three heads that formed into a dragon and hit some of the goblins. Scrafty lunged forward with his head leaned forward before opening his mouth and created a yellow aura shaped like a set of teeth, which then bite down on a lizardman.

Riolu zipped through the area as he kept hitting some werewolves swiftly. Floette shot forward pink energy orb that killed some of the weakened goblins.

Delphox pulled out her wand stick and proceeded to swing around in a circle, forming a ring of reddish orange fire in front of her. She then released a reddish orange stream of fire surrounded by rings of fire from the tip of her wand stick at some of the monsters, killing them. Altaria put her talons up as said talons were coated in light green aura before slashing some werewolves in it, damaging them.

"As source of thy power, I order thee! Decipher the laws of nature and purge my target with a divine light! Zweit Holy!" Merleo chanted before unleashing the light spell at some of the lizardmen, damaging them greatly.

A lizardman snarled before coming towards Chelsea. Unfortunately, she saw this coming.

"Nice try! Altaria, intercept that Druddigon-thing with Cotton Guard!" She commanded.

"Got it, Chelsea!" Altaria got in between before her body glowed blue before her wings folded, causing said wings to expand and become a fluffy white ball. The attack bounced off her.

"Hrahh!" Chelsea swung her hammer towards the lizardman and managed to strike it by the head, killing instantly.

"That was pretty great, Chelsea!" Tyler stated before shooting one of the goblins that tried to attack before being finished off by Scrafty's High Jump Kick.

"I could say the same with you." Chelsea retorted before Delphox used Mystical Fire on an opportunistic goblin that tried to ambush her. "I guess that Holy Water that Merleo brought helped you."

"Yeah. I feel better now." Tyler stated before Kurisu struck down a werewolf who tried to attack him from behind.

"Less chatting, more fighting you two!" Kurisu reprimanded.

"Yeah, yeah. I heard you." Tyler stated before him and Chelsea and continued the fight.

The group has been going at it for a whole three hours and the horde of monsters doesn't seem to stop appearing and swarming over the village. Nevertheless, they were able to stand their ground and kept the monsters away from the villagers.

"You know, those three other Heroes sure took their time defeating the Wave Boss." Tyler stated before he shot a goblin dead. "I thought they would solve this shit by now."

"If I had to guess…" Chelsea began before pummeling a lizardman away from her before Altaria swooped in and finished it off with another Dragon Claw. "They are probably arguing with each other about the best way to defeat the Wave Boss? Considering this has been going on for three hours straight, I'd say they are still too stubborn to not drop their shortsighted "video game" logic and keep doing their own thing."

"That seems pretty much what's going on." Kurisu then turned towards Merleo. "Merleo, can you check the other village and see what Naofumi and the others were doing."

"Consider it done, Miss Kurisu." Merleo stated before pulling his only Poké Ball. "I require your assistance, Abra!" He threw the Poké Ball and the aforementioned Pokémon emerged. "Abra, can you use Teleport to take me to the other village?"

"… Sure thing." Abra said before he and Merleo disappeared in a flash.

"Off he goes." Tyler stated as he noticed that more monsters appeared and had them surrounded. The Pokémon were ready to defend their Trainers.

"Yo! These motherfuckers don't know when to give up, do they?" Scrafty stated.

"I don't think "give up" is part of their vocabulary." Hydreigon added.

"A tenacious bunch, I admit." Delphox began. "But if they want to get burned so badly, then who am I to say no to."

"Damn, girl! You're speakin' my language!" The Hoodlum Pokémon agreed. "Why don't we go out right after this?"

"Don't push your luck, you thug."

"Oh? Are you perhaps—" Riolu chimed in playfully before he was interrupted.

"N-No! I don't! I just had an intense rivalry with him, that's all!" Delphox furiously blushed before refuting the claims, not unlike how her Trainer reacted when a certain topic was brought up.

"Everyone! We should stay focused! Those things are still here!" Altaria told them.

"She's right! Let's save this discussion right after this Wave passes over, okay?" Hydreigon added, agreeing with his fellow Dragon type Pokémon.

When Tyler issued a move, the Brutal Pokémon then fired a Dark Pulse, which was a beam of black and purple rings of energy from each mouth at a pack of werewolves before Scrafty finished them off with a Stone Edge. Tyler, Chelsea and Kurisu charged forward and managed to take down the monsters with their well-coordinated attacks and their teamwork.

Then, Merleo appeared before them with Abra in tow.

"So, what is the situation?" Kurisu asked him.

"According to that young knight, Naofumi and his team had taken off and decided to deal with the Wave Boss himself." Merleo summarized the report. "But do not worry, the village was left in capable hands. That young knight and his squad were able to protect the villagers."

"That's good to know. But that means those three dumbasses were doing a shitty job at taking down the Wave Boss." Tyler stated.

"How long will they realize that the world they were summoned to is nothing like a game is something that I'll never know." Kurisu sighed.

"Men like that are more stubborn than a Pokémon who has the Sturdy ability." Chelsea commented. "Especially that idiot with the spear. I hope he slipped on a banana peel or got kicked in the crotch by Filo."

