Chapter 22: Battle on the Mountain
Spawn, Cerberus, and Wraith were climbing up the mountain. As they were climbing, the temperature was changing whenever they got further up the mountain.
"Jesus. I feel like I'm freezing my nuts off." Spawn stated.
He took a breath for a moment as he continue to climb while Cerberus and Wraith was right behind him.
"Sorry about that I forgot to mention the further we go the colder it gets. Also these Ice Banshees like to hide themselves within the snow. So, be aware from touching the snow." Cerberus said.
She climbed up next to Spawn as he was looking at her with a raise brow.
"Why can't we touch the snow." Wraith asked, climbing next to her.
"Picture being trap in a spider web and you were trying to escape from by moving around the web, but you didn't realize that the web was signaling the spider." Cerberus said.
Spawn was looking at her and pointed at her.
"Fair point. That's why you told us not to use our chains and weapon to get up at the mountain for quicker pace." Spawn siad.
The trio continue climbing as they got further up the mountain. The temperature started to go down again. It's been about an hour or two as they been climbing and the blizzard started to appeared around them. Spawn was using his powers to stay warm as well as Cerberus and Wraith.
"We got to find a cave to wait out this blizzard." Spawn suggested.
"Just a few feet up ahead there should be a cave." Cerberus said.
They continue to climb and once they made to the cave. They all collapsed inside to catch their breath. Spawn was looking at out of the cave for a moment until he saw a shadow silhouette flying by as he jumped back into the cave.
"I think that I saw a banshee." Spawn said.
Cerberus went to the find what he was mean. She quickly poke her head out of the cave. She pulled her head back as she saw the same shadow silhouette.
"It's a scout. It trying to figure out who's on the mountain." Cerberus said.
"What do we do?" Wraith asked .
"Well, we can't kill it without alerting the enemy of our location." Spawn said.
The trio started to pondered on what their next plan of action. As they were trying for a moment, Spawn noticed something about this cave. He was looking down to see that it was solid ice.
"Hey, Cerberus, I got a question for you. You says that these Ice Banshees can regenerate from the snow, right?" Spawn said.
"Yeah. Why?" Cerberus asked.
"That includes ice right?"
Then Spawn walked towards the cave's entrance once again. But this time, he was lining up his shot as he followed the way the shadow silhouette was moving and once he was able to lock on the shadow silhouette. Then he flick his wrist to launch his chain.
The chain wrapped around something and Spawn pulled on the chain to bring the shadow silhouette towards their location. There was a some resistance for a moment until Spawn used his strength to pulled into the cave as it hit the ice which a loud thump.
Cerberus and Wraith drew their weapons to prepare for a fight. The trio slowly moved closer to the creatures as it started to stand up to reveal to be lifeless skinning creatures that was pale as the snow. It let out a powerful shriek as Spawn, Cerberus, and Wraith covered their ears.
The Banshee started to inhale and release a cold ice shards at the trio. Spawn used his chains to knock by several ice shards. Cerberus to used her sword to sliced them while Wraith used his daggers to form a shield to melt the ice. Spawn threw his sword at the creature which it impale it into the block of ice.
It was struggling to get from from the blade, but Spawn saw that his sword was glow while the Ice Banshee started to feel the heat. Steam was coming off it like it was melting. Spawn walked up to the creature and placed his hand on the hilt of his sword.
"The heat in on.": Spawn said.
He pulled out his sword and slice the creatures its entire body turned into steam. With that done, the ice started to melt which created a path for them. Spawn was looking at Cerberus before looking back that the pathway.
"Where does this lead to?" Spawn asked.
"Don't know." Cerberus said.
"Well, we have two options. Head back out and climb up the mountain the rest of the way or take this hidden pathway." Wraith suggested.
Both Spawn and Cerberus were looking at each other as they started to think on their next move. Spawn knew this might be a safe route for them to find the Ice Banshees must quicker.
"Well, I have to say that it is much safer and easier for us to move without being spotted by another scout. So, I suggested that we take the pathway." Spawn said.
"Right." Cerberus and Wraith agreed.
The trio started took the pathway and they were walking into the tunnel. Spawn sense something as they came to the two way. He placed his hand on the ice crystal. He sense the a presence of something that was leading out side.
"This way." Spawn said.
