Prologue: I Need a Hero…or maybe Heroes
Somewhere within the Solana Galaxy is a planet known as Veldin which quite frankly is considered to be a backwater planet due to being almost covered in desert and rocky terrain with several large bodies of water scattered all over, but large buildings depict that people still populate the planet.
We turn our sights towards a cylindrical-shaped garage which sits near the edge of a steep cliff and it has a partial fence attached to it from the right side. On the inside are several ship components placed along a rack on the back wall and several thin antenna-like structures stem from the roof. Someone emerged from the garage and approached a two-seater spaceship with a large wrench in hand.
He appears to be a feline humanoid being with yellow fur, two large pointy ears with brown stripes, large hands, flat triangular clawed feet, and large green eyes. He wears a pair of brown mechanic's gloves, a chest harness, and a pair of green pants.
He opened up one of the ship's panels and used the wrench to properly adjust some of the parts before moving back and activating the watch-like device on his left wrist.
[Final step; attach robotic ignition system. Thank you for using HelpDesk Technology] said the device with a feminine voice.
"Aw great," the male groaned.
"Hey Ratchet, how's it going?" another male voice called out. The now identified Ratchet turned to see someone emerging from the garage to talk to him.
He appears to be a vulpine humanoid being with orange fur, a pair of fox ears with black stripes, there were also black bars resembling whiskers on his cheeks. He currently wears a zip-up sleeveless orange hoodie with a red swirl on the back over a black short sleeved t-shirt, a pair of black fingerless gloves, a pair of googles with orange lens around his neck, olive green cargo shorts reaching a bit past the knees, and a pair of black open-toed sandals.
"Nothing good Naruto, turns out that we need a robotic ignition system in order to start up the ship," said Rachet.
Naruto frowned upon hearing that "Gonna have to figure a way to resolve that,"
Elsewhere in a factory on a planet far away from Veldin, large battle robots are continuously being manufactured then carried out on conveyor belts and deposited through channels for purposes unknown. Suddenly one of the machines acted out of order with the screen depicting an error before depositing a robot off the conveyor belt but one which is vastly different compared to the previous ones.
He is a very small robot made of a grey metallic titanium alloy with large green circular eyes, a red antenna, and small articulated arms and legs with large three-fingered hands and feet. He also contains what appears to be an air vent on his chest.
The robot looked around in confusion before noticing another robot which is generally known as an Infobot hovering nearby, he approached the infobot whilst unaware that he was being watched by a guard bot. infobot switched to monitor mode and the robot's eyes widened in shock of what was displayed before him. He grabbed the infobot and stored it in a compartment in chest but quickly had to scramble into the ventilation shaft as a guard bot tried to grab him.
The robot slid out of the shaft to land into a spaceship and quickly took control to make his escape but two spaceships came after him in pursuit. He took evasive action and was able to avoid several shots but one of the pursuers were able to get a lock on him and land a successful shot, sending the robot plummeting towards a desolate planet.
Meanwhile, Naruto and Ratchet were still contemplating on how to solve the current situation when they noticed something falling from the sky above them and crash-land somewhere with a loud bang.
"Was that a ship?" asked Naruto with a quirked eyebrow.
"I think so, I'm gonna go and check it out. If we're lucky, we might be able to find a robotic ignition system which we can use for our ship," said Ratchet, preparing to set out for the crash site.
"Better watch out for the Horny Toads out there, I learnt that a lot have been roaming around here lately," said Naruto with a frown.
"No worries, I got my Omniwrench and Bomb Glove with me," said Ratchet assuredly.
"Alright then, be sure to contact if anything comes up," said Naruto, receiving a nod of affirmation from the Lombax before he went on his way. Naruto turned to enter the garage and walked over to the worktable where he was working on a pet project of his.
On the table is what could be best described as a combination of a firearm and a single-edged sword for either long range or melee attacks called the Gunslash Zero. Considering that he was rather limited in terms of materials and the weapon is basically a beta, Naruto had to engineer the firearm section of his weapon to utilize a multichambered revolving cylinder behind a barrel for firing, so he would have to swingout the cylinder to eject the bullet casings before inserting fresh ammo and closing it back up or he could simply use a speedloader for quicker reloads.
Naruto carefully checked on the parts to ensure that they're in good condition and reassembled them together before lifting off the worktable and performing a few practice swings as well as switching between gun mode and blade mode, nodding to himself in approval of its current state.
"Perfect, now if Ratchet and I could get the ship working finally then I can see about upgrading my Gunslash past its beta stage and maybe find out more about this strange energy," Naruto held out a hand and concentrated for it to emit a blue fiery aura, he was snapped out of his thoughts when he heard footsteps and look outside to see Ratchet with something in his hands.
"Hey Naruto, look at what I found at the crash site!" said Ratchet placing what appears to be a robot made of titanium alloy but seems to be in a hibernation stage.
"You found a robot, nothing else?" asked Naruto.
"Nope, hopefully it would possess the part we need to make the ship work!" said Ratchet excitedly.
"There's hoping, right now let's focus on finishing up the ship before then," Naruto suggested.
"Okay then,"
Naruto and Ratchet proceeded to work on the ship with the former underneath to ensure that the wings and thrusters are good to go and the latter was standing atop a crate to properly adjust the engine. Unknown to them, the robot came online and stood up, looking at the two at work before approaching them.