"You really hate Mononashi, don't you?" The former police intern asked.

"Of course, I do. He acted like a tryhard harem protagonist and everything." Chelsea replied. "Not to mention being a total simp to that bitchy princess."

"I hear you. That guy really has issues. It makes you wonder what kind of life he went through in his world." Tyler chimed in.

"Probably doing the exact same thing he does in this world." She stated before everyone went back to fighting.

They proceeded to continue their defense of the village from the monster that spawned from the blue portals in the blood red sky. They spent a half hour fighting off the horde. But then…

"Aah!" They turned to a woman and her two children being cornered by a group of goblins just before they could evacuate the village. And those goblins slowly closing in on them.

"Crap!" Tyler then turned to his partner. "Hydreigon, help them out with Tri Attack!"

"On it!" Hydreigon complied before he flew straight towards the goblins. "Hey, uglies! Pick on someone your size!"

The goblins took the bait and proceeded to shift their attention towards Hydreigon and began to lunge at him. However, the Brutal Pokémon opened the mouths on all three heads, charging an orb of energy before each of them. A light blue ice energy was fired from the left head, a stream of orange fire was fired from the middle head, and a bolt of yellow electricity was fired from the right head. All three elemental beams headed straight towards the group of goblins, damaging them greatly.

"Now to finish them off! Spread Shot!" Tyler shouted as he shot an energy bullet that split into multiple smaller bullets that struck all of the goblins, killing them. "That should do it." He then approached the woman and her children. "You okay over there, ma'am?"

"We're fine. Thank you, kind sir!" The woman thanked him. "We are forever in your debt."

"Thank you for saving us, Mister!" One of the woman's children added.

"It was nothing. Now you can go back evacuatin' the place. Right now, your village isn't the safest place to be."

"We will. Thank you." The woman proceeded to hastily leave the premises with her children in tow.

"Sir Tyler!" The gunman turned to see the rest of his team, who had approached him. "Are you well, my friend?" Merleo asked.

"I'm fine." Tyler replied, much to their relief.

"But still, there's something not right." Kurisu began, earning the attention of the others. "The duration of this Wave was way longer than the previous one."

"I was thinking the same." Merleo agreed. "Sir Naofumi should have defeated the Wave Boss by now. However, that is not the case. Especially monsters still coming into the village even now."

"Do you think there's something that stopped the Wave from ending?" Chelsea stated. "From what I've heard from Merleo, the Wave should be going away after the Boss is defeated. But this has gone way too long!"

"I agree, Chelsea. Which is why some should check up on Naofumi while the others stay behind in the village." Kurisu said. "Me and Tyler will go on ahead. Chelsea and Merleo, you stay behind to protect the village and the evacuating villagers."

"Huh!? Why should you and Tyler go!?" Chelsea stated.

"Chelsea, we don't have time to argue about this!" Kurisu said. "Me and Tyler knew how the Wave works so it's only logical that we are the ones that need to go."

"That's certainly understandable." Merleo said. "In that case, you can leave the protection to us."

"I guess when you put it that way, I guess that sounds fair." Chelsea then turned towards Tyler. "Come back in one piece, okay? I'll never forgive you if you end up dying on me!"

"Of course, I will. I'm not as stupid as to let myself be killed out there." Tyler stated before he approached the hammer wielder. "I'll come back. That's a promise."

"You better, you dope." Chelsea then turned towards Kurisu. "Take care of him, got it? I'll hold you responsible for anything that happens to him."

"Do you know who you are talking to? I am the girl who can detect lies and bring out the truth for everyone to see. Plus, I am a former police intern. Protecting someone is kinda my whole thing." Kurisu stated.

"Okay, since that one problem has been solved…" Tyler then pulled out Scrafty's Poké Ball. "Thanks for fighting for three and a half hours, Scrafty. I think you deserve a good rest."

"That's what homies do, man. They look out for each other." Scrafty replied before he was returned to his Poké Ball.

Tyler then proceeded to climb onto the back of Hydreigon. "Come on, Kurisu! I think it's better if we search Naofumi through the air."

"That's a good idea." Kurisu approved of her comrade's idea as she turned towards Riolu and Floette. "All right, you two. Take a quick rest. We're not out of the woods yet."

"Sure/Of course." Riolu and Floette said in unison as they were returned to their Poké Ball.

The former police intern proceeded to climb to the back of Hydreigon. "Come on, let's go."

"Okay. Hold on tight, everyone!" Hydreigon stated before he took off to the sky and headed to wherever Naofumi and the others were.

As Hydreigon were flying high in the air for several minutes, Tyler realized that he had no idea where to look for Naofumi. "Ah, shit. I don't know where to look."

"You clearly didn't think this through, did you?" Kurisu remarked. "Chelsea was right, you really are an idiot."

"Shut up! You don't know where to look either!" Tyler retorted.

"I don't know where, but I do know how." Kurisu pulled out Riolu's Poké Ball "Help us out, Riolu!" She threw the Poké Ball upward, allowing Riolu to emerge from it.

"Sure— Oh my!" Riolu stated before he realized that he was thousands of feet in the air and tried to stumble and fell from Hydreigon. "Did I ever mention I have a fear of heights?"