They started walking the path that Spawn just picked. They were walking until they saw a bright light at the end of the tunnel. Once they made it out of the cave, the three of them were standing at the exit as they all saw a horde of Banshee.
"Oh okay, all we have to do is find the queen and put and end to all of this." Cerberus said.
"I don't think finding the queen would be that hard." Spawn said.
Cerberus looked at Spawn with a confuse look on her face.
"Why would say that?" Cerberus said.
Spawn only answer by turning her head towards the direction that he was looking. She looked pass the horde and see a pale skinned woman that was sitting on the ice throne.
"Really, she was sitting out in the open like that." Cerberus said.
"Well, that is a good and bad thing situation." Wraith said.
"How?" Cerberus said.
"Good for us to find her. Bad for us because we can't get to her through her army." Wraith stated.
"Wow, that is a good point on both parts." Spawn said.
They were looking at the queen as she turned her attention towards them as she sense strong energy of hellspawns. She was narrow her eyes as she was looking at them.
"I think that she notice we're here." Wraith stated.
"So, the hellspawns had come to wrothship my army."
"I would say that because we're not part of the legion." Spawn said.
"You're not. To bad I would have to avoid fighting worthless insects. I will have to move my army upon those worthless human and add to my collection."
"Yeah that's not gonna happened." Cerberus said.
The queen scowled as she stood up from her ice throne. She inhaled for a moment as she released a powerful shriek to get the attention of her horde. She pointed at the trio as they scowled at them. Spawn, Wraith and Cerberus all drew their weapons and took their stances.
"Looks like we're gonna have to fight our way through." Spawn said.
He popped his neck a few time as he gripped the hilt of his sword. The trio charged as the horde were doing the same. Wraith jumped into the air to take out some of them from the sky. Cerberus used her gripped her hilt of her sword as the sword started to break off into whip form. She swung it as the blade whip started to cutting some of the banshees to streads.
Spawn was was looking around to see that he was surrounded. He closed his eyes for a moment before they shot back open as he was releasing a power wave from his eyes. The banshees were screaming in pain as they were melting.
Wraith were brought his daggers down to the ground and gripped on the chains which caused them to ignite. The snow started to melt faster which Spawn was looking at him.
"Dude! What the hell are you doing. That'll cause an avalanche!" Spawn yelled.
"Sorry!" Wraith said.
Spawn used his cape to put of the flame before it could start an avalanche and the cut the banshees to piece. Cerberus was running towards the queen as she used the sword to slice her way through. Spawn and Wraith started to follow behind her to cover her from all sides.
The trio was carve their way through the horde of Banshees. The queen as she stood up from her ice throne. She inhale as she was started to release a power shirek that echo throughout the mountain. Cerberus, Spawn and Wraith covered their ears. The shriek was too powerful as they dropped to their knees. Little did they know the snow started moving on its own.
The snow started to take shape into a large pillar of snow. Spawn was looking up with one eye open as he saw the pillar started to sprout wings, arms, and legs. The snow started to form a neck and head as the snow started to change from white powder of ice into a ice like scales. The queen was shriek came to an end as her job was complete. She made a ice Dragon from the snow.
"Uh guys. I think that she could make creatures out of the snow." Spawn said.
"What?!" Cerberus and Wraith said, still covering their ears.
"Look!" Spawn shouted , pointing at the Ice Dragon.
"Oh!" Wraith said.
"That's new." Cerberus said.
The ice dragon's eyes open and looked down at the trio. It let out a powerful roar at them. it swung its tail as Spawn, Wraith and Cerberus jumped to avoid being hit. They were about to used their weapons, but ice dragon used its wings to blew them back which knocking their weapons out of their hands.
The trio landed in the snow. Spawn was shaking his head to gain back his focus. Wraith was getting up to his feet and Cerberus was looking at the dragon. The queen placed her cold hand on the creature's scale. She was looking at the three hellspawn before her.
"You three manage to get this far, but now I believe that it's time for you three to die. So, my everlasting winter will begin."
She signal the dragon to finish them off. The dragon started to breath an trail of ice blast which Spawn's eyes widened and he brought his cape out and surrounded their necks. When the blast them, the queen only saw Spawn's hand poking out of the ice.
"Hahahaha... come my pet and my children. Over everlasting winter will now begin."
