12. Chapter 11 the coast

We're ready for chapter 11 I want to clarify, that there's another age jump in this chapter another two-year jump I didn't get to clarify that in the last chapter, I don't think I can't remember in Smart Cookie I can't remember if I did or not, but I'm gonna clarify a couple of things, especially age jumps the reason I do these age jumps is so that we can see where everybody is in their ages I won't be paying attention to that. Once we get to the main plot of the story I mean this is the main plot but what I mean is the part of the story when well when all the things happen in game three that's what I meant to say.

so here are the age jumps, at least for two main characters, not our main villain, but our main two hero characters are two protagonists this is another two-year jump from the last chapter well, not for the last chapter but for clarification.

Scarlett is now 11 and Luther is about 56 around that time. That's I think that's correct so this is a chapter where they can relax and hang out at the beach kind of thing they're not on the road stressing to travel at the moment but they will travel again.

I want to clarify that the story will do a lot of age jumping especially when we get to the main point of the story in certain parts so we had to age jump up a lot Luther is 11 but we haven't gotten that far yet, but we're getting there that's why there's a lot of fill-in chapters like this but I hope you enjoy all right enjoy their aged up to five and 11 or is it six and 11 I'm not sure I know Scarlett 11. I don't think that's correct though because there's no way he could've made all that stuff that young, but it's fanfiction so yeah I hope I have these ages, correct?

I don't want to clarify that this is a Scarlet chapter so now that we have the ideas of age, I think we can go ahead and get back into it all right here's chapter 11 the coast

scarlets POV

we finally made it to another destination, even further than where we were before we did a lot of traveling to get here and it's been two years since we've been here for that long too. We've been here for another two we were going to travel again, but Mama, Helena, and Father Julius thought it would be fine if we just stayed here on the coast for a while no one's gonna find us here. Do you think we can stay here for another few years at least another two he said, oh well OK I guess that's fine. I'm a Helena said.

I guess we'll make like make time for a new life here he said, and it will be good for the children for them to take a breather from traveling for a while mama Helena said and I too can stay here for another year, at least as the plan for Julia said I'm planning on staying here another at least another year and educate our children at least somewhat so they're not dumb. Our son is smart to Julius said Father Julius yes overheard Helen Helena say back both our children are pretty smart Scarlett even more it's hard to keep her in a school because of it, I can't believe she's gonna be 11. I know gonna be at least five older than that 67 at least that's true but smart so young I know one so young the Vorias are already monitoring us. That's not good mama Helena that is not good at all they're already keeping tabs on us not just us, but all human life is going to change sooner or later, and traveling with this freely like this is not gonna be ideal.

change in our living situation and our lifestyle I don't like the idea of change neither did Mama Helena that much our life is going to change. I don't like our life-changing and already changed so much traveling like this and then changing later just because the Orion empire is watching us.

maybe we should take our mind off of it to Mama Helena and celebrate Scarlett's 11th birthday we don't have a lot to celebrate with just like the last times. I just wanna make it a little special for her if our lies are gonna change soon it'll be our last time being like this.

where are all the children they're outside playing at least I think they are. They didn't know I was listening. I went back out to play. But there was a lot on my mind apparently, but I took my mind off it by playing and practicing my magic. I had a sparring partner now he was old enough now, and he was eager to learn which was great, but he had no magic of his own yet or did you go? He wondered, I was, I don't know I thought you were gone. I didn't go very far I just went back to the house and said oh I thought you disappeared on me how could I disappear unless we're playing hide and seek I said, and we're not playing hide and seek right now.

we continued our game there weren't that many places to hide in the little area we were staying in it's time to come in now Mama Helena called for us to come. We ran back inside with model one on our heels.

What is it it's time for dinner one and what were y'all doing? Playing in our old favorite game we both said in unison hide and seek. Aren't you getting a little old for that Scarlet no you never are too young you played with me when I was little so what would be the point I mean what would be the problem with me playing it now because you're turning 11 Are you are 11 and you need to start being like a lady soon? Oh, come on.

come on dear, said Father Julius let the children still be children for a while. Besides, they only get to be children once let them be children and be clueless for a while. Yeah, of course, she would say that Mama Helena said fine. You can be children for now don't worry you don't panic when you have to grow up sooner than you think, I know I know too don't worry we'll know to grow up when the time comes I said you don't need to worry about that. This is one of those rare opportunities where we can be ourselves for a while.