"Worry about that later! Can you sense Naofumi's aura?" Kurisu ordered him.

"I'll try." The Emanation Pokémon complied as his eyes glowed blue. "I can sense him, albeit faintly." He then pointed in a direction. "It came from that way."

"In that case, Hydreigon." Tyler called out to his partner.

"Say no more, Tyler. I know what you're ordering me to do." Hydreigon stated. "Lead the way, Riolu."

"Sure thing! Just don't let me fall." Riolu replied as Hydreigon proceeded to fly towards the direction that Riolu was pointing at.

Through Riolu's guidance, their destination finally appeared in their view. It was a giant ship that was sailing through the air.

"Is that a flying ghost ship? Is this for real?" Tyler exclaimed.

"Yes, Tyler. This is for real." Kurisu confirmed.

Their reactions were understandable as this type of ship only appeared in fiction.

All of a sudden, Riolu suddenly perked up. "Kurisu! Tyler! I think we have a problem!"

"What is it, Riolu?" Kurisu asked her Pokémon.

"Now that we are closer to where Naofumi is, I just found out he was not alone!" The Emanation Pokémon informed them. "It looks like Naofumi and Raphtalia are going up against someone with a very strong aura. Whoever it is, I can sense the strong killing intent from it!"

"That must be a Wave Boss. How's it looking there?" Tyler said.

"Let's see…" Riolu began to squint his eyes before the "strong aura" he sensed suddenly disappeared. "Uh oh."

"What do you mean by that, Riolu?" His Trainer asked him.

"That strong aura suddenly disappeared, but…" Riolu stated. "This is just a feeling but I think it's trying to use a super-fast move like Quick Attack."

"If that's the case, then it's time to intercept." Kurisu proclaimed. "You know what to do, right?"

"If it's Quick Guard, then leave it to me!" Riolu stated as he immediately vanished.

"Okay. And now for an element of surprise. Fly up, Hydreigon!" Tyler said as Hydreigon flew towards the ship with his gun ready before the former ordered the latter to ascend.

(Flashback end)

Naofumi and Raphtalia were both just as surprised to see him here. Especially since his Trainer and their team should've been at the other village he had sensed earlier, protecting it and the residents from harm.

"It's that blue raccoon thing." Ren stated.

"How the hell can that thing manage to block that attack!?" Itsuki exclaimed.

"Such skill…" Xulan muttered in awe.

"Riolu! Why are you here!?" Raphtalia asked.

"Yeah, you should be at the other village with the others." Naofumi added.

"Did you think I came alone?"

After uttering those words, familiar bullets of energy suddenly rained down from above, all aiming at Glass. The raven-haired woman saw the attack coming and managed to block and evade the bullets.

"Stay the hell away from our friends!" A familiar voice could be heard as Naofumi and Raphtalia immediately knew whose voice it was. They looked up to see and saw Tyler on the back of Hydreigon, with Kurisu in tow.

"Tyler! Hydreigon!" Naofumi stated in relief.

"And Kurisu as well!" Raphtalia stated, just as relieved as her master.

"A Three Headed Dragon!? How did Naofumi's thug have that on him!?" Itsuki exclaimed, trying to wrap his around the appearance of Hydreigon.

"That certainly looks powerful, compared to that winged worm he has." Ren commented.

"Whoa…" Xulan, once again, was in awe as she looked at Hydreigon. 'While it certainly looks fearsome, I can tell that this Dragon has a gentle heart. And seemed to have possessed a level of intelligence on par with humans.'

Hydreigon descended to their level, allowing the two Trainers that were riding him safely to get off of him.

"Naofumi!" Tyler ran towards them with Kurisu in tow in order to check up on them.

"Those are some injuries…" Kurisu muttered as she and Tyler glanced at the injuries their friends have sustained. "Looks like we were right in coming here, after all."

"Why are you guys here?" Naofumi asked them.

"Same reason as you." The gunman stated. "You and those other Heroes were taking way too long to defeat the Wave Boss, we had to come!"

"We, at first, thought you would've found something funny about the duration and we decided to wait it out a little longer when Merleo explained that you decided to go and solve the problem. By the time more of those monsters came to the village, and some even tried to attack those evacuating the place, we knew something was definitely wrong." The former police intern explained.

"Chelsea and Merleo are still at the village, helping with the evacuation and protecting its people." Hydreigon added.

Naofumi immediately took their words and slowly had a relieved expression on his face. "I see…"

Glass, on the other hand, became fixated with Tyler and the weapon he had in his hand. "That weapon… Void Rondo: Moon Break!" As soon as she called out the attack, multiple blades of energy rained down towards the group.

"Look out!" Naofumi warned.

"Spread Shot!" Tyler shouted, firing off more bullets of energy at the attack. The bullets deflected some of the blades, but some managed to slip through. "Shit! Hydreigon, use Tri Attack!"

"Leave it to me!" Hydreigon shouted as all three heads fired off another breath of fire, ice, and electricity at the blades, causing them to collide and create shockwaves in the air as the move canceled the blades.