She climbed up on the dragon as it and the horde of banshees started to fly off towards the city. Once they were gone, Spawn's hand started to flinching which caused his sword to tremble. Spawn's sword wasn't the only one that was trembling, Wraith's chain draggers were doing it too along with Cerberus sword whip. Then the three weapon sprout up from the snow and headed over to the ice.
The weapons started to cut their way through to reach their masters. Suddenly, the ice started to burst which freeing Spawn, Wraith, and Cerberus from their ice prison. They were cover in holes from being impile by ice. All parts of their bodies had holes except for their necks which they were covered by Spawn's cape that made metal neck brace.
"Ugh! Is everyone alright?" Spawn asked.
Wraith and Cerberus nodded his heads as the three of them started to heal up. Spawn's cape started to remove itself from Wraith's and Cerberus's neck. Once all of their wounds were closed and healed up. Spawn pressed the button on his wrist to called up their ride. Inferno arrived at the mountain top and it landed on the mountain and lower the ramp.
Spawn and Wraith started board the aircraft. They stopped for a moment to see that Cerberus was looking from the mountain top to see some of the banshees off in the distance. Spawn was looking at her as he walked up to her and placed his hand on her shoulder.
"You can check on your family. Wraith and I will handle this." Spawn said.
Cerberus nodded her head and she jumped from the mountain. Spawn turned around as his flapped into the wind. He board the ship as it flew off after the queen and her horde. Spawn was sitting at the cockpit.
"Eve, charge up the weapons. We're going after those bastards." Spawn said.
"Acknowledge." Eve said.
She gave the controls over to Spawn as he was started to pressed a couple of buttons to make the weapons appeared. Wraith was managing the target systems and shield monitor.
"They enemy is about to be in range." Wraith said.
"Right." Spawn said.
Once the ship got closed enough, Spawn started to shooting the banshees down. As the banshee where hit by the lazers, they started to melting away. The queen heard the sound of her children crying out in pain before she didn't hear it anymore. She turned her head to see that they were being shot down by the inferno. She scowl as she shriek to get her children's attention to take out the aircraft. The horde of banshees started to turned their attention to Spawn and Wraith.
"Well, I never expect her to noticed unt it was too late." Spawn said.
He pulled on the steering to break off his attack. The ship maneuver away from the banshees. They were shrieking to freeze the ship's engines. Spawn turned the steering wheel to avoid their attack. Spawn was perform aerial maneuver to avoid the banshee, but one of them manage to hit the ship and started to freeze the engine.
"Crap. Those bastards froze one of the jet engines." Spawn said.
"Don't worry, I got this." Wraith said.
He unbuckled his seatbelt and started to head out of the ship. He lowered the ramp as he climbed on top of the ship. He was making his way towards the frozen thrusters. He drew his daggers and started twirling them to get them hot. The banshees saw him getting ready to start up the engine again. They started to make their way towards the free falling ship. Spawn saw them as he pressed a button to fired off a rocket.
"I have got to get Sean to give me all the details of this ship." Spawn said, pressing the speaker button. "Uh, not trying to rush you or anything...but whatever you are going to do, you better do it fast because more of that banshees heading our way."
Wraith continued to twirling his draggers while Spawn was trying his best to keep the ship in the air and avoiding the ice banshee.
=== Cerberus ===
Cerberus landed in front of her cabin. She was looking around to see that there were sign of ice banshee been here. She quickly went inside to see that the place was trashed. She was started running around the house.
"Honey? Girls? Where are you?" Cerberus called out.
Then she stepped on a loose floorboard and she placed her hand over the board. Then pulled it up to see that her wife and daughters were safe. She let out a sigh of relief as she jumped down to hugged and kissed them.
"Are you three alright?" Cerberus asked.
"We're fine, dear. What are you doing back here?" Mona said.
"I thought that I come to check up on you three." Cerberus said.
Mia and Nia were looking at their mother's armor and they started to touch it. The suit started to warm up from their touch and she was looking at the twins with a bright smile.
"Cool." Mia said.
"You two like it?" Cierra asked.
"Uh huh." Mia and Nia said.
Then Cierra's eyes started to glow as she quickly ran outside. She was looking up at the sky as her hellspawn powers enhance her sight. She saw the Inferno was doing a free falling nose dive.