all right then send Mom Helena. I want you to be children for another year or so. At least you Scarlet with her I don't have to worry about it right now but you're getting older you're gonna be a teenager in two more years Scarlet you have to start acting like one and I'll have to have you babysit him more, you'll have that responsibility but I'm blind how am I going to? It won't be that hard you know he's always usually a good kid not knowing this yes I know I know how good of a kid he is.

you'll get ready for bed now or get ready for dinner I meant sorry it washed up. I worry about them. Sometimes I know to send Mama Julius to fuck Mama's mother, Helen, and father Julius crap said they said it the same time. Anyway, I worry about our children too, she said again, also worried that might see his progress. What does that mean? Meaning he'll single our family out in some way and that won't be good either.

we'll have to move again. I know that but it won't be a while. It'll be another year before. We'll move again. We're gonna move yearly now. Yes, I think it'll be easier that way. Two years is too long to spend somewhere. I think we should move more times now a year at a time would be the best, that would be very difficult. It doesn't matter. We don't have a lot anyway so we can move one year at a time now we can find a place to settle. We probably never settle and that might be the case but I'm hoping we will settle somewhere.

I hope we do too, for the kid's sake the grown-ups were talking I listened in even though I know I wasn't supposed to, but anything that would benefit us as a family the four of us, me, mama, Helena, father, Julius, and Luther what would first benefit us the most right now if traveling more than twice a year would be beneficial, but we couldn't spend more than a year in a place which means we can't make friends and didn't big deal cause we're only here for two years already but I hear them talking and I shouldn't. I know, listening in is not a good habit to start having.

how are you supposed to hurt understand things if you don't hurry off to my room as I walked past his room I waved at him. He walked over to me, so what was going on he asked what took you so long to get up there.

Well, I was listening to Mama Helena and Father Julius. I said what about your mom and dad talking about about how we're not gonna be spending more than one year in a place now why I'm not going into all those details I shouldn't have been eavesdropping in the first place, I think we should just enjoy ourselves here for a while while we're here on the coast for a bit. I did hear them talking about something for my 13th birthday though or not 13th but 11th birthday. Sorry, I'm just ahead of myself yeah I guess you are what about it, I mean you know I'm turning 11. I know you are.

and I'm turning seven I know but it's been so I wasn't so long ago when I held you when you were just a baby, I said my little rain of sunshine. I remember you seeing me that lullaby, the Count of Muffy song I said we're getting too old for such childish lullabies. It might be useful again, one day, what are you hinting at? I don't know.

no, we should enjoy ourselves for a while. That sounds like a good idea the grown-ups worry about grown-up things for now try and enjoy ourselves as children I won't be a child much longer and I'll be a teenager so we need to enjoy it while we can.

Bring him at the worries in the world right now. Let us focus on things that we can control like like what Mama Helena and Father Julius want us to do like cleaning up for dinner yeah what are you doing there? Can I see after dinner he said.

I hold it to you all right then you hold it to me and I owe you. I owe you more than you owe me as we walked down the stairs back downstairs to the kitchen y'all washed up Helena asked yes we both say it once good let's eat.

We sat down and started eating our dinner, and we had conversation well not much conversation, but a little but lots of eating we didn't have much, and the food was OK mama Helena is always a great cook so that helped with the little food we had with us. We dare not fish in the oceans because they're plasma seeds and we don't eat the life in them.

it would make me sick. I wish that could be just like this all the time quiet like this mama Helena said no traveling we could just settle here you know we can't father Julius said we have to keep traveling.

Staying in one place makes us too much of a target. I know she said I just wish we could just settle in one place and raise our children. I know I know he said taking her hand. I know you wish that dear but we can't do that right now.

after cleanup, we got things cleaned up and settled. It was time to go to bed and that's what we did. It was bedtime now it was nightfall we went up to our rooms and said good night to one another. We'll play again tomorrow. Yes of course but Mama Helena also wants us to study too. I know that we study and then we'll play. Sounds good to me, he was at a bar like we did yesterday today. That sounds like fun. No running around and playing like we did yesterday, we dedicated all morning to sparring and learning fighting technique, mostly physical sparring, because magical sparring was out right now I'd have the magical advantage and it wouldn't be fair and I didn't want to hurt him but I decided to use a little fire magic dodging magic went bad, but he kept getting injured. It was hilarious too.

sorry, I didn't mean to laugh. I said it shouldn't be funny that you get hurt. I'm laughing too. He said I know you're not trying to hurt me on purpose. I need to try my best and not try that if the sea wasn't plasmas, we could swim in it I know that would be nice wouldn't it but it's dangerous I'll look I didn't know there was another family here they vacationing. I don't know what to ask Mama, Helena, and Father Julius about that, but they look about our age maybe a little older we can make new friends that would be nice and we wouldn't have to be out here just to play just the two of us. Yeah, let's give it a try.