"The Three Headed Dragon aside, you are not bad yourself." Glass complimented him. "As I thought, you must be another one of the "true" Heroes in this world."

Those words surprised Naofumi's party as well as everyone who was awake, namely Ren, Xulan, and Itsuki.

"Me? A Hero?" Tyler repeated with a dumbfounded expression. It didn't take long for him to regain his composure. "Sorry, lady. But I think you got me confused with Naofumi and those three dumbasses." He continued, much to the chagrin of Ren and Itsuki. Motoyasu would've been the one who objected strongly if he wasn't lying on the ground unconscious. "Also, I don't know if I should feel insulted or complimented."

Glass narrowed her eyes at his claim, while eyeing his gun. "Is that so…?"

"Best be on your guard, Tyler." The gun told Tyler telepathically. "Those fans she is wielding… It reminded me of myself.'

"Like yourself?" Tyler muttered, confused with what his gun mentioned. 'Now that you mentioned it, those fans she had do look like my gun, in a way.'

"From the looks of things, we need to beat her and end this Wave, right?" Kurisu inquired. "Who is she, anyway? She looks human, but she is certainly not an ally."

"Her name is Glass. And apparently, fighting her is the real Wave." Naofumi explained while acting a little odd. Something that Kurisu noticed.

"Real Wave?" Before the former police intern could ask what he meant, she noticed that Riolu was also acting odd. "What's wrong, Riolu?"

"That girl… Her aura is strong. Too strong…" He answered. "What is that aura? Even if this is another world, it's definitely not human."

Those last words got their attention, including those who are not members of Naofumi's party. If that was true, then this person they were facing was not someone they should underestimate at all. In fact, with how Riolu acted, there must be more to Glass than what she made herself out to be.

"Naofumi. Got any more healing items on you?" Kurisu asked her leader.

"No, I used up all I had when defending the village." He answered.

"Then how's your magic? Do you have enough SP to use it?"

"I still have some SP left to use Fast Heal. Why?"

"Take as much as you need to heal up, buddy." Tyler told him, catching on to the former police intern's thoughts. "We'll keep her busy, until you guys are well enough to fight her."

Those words surprised Naofumi and Raphtalia.

"Wait. are you sure!?" Raphtalia asked.

"If a Pokémon becomes exhausted while fightin', rather than make it fight until its last breath, a sane Trainer would recall it and send out a different Pokémon to finish the job." Tyler then glanced towards Kurisu. "That's how it is in your world, too, yeah?"

"Yup. It'd be stupid to recklessly push a Pokémon past its limit when it obviously can't continue." Kurisu confirmed.

"Hold on a sec! That lady is nothing like those monsters that the Wave spawned!" Naofumi argued with them. "Not even the Rage Shield could defeat her!"

"That's kinda obvious since she had you on the ropes when Riolu found you." Tyler remarked. "That's why we're telling you to hurry up and recover."

"We'll buy you some time. There's only four of us, and Riolu already vouched for her strength. Don't take too long!" Kurisu advised.

As much as Naofumi wanted to argue with her and Tyler, he was unable to do so. Looking back, the Shield Hero had a grasp on the capabilities of his otherworldly party members. While they are not Heroes like himself, the two, including Chelsea, could handle whatever was thrown at them. Especially since they and their Pokemon proved to be more competent than his fellow Heroes.

"I can't protect you while I'm healing, so don't you dare die on me, got it?" He ordered.

The two Trainers and their Pokemon smirked at the command.

"You bet we will, dude. I've been in a worse situation before. This one isn't any different." Tyler complied.

"We'll hold on. Count on it." Kurisu proclaimed before Naofumi, along with Raphtalia, went towards Filo so that Naofumi could heal up with Fast Heal.

"Do you think they had a chance against that lady?" Itsuki asked his colleague. "They're gonna get themselves killed out there."

"Maybe… Maybe not." Ren replied as he found himself curious at how exactly the two Trainers of Naofumi's party handle Glass.

"At any rate. I'm very curious to see them in battle." Xulan told his leader and Itsuki. "They seemed well-versed at commanding these "Pokemon" than their leader, the Shield Hero"

Tyler, Kurisu, and their Pokemon approached their adversary as they were ready to fight.

"Well, well. Rather than heeding your leader's warnings, you decided to face me yourselves." Glass stated. "I could not tell if that is either bravery or foolishness."

"Trust me, lady. We got that a lot." Tyler stated as he readied his gun. "And it didn't end well for the poor suckers who said that."

"So, if you want to get to Naofumi…" Kurisu then armed herself with her tonfas. "You have to get through us first."

"If that is how it must be, then so be it." Glass stated as she readied her fans. "But know that I will show you no mercy."

"Couldn't have it any other way." The former police intern then glanced at Tyler. "Me and Riolu will face her in close-range combat. You and Hydreigon will provide some long-range support."

"You just leave that to us." The delinquent-like Pokemon Trainer complied.

"Okay. Let's go, Riolu!" Kurisu then rushed forward Glass.

"Right behind you, Kurisu!" Riolu stated as he followed his Trainer lead.

