Kyo shot up in bed. He was panting, covered in sweat. He looked around and it was the middle of the night. He got up and walked to the stairs. "I hear you. But how do we get there without her knowing?" asked Shigure.
"I see. Let me get Yuki and Kyo. And they will go with Kazuma. I will make sure that Hatori is on standby." Fear shot through Kyo. "What is it?" he turned and there stood Yuki. "I know that you're there. Kyo. Yuki." came Kazuma's voice.
They come into view. "What's wrong?" asked Yuki. "I got a phone call from someone in the main estate. They want us to come and get Tohru. They fear for her safety." Fear coursed through Yuki and Kyo. What had happened to Tohru?
"What did they say about her? Is Ms. Honda okay?" asked Yuki. There was silence. "Well, is she okay? What's going on!?" yelled Kyo. Kazuma walked over to Kyo. He put his hand on Kyo's shoulder.
"The three of us will go to the house of the cat and we will get her. But be warned of what condition Tohru is in. We have been warned that she isn't in good condition." Kyo got angry.
"Then let's go!" he ran to the door and ripped it open and stopped at who was standing there. Akito. She had a crazed smile on her face. "Akito, what are you doing here?" asked Shigure, walking up to her. She looked at Shigure.
"I taught her a lesson, Shigure. I taught her that she couldn't keep me away from my zodiac. And I think that she has learned her lesson." She looked beyond Shigure at Kyo. "Not only did she get punished by trying to take all of you from me, but she has also been punished because of you," she said with a cruel smile.
She looked at all of them. She backed away from Shigure. "You may come and get her. She's in the way and making a horrible mess." She said with a smile. "What have you done Akito?" asked Shigure.
She looked at Shigure. "I punished her. She will never get in the way of me and my zodiac." She said, looking at her hands and laughing. Kyo pushed past Akito and took off running heading to where his Tohru was.
"Kyo, wait!" yelled Yuki, running after him. Kyo could focus on nothing but getting to Tohru. Shigure looked at Akito and he shook his head. "Kureno, I think you should take her home." said Shigure, bowing his head.
Kureno came into view. "I agree. Akito, let's go home. You must be tired." Akito smiled and she leaned into Kureno and nodded. "Yes, I am tired." She looked over at Shigure. "When that wretch returns here, make sure that she knows that she won't change anything. She won't take you from me. And if she tries, then she will meet an even worse end than she has today."
She turned and walked away. Kureno and Shigure locked eyes for a second before he turned to follow Akito. Shigure looked at Kazuma. "Let's prepare for when Tohru and the others return."
Kyo's lungs felt like they were going to explode from all the running. But he couldn't tell himself to slow down. He had to get to Tohru as fast as he could. He could rest when he got to her. He skidded to a halt as he spotted the little building that held the cat's room.
He ran up there, Yuki following close behind and he tripped over his feet, losing his balance for a moment and he made it to the door. He threw it open and ran to the door to the cell and he wrenched it open. He slid to his knees in shock.
"No," he said, brokenly. Yuki stopped close behind and gasped. In the cell there was blood everywhere. Kyo crawled toward Tohru. She was unconscious on the ground, her arms rebound. There were slashes all across her chest and her collarbone area. Her shirt was soaked with blood and was practically ribbons.
"Tohru." he said just below a whisper. He reached into his pocket and took out a knife. He cut her arms free. She didn't move. "Tohru." he said. He cradled her to his chest and he could feel the blood stain and soak into his shirt.
Sobs shook him. "This isn't what I wanted at all." he whispered as he cradled her head to him. "Tohru." he let go slightly and her head fell back against his arm. "Tohru, come back to me. Don't leave me." he begged as his tears fell. They fell onto her face.
Her eyes slightly fluttered open. "Dont cry." she said lowly. Kyo's eyes shot open and he looked down at her. "Don't cry, please Kyo." Kyo sniffed. "I am so sorry, Kyo." she whispered and she went limp once more.
