Had to think hard on this chapter, second guessing myself and whatnots. How Teamworks works.
Late at night when the village sleeps and only the night creatures, ground and sky, are the ones out and about. The grave yard shift stood at half alert at the wall and entrances, standing guard and trying to stay awake. Keyword: trying. The shinobis at the check in stations amuse themselves with a game of poker for cash as they know they have to stay awake to either win or make sure the other does not cheat. The shinobis are too into their game to notice 2 figures appear however they did hear scratching noise and turned to see no one there. So shrugging and returning to their game, they failed to look at the log in book and see 2 more names added.
The 2 figures both went their own ways.
Door creaked open and closed, a thumped sounded with feet shuffling to get their shoes off. A sigh echoed silently off the apartment walls and feet dragging to the room and stilled. Riffling through clothes and undressing could be heard but no one was awake to hear it nor seen anything. Finally a yawn and bed creaked as they crawled into bed, slipping an arm around a waist and tail wrapping itself around a leg. Another sigh and sleep claimed the late night visitor.
OOOOO
Naruto awoke to find himself wrapped around another body, his hand on a hip as the other one arm held a body close. Cracking open an eye, Naruto sees a head of black hair and assumes its Sasuke and so closed his eyes. But when the hip his hand is on moved and the one he's holding in his arms didn't, Naruto open both eyes and looked down.
Roxanne slept nestled in the warmth of Naruto's arms whereas Sasuke curled behind Roxanne and that's where Naruto's hand lays. Eyes closed once again, Naruto sighs and dreads getting up but with the sun up and leaking in the room, he knows it's time to get up. Sighing once and a slight squeeze of Roxanne, Naruto grudgingly slips away and sits up. Roxanne twitch once and grabs Naruto's pillow but doesn't wake. Smiling, Naruto watched Roxanne and Sasuke sleep for a bit before stretching the kinks out and yawning. Standing up and walking out of the room, Naruto grab the overnight bag he brought over from last night and made his way to the bathroom.
Once the door clicked closed, Sasuke stirred and nuzzled the nape of his bedmate but didn't fully awake, just near the borderline of sleep and awake. Tightening his hold around the waist of his bedmate, Sasuke sighed as he curled up behind said bedmate and went back to dream land.
Roxanne, having felt the curl, turned and latched on to whoever was behind and wrapped her arms around a waist and tangled their legs. Listening to a steady heartbeat of a chest, Roxanne went back to sleep.
Naruto finished taking a shower and wrapped a towel around his waist and stepped out of the stall, wondering if the others got up. Drying himself and his hair, Naruto got dressed and open the door. Walking to the bedroom, Naruto smiled at the sight of his 2 best friends curled together with limbs tangled. Then a glint sparkled in his eyes as he eyed the camera on the nightstand. With as much quietness he can muster, Naruto tiptoed to the nightstand, plucked the camera up and tiptoed back to the doorway.
Bringing the camera to face level, Naruto quietly moved around to get the best screen shot he could with the light streaming in from the window and trying to get both faces at an angle.
Click "Perfect" he whispered and kept on taking pictures in different ways and angles and as much as he can before either of his bedmates roused from the sound of clicking. When done, Naruto tiptoed back to the night stand and back to the doorway. With one final glance at the bed, Naruto smiled and went to the kitchen.
Unbeknownst to him, Roxanne was pretending to sleep due to her hyper awareness of her environment and so when Naruto first took a step is when she awoke but did not open her eyes or stiffen her body. What did surprise her were the clicking sounds and Roxanne just wanted to smile, knowing she had this, Sasuke and her in bed sleeping, on her camera. Once the clicking stopped and Naruto went to the kitchen, Roxanne peek one eye and saw that the coast was clear, she slowly untangled herself and stretched. Turning away from her sleeping buddy, Roxanne scooted away from Sasuke and grabbed Naruto's pillow. Knowing what will happen, Roxanne again pretended to sleep and await the now twitching Sasuke to wake up.