Kurisu then did a combo of swinging her tonfas and kicks several times at Glass, but she kept dodging and parrying them. But that was not the only thing the latter had to deal with as she also avoided some gunshots from Tyler. And she continued to do so while also evading the repeated assaults from Kurisu.

"Well, shit! Naofumi and Riolu really weren't kidding when they said how strong this lady is." Tyler commented before he turned towards Hydreigon. "Hydreigon, help me out with Dark Pulse!"

"Consider it done, partner!" Hydreigon complied before he fired a familiar beam of black and purple rings of energy from each of his mouth at Glass.

"Savage Wolf Shot!" Tyler shouted as the attack was launched and headed straight towards his opponent along with Dark Pulse.

"That attack…" Glass narrowed her eyes at the Dark Pulse as she has a strange feeling that this attack will damage her more than any other attacks. She wasted no time intercepting it. "Zero Stance Rondo: Reverse Four Seasons!" The raven-haired woman swung her fans, causing several orange crescent-shaped energies to appear and was heading towards the Savage Wolf Shot and Dark Pulse. The attacks eventually collided with each other and created a strong gust of wind in the air that forced everyone to cover their eyes. The three attacks canceled each other as they immediately dispersed into nothing.

"Hrah!" Glass turned around and saw Kurisu swing one of her tonfas at her, which she immediately dodged.

"Don't forget about me! Metal Claw!" The raven-haired woman then turned to see Riolu rearing back one of his arms with a Metal Claw ready.

"Quite persistent bunch." Glass muttered as she blocked the move before deflecting him away.

The upside, however, is that Riolu was covered in a familiar rising red aura temporarily, increasing his Attack stat.

"Cutting Stance Rondo: Instant!" Glass shouted before she disappeared once more.

"Looks like she's using that move again. Fortunately, we got a counter for that" Kurisu remarked before issuing Riolu the next move. "Riolu, block it with Quick Guard!"

"Here we go again!" Riolu stated before putting up a teal-colored barrier just in time before Glass reappeared and swung her fans multiple times.

It was after Glass stopped her onslaught that she realized that her attack was once again blocked. "It was blocked again!?"

"You're wide open! Hrah!" Tyler chimed in as he shot an energy bullet at Glass, which she barely deflected with a swing of her fans.

"Dark Pulse!" Glass turned to see her draconic opponent firing the same move at her, which she also managed to dodge.

"They're persistent, I'll give them that." Itsuki commented as he watched the battle that was taking place in front of him. "Still, they don't seem to be dealing damage to that woman."

"Yeah." Ren nodded in agreement. 'But they're pretty well-coordinated for a couple of special NPCs. Where did Naofumi even get them?'

Xulan was observing the battle with absolute focus in her expression. 'They're quite skilled. It was quite the feat to handle an attack that knocked all of us out.' Her eyes then were focusing on Kurisu. 'She's very well-versed in hand-to-hand combat. Those strange weapons she had certainly complimented her fighting style. Her style is like my own. Who is she?'

Kurisu was panting after making one more failed attempt at attacking Glass. 'Looks like our strategy isn't working. Her skills were impressive. And so were her sharp reflexes.' She pondered before deciding to change tactics. 'I think it's time to cut loose!' The former police intern then rushed towards her opponent once more.

"You don't think this is a little bit repetitive?" Glass remarked before she blocked one of the tonfas with one of her fans. "No matter how hard you try, you can't hurt me."

"True, but can you handle this?" As she said that, she pressed a button on the tonfa that her opponent blocked, causing said tonfa to glow yellow and then yellow sparks of electricity began to appear around it.

"What!?" The raven-haired woman exclaimed as she felt the shock before she parried it and leaped backwards.

"Whoa! Did that tonfa suddenly get electricity on it? How's that though?" Tyler exclaimed.

Naofumi, who was healing all the way back, couldn't believe the sight he was currently seeing. "An electric tonfa. You don't see that every day."

"Quite the trick there." Glass muttered as she became wary of Kurisu's attack. And so, the former decided to keep her distance away from the latter, which little did the former know, the latter had one more trick.

"Don't think that'll work!" Kurisu proclaimed before she pushed a button on the other tonfa before thrusting it, causing said tonfa to glow red and began to spew a stream of red-yellow fire from the back end of the tonfa. The stream of fire was headed straight towards her opponent, who caught off-guard from the attack.

"Wait! That other tonfa just spewed flames like a flamethrower!" Naofumi exclaimed as he and those who were not knocked out were surprised at the sight.

"That other pair had just unleashed fire now!?" Glass stated before she barely avoided the attack, but got one of her sleeves caught on fire. 'The flames, while not as hot as the Shield Hero's flames, are very different.' She contemplated as she glared towards Kurisu. 'This girl may not be a Hero, but she has the tenacity of one.'

"Hey, Kurisu! What just happened!?" Tyler called out his fellow Pokémon Trainer. "One tonfa was covered in electricity, while the other just spits up fire as if it's using the move Flamethrower! What's up with that?"

Kurisu realized that even though she did show her weapons to her party, she left out the part about what made the weapons she had special. "Right, I guessed it crossed my mind. This pair of tonfas is special because they are modified and powered by two evolutionary stones, specifically the Thunder Stone and the Fire Stone."