Kyo picked her up and he looked at Yuki, who was also in shock. Yuki's eyes were full of fear and tears. "Yuki, Kyo." They looked at Hatori standing there. "Please…help her." asked Kyo. Hatori nodded and he walked over and took Tohru from Kyo.
"We will get her to the hospital. Shigure and Kazuma are on the way here. You will ride with them." Kyo nodded. "Yes, just save her." begged Kyo. Hatori nodded. "I will do my best." He took off with Tohru in his arms.
Yuki went to leave and he stopped and he saw that Kyo was standing there in shock, tears falling from his eyes. Yuki walked over to Kyo. "Kyo, let's go," he said. Kyo didn't move. Yuki was sure that he didn't even hear him.
Kyo was just focused on his blood-stained hands. His hands were drenched in Tohru's blood. He put a hand on his shoulder and squeezed. Kyo snapped out of it. He looked at Yuki.
"Let's go." said Yuki. Kyo looked at the ground. He clenched his fist. "I can't," he said, tears still falling. Yuki walked over to him.
"Kyo, you need to go." came a gentle voice. Yuki and Kyo looked over and there stood Kazuma. He walked in the room and he looked at Yuki.
"Why don't you go on and head over to the hospital? I'll bring Kyo." Yuki sighed and nodded. He walked to the doorway. He stopped and turned. "You better come, you stupid cat." he said and he took off running.
Kazuma walked closer to Kyo, who had dropped back to his knees. He was focusing on his hands that were covered in Tohru's blood. Kazuma knelt beside him. "Kyo, come on, we need to go. We have to go to the hospital and be there for Tohru."
Kyo clenched his hands at his sides. "I can't. I can't go and see her." Kazuma cocked his head to the side. "Why?" Kyo picked his head up, tears falling from his eyes. "Because I did this to her! I put her in danger! Because I love her! I knew better than to let myself love her! I knew the danger it put her in! But I still let myself fall for her!" He bowed his head and he clenched the ground beneath him and the tears fell.
Kazuma put a hand on his shoulder. "You love her, Kyo. That right there is the biggest reason why you need to be there for her. In case this goes the more horrible route. You need to be there for Tohru, because you love her." Kyo picked his head and looked at Kazuma.
"You need to be there for her, Kyo. You can't run from this. You will never forgive yourself. And you can't be there to always protect her from everything. No one saw this coming. Now take a breath and let's go."
Kyo took a deep breath and he nodded. He stood up and looked at Kazuma. "Let's go." said Kyo. Kazuma nodded. They rushed to the hospital and they stood around and waited. Hatori was doing his best to save Tohru's life.
About 2 hours later Hatori walked out. They all rushed over. "How is Ms. Honda?" asked Yuki. Hatori took his glasses off. "She lost a lot of blood and she has other minor injuries. It looks like she hit her head pretty hard so we were concerned about that but she is awake. She will have to be in the hospital for a day or so. Then she will be on strict bed rest for a few days."
They all nodded. "Can we see her?" asked Kyo. Hatori looked at Kyo. "She is asking for you." said Hatori to Kyo. Kyo nodded. Kyo took a step. "Stupid cat." Kyo stopped and turned to look at Yuki.
"If you are just going to make her cry, then I think that you can wait." Anger pulsed through Kyo but he breathed through it. This was about Tohru. Not the dumb rat. He continued down the hall and he made it to her room.
He raised his hand to knock. Fear and anxiety gripped his heart. The last time that he said to her was that she needed to let him go and that she disappointed him. The flashes of her tear-stained face raced through his mind.
What if she hated him? What if she can't forgive him for what he said to her? What he still needed to come clean about? Would she allow him to still be in her life? Kyo shook his head.
'It doesn't matter. If she hates me after this, then so be it. But I have to tell her the truth and I need to tell her how I feel. I need to tell her with the time that I have left. I have to tell her the truth about everything before I'm locked away forever.'
He opened the door to the room. "Kyo." came a soft voice.
