Drum Roll Please
She had arrived back at Hogwarts and as the year slowly seemed to come to a close Atria began to worry more and more about the last challenge.
Weeks of preparing and fretting and she felt like she had aged an extra 20 years from the stress of it.
So when she went to meet with Harry and Hermione to continue preparation she was surprised by the odd turn the day took.
"Where are we going?" Atria asked as Harry hurried her across the edge of the lake.
"I have a surprise for you," he simply said an excited light in his eyes.
Atria looked down with agitation manning to stop herself from tripping on the rocky shore.
"Okay," Harry said turning back to her with a halt.
He put his hands on her shoulders before beginning to politely explain. "I know it's a stressful time for the both of us, with the tournament and the Malfoy's so I think we deserve a break." He then gestured to the open space behind him, "Hence "
On the small grassy patch Harry had set up what looked to be a small picnic atria raised her eyebrow sceptically.
"A picnic."
"Yes, and I know how much you love a good lunch so there is absolutely no reason for you to be looking at me with that much judgment," he teased.
Atria smiled as he led her to sit down on the blanketed ground.
"So while me and Hermione slave away you have been planning a picnic?" she said cheekily as she sat down.
He gave a her a devilish smile, "Exactly."
They now lay out on the blanket looking up at the clouds as they were brought back to the present.
"One more task than it's over," Harry said his tone serene.
"When you say it like that it sounds so easy," Atria said, "Say it again"
Harry laughed before he gave in to her request, "One more task then it's over "
Atria smiled softly, "I wish it could all just be over."
Harry's smile dropped, "What?"
Atria rolled her eyes, "Not like that, I mean everything going on, the tournament, the Malfoys, Sirius. I wish he was just free, I wish I could let him outside and live with him like a normal family. I just wish everything was normal and there was none of this."
Harry's head rolled to the side to look over at her, "That sounds nice."
Atria nodded, "Almost too good to be true."
They lay in silence for a moment before Harry spoke, "One day," Harry said as he sat up on his elbow and leaned over her. His face was directly in front of hers blocking out the sky, his eyes glittered with excitement as he began to speak of their future.
"One day, I will walk you down diagon ally, with Sirius and you'll be the most normal girl in the world." He said as he smiled down at her.
Atria's eyes darted away nervously at his closeness as she smiled through her blush, "Really?"
Harry nodded as his hand went to play with her hair, "I promise," she said earnestly.
She locked eyes with him for a moment but she couldn't help but nervously look away.
"Atria look at me," he said softly.
Her eyes locked with his green eyes and this time they did not shy away.
"Atria?" He asked as his hand continued cogently comb through her hair.
"Yes," she whispered.
"Can I kiss you?" He whispered gently down to her.
His answer came in the form of a small nod, so small it could've been missed. Her eyes widened slightly as he started to slowly move in.
She closed her eyes as his lips slowly landed on hers.
It was a soft kiss, it wasn't at all like how Draco had kissed her, there was no pushing they were simply touching.
She sighed and the soft touch and then jumped when he brought his hand to her cheek, cupping it gently.
Then they both held still. He held her in place helping to guide her as he started to gently move his lips agasint hers, his nose nudging against hers gently.
His other hand found hers where it lay above her head, he intertwined their fingers as his lips became firmer against hers.
And for the first time in a long time she felt at peace, everything else became so hard to remember that it was almost like she didn't have a worry on her mind.
Harry on the other hand felt like he was about to explode. His fingers trembled on her cheek where he touched her.
And it remained beautiful for a while until a rustle came from the trees behind them.
They broke apart quickly.
"What was that?" Atria asked.
"Probably nothing," Harry said as he looked up before returning to stroke her hair.
He looked back down at her, "You are so beautiful."
Atria smiled, "You're not all that bad yourself either Potter."
And if you had been in the depths of the dark forest you would have heard the giggling mess that was Atria Black as Harry Potter tickled her to death.
It was safe to say Atria had been a wreck all day, a shaking mess is a better way to describe it. Tonight was the night, the last challenge.
Harry had been allowed the day off to prepare, leaving Atria to internally panic on her own in class. Well, that wasn't all true she had caught a glimpse of Hermione as she picked up a vile and it had all but tumbled out of her shaking hand.
Potions the last subject of the day and when class was dismissed it would be time, Students would go back and get changed and then go out to see just what the last challenge would be.
"Class dismissed," she finally heard Snape announce.
She stood to leave having packed her bag early in anticipation to get out as fast as she could.
"Miss Black do stay behind."
Atria slumped as her eyes rolled. Why was he doing this today? Today of all days. She snatched her bag up grumpily before approaching the front of the class as the other students rushed out the door.