'Warmth, where did it go' the thought came up as Sasuke began through the process of traveling through consciousness and his hand moved side to side to find that warmth. Not finding it any closer, Sasuke open his eyes and lifted his head. Looking at the back of Roxanne's head with his sleepy eyes, he got confused and so rubbed them. Opening them again to see clearly, Sasuke's face blushed a rosy color when his eyes told his brain who he was snuggling with moments ago. Lifting himself more on his elbows, Sasuke looked around to find the one who he thought he was snuggling with but could not find them. He could hear him though and in the kitchen no less.
"Idiot" he said under his breath and sat up, swung his feet to the floor and stretched. Pushing himself off the bed to a standing position, Sasuke walked out of the room to the delicious smell of breakfast being made in the kitchen, Roxanne opening one eye to see and listen.
Naruto is quietly humming to himself as he turned the bacon and eggs, not hearing Sasuke move up beside him. About to turn, Naruto gave a yelp at seeing the now awake Sasuke looking at him with an expression that said 'what the hell'.
"What?" Naruto said as he scoop up eggs onto a plate, making 3 even portions and moved to the fridge to grab the juice but Sasuke stopped him.
"Naruto" exasperated said "Remember what our Jonin said" being given a blank stare, Sasuke sighed "He said not to have anything to eat or else" a lightbulb went on in Naruto's head and Sasuke could see the gears moving in the blonde's head.
Naruto chuckled nervously as he rubs the back of his head "oops"
"You know" both heads snapped to the table where Roxanne sat crossed legged on the chair "it won't matter" Both boys looked at her in confusion and shock, they didn't even feel her move behind them, and so Roxanne explained.
While her clone explained the why, the real Roxanne smiled into the pillow she's now holding but a second later, tensed when her senses picked up something and to got up quickly to the window and opening it a crack. Looking up Roxanne could see a foot, right above her window and opening the window more confirmed whose foot it belong to: Kakashi Hatakei. Grinning evilly, Roxanne turned her head towards the kitchen to make sure that her clone has the boys' attention and once she knew the coast is clear, Roxanne slipped out of the window quietly. Chakra lining her feet and hands, Roxanne clung to the side of the building and reached up. With a quick and strong tug, Roxanne caught the Jonin by surprise.
Kakashi Hatakei had a second only to spare to catch himself from falling when a hand hauled him off balance. Once he did, he looked around for the culprit and caught sight of a smirking Roxanne standing sideways with her arms crossed over her chest.
"Guess you did heed my warning, Hatakei, but converting to a peeping tom? Isn't that just a bit low for a Jonin of your status, especially peeping in on your students? Tsk tsk tsk" waving at finger at the Jonin.
Scoffs and stands up also, leveling a glare at Roxanne who just smiles.
"Not that it's any of your business, I was checking in on Naruto" Roxanne's smile grew.
"Checking or checking?" wiggling her brows at Kakashi, hoping to get a better reaction but received none other than his glare intensifying. Sighing in exasperation, Roxanne crouched and sat against the wall.
"I know a thing or two about a thing or two, Kakashi Hatakei. And one of them so happens to be the test you'll be giving the boys this morning" Turns her head to level him with a look "That is if you actually make it on time instead of spying on them from a distance or a long period of time" a brow rose "Like some shinobi's, I like to conduct my own research. And given the free time I'll be having until they schedule a Jonin to be my sensei, I'd say we best be on our good behavior around each other if we are near the boys" Looking away, Roxanne could see people milling about on the streets, heading to work and whatnots.
"What's the catch?"
Roxanne scoffs and lightly laughs at the question.
"I know you will be training all of them, be it on a lowly mission or just plain training out on the grounds and most likely with the boys more than Sakura. On the off chance you decide that your time is worth only to one of the boys" A look tossed to Kakashi "I'll be training the other"
Silence as Kakashi staring with one eye at Roxanne who is watching the street down below.
