Daenerys leaned her forehead against Drogon's as tears streamed down from her eyes. She ran her hand soothingly against his scales and sobbed at having been reunited with her oldest son after a long and hard decade of being apart.

Ed was quiet and bewildered. Jai was petrified and Lyanna… she looked as though she had come to discover a horrifying and shocking truth… She put the pieces together pretty fast though. Her mother was a Targaryen… Daenerys Targaryen! At first she thought Arya was lying and that she was just trying to manipulate her but… this was proof right before her eyes… Her mother was the Mad Queen who had burnt Kings Landing… she was the one who burnt children… her mother had lied to her all this time… she was a complete stranger all along…

Lyanna stepped back as she looked on at her mother interacting with the dragon, feeling completely and utterly betrayed. Ed and Jai hadn't figured it out yet, but Lya had, and she was silently beginning to become overwhelmed with anger, hatred, fear and confusion on top of all the other emotions she was feeling… she didn't understand a thing… Why had her mother lied to them?

Dany turned around to look at her children… her abnormal silver hair shone brilliantly under the moonlight and her eyes glowed with authority, they all got a shock… she didn't look like their sweet and caring mother she normally was. She looked like a woman in power. A woman who was meant to rule… a conqueror… a Queen… It was terrifying how much she had changed in mere minutes…

Lya's lip quivered at the sight of her and her heart was racing. She now prayed more than ever that this was just a dream that she would wake up from any time now. She literally had to pinch herself in order to believe that this all was truly happening.

"Come here." Dany said in an ordering tone.

Lyanna cried just hearing how her entire voice and demeanour had changed in an accent was pure western… the one she used to have was just a feign… Who was this woman? Where was her mother?

"Lyanna, Eddard and Jaehaerys, come here. Now." Dany spoke firmly to them.

Lya stood planted where she was, scared yet angry while Jai and Ed slowly walked over to their mother feeling afraid and intimidated by her as they were ordered to do so. They had always respected her orders, she was their mother so of course they did… but now… it was like they were obedient to her every command… like they had no control over their choices and actions. It was frightening.

Dany looked at her daughter quite annoyed seeing that she wasn't listening to her but understood how this was all too much and a lot to handle. She had to act fast though and didn't have time for a heart to heart and meaningful conversation right now. That was the only reason why she was being so very stern and out of motherly character. It was for their own good.

The two boys stopped and flinched backwards when the dragon manoeuvred its neck to get a better view of the two of them.

"Don't be afraid… Come and meet your brother." Dany said to them, easing up a bit, reaching out her arm to encourage them to join her.

Ed hesitated, reluctant to move while Jai nervously stepped forward to do as he was told. Dany was about to grab his hand when Lya was suddenly by his side and to Dany's great shock, smacked her mother's hand away.

"Don't go near them…" Lyanna said hotly, grabbing her little brother and pulling him away from their mother and the dragon. She had somewhat of a newfound bravery that had all of a sudden ignited inside of her. "We don't know what her intentions are…"

Dany looked at her daughter, taken completely aback. She could have cried on the spot at seeing her daughter look at her with such disgust, distrust and hatred…

"What are you talking about?" Dany questioned, remaining calm yet still stern.

Lya dared to glare at her mother, a look she hardly ever gave her, her breathing became shaky as nerves crept up her spine.

"You're her… you're the one they always talk about…" Lya gulped before she would say it… "You're the mad queen…"

At that Dany felt tears begin to well in her eyes as all three of her children looked at her as if she were a complete stranger… as if she hadn't raised them or birthed them… as if they no longer knew who she was… They were… scared of her… their faces were covered in fear.

Lyanna was secretly crossing her fingers and hoping to the gods that her mother would deny it all… but she didn't… After a moment of silence, Dany cleared her throat trying to find the right words.

"There's… there's a lot that I wish to explain to you all… a lot of complicated things that you wouldn't understand…" Dany reluctantly began. She didn't want to have this conversation right now… but her daughter had given her no choice.