"i have to help them." Cierra said.
She was looking at her wife and her kids. They gave her a warm smile which caused her to nodded her head. Then her mask came back on and she used her sword to convert it into whip. She cracked it against a tree to wrapped it around the top. She started running to build up momentum to increase her speed. Once she picked up enough speed, she loosen her grip on her hilt which caused her whip to return to her sword form.
Cerberus was launched into the air and she was looking at some of the ice banshees making their way towards the ship. She used her sword as a whip to get more air. She was making her way towards the ship and she noticed that Wraith was doing something. She landed on the ship as she started cracking her sword/whip to slice the ice banshees to keep them from getting closer to the ship while Wraith was looking at her.
"Cerberus? How did you get here?" Wraith said.
"Fight now, talk later." Cerberus said.
Wraith nodded his head as he focus while Cerberus keep him cover. Spawn was looking at the ocean was coming.
"Uh, Wraith. Whatever you're about to do, you better do it now." Spawn said.
Wraith felt the heat from his daggers and jump from the ship as he lined up his target. He threw his daggers at the frozen thrusters and once the daggers hit the thruster as the heat started to warm up the ships engines once again. Spawn was looking at the engine temperature started to rise.
"Okay. Hang on out there." Spawn said.
He pulled the lever to boost the thruster. He pulled the steering back to level the ship out. Cerberus used her sword/whip to uppled Wraith back onto the ship. Once the ship was about to level out, the ship glide across the water which made a big wave.
The ship manage to head back into the sky. Cerberus and Wraith climb down to the ramp and walked up the ramp as it closed behind them. Spawn turned his head to see that Cerberus was here.
"Cerberus? How in the living hell did you get up here?" Spawn asked.
"I slingshot my way up to your ship." Cerberus said. "Now, do you have a plan about the queen?"
"I do, but we have to get to her and that ice dragon of hers." Spawn said.
He turned the wheel which caused the ship to turned as it headed for the dragon. Spawn pressed a few buttons that caused ship to be armed with three rocket launchers. He was lining up the target.
"Firing rockets now." Spawn said.
The ship started shooting the rockets which caused some of them to hit the dragon. It roar in pain as the queen was looking at the ship zooming by her and her pet dragon.
"Okay. Someone need to get Ms. Sunshine off her high horse." Spawn said.
"Leave that to me. But I'm gonna need her to be on dry land." Cerberus said.
"If I may, I have a suggestion. Take the hover bike to this coordinates." Eve said.
Eve appeared before Cerberus as she raised her arms to open a hidden compartment to reveal a bike which shocked both Wraith and Spawn.
"Okay you have got to tell all your features." Spawn said.
"Certainly." Eve said.
Cerberus was hoped on the bike as Eve release the restraints as it started to roll backward. Spawn lower the ramp. Cerberus just smiled as she inhale and...
"Woooo hoooo!" Cerberus cheered.
She freefall as the bike switch into a hover mode as the wheels which into hover discs. She zoom towards the queen as she saw her getting ready to shriek to get the dragon back into the fight. She cracked her sword/whip to wround the blade around her throat.
"I don't think so." Cerberus said, managed to lock her blade in. "Why don't we have a little girl's talk while the boys clean up your mess."
She pulled the queen off the dragon and drove off to a nearest land. Meanwhile, Wraith was looking at Eve for a moment.
"Do you have another bike?" Wraith asked.
Spawn just snickered because he wanted to experience the same nodded her head and raised her arms to open another compartment to reveal another bike. Wraith hopped on as Eve removed the restraints and leave the ship. The bike switched into hover mode as well. Spawn looked out the window.
"Well, at least they're having fun with the new toys. Now, let see if I can take this baby through her pace." Spawn said.
He pulled the lever forward which caused the thrusters to boost. Wraith started to follow behind him. Dragon started to raise up once again. It let out a roar as the horde of banshees were heading towards it. Spawn started shooting some of them down while Wraith used his daggers to cut them down as well.
"Okay, Wraith. you do you mind help these small fries while I did with big chief here." Spawn said.
"No prob. I love having leftovers." Wraith said.
Spawn pulled the ship back to fly back towards the dragon. Wraith fly towards the banshees. Spawn started shooting at the dragon as it roar and then it started to shoot its ice breath at the ship. Spawn avoid the ice from hitting the ship.