"Hold up! You mean to tell me that those tonfas were powered by those two stones. Like the stones that can make some Pokemon evolve?" The gunman stated.

"The very same." Kurisu confirmed. "The technology in my world is so advanced to the point that several weapons are based on Pokémon. Whether it's their moves or the evolutionary items."

"Unbelievable…" Naofumi mouthed. To him, it's as if something he heard from sci-fi anime and manga. But he was impressed nonetheless.

'Damn. She wasn't kidding when she said those tonfas were special.' Tyler muttered in his thoughts, recalling the time when Kurisu first mentioned the tonfas.

"This is getting troublesome…" Glass muttered as she braced herself for Kurisu's onslaught.

"You're wide open!" Glass turned to see Riolu, rearing its paw backward with a move ready. "Force Palm!" He thrusted said paw forward at his opponent. However, it immediately phased through her, surprising everyone.

"What!?" Riolu exclaimed.

"The hell!?" Tyler shouted in disbelief.

"Did the Force Palm phase through her?" Hydreigon stated, feeling flabbergasted as his Trainer and everyone else.

'Wait a second… this happened before.' Naofumi then recalled the time when Linoone's Slash failed to damage Glass.

"This is an interesting development…" Glass muttered before she swatted Riolu away from her, sending the Emanation Pokémon flying backwards.

"Riolu!" Kurisu cried in worry as her Pokémon managed to land on his feet. "Are you okay?"

"I'm fine…" Riolu replied as he took a deep breath. "She's very strong, all right."

"She definitely is." Kurisu added before she observed her opponent. 'Still, how can Force Palm not work on her? It doesn't make sense… Unless…'

"You know, this isn't the first time something like this has happened." Kurisu turned to his Naofumi, who had approached her with Raphtalia. "Earlier ago, Raphtalia's Linoone tried to use Slash on her, but failed as it somehow phased through her."

"Even Slash doesn't work on her!?" Tyler exclaimed before he came to a realization of his own. Especially when he remembered his opponent's reaction towards Hydreigon's Dark Pulse. 'If that reaction is anythin' to go by, then I think I know her weaknesses.'

'Linoone? I see. Raphtalia's Zigzaggoon has evolved.' Kurisu pondered. 'So, she's also immune to Slash as well, huh? That can only mean one thing…'

"Did you figure something out, Kurisu?" The former police intern snapped out of her train of thoughts as her name was called by Tyler. "I'm startin' to put two pieces together from what we've seen and what Naofumi told us too."

"Really? I thought you were not perceptive enough to pick this up." Kurisu stated.

"What's that supposed to mean? I ain't that dumb, you know!" Tyler retorted. It was clear that they knew what kind of enemy they were currently dealing with. "If she's what we think she is, I may have to bring out the big guns…"

"What?" Kurisu, Naofumi, and Raphtalia repeated in unison.

"So, even that thug has a trick of his own." Ren stated.

"A cheat is more like it." Itsuki commented.

"That's quite an exaggerated statement." Glass said. "But this farce has gone on long enough. So, I'm afraid we won't see that last surprise." She then prepared for another attack. "Void Rondo: Moon Break!" As she shouted, another swarm of energy blades appeared as it rained towards Tyler.

"I don't think so!" Riolu proclaimed as it immediately used Metal Claw to deflect the energy blades away.

Tyler and Hydreigon unleashed their attacks to deflect the energy blades as well.

"Get ready!" Kurisu proclaimed before she rushed towards Glass while deflecting some of the energy blades with the electric tonfa. When she arrived in front of her opponent, she proceeded to execute some combos by swinging her tonfas around.

The tactic worked as Glass now has her sights at Kurisu and Riolu, allowing Tyler to do his thing.

"Now's my chance!" Tyler proceeded to pull out Hydreigon's Poké Ball. "Thanks for helping this far, Hydreigon. Even after fighting three hours straight, you're still able to have my back. But I think you need to rest now because I'm bringing you-know-who here."

"That's probably for the best. I just hope that he doesn't get overboard from fighting that strange lady." The Brutal Pokémon stated before his partner returned him to his Poké Ball.

After that, Tyler swapped the Poké Ball with another one, which was very different compared to the ones that stored his Pokémon. It is a black and white Poké Ball with a yellow "H" on top of the black side of the Poké Ball that also stretched from the center to the front and back. This is an Ultra Ball, one of the best Poké Ball a Pokémon Trainer could get.

"Say hello to my little friend!" He threw the Poke Ball into the air, causing the familiar blue energy to emerge before something appeared in the place of the blue energy.

"What is that!?" Itsuki exclaimed as he and the others were flabbergasted at the Pokemon that appeared before them.

It was a dark purple, bipedal Pokémon with a roundish body. It has red eyes, a wide mouth that is curled into a malicious grin, and pointy ears. There are numerous spikes on its back and a smaller set of spikes on top of its head like a tuffy fur. Its arms and legs are short and had three digits on both of its hands and feet as well as having a stubby tail. And lastly, wrapped around its left arm is a bracelet that has a marble-like stone embedded on it, not unlike the stone in Altaria's collar. The marble is light grey with purple and red patterns.