"Alright. Stay out of my way and I'll stay out of yours" and was about to jump off the side of the building but Roxanne slammed him back to the wall, with hands on either side of Kakashi's head and straddling his middle.
"How about this: I tolerate you and you tolerate me. You've seen what happens when you bad mouth me in front of the boys. Do you really want to know what will happen if you tried to pick a fight with me?" Head cocked to the side, Roxanne smiled sweetly at Kakashi who knew it was anything but.
"I'm their sensei; they have to listen to me"
"And I'm the first girl that befriended Naruto when no one else would. Plus I didn't fall head over my own heels for Sasuke's attention. You might become their sensei today but I got seniority"
Kakashi did not rebuttal that last comment and settled for glaring at the girl above him.
"If you are going to be stubborn about this then how about for the sake of the boys, when or if you choose to speak to me, don't speak to me as if I'm stupid. I'm not stupid or else I would have been killed a long time ago" Still glaring, Roxanne sighs "And until I get a Jonin instructor, I'll try hard not to bust in on your training time. I may not have one yet but when I do, I'll be too busy to flank in on your turf, ok?" That got the glare to lighten up as Kakashi thought it over. (AN: as you might have read in the last chapter, no one is to know that she does have a Jonin Instructor)
Once the thinking got done, Kakashi relaxed under Roxanne and gave a bored look indicating he agrees.
"Good. Now run along, mommy's got to get ready" A peck on the nose and Roxanne fades out only to reappear inside the apartment, waving happily at a shock Kakashi from the window. Growling, Kakashi pops away and Roxanne stifles a laugh.
The getting ready part was just a fluke, Roxanne is still tired from last night's activities and so fell back into bed. Getting comfortable, Roxanne listen in on her clone finishing her explanation.
"So get my drift" Wiggling her eyebrows at the boys as they thought over what Roxanne (clone) has said. Well, Sasuke was thinking it over; Naruto was bringing 2 and 2 together to make 4. Then Click!
"Oh, you mean our sensei is always late? You mean yesterday when he was late was not just because he was late?" Roxanne nodded
"Your sensei has a reputation on procrastinating. I bet he'll even be late for his own funeral" Nodding to herself, Sasuke held up a hand.
"How do you know this?"
"Yesterday after you guys left the classroom, I wondered around the school and one of the Chunins stopped me to ask what I am doing. Told him nothing and he got me to work on something at the Hokage's office. Well not the actual Hokage's office but more like a filing room. And let me tell you, the Chunin's and Jonin's that hang around in the break room of that office, they love to gossip. So out of curiosity I asked the rep of your sensei, Kakashi Hatakei" She gets looks of surprise and interests "At first they looked at each other and laughed. When one of them calmed down, they said that he is one of the laziest person ever but got corrected by another saying he's not lazy, just like to takes his time. Then another laughed at that and corrected them saying that he is the world's best procrastinator ever. That one they all agreed on and so I put in my 2 cents. I asked why he's a Jonin if he completely takes his time"
Silence as they boys were listening intently and not paying attention to what they eating or whose plate they were eating.
"They said it's because he's the best and that was it. Couldn't get nothing out of them after that so I went back to my filing" Shrugging, Roxanne (clone) picked up a fork and started on her eggs.
"Soooo" Naruto started "If we eat now and by the time our sensei shows up, it won't matter?" a nod "Because he'll be late?" another nod "Can I have your bacon?" almost a nod but Roxanne(clone) shook her head at the very last second before Naruto could reach over to swipe at one of the bacons.
"I don't want to get in trouble on the first day of a brand new 4-man cell" Sasuke's input
"Look" a fork in his face
"You are not really a team yet" confusion "You will be given a test first and if he passes you, only then you'll be a team. Not before"
"A test? But we just finished passing the exam to become a Genin, why are we getting another test?" Pushing the fork away from his face, Sasuke pointed a fork at Roxanne's face. "What's going on?"