"Okay. how about this!" Spawn said.
He fired off several rockets at the beast. It roar while Spawn continue to onslaught. He was firing lasers and rockets on the dragon.
Wraith was cutting down banshees after banshees. He used some of the weapons that were on the bike to shoot some of the down as well. The banshees were melting from the heat.
Cerberus brought the queen to land as she flung the queen into a nearby tree. She landed the hover bike as it revert back to motorcycle mode. She got off the bike and stood in front of the queen. She hissed as she stood back up to her feet.
"You think that you can separate me from my children."
"Well, that was the plan. By killing you it will put an end to your horde." Cerberus said.
The queen hissed at her as Cerberus was reading her sword. The queen nails started to extend into a razor sharp claws. Then her body started to change shape into a serpent.
"Wow, I think that I might have my work cut out for me." Cerberus said.
The queen shriek at Cerberus as she slithered towards her. Cerberus dodge out of the way to avoid being cut. The queen cut the tree as it was turned into ice in a instant. Cerberus ready her stance as both her and the queen charge at one another. They clashed as Cerberus kicked the queen in the face. The queen turned her head as she used her tail to wrapped around Cerberus's body.
"I am going to drain the life out you and to those you hold dear."
Then Cerberus's eyes widened as a image of her wife and her daughters appeared in her head. Her eyes narrowed as heat started to spike from her armor. The queen scream in pain as she released Cerberus from her hold. She slithered away and look at Cerberus who was now pissed beyond any imagine.
"Anyone who tries to harm my family, they will feel my wraith." Cerberus said.
Then her sword was caught on fire. She was looking at the queen as she was crack the whip from of her blade. It cut the queen's right shoulder as it was set on fire. She shrieked as she was trying her best to put the flame out. Then Cerberus cracked the whip one more time and this time she aimed for the queen's left shoulder as it was on fire. The flame started to travel around the queen's body.
"Ahhh! Why can't I put them out. Ahhh!"
"That's because it's my inferno flame." Cerberus said.
She brought her whip back into her sword form.
"This is where you die." Cerberus said.
She charge at the queen at full speed and she cut through the flames. She was landing in the other side of the queen.
"Let the hounds of hell ripped you apart when you get to hell." Cerberus said.
"Ahhhhh!"
That the last scream that anyone would hear. Cerberus was walking away as she was looking up at the sky. Spawn was fire a few more rounds of rockets at the dragon as he stopped the ship and he was looking at the dragon was starting to feel something. It was roaring out in pain.
"Hey Wraith, you're seeing this too?" Spawn asked.
Wraith was looking at the horde of ice banshees were feeling the same effect that the dragon was feeling. He placed his hand on the was comlink.
"Yeah. I'm looking at it." Wraith said.
They both were looking at the dragon and the banshees to see that they all were melting away. Once they melted away, The sun started to come through the dark clouds. Spawn started to land the ship as Wraith descend. Cerberus was walking alongside the bike. The ramp was drop down as they both walked aboard the ship as the door closed behind them.
Few Minutes later
Nia and Mia was running towards their mother and hugged her. Then Mona walked up to Cierra and kissed her. Alvin and David was looking away from the sight of them kissing. Once they broke away from each, Cierra was looking at the two Hellspawns before her.
"Thank you both for helping stop that demon." Cierra said.
"No problem. You have great skill which David and I would like you to join us to help more people beside Canada." Alvin said.
"Like what?" Cierra said.
"Well, we haven't figured that out just yet. But if you ever need work, I have this card here that will help you. The pay is good." Alvin said.
He handed her a small card that had Global Tech logo on it.
"Global Tech?" Cierra said.
"It's company that is trying to change the world for the best." Alvin said.
"You know, the girls have been wanted to see the world for a long time. I think that a chance of pace will do us some good." Cierra said.
She heard them gasped.
"You mean that we are going to leave this place?" Mia asked.
"Yup. If Mr. Alvin's ship can hold all of us?" Cierra said.
"Oh sure. She will hold plenty." Alvin said.
He pressed a button on his wrist as the inferno appeared before them which caused the twins to gasped at the sight of the ship. They were jumping for joy at how big the ship was.
