DINNER TIME

Dany called the kids in for dinner and they all hurried inside excitedly. She watched as they one by one entered and sat around the dinner table. Lyanna sat closest to her mother whom she was still for some reason mesmerised by how beautiful she was every time she looked at her. She couldn't even believe that they were mother and daughter. The truth was even though labelled a great beauty, Lyanna didn't think she was very pretty compared to her mother and she was always jealous that Jai was the lucky one who had inherited her stand out features. Lya had always wanted her mother to pick them up from their schooling lessons in the village so that her friends could see how beautiful she was but, for some reason, her mother never did pick them up from school…

"Here we are… I hope you fussy lot think it's better than the last one I made…" Dany said as she brought the stew to the table.

Dany allowed the children to serve themselves while she of course helped Jai with his. Having been used to having her meals prepared for her by personal cooks… Dany had no idea how to cook and she had to admit that she wasn't the greatest but overtime, she eventually got better.

"How is it?" Dany asked.

The three children were scoffing their faces with the stew and so Dany smiled, taking that as a good sign.

"It's great!" Ed said through mouthfuls of stew.

"It smells great…" a voice said from the doorway.

"Papa!" Jai yelled out excitedly as he ran over to greet his father.

Dany smiled at her husband. A man of colour that was well built and strong. Dany had met Tai when she was heavily pregnant with her twins a few months after her resurrection and was stranded seeking refuge. At the time she looked like a homeless beggar woman who had nothing to offer and was only going to be a hindrance to the person who would offer her help. Dany was practically bald at the time as well as her hair had been burned in the fire so as to not give her away.

Tai had a kind heart and had allowed her to stay inside his home. He even helped her to give birth to her children as she didn't know of any nearby midwives. When he started practically being a father to her twins and such a kind gentleman to her, that's when she began to fall in love with him. They eventually married and had a child.

Tai was holding their son in his arms and walked over to Dany and bent down and kissed her. They needn't speak many words to each other. Their connection was strong even through silence.

After Dany had given birth, her beautiful silver hair had grown back and she had slowly begun to recover from whatever terrible state she had been in. Not only physically but mentally as well. Tai suddenly felt extremely lucky to have come across such a fair and stunning woman. Although they had been married for several years now and had a family together… Tai still felt as if he didn't truly know Dany… as if she were keeping something from him… his wife was at times painfully silent and had a manner to her that wasn't of a commoner… he had noticed that the first moment he had met her. He loved her though regardless and he loved their children.

BED TIME

After having a small catch up at the dinner table where everyone got to talk about their day… It eventually got late and it was time for bed.

Dany ensured that the kids were to wash up before bed. The cottage had three rooms. One that Dany and Tai shared. Another that Ed and Jai shared and another that Lya had to herself.

After Lyanna had used a clean rag to wash her face with water and had finished brushing her teeth, she went to her room that was across from her parents. She looked inside to see her mother sitting quietly on the bed… staring deeply into the flame of a candle.

Lya looked around oddly. Her mother often did this at night… go into strange trances… She walked closer to the door and was about to interrupt when Tai called her to the kitchen. Looking at her mother one last time as she still continued to stare into the flame… she turned to leave to the kitchen.

"It's better not to interrupt her when she gets like that…" Tai said with a kind smile.

"Why does she do it?" Lya whispered in a concerned way.

Tai sighed, placing his hands on his hips. Out of all the kids, he would say that he and Lyanna had the strongest bond. She thought of him as her father even though he clearly wasn't but that fact also didn't stop him from being there for her and Ed as a father whenever they were in need. He had raised them by Dany's side since their birth.

"Your mother has a lot of built up trauma from her past that I'm sure she will come to tell us one day."

Lya turned to look down the hall to where her mother was… still in that trance probably. She was curious to know why.

The three children loved their mother with all their hearts, especially Ed who was always protective. Jai who adored her and Lya who was overwhelmingly worried for her most of the time. Even though they loved her there was a void that all the children could sense. Their mother was different. Not like their friend's… she had this demeanour to her that was… strange… no, foreign… like she didn't quite fit in…

Lyanna went to bed lying awake that night as she stared blankly up at the ceiling with many thoughts running through her mind.

NIGHT TERRORS

Dany laid in bed asleep wrapped in Tai's arms. She began to toss and turn under the covers as visions of burning children invaded her mind. Their wails and cries pierced her ears and it felt haunting… She woke with a gasp with sweat on her brow. She turned to look at her sleeping husband next to her, grateful that she did not wake him.

Dany quietly crept out of his grasp and out of the bed. She tiptoed through the hallway and quietly opened the door to both of her children's bedrooms to quickly check on them. They were sleeping soundly. Dany smiled at their sleeping frames.

She walked outside of the house to get some much needed fresh air. The stars were shimmering and the moon shone marvellously. Dany walked a while until she reached the edge of a small cliff. She sat down and wrapped her arms around her knees looking across the sea where she once said goodbye to her old life many many years ago.

It was at this spot at this time where she often pondered, thinking about her old friends and family. Drogo, Jorah, Missandei, Barristan, Doreah, Irri, Viserys… Tyrion… Jon… It felt weird like she had known them a lifetime ago but yet it still broke her heart and made her weep every time.

Dany looked towards the distance where she squinted to see a faint outline of a dragon flying being covered by the night clouds.

"Drogon…" she whispered.

The dragon shrieked and it could only very faintly be heard from where she was. Dany let tears flood her eyes. She had missed her dragon dearly… but she couldn't ever mount him again. Drogon missed her too… for years she had sensed that he was always nearby and for years she had told him never to come and visit… it was painful to do so… for the both of them.

"Mama?"

Dany turned around to see her daughter wrapped in a blanket standing a few metres away from her.

"What is it, my love?" Dany asked her in a rich and almost formal tone that she spoke with naturally. She was still a queen at heart.

"I heard you wake up… what are you doing out here?"

Dany smiled sweetly at her child's concern for her. She looked so much like her father yet so much like her at the same time.

"I couldn't sleep so I have just come outside for some fresh air. Go back to bed, you have to attend your lessons tomorrow."

Lyanna sighed. Her mother often brushed her off…

"Do you think it's following us?" Lyanna asked her mother.

Dany looked at her curiously.

"The beast… I hear it at night… it's always circling the skies in the distance across the sea… It never leaves…" Lya said as she pointed to the faint outline of Drogon. "I'm afraid that it might come to eat us one day or burn us alive…"

Dany quietly laughed. Lya looked at her oddly oblivious to knowing who the dragon was. All the children at school thought it was exciting that the flying beast was a frequent visitor but it only frightened Lya knowing that it was nearby and could destroy the village any time it wanted.

"He's alright my sweet, he won't hurt us…"

"How do you know?" Lya asked.

"I just know." Dany finished turning to look back at Drogon. "Now head back inside please."

Lyanna bit her lip. She wanted to stay with her mother who always seemed so sad… before turning to do as she was told, she walked up to Dany and wrapped the blanket she had brought with her over her mother's shoulders seeing as there was a slight chill in the air.

Dany turned back to smile at her as Lya wrapped her arms around her neck.

"I love you mama…" she quietly said.

Dany returned the embrace and kissed her forehead before deciding to return to the house together.