Crossing fork for fork, Roxanne smiled "Your Jonin is also known for giving his new students a test on the first day and so far, no one has passed. To this day, Kakashi Hatakei has never taken on any students for his 4-man cell and if you fail too" swipe the fork away "You'll be back at the academy faster than you can say Ramen"
"But that's not fair!" Naruto yelled
"He can't do that!" Sasuke added
"Of course he can. He's the Jonin and you are new Genin's. I suggest you just go with it, try hard, work hard and try to pass. He's got to know that you won't give up that easily or else you might as well just go right back to the academy and try again next year"
"No way!" Naruto slammed his hand down on the table and stood
"Not going to do it!" Sasuke stood also.
"Great!" Roxanne (clone) stood also. "That's what I like to hear! Now finished eating and go get ready before you head out" Roxanne took one last bite and walked towards the bedroom "I'm going back to bed" Yawn "Let me know how it goes".
Naruto and Sasuke watched her go, then looked at each other.
"Did she do that on purpose?" Naruto asks and Sasuke nods
"Girls" Sasuke nodded again.
OOOOO
As they were told to do, Naruto and Sasuke ate their breakfast, cleaned up and grabbed their stuff to head back to Naruto's to shower, not wanted to disturb Roxanne.
Tying the headband on his head, Naruto check himself on the mirror by his closet and nodded to himself. Sasuke checked his weapon's pouch one last time then attached it to his belt and nodded.
"Ready?" He asked Naruto who nodded and gave a thumb up. They left without another word, Naruto locking his door and went to the railing on the side.
"Race ya" was all he said before jumping off. Sasuke smiled and followed suit.
Neither gave up room in their speed to the appointed place their Jonin placed. Neck and neck they were but it wasn't all serious. One would try to trip the other or make clones to trick the other but no matter what, they laughed about it. Once they got sight of a pink blob, both boys sped up and soon skedded to a stop, blowing out sand everywhere.
"First!" they both yelled when the sand cleared.
"No I'm First!" both
"No I am" both
"No I am!" both
And they kept arguing who came first while Sakura watched in stun silence sitting by a tree, with sand on her face and in her hair. Bringing her hands up, She felt it.
The sand.
In her hair.
In her Clean Hair.
As the argument kept going, neither boys paid attention to the looming dark cloud of rage going their way. Only when a large, dark shadow had fallen over them did they look, only to see a fist come down.
Boop! Ka-pow! Bam! Crash!
2 bumps on each of the boys head, and yes that includes Sasuke, cause no matter how much Sakura loves Sasuke and would never hurt him like that and would try with all her might to keep him away from harm…
BUT you just don't mess with a girl's hair; especially if they spend a long length of time fixing it to make it look flowy the way Sakura did hers, even if it means tons of products just to keep every strand of hair in place.
So anyways, the boys cradled their heads as Sakura turned and stomped away, determined to wash her hair now and be late then have sand covered hair and wait.
Watching her leave, the boys breathe a sigh of relief and rubbed their injuries.
"What was that all about?" Sasuke just shook his head, not knowing how to answer that.
"Come on" nudging Naruto "Let's sit up there where there's more shade then down here" Naruto nodded and jumped to the first branch. Sasuke followed and both climbed high up until they each found a branch that had a good amount of foliage to keep the sun away but you could still see the ground and area below.
"How long you think we gonna wait?"
"Don't know. Hope not for long. We did leave the apartment around 8 instead of being here 6 like we were told to" Sasuke leaned back against the tree and put his legs up on the length of the branch, crossing them at the ankle.
"Hmm. If I didn't know better, I'd say you always did what you were told" Naruto commented while folding his arms behind his head and laid back with his legs up against the tree and crossed at the ankle.
