Nikolas's POV
Nikolas and Ava had been planning this Christmas party for months and he prayed things would go off without a hitch. Ever since his and Ava's talk things had been great, Spencer had finally introduced them to his girlfriend Trina. Nikolas felt bad that he hasn't reached out to check on Lulu lately, he'd just been so busy with preparations and daily life.
"That's no excuse Nikolas." He shakes his head, guilt washing over him.
"You've got a visitor." Ava smiled appearing in the doorway of his study.
"Do I?" Nikolas asked, surprised.
"Hi Nikolas." His baby sister shuffled into the room, a light smile gracing her face.
"Lulu! It's so...good to see you!" Nikolas immediately rose from his seat, pulling out a chair for her to sit in.
"Always a gentleman. I...trust he's treating-You well?" Lulu forced her words out, the slur in her speech was more evident today.
"Of course. I could just murder the man who shot you and put you in that coma. How are you doing, honey?" Ava asked, sympathy deep in her voice.
"I am...here. I'm trying to get back to... my-my-my...ME. I sound like an idiot." Lulu was quickly getting agitated, nikolas knew that she was struggling with her condition.
"How are your movements? Are they delayed as well?" He asked, squeezing her hand.
"They are...delayed." she answers.
"I'll call the hospital, they need to get you scheduled for speech and physical therapy. They should have done that when you got out of the hospital. That was irresponsible on their part." Nikolas made a mental note, shaking his head. Who exactly was running the hospital now?
"You don't have to feel bad abou-about not calling me. I'm awake. You have a life." Lulu gives him a knowing look.
"How are things? I know I don't have to but, you're my baby sister. You're important to me." Nikolas knew she was frustrated but, other than that she looked happy.
"Johnny got out, he's been take-taking care of us." Lulu filled him in.
"I know that makes you happy, that's all I've ever wanted for you. Thank you for coming to see me Lulu. It's been too long. Are you three coming to the party?" Nikolas allowed to himself to smile, he has been afraid that Lulu would be in a coma for longer. He thanked God that she was awake.
"I'm not going to break, nikolas." Lulu gives him a pointed look.
"I know that." Nikolas nodded.
"By the way, where exactly is mom?" Laura had been here before she'd lapsed into a coma.
"I don't know, she just disappeared after you went into the coma. I've called her but, she hasn't even returned one of my calls. I hope our mother is okay." Nikolas had been calling Laura everyday for almost two years, he felt something was up but his guys hadn't been able to find anything.
"That's...strange." Lulu agreed, worried.
"Your guys still haven't found anything?" Ava asked from the doorway.
"Not one single thing." Nikolas shakes his head.
"Maybe she needed a break?" Lulu weakly suggested, not believing it as the words fell out of her mouth.
"I don't think you believe that anymore than I do. After the holidays I'm going to search for her myself." Nikolas vowed.
"I wish you luck. I...have to get going before it gets dark. I can't really see that well." Lulu stands up from the couch, looking tired.
"Are you sure? I could drive you." Ava looked at her, concerned.
"I'm okay, I promise." Lulu gave both of them a smile, hugging both Nikolas and Ava.
"Don't be a stranger, I'd like to get to know you more." Ava pulled back to look at her.
"I'd like that." Lulu smiled at her, before walking out of the door.
"It was good seeing her." Nikolas smiled, standing up from his seat and going over to his wife.
"I know you've been feeling guilty, I called her. I hope they will come to the party." Ava wanted to get to know his family better.
"I'm sure they will, I am concerned for her. It seems like she gets tired very easily, her motor skills aren't what they used to be." Nikolas frowned.
"Nikolas, she was in a coma for almost three years, it's going to take some time. I think she's doing very well for what she's been through." Ava frowned at her husband.
"You're right, you're right. I need to call the doctors and get her therapy." Nikolas pulled out his phone and dialed Elizabeth's number.
"Hello?" Elizabeth answered, not checking to see who it was.
"Hello Elizabeth, it's Nikolas. Is now a good time?" Nikolas noted that she sounded busy.
"Of course. Is everything okay?" Elizabeth asked.
"Ever since Lulu woke up from her coma her motor skills aren't what they used to be, I wanted to get her set up with rehabilitation." Nikolas sighed hearing papers being shuffled in the background.
"I'll talk to Finn and call you right back, I'll take care of it." Elizabeth promised him.
"Thank you, Elizabeth." He knew he could count on her.
"You're welcome." They hung up the phone, nikolas breathed a sigh of relief.
Lulu's POV
After rowing back to civilization I was clearly winded, I tripped getting off the pier but I brushed it off as I started my car.
"Please let me make it home in one piece." I sighed, begining the drive back to the house. I made it home without much incident, I stumbled into the house seeing Johnny in the kitchen.
"Hey babygirl." Johnny pecked her on the lips.
"Hey." I sighed, tired.
"I could have driven you to your brother's, you know." Johnny looked over her features.
"I know. Nik is going to, um, get me rehabilitation." Lulu slurred her words, just wanting to sleep.
"That's good, I know you're frustrated with how things are right now. I just want you to know that you're the same beautiful, tough as nails, kind hearted woman I met all those years ago. I love you always, I know you'll get through this like you always do." Johnny pushed her hair back from her face, tears sprung to Lulu's eyes.
"I love you." Lulu and Johnny walked upstairs to take a nap, enjoying each other's company.
