Chapter 67-New Years

"Holidays on Midgard are very amusing." Thor mused. "Such as that celebration you have of starting a new year."
"Best holiday ever." Clint exclaimed. "My head is still spinning from that night."
"The party we had that night, I can believe that." Bruce said with a smirk.

"Are we fully stocked on the good stuff?" Tony asked.
"Plenty." Clint answered.
"How are we on food?"
"More than enough to keep even Thor and Steve stuffed for a week."
"Excellent. Now we just have to get everyone here and make sure Jarvis is recording everything."
"I have plenty of space for recording tonight's events, sir." Jarvis said.
"Thank you, Jarvis. Now, where are the others?"
"Right here." Steve announced as he and Natasha appeared. Naturally, Natasha was stunning. Dressed in a black dress with a white collar and her hair pinned into a perfect bun. Steve is dressed in dark dress pants with a navy blazer and white shirt and perfectly combed hair.
"Good. Now we just need Point Break and Bruce."
"They'll be here in a few minutes. Bruce is helping Thor get his tie on." Natasha said.
"A tie? Thor?" Clint repeated.
"He wants to be fancy since this is going to be the first time he'll celebrate New Years with us." Natasha said as she poured herself and Steve a glass of champagne.
"Makes sense. But if he comes in wearing a tux, I will laugh my butt off." Tony warned.
"Be nice." Steve said taking the glass his wife handed him.
"I will, I will." Tony said and looked at his watch. "I better go get ready before everyone starts showing up."
"You're not going to wear the suit are you?" Natasha asked. "We had enough of that on your birthday last year."
"But it was fun, wasn't it?" Tony asked with a smirk.
"Until you got your iron butt handed to you." the spy replied.
"And Pepper thought you were trying to steal me."
"How she got that, I still have no clue."
"She really thought that?" Steve asked with an amused look.
"She did. She said she knew what I was up to which I was really assigned to make sure Tony didn't drop dead. But she seemed to accept the real reason I was there after everything was over."
"That must have been funny." Clint said.
"A little." Natasha replied. "Now hurry and go change. The party is going to start soon."
True to Natasha's word, the party started sooner than anyone even realized. Drinks were shared, food was being eaten and the dance floor was crowded with sober and buzzed dancers.
Various people were wearing hats and headbands that had 2014 in different colors. A live radio was giving them music and updates as the countdown drew closer.
When the last five minutes arrived, the six Avengers stood outside on the balcony. Tony observed his newfound family.
The happily married soldier and spy, his science 'brother', his crazy archer partner in crime and the big hearted thunder god.
"This was quite a year for us." he said as they all held glasses. "I, for one, am pleased with how it passed. We had a lot of fun this year and I hope we have more before us."
"I am grateful to have shared so many experiences with all of you." Thor said. "I have never before allowed many people to become close to me but I am very glad that I have all of you in my life. I hope we have many great adventures together."
"Up until now, I never allowed myself to get close to people." Bruce said. "That's because I believed that people who were close to me would get hurt or worse. But during our time together, I've learned not to be so afraid and allow myself to get back to life I once had. I never want to have another without any of you."
"At first, the circus I grew up in was the only family I ever had until we came together." Clint said. "I always use to be a loner but you guys have changed that. We've had some real great times, some hilarious times and a great year. I say we do our best to do it again every year."
"This has been an amazing year for me." Steve said. "I had entered this new century without anything. Now I have a beautiful wife and some of the greatest people as my friends and new family. Even though I'm from a different time, I wouldn't give up this new life for anything."
"This has been an interesting year for all of us." Natasha said. "We've all changed in different ways and it's brought us closer together. We all went through our own little trials but I believe that it was a way for us to learn things about ourselves. I myself never knew that I would one day have a wonderful husband or some 'interesting' people as my closest friends. I wouldn't trade it for anything in the world. I hope things stay this way."
The clicked their glasses together and drank their drinks before heading back inside as the countdown began.
They stayed in the center of the crowd as the last ten seconds were counted down.
"Three...two...one...HAPPY NEW YEAR!"
The six Avengers shared hugs with each other and others in the crowd as cheers erupted and fireworks could be seen lighting up the sky.

"This next New Years party is going to be bigger and better." Tony vowed.
"Just make sure you and Clint don't try to talk Jarvis into driving a car to take you out for ice cream again." Natasha said.