"Hn. Like you don't"
"Never had anyone to tell me to"
Sasuke turned his head to glance at Naruto who had his eyes closed and chewing on a straw of grass. 'Naruto never had parents or guardians. Never having to be told anything or to listen to anyone. Just him, in that tiny apartment and his ramen'
"That is" Sasuke listened in "Until Roxanne showed up; I would have been happy with do what I wanted and to never stop eating ramen until the day I die" Naruto sat up, swung his legs over and leaned against the tree. "Since she showed up, I've been eating better; working hard and learning new stuff that no one cared to show me before. I look forward each day now, to new teachings or just plain hanging out. Sleeping made easier now that I know there's someone there, like family and I've never had family before"
"Hn." Sasuke thought it over. He's never notice Naruto until Roxanne showed up and began paying attention to Naruto. Then, Naruto was loud and kept saying he'll be the best ninja there is and will become Hokage one day but he always came in dead last in everything. Even Sakura was better than Naruto then but now, Naruto is in league with Sasuke himself and that made him wonder: would Naruto still be able to reach that height if Roxanne never showed up.
"Do you" but Sasuke cut himself off, Naruto however heard.
"Do Me what?" taking a breath, Sasuke asked:
"Did you ever get lonely, before Roxanne I mean, did you ever get lonely all by yourself all the time?"
Naruto thought it over.
"Yes. I got lonely but I never let it get to me outside my home. Outside, in the village, I had to be loud just to get attention, any attention and I know it annoyed a lot of the villagers but as long as they noticed me, then I can tell myself that I'm there, that I'm alive and not feel like a ghost. Only at night when everyone is asleep, that's the worst part, being in the dark with no one to see you and the loneliness hits you ten times. I used to have nightmares and didn't get enough sleep but I never let it show when I go to school.
When Roxanne showed up that day, I didn't get enough sleep and thought I was dreaming the whole thing. We even went to get ramen for lunch (laughs) and with the many bowls we ordered, I thought I'd be broke but she offered to pay, no matter how much I resisted. After that, I really thought I was dreaming the whole thing cause we talked on the way back to school and she stood up for me and wanted to sit with me. (laughs) I thought the amount of loneliness that build up from all the years has finally got to me and my subconscious, that my mind had finally snapped and caved in on itself to rid me of my loneliness.
As the day went and I found out she was going to live in the same apartment as me, I almost broke down and cried right there in the Hokage's office: it was real, she was real and it was really happening. I wasn't alone anymore, where ever I went, she was there. Whatever I say, be it stupid or not, I didn't get brushed aside as annoying and she'd be there laughing with me. She got me new clothes that I wouldn't even dream of getting cause no one would sell to me except if it was a color that was not selling and sold to me for a stupid price but I had no choice then. I have a choice now. People talk to me, they don't shy away from me or call me names or try to hurt me.
All this because she came into my life and changed everything. If I had to wake up now and see that it was all a dream, then I'll happily knock myself into a coma if it meant staying in this life then go through all that loneliness again" throwing the piece of grass to the ground below, Naruto looked off to the distance, trying to understand why he's telling anyone, or even Sasuke for that matter, about everything he's felt since that day. Maybe in some weird way, Naruto thought Sasuke would also understand as he is also alone in this world, no parents or family.
Sasuke for his part, felt stunned and that's kind of hard to do. He didn't know Naruto lived such a life before Roxanne and how she has changed everything.
Before, Sasuke wouldn't have notice Naruto at all and would be in his own little world, trying to get better and stronger. Always training on his own and thinking it's pointless to be going to school for that but in order to become a Genin, he has to go. Before, Sasuke was ok with that fact he had no friends and that most of the boys hated him cause of the girls that followed him and made goo-goo eyes at him. He was ok coming home to an empty but clean apartment every day and ate by himself every night and went to sleep in a very dark and very quiet bedroom.