"I understand plenty…" interrupted Lyanna in a spiteful tone, tears in her eyes. "You murdered innocent citizens… you burned little children alive…"

Dany looked on at her with a lump in her throat at being directly confronted about it by her own blood, her own child. She wasn't at all proud of what she had done in the past… and she wasn't ever intending for her children to ever find out about it… but she wasn't going to deny it… or lie to them any longer… Dany straightened up and smoothed out her dress. She then clasped her hands together and stood up tall. Drogon perched strong and mighty behind her, it looked terrifying. The three children shivered at seeing the scene… afraid that their mother might do something terrible to them… just as she had done all those years back in Kings Landing…

"My name is Daenerys of House Targaryen. Rightful Queen of the Seven Kingdoms and the Mother of Dragons. You, my children, are of House Targaryen. Princes and Princess of Dragonstone…."

The three children looked on at their mother in shock waiting for it all not to be real… however… it was real… this was well and truly happening…

"I've done a lot of things in my past. Things that no Lyanna, you most definitely would not understand." Dany said harshly, causing her daughter to pout. "I'm not proud of a lot of my actions and I do have many regrets and uncertainties… but there is one thing that I am certain of… I am your mother… and you are my children and it is my job to keep the three of you safe… so that is exactly what I am going to do."

After a short moment of surreal silence as all three children were now crying and left heartbroken and baffled… They didn't know what to say to her let alone what to think. They had been lied to their whole lives…

All five of them including Drogon looked to the distant village as voices could be heard… Many voices and many lit torches were coming nearer and nearer, drawn to the loud sounds and terrors of the night that came from where they were standing. Lyanna had to second question whether or not to scream for help.

"There is no time for all of this… I need you to trust me…" Dany hastily said. "I need you all to get on Drogon now."

Before any of them could question her or protest, she quickly reached out for Jai and lifted him up to the dragon and he started screaming wildly in her arms. Lya and Ed looked on shouting out as their hearts skipped a beat thinking that their mother was going to feed him to her beast…

"No mama please! Please don't hurt him! Help! Help!" The twins screamed as they prepared themselves for the worst to come…

They held onto each other's hands tightly while looking on in terror. It looked as if their mother was going to feed their brother to the dragon but she didn't… the dragon leaned his shoulder down so that Jai could climb on.

The small boy, though terrified and in tears, settled as the dragon calmly allowed him to mount him. Dany stroked her youngest son's silver/dark Targaryen hair and leaned her forehead against his, wrapping her arm around his shoulders and kissing his cheek.

"Shhh…" she whispered to him trying to calm him down. Jai hesitantly leaned into her, finding comfort in her. Although he had just come to discover who his mother truly was, she was still his mother at heart. "He won't ever hurt you my love. You can trust him."

Jai shyly nodded and then gently petted the beast's neck. Drogon seemed to enjoy it. They immediately had a connection Dany could feel.

"That's it… see he likes you…" Dany said as she placed her own palm over the small boy's hand. It brought her a small joy to see the smallest smile appear on her son's face after all he had been through tonight. "You've been so brave… Papa would be proud…" she said to him.

Dany smiled and then looked back at her other two children who were scared and not at all keen to mount the dragon. Dany stepped down from Drogon after assuring Jai that he would be safe and walked over to them both. They looked up at her with fear and Ed grabbed his sister's hand as she came to be within inches of them.

Dany stopped still, staring down at them both and the way they looked right now. They were scared… utterly petrified and shaken. She held out her hand for them… waiting for them to take it… but both no longer felt safe… Dany pouted at the pale looks on their faces as they didn't know what to do. The distrust and look of betrayal in their eyes… It brought Dany, their mother, great sadness.

"Do you both resent me now?" Dany asked. She wanted to cry but she didn't want to break her composure. "I'm your mother. I love you both so much. I promise I never… never intended to hurt you or lose your trust…" Dany's voice was getting shallower and shallower, shrinking into a sympathetic whisper.