"Interesting," the robot muttered thoughtfully.
"Gya!/What the!" Ratchet tumbled off the crate and Naruto bumped his head against the ship before wheeling himself out from underneath it while nursing the bump from the hit, both turned to see the robot staring at them.
"You're both quite skilled with your tools," said the robot.
"Uh thanks," said Ratchet confusedly.
"Hmmm... currently I am in search of someone who could be of assistance in saving the solar system. Do you know where I might find that fellow?" the robot pointed a poster inside their garage, depicting a hero in a green and grey outfit with a yellow lightning bolt on the chest.
"You mean Captain Quark? We only know about him from the radio every week but no clue about where to find him," said Naruto.
"And what's this about saving the universe?" asked Ratchet curiously.
The robot brought out the infobot from his compartment and had it switch to monitor mode "Please watch this…,"
The screen switched on to show a Blarg dressed in a business suit "Hello, citizens of-,"
The on-screen switched to a planet with the name captioned Novalis before changing back to the Blarg.
"My race, the Blarg, have a small problem. Our planet has become so polluted, overpopulated, and poisonous, that we are no longer able to dwell here, but I, Chairman Drek, have a solution. We are constructing a pristine new world using the choices of planetary components available. So, what does this mean to you, you might ask? Using highly sophisticated technology, which you couldn't possibly understand, we will be extracting a large portion of your planet and adding it to our new one. Unfortunately, this change in mass will cause your planet to spin out of control and drift into the sun where it will explode into a flaming ball of gas, but, of course, sacrifices must be made. Thank you for your cooperation,"
"Cut!" a director called out offscreen.
Drek then sneered at the camera "And if you don't like it, you can take your whiny, sniveling, snot nosed populations, form a line behind me and kiss my-," then he noticed that the camera was still rolling "We're still on? Well turn it off, you idiot!"
"The people on those planets are hosed," said Ratchet as the robot returned the infobot back into his compartment.
"I can see why you need to find Captain Quark; this is something serious," said Naruto with his arms crossed and frown on his face.
"Actually, you could help me. If you could use your ship to take me to the coordinates contained in this infobot, I might be able to gather further information there," said the robot.
"As much as we'd like to help you, we can't since we're messing a vital component of the ship," Ratchet pointed out.
The robot scanned the ship for a few moments before speaking up "The Robotic Ignition System,"
"How did you know?"
"I, sirs, happen to be equipped with the latest in Robotic Ignition Systems. My programming allows me to start any ship I choose,"
"So you're offering to help start up our ship in exchange for helping you locate Captain Quark," said Naruto.
The robot nodded in affirmation "That is what I am proposing,"
"Then it's a deal!" said Ratchet excitedly, not wanting to miss the opportunity of finally leaving Veldin to go to other planets.
Naruto looked up to see several ships similar to the one which the robot crashed into the planet with "Might as well get a move on since we're not exactly equipped to receive unruly company, hang on while I go and get something," he ran into the ship as Ratchet and the robot got into the ship to start it up. The fox soon came running out with the Gunslash holstered horizontally to the back of his waist and a hitech slingpack strapped to his back as he jumped into the ship and carried the robot on his lap "Alright Ratchet, hit it!"
Ratchet smirked in response "No need to tell me twice!" he activated the thrusters and took off at highspeed.
Meanwhile in a flagship just outside of Veldin's orbit, Chairman Drek watched as the ship flew from the planet where he had sent his guards to find and capture the robot which had stolen the information containing his secret plans.
Drek frowned at all this "This could be a problem," he gestured to a black silhouette standing behind him, hidden in the shadows "Take care of it," the unknown figure nodded before leaving to perform the assignment given to it.
"Whoa, this is great!" Ratchet peered through the cockpit window in excitement "So that's where I've been stuck this whole time!"
"Ratchet, keep your hands on the controls man! Don't try to crash us!" said Naruto sternly.
"Oh sorry about that, but you gotta admit that you're excited about finally leaving Veldin," Ratchet turned to the robot "Anyways, I realized that we didn't introduce ourselves to you before; the name's Ratchet and he's Naruto. What's your name?"
The robot introduced himself "My serial number is B54296-," he was disrupted when Ratchet slipped on the controls, having him hit the side of the ship.
"Watch it, Ratchet," said Naruto.
"Still getting a hang of the controls, anyways how about we call you Clank? Better than having to pronounce your serial number every time,"
"He's got a point there, we're about to reach Novalis,"
Ratchet adjusted the ship as they drew near one of their soon-to-be many destinations as they begin their journey together.
This is Hussbek online with the first chapter of a new fiction. This is a Naruto/ Ratchet & Clank crossover, it has been on my mind for a while now so I decided to put it up among the others. This is just the prologue and I hope you like it. Naruto will also partner up with a robot who's just as capable in combat compared to Clank, he'll also wield firearms and artillery from other FPS games so be sure to look forward to it. Keep in mind that this isn't a reincarnated Naruto but rather one born in that universe and the energy he emits isn't chakra.
Like Ratchet, Naruto also invents gadgets and tools which will be of help albeit with more common sense applied such as his signature weapon the Gunslash (From Phantasy Star Online). So there'll be more to come along the way in this fanfic.