Now, it's different. He has friends, trained with those friends and looked forward to going to school. Heck, he had his first alcoholic beverage without being pressured into it. Even as far as going to a sleep over (the word pajama party rings in his head but will not be spoken out loud) at a girls place no less but at least it's not one of those crazy fan girls or else he would of gone mad. Since he's has been given a chance to hang out with Naruto and Roxanne, he has done things that he wouldn't normally do or think of doing. All he would have thought about was getting stronger by any means necessary and yet, that thought hasn't come across until yesterday when Kakashi asked what their goals/dreams are.
"Kakashi-sensei's here" Naruto interrupted Sasuke's thoughts and they both turned to see Kakashi standing in the clearing with his arms crossed.
Jumping off their seated branches, both boys landed a few feet from where Kakashi's standing and greeted him.
"2? Where's Sakura?" and just as the boys were going to answer him, someone else did.
"Here. I'm here" Sakura came running, waving her hand at them. Stopping by the 3, Sakura bend over catching her breath. "I'm here" once she breath easily, Sakura stood and smiled. Naruto and Sasuke took note of the slightly damp look Sakura was carrying but refrain from commenting, the bumps still tender from earlier.
"You're late" Kakashi's disapproving looks withered Sakura's mood.
"No I wasn't" a look asked her to elaborate "I came here at the time you scheduled but had to leave to due circumstances"
"Oh"
"But all of you were late, especially you Kakashi-sensei. You said be here at 6 but its 9 now. So I wasn't late, I was early" crossing her arms over her chest, Sakura smirked.
"I wasn't late" looks of surprise "I got lost on the road of life over that way" and thumbed some location to his right "What you mean all of us were late. The boy were here and you weren't when I showed up" Sakura humph and turned her head.
"Naruto and Sasuke showed up less than an hour ago and it was then I had to run home" An eye brow rose at that and Kakashi turned to the 2 boys, whistling and looking innocent.
"Boys?" shrugged was the answer
"Hmm" walking closer, Kakashi leaned down to eye level to Naruto who quietly gulped and adverted eye contact.
"Naruto" Naruto hummed to himself.
"Sasuke" he looked at Kakashi with a bored expression, not leaking any emotion out.
Kakashi stared at both boys before lading his eye on Naruto and stared intently, making Naruto fidget.
"Alright!" a quick jab from Sasuke to silence him but it didn't help "We figure from yesterday that you'll be late and so we took our time coming here and we are right, you are late" rubbing the back of his head nervously, Naruto smiled sheepishly while Sasuke sighed and mutter under his breathe about idiots cracking under pressure.
"hmm. And you know this by one short meeting with me?" Naruto nodded
"Interesting. Ok then. We might as well begin. Today will be a simple test. All you (points at the 3 looking at him) have to do is get these from me" takes out 2 bells on a short string.
"But sensei, there's only 2 bells on there and there's 3 of us" Sakura asks
"Good observation Sakura. Only 2 will pass while the last will fail and be sent back to the academy" Sakura gasps and turns to the 2 boys but looked confused at their expression. Naruto smiled and Sasuke smirked.
"Your goal is to get these bells from my person with any means necessary" The trio nodded "Starts NOW!" and the 3 disappeared.
'Hmm, very good' until he felt more than 3 signatures 'hmm that's very good, hiding among clones' Pulling out a worn out looking book, Kakashi set to reading while waiting for his students to come out.
A distance away, under some bushes hid Naruto and Sasuke. Sasuke brought a finger to his lips to silence Naruto and took out a pad and pen from his pouch.
'Nice work on the clones' Sasuke
'Thanks. Now what' Naruto
'I think Kakashi means for us to get the bell individually and not as a team. Probably expects it from us'
'Yeah, the way he said it like no matter what it's a fail. Even if we get 2 bells, it's still a fail for all of us cause it's a 4-man cell'
'We gotta find Sakura and let her know. I'll think of a plan'
Both boys nodded and went in search of their pink haired teammate.
Up in a thick covered tree, Sakura sat on the highest branch, watching Kakashi and making no sound…. Until she felt hands grab her and cover her mouth. About to give the creep a good ass whooping, Sakura turned her head and saw Sasuke hushing her. Looking up, Sakura saw a head of blonde and relaxed, Naruto letting go and sat next to her.
