Tohru backed away against the counter. "What are you doing here?" she asked, her voice quivering. "Please, I don't need permission to enter anywhere owned by a Soma." Akito came into view. "I see that you're not heeding my words to stay away from Kyo."
She walked closer to Tohru and she took a few steps away from her. She took Tohru's hair and massaged it between her fingers. "Kyo will never be yours. He belongs to me and only me."
Tohru looked at Akito. "Why didn't you kill me that day? You could have but you didn't." Akito looked at her and smiled. "Because I want you to know that the only reason why you're alive is that I allow it."
Tohru shook her head. "I'm not going to live like that Akito." Akito looked at her in shock. "I'm not going to live my life thinking that. You didn't kill me because you decided not to. You don't allow me to be alive, Akito."
"I still want to be your friend and make your life easier." Akito slapped her across the face. She fell to the ground. Kyo and Yuki came running down. Kyo pushed Akito away. "Leave her alone!" he yelled angrily.
Akito looked at Kyo in shock. "So you really are choosing that disgusting girl over me!? Your God!?" she yelled. Kyo looked at her. "I never would choose you, Akito. Even without Tohru." he spit out.
Akito looked over at Yuki helping Tohru. She threw a glass and she hit Yuki in the head. "Yuki!" She cried. She kneeled down and she reached to tend to Yuki's head wound. She looked at Akito and she stood back up.
"You can't keep doing this! This isn't what a god should do to her Zodiac! You should love them!" She cried.
Akito screamed out and she pulled out a knife and she put it to Kyo's neck. "No!" cried Tohru, standing up. "Akito, that's enough!" yelled Shigure coming into the room. Akito looked at Shigure. "You are all going to choose this stupid girl over me!"
She put the blade closer to Kyo's throat. "Akito, that's not true," said Shigure calmly. Akito looked at him. "Yes, you will. She already took the cat and rat from me! How could she!? Her, this disgusting girl!" she yelled, pointing the knife at Tohru. She flinched.
Yuki sat up, a cut on his forehead. "We just want to live our lives. Free from your cruelty." said Yuki. Akito looked at Yuki. "Oh, the rat is standing up for himself right now?" she yelled maniacally. Yuki looked at her.
"I am. I'm not afraid of you anymore Akito. You don't own me." Something snapped. Yuki gasped and he looked at Akito. Akito gasped and she screamed out in anger. She went to stab Kyo and he quickly got free.
Akito dropped the knife. Shigure walked over and he hugged the broken crying girl. Shigure looked at Kyo and the others. "Get her out of here." said Shigure, looking at Tohru. Kyo and Yuki nodded, they took Tohru by the hand and they ran from the house.
They made it down the stairs of Shigure's house. Tohru sat on the stairs in shock. "Tohru, are you okay?" asked Kyo. No answer. Tohru has a dead-eyed look in her eyes. She couldn't hear him. "Tohru?" he asked worriedly.
Yuki knelt in front of her. "Ms. Honda. Are you okay? Are you hurt?" asked Yuki. Tohru still didn't answer. "Tohru!" yelled Kyo, grabbing her hand. She snapped out of it. She looked at both boys and she started to sob.
"I'm so sorry! None of this would be happening if I wasn't here. I should just go!" she yelled. Kyo looked at her in shock. "What? No! You can't leave." Tohru turned to Kyo. "Look at what me being here is doing!"
She looked at Yuki. "Look at what happened to Yuki! He's hurt! And you!" she said looking at Kyo with tears streaming down her face. "You almost got stabbed in the throat! I shouldn't be here anymore! All I ever do is bring harm to you!" she screamed. She took off running.
"Tohru!" yelled Kyo, running after her. Yuki chased after her as well. Tohru turned down an alley and she hid. Kyo and Yuki ran past her. Tohru sat against the wall and she fell, sobs shaking her.
"Dammit! Where the hell did she go!?" yelled Kyo angrily. "I'll try to call Uotani and Hanajima." said Yuki. "No, we can't bring them into this." said Kyo. Yuki looked at him. "We keep looking for her alone." Yuki sighed and nodded.
Tohru continued to cry and sob. She wiped her eyes and she looked at the sky. It was gray, threatening to rain any second. She stood up and she heard thunder boom and she started to feel the rain soak through her clothes.
She walked in the rain, down the familiar road and she found herself in the cemetery. She walked silently along the graves. She stopped at Kyoko's. She looked at the grave. "Mom, I need your help. I don't know what to do. I want to continue to protect the Zodiac. But I feel like my presence is a hassle and a burden on the Soma Family. I'm scared and I don't know what to do."