The voices of the distrubed villagers were getting louder and they could now see them almost at the cottage.

Dany turned back now crying, unable to hold back her tears. She knelt down to their level and grabbed both of their hands no matter how uncomfortable they may have felt. She took a deep and quivering breath, unable to believe what she was about to do.

"You both mean the world to me. You are my world…" Dany said hardly able to contain her emotions. "I love you both so very much… and… and I only want to keep you two safe. That is why you must leave now. Bad people will be coming for us and I don't want you to ever, ever pay for my crimes."

Lya and Ed looked on at her curiously and frightened as they too joined their mother in not being able to hold back their tears.

"Please… I need for you both to trust me and get on Drogon. I promise you that you will be safe. He will protect you."

As their mother continued to speak… in a voice that was so broken and afraid… Lya began to recognise a small part of her mother behind the mad queen, Daenerys Targaryen's eyes… but it wasn't enough to earn her trust again or bring her peace of mind.

Dany didn't care how they felt about her anymore. She grabbed them both and pulled them into her embrace. To her surprise, her oldest, Eddard, hugged her tightly back returning her kisses and cuddles while Lyanna felt her arms were too heavy to bring up to hug her mother back. She looked into space unable to look Dany in the eye… or return any such love back. Tears welled in her eyes and Dany could sense her being standoffish but didn't blame her one bit.

Dany gently caressed Lya's cheek leaning her forehead against hers.

"I love you. I love you both… and I'm so sorry my love…" Dany said. She pressed her lips to her daughter's temple and then stepped back from them.

"Drogon…" Dany called.

The dragon in a slow and gentle manor came to her call. Ed and Lya immediately stepped backwards but Dany grabbed hold of their hands. They both were scared but knew they had no choice now.

Dany assisted them both and was relieved when they didn't retaliate or fight against her. As Ed climbed on, he looked the dragon in the eye and gulped. He instantly knew that he could trust the creature… It was such a strange feeling. Lya didn't dare look or even think about the beast… she quickly followed her brother right on his heels and sat behind him wrapping her arms around his waist and shutting her eyes tightly. Once they were all seated securely, and Ed made a space for his mother to climb on, Dany sadly smiled and then stepped down from the dragon.

"MAMA!" Ed shouted. He attempted to climb down but Drogon manoeuvred himself so that he wouldn't be able to.

"You're not coming with us!?" Jai shouted in question.

Lya kept her eyes shut the entire time… burying her face into her brother's back.

"I've spent ten years living a life of peace and pure joy… those ten years were the best years of my life. I was blessed to be able to raise you all into the wonderful children you have become… but now… I must truly pay for my crimes so that you will never have to." Dany said.

"You are Targaryen's… blood of the dragon… but… you are also Starks… Starks of Winterfell." Dany looked up into her children's eyes with a plea to trust in what she was saying. "Your father will protect you. I know it with everything I have. He's the only person in the world who I trust you to stay with other than myself."

"No mama please!" Both Ed and Jai shouted with sadness. Lya stayed silent.

Dany looked down sadly… this had to happen. It must be done.

"Don't be afraid. I am proud of all three of you… and… I need for you to always know that…I love you…" As Dany said that, she looked directly at her daughter. Oh how she wished she could be saying goodbye to her under different circumstances. She wiped a tear from her eye.

"Fly." Dany faintly said in valyrian.

Drogon listened and obeyed. He made to soar and the children began to scream out for her, holding on tightly to his horns as he carefully ascended to the skies. Soon they were thirty feet in the air and Lya found herself opening her tearful eyes slightly and looking back down at their mother who was slowly becoming nothing but a spec. They could see the glowing fires from the villagers' torches and watched the scene unfold as their mother surrendered herself to the villagers all being led by none other than her… the woman who had caused all of this disruption… Arya Stark… until there was nothing but the clouds.
