A different kind of anomaly chapter 1
"This will be the final time I am going to clean up this shithole." J-85218 groaned while mopping up a blood-soaked floor. "How could a simple breach become such a big deal?"
A few months ago, there was a breach in containment at site-19 and has spiraled into a 4-month problem. Ever since, teams of Janitors have been deployed to clean up the aftermath of the breach. While the majority of the teams were deployed in the light containment zone, a squad of four who split up, including J-85218, was sent into the heavy containment zone. which was still in the process of being secured by the MTF.
"Finally, I can begin cleaning the maintenance tunnels." J-85218 sighed in relief, knowing that his work for the day is coming to an end. As he approached the maintenance tunnel elevator, he suddenly felt a shiver down his back. "I always hated going down here. "After coming across that thing, I can never look at that place the same again." he murmurs as he enters the elevator.
After a while of walking through the maintenance tunnels and cleaning up anything he sees, he suddenly hears footsteps. "Huh? Who's there?" He shouted while running towards the footsteps."Hey! Where are you going?!"
After a while of running towards the footsteps, J-85218 stops and hides behind a corner. "Who the hell could be down here?!" J-85218 groaned faintly.
J-85218 looks around the corner to find the Rivulet walking around the maintenance tunnels. "What the? The hell is that?" J-85218 questioned silently before pulling out his walkie-talkie.
"Is this J-21321?" J-85218 asked "yes" J-21321 replied "are you ok? Is something wrong?"
"Did the MTF clear the maintenance tunnels already?" J-85218 questioned "no? Did you find something?" J-21321 asked puzzled "I did find something, and I don't even know what it is."
"What does it look like?" J-21321 asked. "it looks like some sort of cat but.. Weird" J-85218 replied. "Try and interact with it and see if it friendly" J-21321 said. "Ok" J-85218 sighed before turning the corner and walking slowly towards the rivulet. "Hello there.. Thing?" J-85218 asked cautiously.
Apon hearing J-85218, the rivulet jumps in fear before scurrying away, running farther into the maintenance tunnels. "Hey! Where are you going!" J-85218 shouts before running after the rivulet. "I don't want to hurt you! Come back!"
After a while of playing cat and mouse, the rivulet backs themselves into a corner. "Nowhere to run now! Now calm down!" J-85218 said out of breath. "I just want to know who you are!"
The rivulet calms down and slightly moves towards J-85218, tilting their head in curiosity. "You know you're not supposed to be here.. Right?" J-85218 asked. "If the MTF finds you they are going to contain you!"
Apon the rivulet hearing that they will be contained if they were to be found, the rivulet shrieked in fear before hugging J-85218 tightly. "What are you.." J-85218 said, surprised by the sudden hug.
"Hey! It's ok! I am here for you!" J-85218 cooed, patting rivulet's head. "I'll get you out of here!"
The rivulet starts purring as they hug J-85218. Digging their head into J-85218's chest. "Aww, you're kind of cute" J-85218 blushed slightly, turning away to hide their face. "N-not like romantically o-of course."
"Now how about we get out of here" J-85218 chuckled before putting the rivulet on their back. "Don't worry, I will protect you until you're safely out of the facility"