"Hehehehahaha! The time has come for me to cause some mayhem in this new world!" The Pokémon proclaimed.

"What kind of Pokemon is that?" Naofumi wondered as he was healing Raphtalia and Filo before this happened.

"That one seems to be terrifying, even more so than Hydreigon." Raphtalia commented.

"Unbeliavable…" Ren muttered. "I almost mistook it for a Soul Eater."

"A different one?" Xulan wondered as she was curious about the newcomer.

"So, that's his trump card. It's a Gengar." Kurisu stated after she managed to dodge an attack from Glass, who also stopped as she was also eyeing the Pokémon.

"Gengar?" Naofumi repeated before his mind flashed to the time where he and his party went through a cave to acquire a magic stone. Especially the part where Tyler and Kurisu talked about a certain Pokémon. 'It looks like it's like that one Pokémon that those two mentioned back then.' He contemplated. 'I can see why Tyler knows about it. He had one on his team as his sixth Pokemon.'

"Here you go." Tyler pulled out his Pokédex to let everyone hear his sixth Pokémon's entry.

"Gengar, the Shadow Pokémon. A Ghost and Poison type. Hiding in people's shadows, this Pokemon absorbs their heat. The chill it causes makes the victims shake."

"That monster's resemblance with the Soul Eater couldn't be any uncanny." Ren commented.

"Oh? And what might this be?" Glass asked, curious about what Tyler is planning.

"Why don't we find out?" Tyler replied with a grin as he glanced towards his sixth Pokémon. "Start off with Shadow Ball!"

"Hehehehahaha! Here's a present from me for the pretty lady!" Gengar stated before he lifted up one of his hands before a ball of purple and black energy began to form on said hand. He proceeded to throw it towards Glass.

The raven-haired fan wielder suddenly tensed up when she sensed something from the Shadow Ball. 'This feeling of dread…' She muttered in her thoughts before she dodged it. But just as she was ready to retaliate…

"Hrah!" Kurisu rushed forward as she swung her electric tonfa at her opponent, which she managed to dodge.

"She's fast, all right. But I know just the thing." The gunman stated before he called out the next move. "Now, use Icy Wind!"

"Heha! I'm going to huff, puff, and then blow you away!" As the Shadow Pokémon uttered those words, he took a deep breath before releasing a wind with light blue sparkles in it from his mouth at his opponent.

"It can use ice attacks!?" Glass exclaimed before she dodged it, but her right foot got caught by the cold wind, causing her to feel the numbness of said foot as she was briefly covered in a falling blue aura. 'It's so cold. While that attack was not strong, I felt that I could move as I used to. ' She thought before glancing towards Gengar, who was still looking at her with his trademark grin. 'This creature, despite its appearance, is a rather conniving foe. I need to be wary around it.'

"Why so serious, my dear? The fun time is just getting started." Gengar stated, liking the expression his opponent was making.

"Looks like her Speed went down! Now's our chance, Kurisu!" Riolu told his Trainer.

"Yeah." Kurisu nodded before the two of them charged towards Glass. Kurisu then activated her fire tonfa to attack, but Glass managed to dodge the stream of flames. Riolu immediately swooped in and used Metal Claw once more before the fan wielder could recover. But she evaded that as well.

"Is it me or is that lady getting slower?" Itsuki asked his fellow Hero.

"It's not just you, Itsuki. I can tell that her Speed just got lowered." Ren replied. 'Was it because of that wind attack? I have never seen something like that in a game before.'

'This one is quite crafty.' Xulan commented in her thoughts. 'It must have relied on that move just so that she became much easier to deal damage. These Pokemon creatures are fascinating…'

'I can see why Tyler kept this one under his sleeve. He looks like a creepy serial killer…' Naofumi pondered as he used Fast Heal to heal himself and two of his party members.

"She's still fast, but not as fast as she was before." Tyler muttered. "Help me out with more Shadow Ball!"

"Heheha! With pleasure, Tyler!" Gengar said gleefully before he conjured two Shadow Balls on each hand before throwing it in rapid succession as Tyler shot more bullets toward Glass.

"What a nuisance…" Glass muttered as she grew annoyed with her opponents before deflecting the energy bullets and then evading the Shadow Balls. She had no time to recover because Kurisu and Riolu kept attacking her each time she had to dodge the long-range attacks. Unfortunately for her, her opponents were far more tenacious than she initially assumed as they kept coming at her relentlessly.

"Those four managed to fight Glass very well." Raphtalia commented.

"You got that right." Naofumi added as he was healing Filo because he doesn't have enough MP to fully heal Raphtalia and himself. 'Just a little bit more. It may not be much–'

His thoughts were interrupted when everyone heard the sounds of a clock ticking in the air, followed by the ship suddenly shaking a little before it slowly descended.

"Whoa! What the hell!?" Tyler exclaimed.

"The time limit!? I didn't expect it to hit this quickly." Glass stated.

"I see. I guess even the Wave has a time limit…" Kurisu stated before she turned towards her party. "Naofumi! Change of plans! We need to get out of here now!"

"Okay…" Naofumi nodded as Raphtalia helped Filo, who had regained her consciousness.