About to question what's going on, Naruto held his hands up to stop her and pointed to Sasuke, who is writing on a pad.
'Do you know what's going on?' it question and Sakura looked confused.
'Kakashi-sensei only had 2 bells, right' Sakura nodded
'Even if 2 of us get the bells, we all still fail' again Sakura nodded and gestured with her hands for him to keep going.
'If we work as a Team, we won't fail and Kakashi won't expect us working together, he saw us going in different directions' Sakura gestured for the pad, so Sasuke hand it to her.
'Why won't Kakashi expect us to work together?' and showed the pad to both boys. Naruto took and answer.
'Because we're kids and he expects us to not communicate with each other and go against the other if it meant passing' Sasuke nodded and took the pad.
'We will all attack at once, make a dozen or so clones and hide among them'
'But Naruto is not good at that'
'You'd be surprise, Sakura, on what Naruto can do' Naruto smiled at the praise. Sakura looked confused but nodded. The boys nodded back and Sasuke stashed the pad and pen. Hold up his hand, Sasuke counted down from 3 and the other 2 got ready.
Kakashi waited reading his book but kept his sense on track of all the signatures around him.
Movement. Looking up and around, Kakashi saw nothing at first. Until he look up to see over 3 dozen or so of his students clones about to attack. Sighing, Kakashi puts away his book and took out a kunai, getting ready, expecting this to be easy.
What he didn't expect is another wave to hit him on the ground but deflected all attacks from above and below. Turning here and there, dodging left and right, slashing some and most but the clones kept coming closer and closer. Hands on his shoulder, his leg and back; kicking and punching in all directions.
'Are they this good?' thought Kakashi as he stabbed a few more clones that poof away.
As suddenly as they came, they went, all puffing away until only 3 are left. Sakura, Naruto and Sasuke stood smiling at Kakashi who raised a brow.
"What's so funny" Stashing his knife, Kakashi crossed his arms, waiting on the students.
Sakura smiled and Sasuke smirked as they both revealed a bell. Kakashi's eye widen and look down to see no bells on his person. Chuckling and shaking his head, Kakashi eyed the kids as be brought his hands to his hips.
"Great plan but you still failed" Naruto held up a hand.
"No we don't. Because you see" and puts his hands on Sakura's and Sasuke's
"We helped each other, like a team would and so we"
"We get equal the prize because"
"Sharing is caring, especially in a group as different as us"
"But we are still a team and teams help each other, no matter the difference"
Kakashi watched as his students smiled and laughed together. "How did you figure it out?"
"You had 2 bells to the 3 of us"
"And that meant 2 would be the victor but the last won't"
"However we would still fail because you can't have a 4-man cell with only 2 students and so automatically we all fail"
Kakashi stared at his students with an expression that cannot be read from the outside but on the inside, he's surprised. In all the years he's has been giving this test, none of them passed because they only did it for themselves and never as a team. Kakashi watched the 3 in a different light as they laughed and talked about the effectiveness of their plan. Kakashi thought that each one of them would go against each other and try to win but they all worked together to finish a goal and win together instead.
'I got a lot to reconsider about this group, but first thing'
"In that case, you" pause for affect "Passed" and smiled.
Sakura, Naruto and Sasuke paused for a second to allow that answer to sink in.
And when it did:
Naruto and Sakura yelled for joy, Sasuke smirked, Naruto clapped Sasuke on the back but Sakura bopped him lightly on the head for that. Naruto whined to Sakura that she didn't need to hit that hard, Sakura fussing over Sasuke and Sasuke sighed but pushed Naruto to let him know it's ok with it.
Sakura suggested ice cream in celebration; the boys agreed and asked Kakashi if he wanted to join in. He accepted and walked with the 3 into the market place as they all argued on what to get but laughed all the same in the end.