Snape came to stand in front of his desk before leaning back and pulling something from his cloak, A small vile and placing it softly with a clink on the table.
"Know what that is?" He asked her.
She blinked, "Veritisirum," She said blankly.
Snape nodded, "Now if you remember well I threatened Harry Potter with this potion."
Atria nodded boorishly.
"Do you know why?" He continued to question.
"Someone stealing from your private stores," Atria said openly, there was no use in pretending she hadn't heard Harry and Snape's conversation, it was clear he already knew.
Snape's eyebrow twisted upwards but aside from his cold eyes, he looked very calm, "Fluxweed," he said.
Atria brow furrowed, "Pardon sir?"
But he did not explain, instead, he continued, "Knotgrass, Lacewing flies, Leeches"
What was he saying, Fluxweed, Knotgrass, Lacewing flies, Leeches? It dawned on her that these were ingredients and as her mind quickly calculated just what you could make with such ingredients she found herself opening her mouth to blurt out.
"Sir we have not been brewing Polyjuice Potion," It was the truth as if she would ever dare.
"I do not think I can allow myself to believe that." He said taking a step forward.
"But it's the truth," she said angrily.
"Oh yes Miss Black if there one thing you're known for it's your ability, to tell the truth, " he said snidely.
"Even if it was Harry I have nothing to do with it," she was trying not to let her teeth grit together as she spoke but today was not the day for this conversation.
"You know nothing?" He asked.
"No Sir," she said stiffly.
They stood in silence for a moment before he nodded.
"You may go Miss Black." He said as he turned. Around to walk around his desk.
This day could not get any more confusing, just like that Snape caught onto the sceptical look as atria stood still watching him, "anything else Miss Black."
Atria shook her head "No Sir," she said before turning. She had almost reached the door when she heard his voice again, "Miss Black before you go," he said she halted before turning back to him.
He had sat behind the desk looking over some paper in front of him, "Don't act rashly," he said slowly.
What, "Pardon sir?" He asked not even bothering to pretend she was not confused.
He looked up from his paper as he said slowly, or rather spelled it out for her, " Don't Act Rashly," he repeated again, Before look gun back down, "Please Close the door on your way out."
Atria closed the door behind her and she all but stomped up the hallway. Why was it she was blamed for everything? If the sky found a way of falling she truly believed Snape would find a way to blame her for it. Stealing ingredients for Polyjuice potion what in gods name would they use that….
Atria halted, it wasn't them using the Polyjuice potion. But someone else was.
Atria's mind began to race as she stood stone still alone in the hallway, her eyes moving frantically as she thought.
Snape had asked Harry about this months ago, someone was still stealing ingredients for Polyjuice potion. Someone was using Polyjuice potion for a long time.
If there was someone who had not been caught, they would have to drink Polyjuice potion every hour, there was no way you could get away with it otherwise. But surely you would notice someone who would need to drink it ev…
His hand moved to his waist before taking a flask of something and swigging it down.
Atria eyes widened, "Oh My God," she whispered to herself.
She took off in a stride rushing down the hallway as her mind leapt into action.
No, it couldn't be she kept telling herself, surely Dumbledore would have known.
No she had felt off about this man the whole year but he couldn't...
Just remember Harry it takes a certain kind of person to cast that curse.
Did he put Harry's name in the goblet of fire?
Why?
He's growing stronger Atria.
No, it couldn't be To- Voldemort.
Why would he want Harry in the Tournament and why was it that Harry was left to succeed.
Because whoever it was needed Harry to get to this point. That's the only reason he had gotten this far.
So they would have ensured Harry succeeded.
They would have helped him. Like Moody had.
But there is no problem with helping a student unless you told them directly what to do.
But they had, Cedric told Harry the egg goes under the water.
Atria knew Cedric, Strong, courageous, the smartest maybe not.
So who told Cedric.
Atria had now taken off into a full-blown sprint, running to the entrance of the castle.
"Diggory!" she screamed as she caught the sight of him with his Hufflepuff entourage, who gave her odd looks as she approached.
"Black?" He asked, looking stunned at her approach.
"Cedric this is important who told you about the egg?" Atria asked bluntly.
It almost looked like he was about to laugh at her as a looked around at his peers, "No one," he said with a shake of his head.
"Cedric please?" She begged as her heart raced.
Cedric looked around him, he walked away from his posse, lead Atria with a soft touch on the arm.
"I told you no one," he said as he stopped.
"Please Cedric," She snapped making him flinch, "I'm sorry, you have to tell me. Say it one more time I will believe you but if you are lying Harry could be in danger so please tell me the truth," she said as her nerves started to take over.
Cedric took a deep breath as he looked around before looking back to her. "Professor Moody," he whispered.