"Master…? What just happened…?" Filo groaned as she slowly stood up, thanks to Raphtalia.

"Filo. Can you get us out of here?" He asked his Filolial Queen.

"Sure do, Master!"

"And Tyler, when I give you the signal, have Gengar use a move." Naofumi told his friend.

"You got it, man." Tyler complied.

"The battle of the Wave will end in our victory, and there can be no other outcome. I have nothing against you all, but it is what it is." Glass stated before she readied her fans.

"Oh? Overconfident, are we?" Gengar remarked maliciously. "Just so you know, my dear, you haven't witnessed me at my fullest. That was just me toying with you like, well, a toy."

"Tyler, now!" Naofumi ordered him.

"Gengar, use Sludge Bomb!" Tyler commanded his Pokémon.

"Quite unfortunate that we have to end things here, but it is what it is…" Gengar stated, throwing the last sentence back at her. "After all, I think you have a good reason for invading this world. And I must say, it's rather adorable…"

Glass was quickly thrown off guard by the claim. "How did you—"

Before his adversary could get answers, A sphere of brown liquid began to form on one of Gengar's hands before he threw it on the ground, causing brown smoke to briefly enveloped the area.

"Now's our chance!" Tyler then pulled out a Poké Ball that contained Rapidash. "Come on out!" He threw the Poké Ball, allowing the aforementioned Pokémon to reappear.

"Hop on, Tyler! Kurisu!" Rapidash stated as Tyler, Kurisu, and Riolu got on to the back of the Fire Horse Pokemon.

"Let's go!" Naofumi stated as he and Raphtalia quickly climbed onto the back of Filo before she took off and jumped ship.

Rapidash soon followed after as Gengar dove towards the former's shadow before the latter jumped off the ship

As they landed on the ground, Filo and Rapidash sprinted away from the ship. However, Glass ran to the back of the ship before preparing the same attack that penetrated Naofumi's shield.

"Rupture Stance Rondo: Tortoise Shell Cracker!" Glass shouted before firing off the attack multiple times towards her fleeing opponents.

Unfortunately, said opponents were aware of the onslaught.

"Master Naofumi! She's attacking us!" Raphtalia stated as purple energy arrows were heading towards with frightening speed.

"Air Strike Shield!" Naofumi shouted as a familiar green shield-shaped barrier manifested from behind them and bare the brunt of it.

However, the worst has not yet come to pass as one last purple energy arrow was speeding towards them at an alarming rate.

"Not on my watch!" Tyler proclaimed. "Gengar! Use a full power Shadow Ball!"

"Heheheha! Of course!" Gengar emerged from Rapidash's shadow before he formed a familiar sphere of black and purple energy on each hand before fusing them together into one large energy sphere. He threw his hands forward, launching it towards the speeding energy arrow. The two attacks collided with each other, causing an explosion that blew away the cliffs behind them. He dove back into the shadow as the party ran towards safety.

Meanwhile, Glass was watching her opponents as she lamented the failure of her attempt. "It seems I can't defeat him or the ones who commanded those bizarre monsters at this distance." She muttered. "I shall leave this time, but you won't survive our next encounter unless you get stronger." After that, she decided to jump upwards. "Remember that we shall be the ones to emerge triumphant from the Waves!" She proclaimed before a bright yellow light appeared above her, causing her to disappear.

"Hey, wait!" Itsuki tried to call her out but she was already gone.

"Forget her, Itsuki! Right now, we have to brace for impact!" Ren told his colleague as he, Xulan, and Itsuki grabbed onto something as the ship slowly descended to the ground.

Little did they know, they were being watched by a third party, who was standing on the cliffside from a safe distance. It was a quadrupedal, mammalian creature with a dark blue to black body covered in white fur. It has a ruff around its neck and chest and a tuft on the top of its head adorned with a single blue-black oval. It has a feline-like face with red eyes, a scythe-like tail, and a crescent shaped horn on the side of its head. Between the dark skin, the curvature of the white fur on its head, and positioning of its horn, the creature's face resembles a wu wei symbol. Its feet are broad and are equipped with three claws each, and dewclaw-like spikes protrude from the heels of its hind legs and the elbows of its front legs. This is an Absol, a Pokémon well-known for sensing disasters and often mistaken for a bringer of calamity.

"So, this is the calamity that threatened this world?" Absol muttered. "And that mysterious human… she is a powerful foe." Absol said as he turned his back. "I wonder… Can the Heroes of this world truly succeed? Who knows…?" And with that, the mysterious Pokémon took his leave to parts unknown.

And that's a wrap about today's chapter. I hope you all like it!

So, Tyler's sixth Pokemon is none other than a Gengar, which was being foreshadowed in Chapter 5. Initially, it was going to be Mewtwo but I decided against it because it ended up being a little OP.

Special thanks to Coral the Leviathan for helping me in writing the chapter as well as providing her OC's special tonfas. Kurisu's World is a bit advanced to the point where weapons are powered up from evolutionary stones.

Also, why is an Absol there? Well, all will be explained in the later chapters.

As usual, be sure to leave a review and a like~!