She continued to look at the grave. "I need help," she begged. She dropped to her knees and sobbed on her mother's grave. "Please mom, help me." she begged, as tears continued to fall.
"Dammit!" Kyo yelled in anger as he punched a wall. "Where the hell would she go!" he yelled. Yuki sighed and looked at Kyo. "She wouldn't be at her grandfather's. She wouldn't want to put him in danger." said Yuki.
Kyo growled out in anger. "This sucks. I just want to be free to love her and be with her without Akito hanging over my head!" Kyo yelled angrily. Yuki looked at him. "Not to anger you further, but I think something changed." Kyo looked at Yuki. "What the hell does that mean?" he asked.
Yuki looked at Kyo. "I think my bond with Akito has been severed," said Yuki. Kyo looked at him in shock. "What? Your bond broke? How?" he asked. Yuki shrugged. "I don't know. But it was a very strange feeling. Like a fog has lifted and I wasn't weighed down by the world anymore.``
"That explains why Akito lost it. She felt your bond sever and it pissed her off." Yuki nodded. "I think it broke when I chose Tohru over Akito." Kyo looked at him. "Do you love Tohru?" asked Kyo. Yuki looked at him. "Yes, but not in the same way as you."
"Ms. Honda is someone very special to me. She's my best friend and I would love to keep her in my life. But I don't love her romantically." Relief filled Kyo. "Kyo! Yuki!" called a voice. They turned and Momiji came running up.
"What are you doing here?" asked Kyo. "Yuki texted me and told me that Tohru took off. And that you were looking for her." Kyo looked at Yuki. Yuki rolled his eyes. "The more people look for her the better." Kyo rolled his eyes and looked away from Yuki.
"Any luck?" asked Momiji. Yuki shook his head. "We need to think. Where would she go to hide?" asked Yuki. It clicked for Kyo. He looked at Yuki. "I can't believe that we didn't think of it sooner." It clicked for Yuki. "Her mother." they both said.
Thunder boomed. Lightning struck. Rain pounded the earth. Tohru Honda was still sobbing over her mother's grave. She was lost and she didn't know what to do. Yuki, Momiji, and Kyo all made it to the cemetery.
They all stopped and looked at Tohru. Momiji and Yuki looked at Kyo and they backed away. He looked at them and Momiji egged him on to go to her. Kyo rolled his eyes and walked toward the girl.
"Tohru?" he asked gently. Tohru flinched. "Tohru, you are going to catch a cold in this rain. Come on, let's go home." he said gently. Tohru tightened her grip on her mother's grave. "No, I need to stay away from you." She said.
Kyo knelt behind her and put his hand on her back. "You don't need to stay away from me. You need to stay with me." He said. Tohru sat up and turned her head, tears streaming down her face.
"I need to stay away from you! From all of you! I only bring danger to the Soma Clan. And I can't be responsible for something terrible happening to any of you! Especially you Kyo! I can't let my love for you be a danger to your safety!"
She turned away from him. "I need to leave. I will go back to Shigure's and pack my stuff. I will go and stay with my family for a while. Just until graduation."
"This is crazy! You need to stay with us! That's where you belong. You belong in that house with us!" yelled Kyo. "I CAN'T KYO!" She screamed. Kyo looked taken aback. "I CAN'T BE THE REASON YOU DIE ONE DAY. I CAN'T DO IT! YOU WEREN'T THERE THAT DAY!" She screamed.
"That day that Akito was torturing me, she told me that I needed to stay away from you and not allow myself to love you because it was too dangerous to you. If I allowed myself to love you then that put your life in danger. Akito told me that if I stayed with you she would kill you. And I selfishly ignored her wishes. She almost killed you today. So I can't do that."
Kyo looked at her. "I can't love you, Kyo. I can't be responsible for your death." she stood up and she looked at him. "So we're done." she said, sobs shaking her. She walked away from him. "Tohru." she turned to look at him.
"Please. Stay with me." Tears filled her eyes. "I can't. Goodbye, Kyo." She said, she took off running in the rain. "Tohru! Come back! Tohru!" yelled Momiji as he and Yuki ran up to Kyo. Momiji looked at Kyo.
"What are you going to do, Kyo? Go after her!" yelled Momiji. Kyo looked at Momiji. "She doesn't want me to. We're done." he said, his bangs covering his eyes. "But you love her! And she loves you!" yelled Momiji.
"Shut up!" Momiji flinched. "Don't tell me what to do! I can't force her to be in a relationship that she doesn't want to be in! So screw this! I'm done with Tohru Honda!" he yelled angrily. He took off running in the opposite direction. Momiji looked at Yuki.
"What now Yuki?" asked Momiji. "Nothing. Let them work it out, themselves," he said, looking at the ground.