OK, we walked over to them and introduced ourselves. Oh, you're the new family that has a little pop-up house. The girls said neat. The guy said it looks cool yeah we take it everywhere we go I said I'm going and this is Jace and I know you introduced yourselves. Yes, I said I'm Scarlet and this is Luther, we live in the little pop-up house. I was wondering if you wanna come over some time that would be great. Are you both related completely? Not really I can tell you both don't look alike I'm under guardianship of his fault of his mother and father I said oh, mean, like adopted, not quite more like protection it's a different situation makes sense. I guess said Quinn well.

maybe we can go shell hunting early and tomorrow morning oh that sounds like fun. I don't know what we'll do with our shells, but yeah, would be glad to do that in the morning that would be fun.

We'd have to get up super early yes because before then all the good shells are gone so I'm getting washed back out to see when they are covered in the plasma. Yeah, but you'd have to wash them off and water them. Are you sure it's not real water that we're not near I mean the plasma seas are not that far away, but are you sure this is them? You could test the water if you'd like might be just regular salt water and a scoop some up I didn't feel like plasma and I could touch and it didn't bother my hands. I guess you're right this is like regular salt water.

OK, then we will go shell hunting with you in the morning what are y'all gonna do this afternoon? We got studies I said we only get this little bit of morning to play. His parents have the tutor because we aren't gonna be enrolled in any kind of school because we travel a lot getting us into a school and then leaving is difficult. I bet I guess I would we would say good luck on that I guess.

are you human? Yes, Quinn said we're human you know that Luther's right makes sense you do look human but you don't Scarlet I mean you do but you don't you're a natural yeah so a human family took in a natural pretty much I said. But it doesn't make sense either. What do you mean by that I mean usually we don't families don't adopt others it's rare.

well, I don't have a mother and my father was absent so I left my brother to hurt me mama Helena took me in and said to be my guardian oh OK weird but OK, and then I just got attached to their son Is that why you stay not I mean part of it but not all of it. The other half is because I don't wanna see my brother again. He hurt me.

well, we'll see you in the morning all right then I said as we left, I went back on the side for lunch and our lessons, and we spent mostly the afternoon doing that. Did y'all have a great time outside? We did and we met new friends good said Helena mama Helena patted us on the head each a boy and a girl a little older than us but they're nice. They're one of the families that don't live that far said Mama Helena we saw your father Julius and I watched U2 outside Interact with those kids that's good you need to interact with other children at least for a while while we're in a place for making friends I know You have to forget about them in a year like I did with Claire. Claire is fine.

that's good at least she knows I know she's fine who are the kids' mama? Helena asked Jason Gwen I don't know their last names. Oh right I think that their last name is now L I don't know exactly how to pronounce their name. I met their parents once they'd be good kids to hang out with what are they did do with you they asked if they wanted us to go trail hunting tomorrow oh sounds like fun if you get closer I can invite them to your 11th birthday party. he started our lessons, but they were not very we did well I guess now you will be up to speed at least. She said it was fun I guess doing them but it was lessons, so what are you expected to be like we did that all afternoon it did make the afternoon go faster you learn different things going through everything would be boring afterward we got ready to have lunch have dinner again you can go play after out for a little bit while we get dinner ready you deserve it for doing such a great job today all right we both said as we walked out the house we got a little time to play for a bit before we eat. What do you wanna do? I don't know.

I guess we decided to run around for a bit. Our new friends weren't out right now, but that was OK. We had fun just the two of us.

What are you fiddling with? Just got here what is that pocket watch pocket watch? What are you doing with one of those? I don't know. It just showed up here just now. Have to figure out why it's here in our home. We'll figure that out. He said first let's go back in. I think it's getting late right course. Do you have this feeling that you could be watched yes I have that feeling right now.

I didn't know it but they were being watched not by Scarlett's brother but by someone else this creepy feeling I felt I said was creepy. Let's go in. Yes, I agree.

Let us get some rest let's eat some dinner and get rested. We might feel better after that so we gotta get up early tomorrow if we're gonna be up in time to go collect shells. Yes, let us do that.

I think 18 pages is enough for this chapter. The next chapter will be them collecting shells. I want to split it into two because I think it would be better two stories on the coast I think would be great. Besides, there's Scarlett's birthday party I just think it would be best to do it in two chapters. I might do it in three or the party might be a separate chapter but we'll see, see you in the next one next time on friend info.
